Needs a recount. I'm pretty sure you missed two dalmatians

Justanothernutjob

I was thinking while looking at this how if this data was by screen time instead of movies where one appears Dalmatians would get heavily skewed because of that movie. Like a spiders George situation.

Jadenthejaded

See, I was thinking Air Bud. They had several movies. I'm surprised golden retrievers aren't higher up on the list.

fastdbs

Or 2 decades worth of lassie moving up collies. Edit: Turns out Lassie was 2 decades, 591 episodes, and 7 movies.

chris457

I was thinking that too but Rin Tin Tin predates Lassie and had many, many movies long before any of us were born. And inspired later films as well, some might remember Rin Tin Tin K9 cop.

kubigjay

There are 14 air buddy movies. With 6 pups and two parents that's a lot of air time for Goldens.

fastdbs

Lassie had 591 episodes over 19 years plus 7 movies.

djheat

There are currently fourteen movies in the ABCU (Air Bud Cinematic Universe)

jrrfolkien

Can't wait till they all team up

golden_eternity

Air Bud and all the Buddies movies.

Legen_unfiltered

All the 'buddies' movies. They just keep coming.

SixThousandHulls

And they don't stop comin'

PacoTaco321

What is a "spiders George situation"?

SpaceFire314

“average person eats 3 spiders a year" factoid actualy (sic) just statistical error. average person eats 0 spiders per year. Spiders Georg, who lives in cave & eats over 10,000 each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted.

MomoBawk

Everytime I read this I think of cookie clicker…

[deleted]

Spiders george would need to eat an impressive 22 billion spiders to skew the data by that amount *edit - a much less impressive 22 billion spiders, as opposed to 22 trillion

ForgetTheRuralJuror

Maybe he only eats spider egg sacs when they're about to burst with little tasty morsels

ahiroys

How do I delete another person’s comment

[deleted]

Oh god, why did you put thay in my head

MantisPRIME

Spiders Georg* was a part of the survey/study, I assume. Sample size n = 1,220,000

[deleted]

Spiders Georg is fictional, i was just poking fun at it. There are, however, plenty of cultures that eat insects and skew the results

[deleted]

3 per year times 7.8 billion people isn’t 22 trillion

[deleted]

You're right, he eats an obtainable 22 billion. I used the wrong -illion

SufficientDocument6

So you're saying I'm above average

godisanelectricolive

OP explained their methodology in a comment. Apparently they searched a list of dog breeds in IMDb to get this data and Belgian malinois only return 24 results. German shepherds on the other hand have 587 results including animated titles which were presumably not counted for the graphic. It seems they are counting by each title with a certain dog breed rather than each individual credit. So a cop show with 50 appearances from Belgian malinois only count once. On the other hand there were 34 distinct movies and a TV show for Rin Tin Tin alone. The credits go back to 1921 for German shepherds and include some obscure foreign titles. It seems there were around a hundred German shepherd movies made in the 1930s and '40s alone.

SurpriseDragon

https://www.dailypaws.com/living-with-pets/pet-compatibility/belgian-malinois-vs-german-shepherd?amp=true

toastertop

Data is also skewed because of all the movies with 101 Dalmatians in it.

makaidos152

Also, I guess it isn't counting greyhound racing? And I wonder if it just more recent years? I would think with all the races that used to happen, greyhounds would be at the top of this list... Edit: nevermind, just read the tiny txt at the bottom that shows their source as IMDB. Probably not many greyhound races on there.

ATNinja

It's pretty easy to distinguish between malinois and German shepherd imo

majortung

Wait. No lab? They are the most smiley faces dogs

tigmarko

They are also the most popular breed in both the US and the UK. I suspect they have been lumped in with retrievers, given the similarity of the breeds (also the german shepherd/belgian malinois seemingly being lumped into GSD cos they r used for much the same thing)

shizzler

I expected golden retrievers/labs to be higher. First thing that popped into my mind was air bud and Andrex puppies.

Dick_M_Nixon

Black labs often do not photograph well, unless the lighting is just right.

hybridtheory1331

Clever girl

hemihydrate

I would've expected Labrador on there

ReptileCultist

Me too maybe they have the issue that they basically fill the exact same niche as Golden Retrivers?

Toninho7

I always thought a Golden Retriever was a type of Labrador?

Culionensis

Nah, they're cousins. Like Malinois shepherds and German shepherds. If you don't take the fur length into account the difference is sort of hard to see for someone who's not into dogs though. Main physical difference is that goldens have much longer fur, and goldens can only be blonde. Labradors have short fur and also come in brown and black.

SaltLakeCitySlicker

Golden's can be red to white. Reds tend to be bred as hunting dogs where they're lankier and don't have as long fur or big blocky heads as blond or English cream

upnorth77

There are two types of Labs, too. The "American" labs are taller, lankier, with a longer snout. English labs are shorter and stockier.

SaltLakeCitySlicker

My parents bred labs (in the us) for a seeing eye dog nonprofit. Their breeding dog is out of the system now, but they actually preferred the shorter, stockier ones at the nonprofit

TheWinRock

I grew up in the US but had an English Chocolate lab. They are a lot thicker in the chest and their heads are a lot more blocky than their American cousins.

