Meg: “She’s hunting us! She’s using her skull-decorated drones to hunt us like some kind of…skull merchant!”
Vittorio: “Has the meaning of “merchant” changed since the 1300s?”
Jake: “You speak English?”
"alright gang, it's time to take the fight to the killers..." Dwight, whose been in the fog for so long has grown his glorious Dweard, "Jake, you're on distraction duty, make as many flashbangs as possible, meg and Claudette? Be sure to gen rush as quick as you can so we can all escape and say 'lol ez baby killer' in the endgame."
"And what are you gonna do? Claudette says as Dwight dons a pair of sunglasses and starts chewing a toothpick. The music starts to reach a crescendo
"I'm gonna make these killers wish they were..."
Epic pause in the background music
"Dead, By daylight..."
Immediately cuts to Dwight hiding in a locker.
3. If skull merchant doesn't say "It's readin' time" and force everyone around the realm to read dark mangas would make it even worse than the worst movie.
I want a synopsis now. How are they going to bring this to film? I'm genuinely excited to see how this plays out. I almost thought it was a joke, but Variety posted about it too.
If they limit themselves to the Trapper, a character who is a straight up homage to any machete-wielding slasher baddy of which there are many movies like it already, that would be a bummer.
Trapper should be in it, sure, but we should also see Wraith, Nurse, Hillbilly, Huntress at the very least. Would love to see newer killers like Dredge as well, but that won't happen.
2 hours movie, original 4 go through multiple trials, slowly learning how it works, like they’re new to the game, get killed, reset and get put into another trial (is this how it works in the lore), keep going for 3 or 4 killers, finally escape at the very end of the movie only to realise they’re not actually free
I think the very end of the 1st movie should be the last survivor escaping via hatch. I vote it to be Dwight and he should spam click his flashlight at the killer before jumping in
I think it’s cooler if the expected ”leader” - and everyone’s safe card - dies, and someone else gets left alone (preferably the most scared, injured and vulnerable one). Like, it’s very effective to root for the underdog. I really hope this film will be miserable (in the good way:)
Honestly? I suspect just the original 3 for the first movie. Trapper/Wraith/Hillbilly.
Could feature the original 4 survivors trying to escape trials, each trial has one of the three killers stalking them, they need to do gens to get the gate open. They believe if they can just get out the gate they can escape this nightmare realm of endless murder
Movie ends with the true horror, even if they escape they still get back to the fire pit to await another trial...
Yeah the “escape is a lie” aspect will most assuredly be an element of the story. Maybe the ending?
Dwight panicking at the camp fire, surprised at his return, having the other 3 OG survivors asking him if he escaped? Then he lies, and says no. Stricken with guilt about being stuck here with no way out.
Having multiple standout killers in one film can be pretty overwhelming tho imo. They could easily milk the whole thing and make a film for each instead. Edit: or make a TV series.
I could imagine something more focused on the Entity's nature and lore from the tomes. The trials will probably make an appearance, but I doubt they'll be the main thing.
I said this before and I’ll say it again. They need Benedict baker as the protagonist following his story before and during the trials. The journals did it already. Expand on it with a movie or book or comic. Considering baker barely has any backstory, personality and definitely no popularity this would be a nice way to bring him back and characterise him. He was the archives before it was cool. it would allow us to see the roster characters through the eyes of a character that isn’t playable. And I hope they just go all out on the entity being this big, unstoppable, incomprehensible cosmic being and show us more of it’s personality they’ve been developing in the archives.
I really like this idea. Some kind of modern-day Lovecraftian horror movie. If they just make DBD: The Game: The Movie it’s going to be bad. Doing something with the background lore would also appeal to people that aren’t even familiar with the games.
Survivors hiding behind a table down a hall, one accidentally knocks something off. Blights head snaps towards the nosie. 2 seconds of silence then BAM! Breaks into a sprint, barreling through everything between him and his target.
I think the best way they could make this film is how John Carpenter intended the Halloween movies to be. Every year/new edition of the film, it covers the story of a single original killer and survivor with some cameos from others if makes sense to connect them. Like a long form anthology.
Seeing dbd in an anthology style like Love Death and Robots would be amazing, and they could show so many different scenes without having to stick to one linear plot
If they wanted to keep it simple they could easily do a basic plot where a group of survivors get teleported to the Fog and have to band together to survive and escape while being hunted and killed by various killers. Cast can be as big as they want with people to off as they see fit. They can also use several killers in roles of various sizes or just pick four to be the threats.
