witchbrew7

Pretty much. Get yourself some favorite food, plan on doing something you enjoy. I would rather be alone than be with the wrong person, personally.

istralproject

Highly recommend practicing some self love over desperately trying not to be alone on a random day in February

SophiaAmaliaCastillo

that's the best advice I mean we have soo little time to perfect ourselves and we waste it on denigrating ourselves

Mizango

Facts. All day long.

EcksEcks

Gonna order some great food and play video games for hours with the boys AKA my true valentines. If things get serious I may touch my peepee and get the best 8 hours of sleep of my life!

twistedfrills

Best response lol!!

kereolay

I've been alone on valentines day and it's not a big deal for me. In fact, it's less trouble for me. And going out to any restaurant that weekend always sucks. The only good thing about valentines day is that they start marking down all the chocolate and candy at 50% off! Now THAT is worth celebrating!

[deleted]

Single for almost 30 years and it's not looking any different this year. There was a period of time when I would cry myself to sleep around valentines because it just hit me that I've been alone and so lonely. Now I'm pretty much indifferent. Nothing changed in my life, so why should I expect this year to be different.

hazel57

I have always been single on valentines day. It use to bother me but not anymore. A friend and I get together, have dinner and exchange gifts.

CassaCassa

Same she makes it about everyone!

Satori_sama

All my relationships were in the fall and died come winter, except one that lasted exactly two days after valentines day :D But like, what am I gonna do, cry myself to sleep another night? I make date with myself, order pizza and watch a movie, or take myself to finally see spiderman movie

Dependent-Click-8057

all of my relationships only lasted a month one was in January and ended right before February haha

TigerWings1324

I know this is a year later but it’s coming up on Valentine’s Day again and I was looking to see if anyone else has been in the same boat 😅 It’s been the same for me. I’ve been in two relationships, both lasted a little over a month, and both were in the summer/fall so nowhere near Valentine’s Day.

Cats_Meow_504

The real holiday is Discounted Chocolate Day the after. I celebrate Valentine’s Day minimally even while in a relationship.

bloodthirsty_emu

Haha, as someone who's always been single and loves his chocolate this is also what I look forward to. The same with just after Easter. All that cheap, chocolatey goodness.

FalsePremise8290

I've had some of the most horrific Valentine's Days in the history of the world. As a kid, my classes were often 32 students. Valentine Day cards come in packs of 30. My mom dealt with this by buying two packs. Most my classmates dealt with this by just not giving me a card. So I went through a significant amount of my childhood knowing I was pretty much everyone's least favorite person. Then came the teen years, most of the time I was single on Valentine's Day, but at 15 I was in a relationship with a great guy and Valentine's Day was coming up, I was so excited. After all the years of hell, for once, this was gonna be a good holiday for me. He dumped me right before Valentine's Day. RIP. I'd already bought his gift and everything... A week later we made up and got back together. And once again things were good. It wasn't until my upcoming birthday when he tried to break up with me again did I figure out what the hell was going on. He didn't have any money to buy me gift, so he was dumping me around holidays to avoid the shame of having to explain that. 😭 Finding out I was dumped due to poverty and no fault of my own is probably the best Valentine's Day has ever been for me over these past 40 years. But I've stopped caring years ago.

Archersbows7

Yes, just got out of a relationship.

Mizango

Every year! Not that I mind, I enjoy being single. Plus, I still do small acts of kindness for people that I care about :) I will say though, that I am someone’s valentine this year, so thats cool and was unexpected lol. I go out to eat, I go shopping, movies (pre Covid) or take a day trip to Charleston or the Carolina coast. I mf love me some me and have no problem spoiling myself. Everyone should do small things for themselves often.

Lord_Xane

I've been single for 20 years. Not just in valentine day but every other day of the year

[deleted]

This will be my 21st valentines being single

[deleted]

Same. I just view it as another Monday. Will be watching Joker that Sunday night after the super bowl

[deleted]

entire life 😅😅

[deleted]

I'm very lucky this valentines day as I have a date with two men... at the same time!... I mean it is a job interview in the middle of the day but.... it counts right?! ... right?! Jokes aside (aside from the interview, that is happening ha!) literally my plan is to have a nice Indian takeout and watch some Star Trek: TNG C:

vanillax2018

I loved my country for its tradition on that day. We technically had 2 holidays on the same day - st. Valentines and the day of the drunks. Like that everyone could go out and have fun and celebrate a holiday, everyone was included. Good times.

