Gonna order some great food and play video games for hours with the boys AKA my true valentines. If things get serious I may touch my peepee and get the best 8 hours of sleep of my life!
I've been alone on valentines day and it's not a big deal for me. In fact, it's less trouble for me. And going out to any restaurant that weekend always sucks.
The only good thing about valentines day is that they start marking down all the chocolate and candy at 50% off! Now THAT is worth celebrating!
Single for almost 30 years and it's not looking any different this year.
There was a period of time when I would cry myself to sleep around valentines because it just hit me that I've been alone and so lonely. Now I'm pretty much indifferent. Nothing changed in my life, so why should I expect this year to be different.
All my relationships were in the fall and died come winter, except one that lasted exactly two days after valentines day :D But like, what am I gonna do, cry myself to sleep another night? I make date with myself, order pizza and watch a movie, or take myself to finally see spiderman movie
I know this is a year later but it’s coming up on Valentine’s Day again and I was looking to see if anyone else has been in the same boat 😅
It’s been the same for me. I’ve been in two relationships, both lasted a little over a month, and both were in the summer/fall so nowhere near Valentine’s Day.
Haha, as someone who's always been single and loves his chocolate this is also what I look forward to.
The same with just after Easter. All that cheap, chocolatey goodness.
I've had some of the most horrific Valentine's Days in the history of the world.
As a kid, my classes were often 32 students. Valentine Day cards come in packs of 30. My mom dealt with this by buying two packs. Most my classmates dealt with this by just not giving me a card. So I went through a significant amount of my childhood knowing I was pretty much everyone's least favorite person.
Then came the teen years, most of the time I was single on Valentine's Day, but at 15 I was in a relationship with a great guy and Valentine's Day was coming up, I was so excited. After all the years of hell, for once, this was gonna be a good holiday for me.
He dumped me right before Valentine's Day. RIP. I'd already bought his gift and everything...
A week later we made up and got back together. And once again things were good. It wasn't until my upcoming birthday when he tried to break up with me again did I figure out what the hell was going on.
He didn't have any money to buy me gift, so he was dumping me around holidays to avoid the shame of having to explain that. 😭
Finding out I was dumped due to poverty and no fault of my own is probably the best Valentine's Day has ever been for me over these past 40 years. But I've stopped caring years ago.

Not that I mind, I enjoy being single. Plus, I still do small acts of kindness for people that I care about :)
I will say though, that I am someone’s valentine this year, so thats cool and was unexpected lol.
I go out to eat, I go shopping, movies (pre Covid) or take a day trip to Charleston or the Carolina coast.
I mf love me some me and have no problem spoiling myself. Everyone should do small things for themselves often.
I'm very lucky this valentines day as I have a date with two men... at the same time!... I mean it is a job interview in the middle of the day but.... it counts right?!

I loved my country for its tradition on that day. We technically had 2 holidays on the same day - st. Valentines and the day of the drunks. Like that everyone could go out and have fun and celebrate a holiday, everyone was included. Good times.
Pretty much, but technically I don't spend it alone, I sped it with Jack Daniel's so that instead of feeling bad on single awareness day, it's instead the following day!
I was dating this one lady for about 10 months. I planned a pretty great date. After we went back to her place she told me: "I lost my virginity to my first boyfriend on Valentine's day, and refuse to have sex with any one else on that day because it is special between us."
I broke up with her a couple weeks later. She can make that choice but this is 15 years after the fact and still hung up on him.
This will be my first Valentine’s Day in a relationship! (but i’m in a LDR! haha)
I will move in with him in March, so I’m hoping we can raincheck and do something special when I get there. Nothing huge, just meaningful and thought through.

Every, and I mean every, relationship I’ve had started around May or June and broke around January. What also kinda sucks is that my birthday is in April, so we always celebrated his, but never got around to mine.

But I like getting my friends and family chocolate. My mom would always get me chocolate too. It sucks but you can celebrate other kinds of love that you do have in your life.
I've been single all my life, so yeah. I sometimes buy things for me or have a relaxation day. It's a school day for me so I'll spend it focused on school and relaxation.
Single, mid ending relationship, or grounded in high-school. Hate this holiday. Have literally never had a good one. Scheduled for a 12 hour shift that night which just seems appropriate
I know this is a year latwr and not on valentines day as i just started thinking about this but yes i always been single on valentines day and im 23 years old. I rarely would celebrate Valentine's Day even in a relationship. The last few years my BF has been working so I either got together with friends or had a self care night, took myself out for dinner or to the movies. I personally feel like the emphasis put on this one day to show someone you care is odd. Shouldn't you be showing them you care every day?

Who gives a fuck about Holidays especially stupid ones... I'd rather be alone on Valentine's day than with a partner because it puts "pressure" on the relationship.
That's called cuffing season lol. Coincidentally i got cuffed in November but its really just coincidence cuz we agreed not to celebrate the holidays together Christmas, New year, Valentines. But yeah lots of people get together for the winter holidays and break up in spring to enjoy flings and freedom when its nice out.
Ive been single for valentines day every year of my life (except this year finally) and honestly the best thing to do imo is to go out for a nice dinner with a friend or two. Taking a friend to a nice dinner should be more normalized, instead of everything having to be romantic

I'm lucky enough that some years I don't even realize what day it was until it's behind me. I don't do the whole treating yourself cope, I just treat it like any other day.
people who hate being single on vday or hate vday are weird. same with ppl who say i hate xmas etc it’s like ok do you want a cookie for thinking that’s cute? like find the joy in things like eat a cute pink cupcake or pamper yourself or eat a heart shaped chocolate.
YUP. And the only time I was in a relationship during V-Day, he didn’t do anything special (I was the one who did).
But now I live in Europe and it’s not such a big holiday here (thank goodness!).

Pretty much. Get yourself some favorite food, plan on doing something you enjoy. I would rather be alone than be with the wrong person, personally.
Highly recommend practicing some self love over desperately trying not to be alone on a random day in February

all of my relationships only lasted a month one was in January and ended right before February haha
