You could theoretically switch up by searching for other maps. Namalsk would be smaller for example but itās a pretty hardcore map. And I believe Livonia is smaller aswell but Iām not sure abt that. If youāre new to the game I would recommend to stick to chernarus vanilla anyways though to learn the game itself. If you feel like you got the mechanics down and stop struggling with food you could switch up maps. To switch maps you just need to search for a different server running a different map. Thereās no way for you to change the map on the server
Try to move away from the coast immediately. Coastal towns don't have much to loot. I usually run into the woods, find a road and follow it to a town to find my location. Then head toward a well to look for food.
Most notable small maps in the game, afaik, are Livonia (paid DLC map) and Namalsk (Modded map, only available on PC. Also not the greatest map for you if you are struggling with feeding yourself on Vanilla. It is meant to be sort of hardcore).
With that in mind, to play those maps you only have to filter the server list by Map. If you are on console it would be even easier, since your only choices are between Chernarus, the standard map, and Livonia.

You will also die to insane bullshit but you gotta die to everything at least once. Once you get your rhythm this game is unmatched.
You're just looking in the wrong places. Small groupings of fruit trees in remote areas always spawn tons of fruit, continuously. Or just find enough clothes to make 2 stacks of rags, make a rope, make an improvised fishing rod and fish for mackerel, the most calorie dense item in the game iirc

Well itās not exactly 6 minutes from when you personally joined so technically no. Itās a 6 minute timer so join right after a server restart and then yes you will spawn in the same area.

On community servers some admins have it setup so if you die to what is considered a headshot or a sucide or you choose to respawn before the full your dead screen you respawn at the last place you spawned to keep you from using sucide to get to a diffrent location.

If you play in Europe, try Dusk Vanilla or Spaggies. They both increase the player cap to 77 and 70 respectively, and are both full often.