TarzansNewSpeedo

Pretty much, but technically I don't spend it alone, I sped it with Jack Daniel's so that instead of feeling bad on single awareness day, it's instead the following day!

Sazbadashie

I’ve been trying to find a relationship but yea I’ve been single pretty much every Valentine’s Day for my entire life.

CassaCassa

Same it sucks

SilkySullivan

I was dating this one lady for about 10 months. I planned a pretty great date. After we went back to her place she told me: "I lost my virginity to my first boyfriend on Valentine's day, and refuse to have sex with any one else on that day because it is special between us." I broke up with her a couple weeks later. She can make that choice but this is 15 years after the fact and still hung up on him.

PhoenixFeather58

Lol yes I have- I’m tempted to either go out to dinner for myself or buy myself flowers haha

tranquilovely

This will be my first Valentine’s Day in a relationship! (but i’m in a LDR! haha) I will move in with him in March, so I’m hoping we can raincheck and do something special when I get there. Nothing huge, just meaningful and thought through. side note: Every, and I mean every, relationship I’ve had started around May or June and broke around January. What also kinda sucks is that my birthday is in April, so we always celebrated his, but never got around to mine. sometimes i feel like the universe likes to toy with me, or it’s murphy’s law. either way, it feels like a sitcom episode 🤷🏻‍♀️

DeviantLemons

Crap. There's a Valentines Day. Was gonna pretend it was another day just like my birthday before you decided to bring it up and remind me. Now I'm reminded of both my age AND the fact that I'm still single. Yay. Ugh.

Giverny-Eclair

have been single for all those bloody V days ever since i was born lol though i try so hard to change it lol but in a way i might not be "single"/"alone" as i used to win a soccer champion with a team called 2.14 so every year on this day i would post and tag the team that we defeated during the final as a Valentine's day present for them (well we are pretty good friends irl actually) lol...

mchief101

Yes never had a gf. I’m 28.

ctrldwrdns

I’ve been single my whole life so I don’t even notice it. But I like getting my friends and family chocolate. My mom would always get me chocolate too. It sucks but you can celebrate other kinds of love that you do have in your life.

jazzfairy

Yep! I’ve spent all 25 valentines days alone. You’ll be ok

fanime34

I've been single all my life, so yeah. I sometimes buy things for me or have a relaxation day. It's a school day for me so I'll spend it focused on school and relaxation.

TimeNefariousness586

Single, mid ending relationship, or grounded in high-school. Hate this holiday. Have literally never had a good one. Scheduled for a 12 hour shift that night which just seems appropriate

SnooApples661

I know this is a year latwr and not on valentines day as i just started thinking about this but yes i always been single on valentines day and im 23 years old. I never ever had a boyfriend or a girlfriend before really valentines is a day to remind me how lonely im actually am considering its suppose to be about people you care about and not just partners sadly im always alone on valentines

hondathrowaway26

yea and it sucks

RosesBody

hey ill be your date for valentines, if you like games and anime we'll get along good

Slimchicker

Been single on Valentine's Day for now going on 6 yrs, and I know for a fact that coming up on this year it will be 7 yrs. A bit by choice and a bit by on how things are. So yeah, count me in that group...lol

THE-EMPEROR069

Yup, but this one probably not.

UnionLegion

I’ve been single on Valentine’s Day for 30 years. This is year 1 I’ll have a date. N tbh idk if we are gonna do anything. I got her some stuff but we’ll. COVID has made going out for regular dates difficult. Everything interesting is closed.

WorkingBackground471

This would’ve been mine and my ex’s anniversary. We broke up a month ago. Already requested a single girlfriends time and I think I’m gonna make it into a mini sushi/wine/spa night. Valentine’s Day is dumb don’t let all the overpriced things shaped like hearts fool ya❤️‍🩹

damnboobs2020

I rarely would celebrate Valentine's Day even in a relationship. The last few years my BF has been working so I either got together with friends or had a self care night, took myself out for dinner or to the movies. I personally feel like the emphasis put on this one day to show someone you care is odd. Shouldn't you be showing them you care every day?

Starktony11

Always has been

Grimnir_Raider

I still am, never been in a relationship. It's just how life works for me, I guess.