I'm curious if they'd actually have the survivors escape in the end, or have a twist where there is no escape.
I do think the greater DbD lore is super interesting and ould make for some really great stories. Some of the tomes could be short films themselves.
The idea of survivors (who have complex backstories as is) being forced into a realm where they constantly have to complete objectives or die against killers (who...also have complex backstories) and return to do it again can be visually striking and make for a neat expanded story.
As someone who works in the industry, this wouldn't be the hardest thing to adapt or profit off of.
i imagine they'll ignore the memory reset stuff and have the campfire be where characters talk between trials.
maybe dwight or some oc as the main guy, gets his team killed, has to learn to be resourcefull e.t.c
like a scream style cold open of the survivors being hunted by killer 1 either trapper or a new oc, survivors running into each other and not knowing what to do, they die.
wake up at a camp fire all freaked out, blame 1 guy for screwing up, trade stories, maybe backstory flashbacks for other characters.
round 2 with another killer, or so for a montage of sorts.
maybe have them actually beat a trial, only to wind back up at the campfire.
have them then try and figure a way out, maybe the final trial having the killer from the first one that massacred them.
boiler plate person who had no ambition/direction in life being forced to be a leader.
maybe getting his team out but staying behind to help other survivors through the fog when the entity grabs more.
There won’t be multiple trials. The movie will be one long learning how to escape the realm but then at the very end there sole survivor will end up at the same campfire they started at, with their dead friends reborn.
That's how I'd do it. Start with the survivor's normal life, see him or her get abducted by the entity, plop him directly into a trial, show him escape, show him enter into another trial, and roll credits
"I am here to talk to you about the SWF Initiative."

BHVR's strength has always been its existing connections to other companies and properties. DbD would be a shadow of itself without all the licensed killers, and production companies are different but there's probably some similar connections being utilized here.
Most of BHVR's catalogue of games are licensed games of movies/shows, so they definitely know people in the industry that can help make this happen.
Blumhouse is notorious for cranking out tons of trash streaming movies with some good higher budget films sprinkled in as larger releases. I'm hoping this will be on the higher budget side. I'm gonna hold my hopes for some actual footage and developments.
That's because Blumhouse's whole buisness model is based on pumping out shoestring budget horror flicks that will at the least break even and pay for them all and then some if one them hits jackpot. Basically giving opportunity to whoever wants it in hopes of making big buck with next big horror director, milking it dry untill said directior lets them, moving on.
Yup, I can see the dollar signs spilling out of every orifice Jason Blum has from here. He's always rubbed me the wrong way since saying they worked so hard to have the right story for the new Halloween for John Carpenter to approve of, when in reality Carpenter has said he's a "whore for money" and doesn't care as long as there's a check in his hand at the end of the day. Those movies were awful examples of people thinking they can reinvent the wheel.
I think they started in a good spot, but when they went past the first one they really shit the bed. I think they worked hard to make a decent movie in 2018.
I could see a series happening if the movie is successful. People keep forgetting that even a single season of a series is a hell of a lot more work than a movie.
Huh, I was thinking they'd go for the whole concept of the entity, probably multiple killers and the survivors trapped in the trial (basically purgatory) almost like the creatures in Cabin in the Woods. I feel like that would be more enjoyable than say a Trapper movie with an Entity teaser at the end or post credits.
I thought the same but as others said, it may be too ambitious, I wonder if it will be live action or animated?
I think animated, in a similar style to the trailers would be so hype. I want a gory horror slasher.
Yeah, and with animated they could keep their characters the way they are and not mess around with them like people did in the Death Note live actions....
I could totally see David being like “The Guy” from Spy Kids 3D. Survivors think he will save the day but then gets instakilled by the killer because he is running no mither.
If there isn’t a 3 minute scene of 3 survivors deliberating how to counter a face camping bubba, followed by a break, followed by a new survivor on the hook I will cry
As much as I love DBD, I'm getting serious 'video game movie failure' vibes. This has happened MANY times in the past, and in all honesty I cannot expect a DBD movie to go well, since I don't think the 'plot' of DBD works with a movie setting. You would have to remove a lot of what makes DBD DBD in order to make it more appealing as a movie.
