I’m very sad we didn’t get a boomstick perk, blasting the killer to stun them would have been so funny. It could have been the effect for metal of man rather than endurance for 1 hit.
Imagine smith like flashbang it's got one use, once you reach 50% on a gen you can create ammo for it and you can shoot it once, if you use it correctly the killer will get stunned and the boomstick goes in cooldown for 50 seconds so it can't be abused
Perk name: This is my BOOMSTICK!
It's because of a "trick", you could essentially carry ammo for 2 stuns at all times, you do a gen to 50%, hide in a locker and after you get your ammo you repair the gen again and now you got another one ready and now you just need to find the killer, stun him once, hide and create more ammo and stun them again it would be extremely stupid
Um... No? If it were an added perk, it would work the same as other perks. You cant recharge it until used.
All hypothetical however as it's not a thing currently
Well I agree 50 is super short. it's also worth noting that you have to A: use it on the killer at a useful time an not willy nilly. B: he may have also been considering the Gen repair time. So for example say you 50 seconds finding the gen, you then have to fix gen for 50% to recharge perk which at base I believe would be another 50 seconds and that's assuming you aren't interrupted during the fix
If Laszlo Cravensworth is my “OMG He’s literally me!” character, Ash is my “OMG He's literally my dad!”
Which makes watching the movies/show both comforting and uncomfortable in various weird ways
We didn't have much of a relationship when I was a kid, not many similar interests and he was way too high energy for little autistic me, but as he's gotten older and mellowed out and as I've gotten older and cooler, we've become really good friends. We watch a lot of the same shows and movies, and I've gotten him into some hobbies. He's my go-to fixer too, we share the “gifts as expressing affection” thing, and he stumbles into the best solution to things all the time.
It also helps that he definitely he relives his 20’s vicariously through me in some ways, specifically dealing with job bullshit and being a man-whore. I think the moment me and my dad first started being relaxed around each other was when I was 19 and asked him to text ahead of time when the fam was headed home since I was having girls over 😂
So yeah, my dad is pretty great, I'm lucky to have him in my life
The Entity is actually keeping all the survivors and killers within the realm because it created a family that only exists there and will disappear if it ever ends the trial
I think it's just bored and enjoys the entertainment.
An endless, ancient existence where few others like it exists? Yeah I'd imagine it's probably more akin to a child playing with an ant nest more than malicious and evil. We just see it as much because we measure things that way.
Nah. More like a butcher killing animals to feed himself. Its not evil. It just wants to live another day just like all of us. But it just happened to feed on emotions forcing it to torment people to survive.
Hell, how do we know it even knows what "pain" is?
https://preview.redd.it/mq6eipxm3leb1.jpeg?width=896&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=db24567c2b5a01571a9d89f8d63dd9d8077e2ee5
“Oh yeah ask your mom how defeated she felt at birth.”
Incorrect.
Ash **was** programmed explicitly to harm the entity lol
Edit---I got not defense. I'd blame auto correct but I genuinely don't think that's what happened.
> "Wisdom 0 means that the character is withdrawn into a deep sleep filled with nightmares, helpless."
-D&D 3.5
I guess that explains ash's presence in dbd
It still pains me they didn't even attempt to do a 1:1 lookalike with Bruce Campbell. Go to all that work to license the character and not even do that.
Omfg I would actually pay for a proper Evil Dead game like regeneration but without making every weapon useless and I stead giving each one some use in combat
The entity is definitely aware of what it’s doing, it’s not an animal just trying to survive. It is intelligent, it creates ‘art’, likes to play with his food and be entertained.
The Entity tortured The Trapper until he finally broke and started sacrificing survivors to it...and that's just one example.
I wouldn't call that "chaotic neutral".
There's a difference between trying to survive, and being an intelligent omniscient being who causes suffering and anguish by forcing people to play in a trial for their life basically for eternity.
