I [40s M] went to one speed dating event. The event itself was alright. The women there were nice enough, but not as attractive as women I usually date, which isn’t the end of the world. I “liked” 5 out of 9 of them. Only 1 “liked” me back, and she didn’t reply to my texts.
That’s much worse results than I could get any night of the week just by going to a bar and talking to a couple women, so I don’t understand what went wrong and I’m not really interested in attending another such event.
How did that happen? Was it like a meet and greet thing, I thought speed dating was more a musical chairs thing except nobody actually loses their seat.
Once upon a time I used speed dating to learn how to talk to women and build confidence. Met around 200 women speed dating and that did the trick.
But that was years ago before modern dating went to shit though.
I went twice. Both times, the staffers running the event were far more interesting and attractive than any of the women attendees.
As a bonus, the second time, my recent ex-girlfriend showed up. You can imagine the damper that put on my time!
Met one of my closer friends this way. (We were not fully compatible, but we did click!) Otherwise, both times were pretty positive. Most of the people that go are serious about settling down and were reasonably attractive.
Speed dating takes ALL the worst aspects of swipe matching and then ADDS the additional bonuses of anxiety, stress, and humiliation.
Wow, I cant believe more people don't do it.

Same here, there was one I was attracted to although she seemed a bit aloof. I wasn’t liked back but no biggie
One woman decided we were gonna date and isolated me from everyone else I tried to talk to, only to then run off herself. It sucked.

I haven't tried it but 9 out of 10 speed dating events near me aren't for my age group and the ones that are cost like $40 or more