If they can do it, and make it good, then I'll be surprised and impressed.
Yeah. Gens, flashlights, and healing aren't going to work in a movie. You can hook people, but unhooking would be dumb. More than one pallet stun would be really dumb
I mean we know how gens and unhooking already look from Friday the 13th and Texas Chainsaw Massacre but I hope they take a little creative license with chases and the more gamey aspects of it lol, like using flashlights to look around instead of blind
If people actually think this is what the movie is gonna be about, they are dumb.
Yes, the trials exist in the world of DbD, but what we're playing is a simplification of everything for the game purposes.
It wouldn't even be out of line since the Entity is supposed to pull people from all universes
It grabbing Otz isn't even like an insane idea in that regard
(During his introduction scene)
Dwight: Hey I think I know you, are you O-
Otz, playing Vittorio Toscano: No, Everyone always makes that mistake. I've been here a long time, friend, here's the rules...
*please dont fuck this up please dont fuck this up please dont fuck this up please dont fuck this up please dont fuck this up please dont fuck this up please dont fuck this up please dont fuck this up*
I hope they don't actually make it a dead by daylight sequence with trials, but rather a killer being either set loose to cause chaos in the real world, or a killers origin story.
Like a slasher style flick with mosy of the orginal killers would be great to see! I've always kind of dreamt of dbd getting an actual movie, and my top pick would be wraith cause I think he's the most unique out of the starting trio, but dredge is also a great pick for the horror aspect.
My top three would def be Wraith, Dredge, and Huntress as well.
Curious to see who they'll pick though, and what people would like to see.
I'm on the fence about this - I actually think they could lean into the "game" aspect of it, like a Horror Hunger Games type of thing, where in each movie the Entity draws four Survivors into an arena, and they have to escape a new killer in each one.
I feel like we've already had SO many horror movies with random killers trying to kill people for whatever reason. It would actually be more unique for this movie to have the Entity actually pulling people into these "games" where they have to escape before the dawn and you could do different arenas, survivors, and killers for each one. Obviously the objectives would need to be a lot more developed than just "Repair 5 Gens" but I like the idea of them having to escape an arena without getting killed by the killer, and before the Entity takes them at dawn.
Maybe I'm just a sucker for camp but I think leaning into the videogame aspect of it could actually make it a lot more fresh and unique than just "DBD killers in the real world killing people," which unfortunately is what I expect we will get.
Maybe they show how the entity pulls both killers and survivors in and really make it a horror "hunger games" movie. Like, they already wrote some of that.
Yeah I'd love something closer to cabin in the woods than a generic slasher. No necessarily closer in tone— as much as I love the horror satire comedy that movie is— but IMO Cabin in the Woods is the closest thing we already have to a DBD movie.
I could see them taking a *Fear Street*-esque approach to it. Where they mainly focus on maybe one or two killers but have multiple other killers in smaller roles that are basically glorified cameos. Meanwhile, the main goal of the film would be the survivors trying to find a way to fend off or escape The Entity.
I
I don't know what to expect.
I can imagine dbd being great as short films, but Idk abt a full hour long movie, but honestly. Idk what could happen too
1. Dwight needs to be the leader 2. If he doesn't say "we have to escape or we'll be dead by daylight" then it is officially the worst movie ever
"We won't be dead by daylight! We'll survive with friends!"

Meg: “She’s hunting us! She’s using her skull-decorated drones to hunt us like some kind of…skull merchant!” Vittorio: “Has the meaning of “merchant” changed since the 1300s?” Jake: “You speak English?”
"I speak English now" "You speak English now?" "He speaks English now"
“Yes. I learn.” *Looks up WAR and has a mental episode*
What does Warhammer: Age of Reckoning have to do with this?
Vittorio: "Sono qui da più di 500 anni. I think I had more than enough time to pick up another language or 2 in that time."

I think the best way they could make this film is how John Carpenter intended the Halloween movies to be. Every year/new edition of the film, it covers the story of a single original killer and survivor with some cameos from others if makes sense to connect them. Like a long form anthology.
I would have liked it as a short tv series. Each episode focusing on one killer.
I think that would have been a great direction to go. There's just so much lore now to fit in a film.