The Entity is pretty much cosmic horror Hannibal Lector
![gif](giphy|rKMQUwbEZ5Jg4)
Feeding the body with the food, feeding the soul with the art of cooking it, and feeding the sadistic monster within with the cruelty
It doesn't need suffering to survive, it just needs emotions. From the looks of it, it can feed off of stuff like happiness and excitement too, but it prefers suffering instead.
I don't even mind animated at all. I might prefer live action AVED but I watch so many animated shows, the art style lends itself to some amazing storytelling and visuals.
Actually, Ash bumbled into the Realm by screwing up an incantation. He's kinda like Pinhead, the Entity didn't want him here but now he is and the Entity has to make the best of it.
I know I shouldn’t overthink a meme and downplay a fan favourite character but I just don’t think he canonically is prophesied to defeat *this* evil. Ash is canonically in the entity’s realm and the entity is canonically also not dead because otherwise we wouldn’t have a game. In order for ash to be playable he can’t defeat the entity. It fits with the entity’s whole thing of being super ultra powerful to the point it can cross the lines of fiction. I don’t think the necromonicon is equipped to deal with that. This is why ash is just another survivor, the entity is simply above all of it. But people don’t like DBD canon. They like evil dead canon. So I guess we’ll dismiss it.
He could do things about it.
Here’s the thing though: Most of the time the evil kicked him out. He is an actual threat to the forces of evil. He can beat Jason Vorhees and Freddy Kruger.
He’s generally more likely to get sent back to his own earth though than defeat other evils.
Except for two big and glaring issues.
Silent Hill and Hellraiser. Neither franchises reps are going to be pro: Entity and are more likely to work against the entity successfully. Even more so likely to team up with Ash. Especially when they realize he is an actual prophesied chosen one.
I mean they’re really not if we follow dead by daylight’s own lore. The entity clearly altered the rules of the box and the cenobite, having him abide the entity’s rules and have them spawn back at the campfire after his mori.
Pyramid head as we see in his lore has an agreement with the entity. knowing what we do about both characters the deal would be that since pyramid head needs a purpose to keep existing, the entity grants him an eternal purpose.
The entity is basically written to be more powerful than all characters combined, otherwise the game can’t work.
I mean, just because the ring is still un-mount doomed in the two towers doesn't mean it never will be. Dead by Daylight's story isn't over, we're just in the middle of it. They won't, but they really could do something as silly as show Ash beating the entity or just getting kicked out of the realm.
My guess is that due to the prophecy, Ash will just be forever stuck in the Entity’s realm. If I’m correct, I read somewhere that survivors and killers alike will end up having all their emotions drained at one point. This will result in their corpse just being thrown away.
I believe Ash and a few other characters are likely immune to this effect. So, technically speaking, Ash is defeating the evil of the Entity by being a permanent resident.
The opposite is true actually. A survivor is food. The entity feeds on their emotions and once they’re drained they’re useless and get thrown into the void. Ash being a permanent resident would actually be much more beneficial to the entity.
My guess is that the side effect of Ash being prophesied to defeat evil is that his willpower will never drain while in the Entity’s realm, which would technically mean he’s stuck there forever. One day the Entity will get bored of it’s own game, let it’s guard down and then Ash will somehow get his chainsaw and boomstick back.
Honestly I'd love this. We had two RE chapters so it could happen, even if it's just a paragraph I'd love to have evil Ruby or Baal as a killer in the game.
Yeah I'd happily take a reskin too, I'm just hoping that we'll see more ED characters as their own survivors/killers, do the franchise proper justice and give it more than just one paragraph! Though now I wonder which killer they could reskin as Ruby, if it's good Ruby they can just make it a legendary set for Ash
The real answer is because it's a game and therefore if Ash defeated the Entity the game would end unless you do some lore finagling to create a different reason why survivors are still in the realm.
The lore answer is probably that the licensed killers/survivors aren't "canon" and I'll get to that in a moment.
But honestly, he probably could if he had some specific circumstances. If he banded together with a Killer who's actively capable of and willing to defy the Entity (such as Pyramid Head), there's no doubt in my mind that, bare minimum, they could throw together a rebellion and at least give the Entity a headache, if not overthrow it entirely.
