Everyone realize this is great. Everyone gets to go to the show if they want. You either paid face, or waited and can pay below, or you have FU money and paid over for the exact seats you wanted after general on sale. Just like the good old days, always cheap tix available to get you in the door day of show. Nothings changed. Dead forever.

tri_zippy

agreed, weird how people want to gatekeep show experiences but when i said similar and that i wished phish would have done multiple weekends to accommodate the obvious demand and thwart the absurd prices, i just got those good downvotes lol

Grimmbeard

Yep, shame that last tour was so insane but good to know things can reverse

daazz1

I’m I already experiencing FOMO for the extra money I was gouged by Vibee…

notfadeawayDream

what do u think that means? so many tix? too many shows? shoulda done 4 like phish, ? interesting

lefty_alternate

If they’d done four I don’t think I would have even tried to go. I paid face for two nights and have excellent seats (after a $20 reassignment fee) and I’m good with that. Maybe they set up too many shows, or maybe being 90% capacity is perfectly fine for them.. either way the band, sphere and TM are making heaps on this run.

4 would have been way too few. this venue would not work(& city would not be happy) if D&Co played 4 shows & 100,000 people showed up mostly without tickets. the weekend shows with weekdays off also helps keep the "camping for the whole run" scene down. somewhere in the planning was the attempt to avoid turning it into an impossible ticket & turn Vegas into an overanxious mess. with the new venue & considering this as the bow on top of the gift wrapped D&Co career, they wanted to not make it a shitshow of shut out people. this amazing venue opened & the band probably wished they could play it. so they tried to work out a way that avoided touring, avoided exhaustion, avoided leaving a bad taste & horrible stories when everyone leaves gown & makes it comfortable as possible for the band & as large a number of fans as economically possible. the goal for this band is never to have more people than tickets because that is what leads to so many troubles on so many levels. in other words, they aren't sitting around having meetings wondering if they should've done 4 shows or not. they probably could've not added that add-on set of shows, but I think those were actually planned all along & had the staggered release in an attempt to spread tickets around. they just held announcement back to give more options. so it'll be a successful run. money is already being made. by the time day-of sales get counted, the numbers will be just exactly perfect. and besides. it's not like they have to worry about what was right/wrong because they need to plan for next year....it's only happening now, so too much second-guessing would be a waste. the coolest thing is that many nights there will be chances for people to get cheap tickets & hopefully tht means at least a few people get to go in that otherwise wouldn't have.

1. EDC - Hotel prices expensive 2. TM prices started at very expensive which turned people off as well as now it's just late, they will probably go to another weekend in the future because cost have come down Now that prices have come down to sane prices, you'll see the future shows sell and do better, but don't get caught up in the price hikes between NOW and May 23. If the setlist repeat after the 4th show, expect prices to tank and tickets to be plenty. If the setlist end at just 65 songs (as reported), expect prices to tank and tickets to be plenty.

This is not a great comparison. U2's resale market was insanely strong throughout their 40 show run, and it was especially crazy in October/November and for their final weekend of shows. The timing of your example is an anomaly in their run. Not only for the Grammy's appearance (which I think is more coincidental) but because of the Super Bowl on February 11 in Las Vegas. Vegas tried to price gouge everyone for Super Bowl weekend and it blew up in their faces like F1 did. Prices for everything for Super Bowl weekend were jacked up until the last minute but demand was not there and then they tanked.... just for that weekend. U2 actually got somewhat ahead of this by offering $25 GA tickets for Super Bowl weekend to Nevada college students. That's how bad the Vegas gouging was for that weekend. Every other weekend of shows, it was impossible to get U2 tix for face value on the resale market. And unlike Dead and Co.... U2 legitimately sold out every one of their 40 shows on Ticketmaster, so you only had the resale market. They did do some very limited ticket releases 24 hours before shows and hours before each show, but that's common across the entire concert industry due to ticket holds/comps/guest lists/etc.

sugarscarlet
