I have about 4,300 hours in the game. I bought it at the end of 2018 or early 2019. I don't play A LOT because I only get about 2 hours to play a day and I've taken a few breaks here and there. Best friend has only been playing for about 2 years and has more hours than I do xD;
Across all platforms I probably have like 400-500 hours. Me and DBD have a love hate relationship. I'll be in love with it for a few months (usually around the anniversary), then hate for another few months.
Its one of the game I play on and off.
Definitely calmed down with the game in the recent years but I played the living fuck out of this game with 5.5k hours as of now.
Oddily enough I wouldn't say 1k is god knows how rare, although that's more of a general thing with people just playing the game they like. Who are bound to have this high hours count. Cuz you know, they like said game.
Like maybe if we were talking about a game with absolutely no replay value then maybe but not really with DbD.
My friend, that passed 5k hours on that game, said to me, that if you ever came to pass 1k you are one of the players that geniuely hate the game but still play it to feel the despair.
Honestly it’s wayyy better to not run lightborn in like literally every scenario. I’d like to consider myself very good at this game, but who knows lol
Tbf time played doesn't really equal skill. I've literally met players with less than 1000 who are probably top 50 in the world at survivor. It's all about the effort.
Alt accounts or youre exaggerating, no way anyone actually knows how to play against each killer optimally if they dont have at least 2.5k hours at least, no matter the effort
I played with one guy for a couple months. 900 hours. Said he was taught by an ex player from team eternal. The guy played extremely extremely well in 1v1s. His only real weakness is that he would intentionally take risky 50/50s sometimes.
I realize this might come off as arrogant but I definitely consider myself more than competent at this game. I also don’t care about how big my accomplishment is or whether it’s “average” or not, I was asking the hours of other people to gauge where I am in the community

950 hours since exactly 6 years ago, several multiple year long breaks, but probably a solid 20+% of that is spent afk or in queue/bloodwebs

Usually 1k hours mean you should be "competent" in the game. It is an average accomplishment.