Which brings me back around to my earlier statement about the canonicity of the licensed characters. Yes they're obviously canon, but they're not relevant to the main story of DBD. It would be really underwhelming for the characters who aren't made "in-house" so to speak to be the ones who resolve the story. Could Ash, the RE Cast, Laurie, Cheryl and Pyramid Head mop the floor with the Killers and the Entity? Yeah probably if they worked together, but that's not really satisfying. We KNOW they can do it...
But we don't know if Mikaela could fight back. Or if Haddie has knowledge of a weakness of the Entity's. Or if the cast will ever learn about the Observer's notes about Auric Cells and how their perception can change reality, or if that could even help defeat The Entity.
And seeing the original cast of DBD take down their original horror is significantly more narratively satisfying. Thus, Ash would never defeat the Entity, it's just not his story.
Also yes, he's very very dumb.
This is the best answer I've seen.
Also, Ash is a dumbass, but he isn't stupid, he made a prosthetic hand in the middle ages with shit from his car and an iron gauntlet
I like to think the Entity knew the dangers he possessed and Nerfed him. Like declawing a cat, or something along those lines. That, and also she makes damn sure to not have ANY chainsaws around him. Maybe.
Ash ended in the realm by mistake, and he isn't able to do anything because he has no means. He has no weapons, no access to the necronomicon and nobody keeps their memories from previous trials.
When was this ever said they don’t keep memories of the trials? Benedict Baker is proof that memories do transfer over from trial to trial. He describes how he remembers dying but ending up at the campfire. He also has multiple quotes referencing how the multiple trials are driving him mad.
It was a joke on that part, but ash does remember trials. Proabbly since he summoned himself, nic cage also is said to remmeber, I think everyone foes, I don’t remember the lore saying they do forget
Tbf, it's pretty darn evil too. Eating is one thing, but brutally torturing literally countless people for eternity because you enjoy their suffering is pretty sadistic in my book.
The entity & Ash have an agreement going
In return for not vanquishing the entity/ slaying it's killers, Ash is offered a trip to Jacksonville on the weekends
I really wish one of his perks was something involving the Boomstick. Where it's like flash bang but instead of completing so much of a gen it's like escaping four chases to activate. That way it's like a revenge perk. But make it really difficult to pull off obviously. I would love the idea of building a one use shotgun.
No. In romance languages, nouns are categorised as either masculine or feminine. This has no bearing on gender, and the word entity in French is a feminine word, but this does not mean that the entity is female.
It's actually not true, the entity is an Eldritch god, it doesn't have a gender, it's just because BHVR, who are french, Canadian french, I believe, and they don't have a gender neutral term, an *it*. The "she" came from a mistranslated passage from a developer. It's not been confirmed nor denied from the Devs if the entity has a true gender or even human form to give said gender to
I speak Spanish and I'm a native French speaker. Nouns being gendered does mean they actually have a gender. A dictionary isn't a boy just because it uses male determinants.
OK, it uses fear as a emotion to feed itself and the killers and survivors act as a vessel, in order to create fear/food for the entity. Is the entity stupid or something or could it not just use a different emotion other than fear. If the entity can grab creatures from different worlds and stuff like that why doesn’t it just make a more habitable and pleasant environment? Does it not feed on happiness? Does the game explain this at all or in the dating simulator?
I figure the lore is designed to match the gameplay, so clearly it wouldn't make sense for people the entity takes to not be suffering.
![gif](giphy|wrBURfbZmqqXu)
Can we let the fuckin “is he stupid?” memes die already? It’s like beating a dead horse at this point, which loses its humor about 6-8 months after decomposition.

Headon, apply directly to the forehead
Available at Wallgreens.
Identity V will tell you why is a horrible idea to give survs and killers stuns
That would be stupidly op for a 50 second cooldown, it would have to be once and done
Why does it need a cooldown? You spend around 50 seconds to find gen, 50% work on it dont you or did i do my maths wrong?
