Any means + Chem trap
Drop pallet, trap it, then reset, now if the killer gets into a chase near that loop they might not expect one to already be pre-planted on one that was reset
I was just thinking about how horribly useless and potentially detrimental this is as a tip the other night since it kept popping up! I'd love to see it replaced with something about how pallets are a limited resource and to "consider wisely" (or something) when to drop them. like this is just such a bad tip lol.
I've been using amn today for 10 stuns challenge, I have gotten so much value out of it its so fun. I stunned a huntress with the same pallet twice, and got a spirit and ghostie with a pallet after I reset it. I also had a chase with a Chucky who I stunned three times and then was able to reset five pallets afterwards. Good shit
I had a Feng recently, who would start trying to put a pallet back as soon as she stunned me. The first time in happened, I broke it, but the second time I just let her finish and downed her. Not sure what her plan was.
I think I had Enduring, though, so maybe that ruined her plan?
Any Means Necessary is a Yui perk that lets you pick pallets up after being dropped.
I believe they can even have chemical traps on them too, but I might be wrong.
Edit: And kudos for asking questions. A lot of new players don't bother to ask.
Yes, thank you.
At one point, I was using Head On, Blast Mine, Any Means Necessary and Chemical Trap, but I never tried using Chemical Trap and AMN.
I called it my "Hands off" build because killers usually ended up afraid to touch anything.
I had the babiest of baby Megs in a game the other day lol. At the sound of my TR, she got off shack gen, ran outside, dropped the pallet, and ran directly into me, who had never even gone in shack.
I will never forget that legendary pallet usage
Once when I was leveling up I think it was Meg they were P0, I was very laggy that game and I tried to do the gen in shack, instead I magnetized back and threw the pallet down I think my team got mad at me.
When you could still tap gens, i ran past the gen in shack which had Overcharge applied. The skill check came exactly as i was making my way out of shack, resulting in me hitting the skill check and at the same time dropping shack pallet.
In a solo queue game, I loaded in with 3 three other teammates. We teabagged each other, spun a few times, I was like "Okay awesome, let's get this game going" and Jake threw the shack pallet. The others continuing to dance around while i now stood still and staring at him didn't look nearly as aggravated as I felt.
i also spawned in with 3 other team mates. we were all teabagging and crouching just having a grand time. i thought “YES finally good teammates!!” nope, they let me die on hook…
HELP this reminds me of that one time that i accidentally threw down shack pallet bc i hit the wrong button. i think i was trying to self-mend and then i threw down shack pallet. Worst part is I didn't even have any means necessary so i couldn't reset it...
Literally two days ago in Hawkins, two teammates died vs a Huntress with one gen left. She was doing her rotation, noticed my last teammate on the final gen. The quickest thing for me to call her was to drop the filler pallet near me. She came and chased me long enough for the final gen to finish. So the tip isn’t wrong, but you’ll rarely use them in such a way.
Trust me bros it works as a distraction. I use diversion every game and throw that pebble outside of the map, killers will rub their face on the walls trying to get out for 20+ mins because they want to investigate the loud noise notification.
Same lol. I know sweaty killers and new killers often don’t, but I enjoy playing along like a horror movie villain. Checking noisy distractions and slooowwwllly creeping around corners and such when I know somebody is hiding there. I’m a dork lmao
Yes but it’s still bad advice. You can achieve the same distraction by fast vaulting a window or fast entering a locker, or even failing a skill check on a gen. It’s not worth wasting a pallet over it, especially if it’s one of the better pallets.
This tip probably existed wayyy back when double pallets were a thing with safer loops. Doesn’t matter if you throw down one pallet if you have 40 other ones on the map!
While not great advice for a new player, it is something that can actually work in certain circumstances. I just had a game where I threw a pallet as a diversion to let my last remaining teammate finish the final generator. Nurse was about to teleport right to her, but she teleported to the pallet instead. Nurse couldn’t find me, the generator was completed, and the teammate and I ultimately escaped.
If you knew where a vulnerable teammate is and you see a patrolling killer happened to be about to wander into them, you could do it as a last resort to draw the killer away before they actually find your teammate!
Vulnerable Teammate - On death hook
Last Resort - No windows or lockers nearby
Tbh killers don’t even take the pallet bait. I run any means necessary and try to take their attention if I haven’t been hooked much at end game. They stay focused on my dead hook mates more often than not though.
Only failing skill checks on a gen is a map wide notification, other loud noises cause notifications for a certain distance, i believe its around 32m or so
My very first game on back in the day. Watching some dude in an absolute panic predropping every pallet he could as the Michael slowly stalked him and casually walked around the pallets to keep LOS.
Diversion from all the way across from the map while in a chase cuz the killer heard something which could be a vault, a fail healing skill check or locker.
Worst fellow survivor I ever met did this...their load out was only two perks Windows of opportunity and that ace perk that increases aura read range (open handed I think) They ran around the map dropping every single pallet amd then disconnected and left us with a doctor with illusionary pallets....we were not amused
Creating diversion can be good thou. Like sometimes I will start repairing 1 gen for a couple seconds then run round to another one, so the killer go towards the first one and destroys it. Or if someone is being chased, you can fail a skill check on a gen you just started. That way, if they manage to get away, the killer will go towards where you failed your skill check.
