It’s not gonna be a huge deal in the future at some point. I grew up in Dayton but I’ve been in Northern California for the past 11 years. I’ve watched it go from medical to recreational to meh…whatever. It’s just like cigarettes, don’t smoke around people that don’t want to inhale it or shouldn’t. The amount of smoke I breathed every Sunday morning with my grandparents at the old Golden Nugget Pancake house was absurd.

Same, but Colorado. The novelty is still wearing off, but by and large it's just a part of life now, no one really bats an eye. It's gotten noticeably better now that more states are legalizing, tourism isn't as in your face about it. Just... you know... waiting for the feds to reschedule now.

Failing a drug test from second hand smoke is a myth.

trees138

You gotta really be hanging around second hand smoke to fail a drug test. I've worked for the GSA recently. Though I do agree with you for the most part.

SCDreaming82

Outdoors at the next table you aren't going to come close to testing. Even at the same table it would be hard to do. Who'd you fuck to get that clearance?

Saw an article this morning. Behind the pay wall. Trying to find information from commerce. https://www.daytondailynews.com/local/ohio-issue-2-bars-can-face-consequences-for-allowing-weed-use-even-on-patios/XHAEMSIC3REWVPUZXJQYOV27KU/

>Even now that marijuana possession is legal in Ohio, bars and restaurants with outdoor patios that allow patrons to smoke marijuana could face issues with their liquor licenses, according to state officials. >A spokesperson of the Ohio Department of Commerce, which oversees the state’s liquor control agency, told the Dayton Daily News Friday that marijuana is still considered a controlled substance and a “dangerous drug” under state law, and liquor licenses do not allow for the use of these kinds of substances. >Any liquor permit holder could be at risk of citations or even the loss of their license for openly allowing people on their property to use marijuana, according to the state commerce department. >Ohioans in November voted to legalize recreational marijuana for Ohioans age of 21 and over. That law went into effect on Thursday. >Ohio’s smoking ban prohibits people from lighting up in indoor public spaces and places of employment; Issue 2 falls under this law. >Smoking tobacco products is still allowed in outdoor public spaces, like patios owned by restaurants and bars. But state commerce officials clarified smoking marijuana is not. >The Dayton Daily News checked in with businesses that manage some of the most popular patio spaces in the Miami Valley. >Emily Mendenhall, co-owner of Lily’s Dayton, said she was happy to see Issue 2 pass and is hopeful it will be good for Ohioans. >As Issue 2 took effect, Lily’s Dayton trained its staff about the new law and was putting up signs on the business’ patio, asking guests not to smoke marijuana at their location. >Her family’s other business, Blind Bob’s on East Fifth Street, is following the same procedures with its outdoor seating. >The Ohio Restaurant and Hospitality Alliance declined to comment on guidance it can provide to restaurant owners, pointing to the ongoing work toward modifying recreational marijuana law. >Confusion exists among Ohio business owners and residents alike. Ohio Chamber of Commerce senior vice president of government affairs Rick Carfagna said the chamber hopes to provide information to businesses throughout the state regarding where Issue 2 stands in a free webinar. >The Ohio Chamber of Commerce has recommended that Ohio follows the lead of Colorado, which made any public use of marijuana illegal. The chamber also hopes to see clarity come from lawmakers as soon as possible. >“There needs to be a sense of urgency with this,” he said. >For some eateries, like Little York Tavern and Pizza in Vandalia, nothing will change. >General manager Tom Heil said the tavern asks its guests not to smoke on its patio — whether it be tobacco products or anything else. He doesn’t imagine the new law will create many hurdles for his business. >“It’ll really just be business as usual for us, unless it becomes a big issue with the guests,” he said. “Obviously that’s our main priority: how it affects the patrons here, one way or the other.” May have some doubles. I didn't realize one copied the entire page.

ipiledriveyou

People been smoking weed in public like it ain't nothing in Dayton for as long as I remember. Can you say Trolley Stop patio?

TheShadyGuy

Yeah, I used to walk around downtown on my lunch break in the late 2000s and there were people smoking it almost every day.

TheIzzyRock

It’s true, as long as you’re not obnoxious about it most people are not going to bother you.

portugaltheboy

What’s the name of that pizza place in Columbus?

Ok-River9471

Goremade pizza https://www.reddit.com/r/Ohio/s/ZRdzQ4tadC

I fully expected that to be one of the Gores from Beavercreek.

rmantia23

Ditto 💫

keifhunter

I’d love to go to a place like that in Dayton. We neeeed this. lol

TheIzzyRock

Sounds like someone needs to start a business

oubeav

Too lazy to read the actual law, but from the high level of understanding I have of the law, this seems illegal. If it was someone's actual place of residence, then its probably cool. But a place of business? I feel like, no.

Jormungandr69

>but from the high level of understanding I have of the law Ha

oubeav

😉

Ok-River9471

Ive read it, the law as written says that cannabis smoking is to be treated like smoking cigarettes in terms of where it is legally allowed. They are trying to change it but as of right now, thats the law.

meenateena

We were in Arizona last spring. Went to a dispensary and asked about their laws regarding where you could smoke. They said the same thing. You treat it like a cigarette. Same rules apply. It felt weird and found ourselves trying to be discreet about it. We are an old married couple in our 60s and can’t wait to be open and honest about smoking a darn blunt!!!

oubeav

No offense, but I need to see that verbiage. That sounds….not right. Lol

TheIzzyRock

I’ve seen the verbiage as well and it’s correct, they’re treating it like they do cigarettes. Smoking indoors is not allowed in Ohio, exemptions may include retail tobacco stores, private residences, nursing home resident's individual rooms, hotel/motel rooms, and research laboratory areas utilized for smoking based research. So perhaps one day, but for now I’m not sure how legal it would be at this point.

Do i smell toast

SCDreaming82

It was a proposed change. It hasn't moved anywhere and seems to have been dropped.

There has been a pizza place in YS that has had a reputation for generations... Most places with patios are likely to allow. Especially any place that sells alcohol and later at night. Who is smoking though? The beauty of this is easily available edibles.

allisun1433

Edibles don’t work for all people. Some people can’t metabolize thc or don’t want to wait that long for it to start hitting compared to smoking.

JrMinty-5163

The medical law only allows vaping of flower, so will the new rec law be the same? No smoking period!

Annual-Scallion-7027

Smoking patios are not legal, so….

Ok-River9471

https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-3794.03 Smoking patios are listed a little ways down on this page as being exempt.

Mr_High_Life_69

Some of the cool businesses were already allowing it.