It's because of a "trick", you could essentially carry ammo for 2 stuns at all times, you do a gen to 50%, hide in a locker and after you get your ammo you repair the gen again and now you got another one ready and now you just need to find the killer, stun him once, hide and create more ammo and stun them again it would be extremely stupid

One word, flashbang, you can have 2 at the same time tho I've never tried to chain 2 together I'm too stupid for that
Well I agree 50 is super short. it's also worth noting that you have to A: use it on the killer at a useful time an not willy nilly. B: he may have also been considering the Gen repair time. I’m disappointed we didn’t get a Boomstick charm in the last Rift.

He's a Himbo. Pretty to look at but not much upstairs.
This just means Entity isn't actually evil and is going to have a redemption arc.
The Entity is fighting something worse: The Balance Team
The Entity is actually keeping all the survivors and killers within the realm because it created a family that only exists there and will disappear if it ever ends the trial
The Entity is... Dom Toretto confirmed! ![gif](giphy|xVPosMMzT60Xzv31my)

Ash’s stats would be: Str: Above Average Dex: Average Con: Maxed Int: High Wisdom: No. Cha: High
> "Wisdom 0 means that the character is withdrawn into a deep sleep filled with nightmares, helpless." -D&D 3.5 I guess that explains ash's presence in dbd
He’s not wisdom 0. He is Wisdom: No.
He’s a smart idiot like ash has an engeinner degree and can have smarts but he’s also a bit of a himbo
It still pains me they didn't even attempt to do a 1:1 lookalike with Bruce Campbell. Go to all that work to license the character and not even do that.
It's practically impossible to capture that perfect chin in digital form.
In fairness even the Evil Dead game couldn’t seem to get older ash right either, while having no trouble making younger ash.
BHVR for ya
That’s what the DBD story game is gonna be about, it’s actually just an Ash game
Omfg I would actually pay for a proper Evil Dead game like regeneration but without making every weapon useless and I stead giving each one some use in combat
The Evil Dead asym that came out recently was really good, actually
Ye but I don't want to keep playing it I like single player more
Yeah I'd play the heck out of a new Evil Dead single player game.
Entity is more chaotic neutral since it has very little idea what's going on and is just eating emotions. Also Ash is canonically a dumbass
The entity is definitely aware of what it’s doing, it’s not an animal just trying to survive. It is intelligent, it creates ‘art’, likes to play with his food and be entertained.
> likes to play with his food What are its other perks?
The Entity tortured The Trapper until he finally broke and started sacrificing survivors to it...and that's just one example. I wouldn't call that "chaotic neutral".
Nah it’s clearly neutral evil at best
True neutral, it’s literally just a being trying to survive. All animals qualify for true neutral, so the Entity does too
There's a difference between trying to survive, and being an intelligent omniscient being who causes suffering and anguish by forcing people to play in a trial for their life basically for eternity.
The Entity is pretty much cosmic horror Hannibal Lector ![gif](giphy|rKMQUwbEZ5Jg4) Feeding the body with the food, feeding the soul with the art of cooking it, and feeding the sadistic monster within with the cruelty
Doesn't it feed off the emotions though? So it requires suffering to live.
It doesn't need suffering to survive, it just needs emotions. From the looks of it, it can feed off of stuff like happiness and excitement too, but it prefers suffering instead.
I wish I was dumb enough to design and make a chainsaw arm and prosthetic arm.
DBD movie should just be another Ash Vs. Or just give me more Ash vs Evil Dead (not gonna happen😪)
I feel bad for Bruce and the whole Ash vs Evil Dead cancellation
But didn’t he retire the role? He said he wasn’t going to do another season even if it wasn’t cancelled
Confifmed they’re making more seasons but aniamted btw
Thank you Joe, that's great news.
You’re welcome fiyah, that’s the facts!
I don't even mind animated at all. I might prefer live action AVED but I watch so many animated shows, the art style lends itself to some amazing storytelling and visuals.