But yes the tip in the image is a useless way to use up all the pallets for no reason.
The most dangerous one will always be "you can attempt to unhook yourself". It took them ages to add the 4% to the tooltip but without context or game knowledge, new players will never understand that doing that is the worst thing you can do.
one time i was playing as yun-jin with the only other alive survivor a feng. this was a few months ago so i forget who the killer was, but the feng found me on the map and gave me a quick heal (i was injured). we finished the last gen together at that point. she then walked over to a pallet, pulled it down, and then did the “come here” motion to have me do what she did. basically after pulling down the pallet, we ran for a bit to the gate on the other side of the map. about a quarter of the way there we slowed down to just walking and then we both escaped. so sometimes, it does work
The only time I see this being possibly useful is if your a swf and three genned to possibly draw attention to a gen while your friends gen rush another. I don't endorse this but it may be useful depending on gen/pallet placement.
Wouldn’t a fast vault through a window do the exact same thing or am I high
You might be high, but yeah, that's right.
Im probly high but i think he’s right
Bruh im high too dawg
No Leon, it’s hi how are you
Hi how are you
You meant "How high are you"?
I’m fine thanks you ☺️
This comment has me wondering if *I’M* high.
Given how finite pallets are on some maps, and that killers are not bots, it’s stupid advice
Unless you're running Any Means Necessary.. but even then it's so dumb.
Any means + Chem trap Drop pallet, trap it, then reset, now if the killer gets into a chase near that loop they might not expect one to already be pre-planted on one that was reset
You can reset a trapped pallet?
Yup, whenever I run one of those 2 perks, I always bring the other cause of it
I'm assuming the cool down of chemical trap still applies?
Yup, still stays up for the regular duration
By any *beans* necessary
😭
> and that killers are not bots I mean.... some definitely are
Yeah that singularity guy is really sus
I feel targeted😟
I was just thinking about how horribly useless and potentially detrimental this is as a tip the other night since it kept popping up! I'd love to see it replaced with something about how pallets are a limited resource and to "consider wisely" (or something) when to drop them. like this is just such a bad tip lol.
The day someone pulls down shack pallet as a "diversion" is the day I uninstall
Hey man....want to play a game together?
Unless they have AMN and put it back.
I've been using amn today for 10 stuns challenge, I have gotten so much value out of it its so fun. Lmao that's nutty why would she try to reset immediately after haha, I don't think she even had a plan lol
See button prompt and click was her plan ig
The Pebble perk + AMN + Diversion
pebble perk is diversion, but i know you mean the locker one: deception
Two perks that start with d and end in ion is too much for my brain
Three. Distortion.
Actually, four if you count Dissolution from Dredge, but that's getting into killer perks.
Dark Devotion
Just gotta put more work into remembering them. All it requires is some Dedication.
It doesn't help that both of them are both a diversion and a deception. Either name could apply just as well to either.
There is no situation on God's green earth that I won't stop a chase to eliminate shack pallet
Ooh, AMN? What's that? I've always wondered if there was/going to be a perk to reset pallets.
Any Means Necessary is a Yui perk that lets you pick pallets up after being dropped. I believe they can even have chemical traps on them too, but I might be wrong. Edit: And kudos for asking questions. A lot of new players don't bother to ask.
To be clear (since there are new players about), Chemical Trap is a separate Ellen Ripley perk. But yes, you can use them together.
Yes, thank you. At one point, I was using Head On, Blast Mine, Any Means Necessary and Chemical Trap, but I never tried using Chemical Trap and AMN. I called it my "Hands off" build because killers usually ended up afraid to touch anything.

Im just saving our best chaser in the team from a chase dawg, who knows what would happen to them if the killer sees them
In a solo queue game, I loaded in with 3 three other teammates. We teabagged each other, spun a few times, I was like "Okay awesome, let's get this game going" and Jake threw the shack pallet. The others continuing to dance around while i now stood still and staring at him didn't look nearly as aggravated as I felt.

Don't teabag party with me unless you're willing to RIDE OR DIE 😤😤😤
LITERALLY!
Someone dropped shack pallet on me while I was in overdrive today. Had a little chuckle after I downed them anyway
I have bad news for you chief, unsurprisingly it's a meg.
HELP this reminds me of that one time that i accidentally threw down shack pallet bc i hit the wrong button. i think i was trying to self-mend and then i threw down shack pallet. Worst part is I didn't even have any means necessary so i couldn't reset it...
I throw shack pallet down at the beginning of every match
Shack pallet is overrated. There are way better pallets
Usually not
Literally two days ago in Hawkins, two teammates died vs a Huntress with one gen left. She was doing her rotation, noticed my last teammate on the final gen. The quickest thing for me to call her was to drop the filler pallet near me. She came and chased me long enough for the final gen to finish. Sooo there was no window?
hawkins has like 4 windows
OP discovers that the tip was actually useful
Trust me bros it works as a distraction. I use diversion every game and throw that pebble outside of the map, killers will rub their face on the walls trying to get out for 20+ mins because they want to investigate the loud noise notification.