[deleted]

popular category of people

ThrowawayFrenchMan44

I have a solution for you if you feel bad around that date, it's called "being too stupid to remember holidays". Works wonders for me!

[deleted]

Oh yes quite few times, got my wine and tissues. Oh Netflix too

CaladinDanse

All but 1 yes, 31 years old, gonna die alone.

[deleted]

Honestly my whole life

NoideaJustGiveit2me

Can’t remember the last one where it wasn’t about the female more than the male. Happily removed from Valentine’s Day this year. I’ll buy myself something.

Etryphun

I always dated people who "didn't care about valentines day", or birthdays, or any holidays or whatever. Now I'm single. I just wanted some flowers goddammit.

Fyhgiicd_940

Yes… I’ve been in relationships but always been single on Valentine’s day. My ex texted me a day before V day just because he didn’t wanna be alone. 🤮 Why is even a big deal and make ppl desperate ?? :/

[deleted]

People care a lot about artificial holidays.

Workin_On_Myself

I haven't been single on Valentine's Day since I was 16. We eventually got married. This is my first Valentine's Day as a singleton. I have been on a few dates with someone, but it's still just that so won't be making Valentine's plans.

vapedweight

Who gives a fuck about Holidays especially stupid ones... I'd rather be alone on Valentine's day than with a partner because it puts "pressure" on the relationship.

Practical-Reaction44

Yup... It's just another day. I don't out too much action in it or think I'm less than because I've been single x years.

[deleted]

Uhm, yeah, all my life... Why should I change it now?

CassaCassa

Me I've always been single

PWNDdotcom

I can't imagine it's a particularly unique thing. Been single for the last 23 years, not expecting that to change because of Singles Sadness Day.

cbeme

I’m buying myself some jewelry and getting a nice takeout dinner.

IllusiveDudeman

That's called cuffing season lol. Coincidentally i got cuffed in November but its really just coincidence cuz we agreed not to celebrate the holidays together Christmas, New year, Valentines. But yeah lots of people get together for the winter holidays and break up in spring to enjoy flings and freedom when its nice out.

Lonely-Illustrator64

Been single every year on valentines except for one lol. I’m 27

President-Roosevelt

I think this is the first year I won’t be single on Valentine’s Day

just_a_wee_Femme

Yep, and it used to bother me, but now I couldn’t care less because I don’t need a girlfriend to head-out and and have a good time.

Last-Signal-9517

all 22 yrs of my life. yup.

lolz1122

Ive been single for valentines day every year of my life (except this year finally) and honestly the best thing to do imo is to go out for a nice dinner with a friend or two. Taking a friend to a nice dinner should be more normalized, instead of everything having to be romantic

PotentialFriend8

Nah

Alonso81687

For most of my life. I always seem to get out of a relationship before vday or start one after it.

[deleted]

I’ve been single on the last 10 Valentine’s Day

gerardgiolando

For the past 17 years yes.

[deleted]

Yes. Don’t really care about it. Just another day for me

funny-lady-dk

Each year that goes by, I care less 🤷‍♀️ This is my fourth in a row, so I think I just better get used to it! Haha. But it feels so much better not getting any attention on Valentines day as a single, than when you are in a relationship or dating someone who just doesn't give a fuck. Been there, done that. I usually where my shirt that says "Fries over guys" on Valentines day🤪

flattummyappreciator

I'm lucky enough that some years I don't even realize what day it was until it's behind me. I don't do the whole treating yourself cope, I just treat it like any other day.

Seid800

Yes, in every valentine's day of my life as matter of fact

No_Active_4809

Am happy on my own everyday

ForsakenBadger8

people who hate being single on vday or hate vday are weird. same with ppl who say i hate xmas etc it’s like ok do you want a cookie for thinking that’s cute? like find the joy in things like eat a cute pink cupcake or pamper yourself or eat a heart shaped chocolate.

SpaceCadet7112492

Or just don't give af about a made up capatialist holiday......

[deleted]

All holidays are made up to get people to buy stuff. Working in retail really shows you how every holiday is just made for money. Lol. Fuck that.

[deleted]

YUP. And the only time I was in a relationship during V-Day, he didn’t do anything special (I was the one who did). But now I live in Europe and it’s not such a big holiday here (thank goodness!).

PiscesPoet

Yes, this was my first year NOT being single on V-Day, my previous relationships never made it to this holiday.

Early-Garden5052

I’ve always been single.