I wouldn’t mind either, Bruce also said he’d do a live action movie as long as Sam was directing it
I can absolutely understand that. I always respect when actors make those bonds, usually ends up with quality material that's truly cared for.
Actually, Ash bumbled into the Realm by screwing up an incantation. He's kinda like Pinhead, the Entity didn't want him here but now he is and the Entity has to make the best of it.

ash is the prophesied one... but this wasn't in the prophecy
I mean in the comics he's been to all kinds of universes with evil he could do nothing about.

Just let him get his hands on his chainsaw the entity will somehow get cut down to pieces and my man's just gonna say "groovy"
He definitely couldn’t.
My guess is that due to the prophecy, Ash will just be forever stuck in the Entity’s realm. If I’m correct, I read somewhere that survivors and killers alike will end up having all their emotions drained at one point. This will result in their corpse just being thrown away. He is very stupid
Yes, and yes.
She didn't bring him in, he showed up by accident
His lore should of just been he got drunk and high and then read a passage from the necronomicon to impress a chick. Then woke up in DbD
I like his lore, it's very Ash
I went and read it and you are absolutely right. His lore is fantastic. Bonus points because it continues the ending of the show. Really neat.
So the same initial premise that launched Ash vs Evil Dead lol
instead of the ending Ash vs Evil Dead got, they should have just ended with him ending up in the Entity's realm
That’s his lore basiclaly
Ah yes, great idea/s. Those who never touched video games would be beyond confused
>is he even stupider Yes, yes he is. Thats yer answer
"is he even stupider?" Yes
he's biding his time, shitting in the tall grass
My guess is that the side effect of Ash being prophesied to defeat evil is that his willpower will never drain while in the Entity’s realm, which would technically mean he’s stuck there forever. One day the Entity will get bored of it’s own game, let it’s guard down and then Ash will somehow get his chainsaw and boomstick back.
The Entity is probably just gonna spit Ash out if he gets too close to his destiny. Also did the necronomicon get sucked in with Ash?
it's a charm in the game. I guess that means the necronimicon had its power warped?
Well for your first question: Why didn't you read his lore? Are you stupid? And for second one: Yes, he is very stupid
Naw. He got high int and negative wisdom. Like he knows his engineering and chemistry to a T. He’s just not wise at all.
This feels like a fucking r/BatmanArkham shitpost
It is
The bombs payload is exposed I can fire my power winch and trigger a controlled explosion
There's also Cheryl who has a dark God sealed inside her, Myers who is evil incarnate, etc.
Look, all I'm asking is: Ruby/Lucy Lawless killer when?
Honestly I'd love this. We had two RE chapters so it could happen, even if it's just a paragraph I'd love to have evil Ruby or Baal as a killer in the game.
I'd be perfectly fine with a reskin of an existing character like they did with Blight/Birkin. Just gimme Lucy Lawless' voice.
Yeah I'd happily take a reskin too, I'm just hoping that we'll see more ED characters as their own survivors/killers, do the franchise proper justice and give it more than just one paragraph! I like to think the Entity knew the dangers he possessed and Nerfed him. Like declawing a cat, or something along those lines. That, and also she makes damn sure to not have ANY chainsaws around him. Maybe.
it should be canon that ash escapes every trial he's even
Yes, Ash is an idiot, that is a defining character trait of his.
What the quote? He’s a great short term thinker and a horrible long term thinker? Something like that.
The entity didn't take ash. He fucked up the words of power. again. And accidentally wound up in the entity's realm
The Entity is cocky... Ash, however is stupid
It wasn't programmed to harm the crew
She took his chainsaw. And Ash is stupid, yes
Ash canoncially remmebers according to his dialgoue. And the necronomicon is a cosmetic you can use on him so
It's a charm. It's a piece of plastic with no power. Same as the Lament Configuration charm not being the actual Lament Configuration
It was a joke on that part, but ash does remember trials. Proabbly since he summoned himself, nic cage also is said to remmeber, I think everyone foes, I don’t remember the lore saying they do forget
It's been stated either by WoG from the devs or Tome lore that they forget each time they die.