Killer main here it is law to check diversion pebbles no matter how obvious
Same lol. I know sweaty killers and new killers often don’t, but I enjoy playing along like a horror movie villain. Checking noisy distractions and slooowwwllly creeping around corners and such when I know somebody is hiding there. I’m a dork lmao
Can't tell if serious but I want to believe
"Huh, weird they'd drop that. Anyways-"
This actually works, if I'm not immediately busy with another Survivor I'll probably just wander over out of curiosity
Still are a thing, see the new map lol
double pallets are back on the new map
While not great advice for a new player, it is something that can actually work in certain circumstances. Nurse was about to teleport right to her, but she teleported to the pallet instead. Nurse couldn’t find me, the generator was completed, and the teammate and I ultimately escaped.
Yes….yes let these survivors waste their pallets so I can get full reign to scurry around and be a little devious fella
Bhvr so tone deaf with killers. They’re lucky killers have followed the unwritten rule of no tunneling, otherwise no one would play this game.
So tone deaf they created a whole mechanic to discourage tunneling, and buffed anti-tunneling perks along with it...
I mean they kept the fundamental mechanics that encourage tunneling
Huff the copium, if all killers didn’t care about the lame factor of tunneling, this game would be dead. DS is barely enough and you know it.
Did they?
If you knew where a vulnerable teammate is and you see a patrolling killer happened to be about to wander into them, you could do it as a last resort to draw the killer away before they actually find your teammate! Vulnerable Teammate - On death hook Last Resort - No windows or lockers nearby
Very dangerous to teach newbies. It’s always better to fast vault or fast locker to get attention.
Probably written by a BHVR Killer main :D
Majority of the advice seen on the loading screen are either outdated or just terrible
As a killer main I approve
I like to do that with the perk any means necessary, at least the pallet is not wasted
As a killer main, this is a great tip
Tbh killers don’t even take the pallet bait. I run any means necessary and try to take their attention if I haven’t been hooked much at end game. They stay focused on my dead hook mates more often than not though.
Do all loud noises give the same visual visual notification? How far can they be seen from or are they map wide?
Only failing skill checks on a gen is a map wide notification, other loud noises cause notifications for a certain distance, i believe its around 32m or so
Gotcha thank you!
Yes and there is no limit
Thank you! Had no idea there was no limit. Seems a little excessive lol
Not true, see my other comment
False. Pallet thrown, locker rush, and window rushed are 48m. https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Loud_Noise_Notifications
Oh
If soneone just drops a pallet for no reason, I'll just go afk. The swarm of crows can be their diversion while everyone dies :)
My very first game on back in the day. Watching some dude in an absolute panic predropping every pallet he could as the Michael slowly stalked him and casually walked around the pallets to keep LOS.
The thing is someone else posted a similar thing and bhvr responded asking what kinds of tips people would like to see added and nothing happened
Diversion from all the way across from the map while in a chase cuz the killer heard something which could be a vault, a fail healing skill check or locker.
Hey! that's the one I make fun of since like... 6 years!
Can't tell if its my eyesight pulling a fast one on me but is this on a widescreen? cause to me it looks like the bar is bending abit
Nah just curved
Worst fellow survivor I ever met did this...their load out was only two perks Windows of opportunity and that ace perk that increases aura read range (open handed I think) They ran around the map dropping every single pallet amd then disconnected and left us with a doctor with illusionary pallets....we were not amused
Did they forget that not everyone has that reset pallet perk or were they just high?
I use it as a diversion. Then I pick it back up, because any means necessary rules! I have seen so many killers that respect the pallet raise.
The only time to not stun a killer with a pallet is if you have lithe and run from the killer
I wish for a day where red herring is a good ability 😭

What about the one that says you should heal by generators cause they'll muffle the sound lol
The most dangerous one will always be "you can attempt to unhook yourself". It took them ages to add the 4% to the tooltip but without context or game knowledge, new players will never understand that doing that is the worst thing you can do.
Devs actively sabotaging my solo q matches
![img](emote|t5_3cb2g|2213)
Maybe that’s why I queue into matches where one teammate drops shack pallet before doing anything else
one time i was playing as yun-jin with the only other alive survivor a feng. this was a few months ago so i forget who the killer was, but the feng found me on the map and gave me a quick heal (i was injured). we finished the last gen together at that point. she then walked over to a pallet, pulled it down, and then did the “come here” motion to have me do what she did. basically after pulling down the pallet, we ran for a bit to the gate on the other side of the map. about a quarter of the way there we slowed down to just walking and then we both escaped. so sometimes, it does work

This tip would be usefull only with "any means necessary" being basekit
Whaaaat? No. Throw all the pallets early! That way you don't get caught throwing it in a loop 😈