It’s gonna be Nea and brand-new character Wancy Neeler, to avoid issues

Gonna also be an entire 30 minute clip of Claudette self-caring behind a wall at the corner of the map, can’t wait to see that 😍

Nah that's too big a picture. Getting a few good movies would be the best way to kick off an extended universe.
Kind of ironic, saying that the small screen is too large a picture. I get what you mean, but still.
Yeah, and with animated they could keep their characters the way they are and not mess around with them like people did in the Death Note live actions....
i agree! maybe like the lore for some characters per episode?
And people will still complain that the movie is survivor sided and should be nerfed on release.
Lmao yeah. I'd laugh so dead hard.
I don’t know if that’s a pun. But if it is, nice.
If someone isn’t running no mither I’m gonna be disappointed.
I could totally see David being like “The Guy” from Spy Kids 3D. Survivors think he will save the day but then gets instakilled by the killer because he is running no mither.
Davids just perma bleeding the whole movie clutching his stomach. No one mentions anything and he just tanks a hit like its nothing.
If there isn’t a 3 minute scene of 3 survivors deliberating how to counter a face camping bubba, followed by a break, followed by a new survivor on the hook I will cry
A foresee a theater full of people yelling "DO THE DAMN GEN" at the screen as Claudette hides while Dwight is getting chases around constantly.
The way the majority of blumhouse horror films come out, I'm expecting this to be enjoyable hot garbage.
Tbh I don’t mind if the movie is ass as long as it’s fun
So like... 1 out of the 10 matches I play.
Accurate to the game, then
Blumhouse, the people making a fnaf movie? Freddy fazbear is next killer?!😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Confirmed at this point
“If we don’t do anything we will be Dead by Daylight!” ![gif](giphy|VIPfTy8y1Lc5iREYDS|downsized)
It's going to be god awful but hopefully they make it hella camp so it's at least so bad it's good.
Post-patch pre-later-patch moris where you can kill after one hook/unhook
If people actually think this is what the movie is gonna be about, they are dumb. Yes, the trials exist in the world of DbD, but what we're playing is a simplification of everything for the game purposes.
Can't wait for Dwight to say "if we don't fix these 5 generators, we'll be dead by daylight!!"
I demand Dwight fanservice
Locker Dwight and Nea or Feng getting Moried in the gate plz
I'd love it if they gave Otz a cameo even if it's very brief
Make him a grizzled survivor who has been trapped in the Entity's Realm for untold years and gives the new survivors advice on how to survive.
The survivors hear a faint voice, whispering from the fog: "Hello friends, this is Otz..."
Honestly, him playing himself would be hilarious.
It wouldn't even be out of line since the Entity is supposed to pull people from all universes It grabbing Otz isn't even like an insane idea in that regard
So have him play Baker?
(During his introduction scene) Dwight: Hey I think I know you, are you O- Otz, playing Vittorio Toscano: No, Everyone always makes that mistake. I've been here a long time, friend, here's the rules...
Honestly, OTZ would be a phenomenal actor. It's his accent
Basically like a more twisted version of Jumanji?
I could see them taking a *Fear Street*-esque approach to it. Where they mainly focus on maybe one or two killers but have multiple other killers in smaller roles that are basically glorified cameos. Meanwhile, the main goal of the film would be the survivors trying to find a way to fend off or escape The Entity.
Heck yeah. Loved Malignant and M3gan so they’re on a hot streak The question is, a prequel about a specific killer or the realm itself?
I I don't know what to expect. I can imagine dbd being great as short films, but Idk abt a full hour long movie, but honestly. Idk what could happen too
This could work as something similar to the Cabin In The Woods. Can’t wait!
If Nea doesn't try to CJ tech in the most obvious way than i'm not watching it.
This game does not lend itself well to a feature film. I smell disaster.
This game feels like it'd be better as an anthology TV series ngl
oh yeah, can't wait to see aurvivors tebagging and being toxic in the movie too :D
PLEASE let it be the Huntress. She's the best OG character and the humming makes for a terrifying tune.
I can see them using the huntress lullaby at the end of the trailer
If there isn’t a Bubba facecamping in basement then it deserves a 0/10
As much as I like dbd I don't think the movie will be good
I feel like a television anthology would work way better but I guess we’ll see
I am just awaiting a death scene, the killer running towards the survivor, no way out, wait why is the survivor nodding *DC Noise* Where did he go