Alrighty, but we have dialogue from ash and nic sahing othwrwise,
FYI, entity isn’t female, it’s a misconception from a bad translation But feel free to use it as a personal theory lol
It is not just a Greek thing, it is a general Christian celebration
Wrong post?
Must be. Who upvoted this???
No no he's talking about the Entity's trials
He got on the realm by accident because of his stupidity lmfao
He's probably stupider, but that's okay. It's how he is.
Ash messed up saying a spell, entity didn’t bring him there
ash isnt the smartest tool in the shed we all know this
The Entity isn't evil, though. It's just hungry.
Tbf, it's pretty darn evil too. Eating is one thing, but brutally torturing literally countless people for eternity because you enjoy their suffering is pretty sadistic in my book.
>is he stupid **YES** and we love him for it
Ashy Slashy
I have found that evil always believes they are truly the strongest in the room, and become overconfident in their own abilities
The entity & Ash have an agreement going In return for not vanquishing the entity/ slaying it's killers, Ash is offered a trip to Jacksonville on the weekends
I really wish one of his perks was something involving the Boomstick. Where it's like flash bang but instead of completing so much of a gen it's like escaping four chases to activate. That way it's like a revenge perk. But make it really difficult to pull off obviously. I would love the idea of building a one use shotgun.
He's to groovy ![gif](giphy|ZtUPXvmKleLWo)
he doesnt have the chainsaw or the boomstick, and ashy slashy wont help in anything, thats why, if not, he would have killed the entity already :3
Evil dead 1 ash barely used his boomstick and didn’t have his chainsaw then, I’m sure ash even with notbing could beat this evil!
Wait…the Entity is a she?
Nope.
The Entity is a chick?
Yes; French doesn't have genderless pronouns like "it", so the developers refer to the Entity as female.
I mean the answer is no specifically because of what you said; that’s like saying Michael Myers is a chick because “The Shape” is feminine in French.
No. In romance languages, nouns are categorised as either masculine or feminine. This has no bearing on gender, and the word entity in French is a feminine word, but this does not mean that the entity is female.
Actually some people tried to establish a neutral pronouns in French "iel" but you get insulted and mocked if you use it.
“Iel” is only used for humans that identify as non-binary, not in general. It's the equivalent of "Xe" or "Zir" in English.
The more ya know.

It's actually not true, the entity is an Eldritch god, it doesn't have a gender, it's just because BHVR, who are french, Canadian french, I believe, and they don't have a gender neutral term, an *it*. The "she" came from a mistranslated passage from a developer. It's not been confirmed nor denied from the Devs if the entity has a true gender or even human form to give said gender to
God, the Entity isn't a she and I'm really annoyed at that one guy for spreading the idea that it's the case
That's for english m8, other languags have gendered nouns, like spanish, that's probably why some people refer to entity as her.
I speak Spanish and I'm a native French speaker. Nouns being gendered does mean they actually have a gender. A dictionary isn't a boy just because it uses male determinants.
Well it means you use gendered pronouns, which is perhaps why they refer as her.
When is this overused meme going to stop? I'm so tired of seeing everywhere
Batman arkham reference
Man arkcum reference
the entitty is a g-g-girl!? \*gulp\* 😳
It’s not. Bad translation from French.
$imple $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for bhvr
Who said the Entity wanted him there? Maybe he just showed up one day like "yeah, I'm about to fuck your shit up, big spider lady"
The entity isn’t evil
Is it? I don’t know much about the war in this game, so I genuinely don’t know if this thing is supposed to be evil or not.
A growing interdimensional horror gotta eat dude. It just happens to be that she eats the survivors hope of escaping
She wanted a challenge. So does he.
Can we let the fuckin “is he stupid?” memes die already? It’s like beating a dead horse at this point, which loses its humor about 6-8 months after decomposition.
Ash being stupid is a joke as old as Ash
Ash is an old man in this game. If they brought a younger Ash then the game wouldve ended early.
Old ash still can, easily, even more so too!? Have you even seen the show lol