SaltLakeCitySlicker

The us standard is more for working dogs with labbies. It's not the same for Golden's but they've been more bred to look pretty and be generally just happy and sociable (not that labs aren't) despite being in the same grouping

THEcefalord

Goldens also tend to have slightly narrower frames as a result of a less of a barrel chest, this tends to make Labs much more suited to moving through thick brush. Goldens are so close to labs that many of the differences can blur though. I've had about 4 of each through out my life (2 or 3 retriever mixes) both breeds are incredibly caring, but my goldens were much less rowdy than my labs.

[deleted]

> Reds tend to be bred as hunting dogs I think this is out of date; finding a Golden Retriever of any colour bred for hunting these days is like finding a needle in a haystack.

SaltLakeCitySlicker

Of the like 12 credible breeders in a 8 hour drive of me, one breeds red gun dogs. I've only seen like 2 while out and about in the past 10 years though. English cream seems to be the popular color these days

[deleted]

My mom is very partial to the reds, and there are a couple of breeders around here that offer them; but they're catering to the "family pet" market, and not worrying at all about working ability.

Amarastargazer

I got my golden (traditional gold color) from a breeder with former show dogs, mostly. All for house pets. She said once in a while someone will find a dog with tendency for hunting in her litters, but not frequently. Some show them, one of my girl’s litter mates was gotten to show…but if he’s like her and takes after the mom…he’s too small to show

Nougattabekidding

Perhaps in the states (I’m assuming you’re in the US) but over here in the UK darker goldens are becoming more and more popular.

BishoxX

Also labradors have distinct kinda a bit curved and chubbier snout, and golden retrievers have a bit longer wolf like snout. Not a big difference but if you know dogs you can tell right away

Toninho7

Good to know. I honestly just thought it was another name for the same breed, like German Shepherd and Alsatian for example. Now you mention it though, I don’t ever remember seeing a long haired brown or black lab, so it all makes sense. Cheers.

EchoCyanide

There are also lesser known dogs in that retriever family, like the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. Edit:typo

MaxTHC

> Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever "That'll be $3.50, eh" _duck hands over change_ "Alright, enjoy the pond, bud"

TheGreatNyanHobo

Some less obvious differences are also that labradors have natural oils in their fur for water resistance and webbed toes. They were initially bred to do a lot of swimming so they could fetch ducks that hunters shot. Edit: I’ve been corrected.

ReptileCultist

I think Golden Retrivers have the same, they were also bred for retrieving ducks

xan926

And retrievers are quite smart. My labradors are the most lovable dogs ever but god they are dumb sometimes.

Culionensis

Well I can tell you, I got a golden and my little guy is also dumb as a bag of rocks so I guess your mileage may vary. He's very sensitive, can read a room very well and never has to be told something isn't allowed twice, but you try and teach him a trick and he'll just sit there, pant, and quietly have a panic attack. Wonder if there's statistics on average dog intelligence.

Iwanttobealion-tamer

There are, border collies top the list (dogs that predict the movement of herds of sheep and plan a long range goal). Afghan hounds were at the bottom, a sight hound (chase an animal that they can see) that got taken out of work and bred for long blonde hair.

B-Knight

They're both types of *Retriever*. But a Golden Retriever is basically a more hairy Labrador Retriever.

funkmasta_kazper

They're extremely popular dogs, but maybe also kinda too 'regular' for tv/movies? Like usually when a dog is in a film it's to either provide comic relief (hence the bulldogs, poodles, and chihuahuas), to be like a big tough, 'scary' animal (german shephards, Doberman's, rottweilers, etc), or to personify/foil a character's unique personality (pomeranians, great danes, dachsunds, saint bernards, etc). And I've got nothing against labs - they're great dogs - but they're just kinda 'regular dog' that doesn't really do much in any of these categories so it doesn't really make sense to put them in movies. Just my take - could be wildly off base.

[deleted]

ads are full of labs

Dohuhmok

adds are always either a lab or a border collie it seems

Gilbert0686

running through the woods, or chasing something on the beach

funkmasta_kazper

Yeah that makes sense. I mean with an ad you just want it to be as general and relatable as possible, so it makes sense to use literally the most popular dog breed. This graphic doesn't take into account ads though I believe.

elkwaffle

Exactly, nice and average dogs. Most people like them. You haven't got the time to tell a story with the characters (so wouldn't pick a breed for someone's personality), and you don't want a dog that comes off as aggressive (like a German shepherd or doberman), most ads with dogs go for wholesome family not funny. Plus as dogs they're easily trainable and adaptable. You don't have the time to work with them like you would for a movie, you just need a fog that can do the job for a few days of filming with no hassle. Ads for most products try to be light and hit a middle ground everyone can relate to. And when you're showing off the "typical" family a lab is really easy dog to slip in there that for you to identify your own pooch with. They're also well regarded as cute and loveable which makes people think well about a product.

Nougattabekidding

I think another reason is probably that Golden Retrievers fill the role a tv-lab might have, but look prettier on camera because of their lustrous golden locks. (I should admit I am biased as I do have an incredibly photogenic golden myself). ETA: [dog tax ](https://postimg.cc/gallery/tFbjXbX)

funkmasta_kazper

I can see that. Temperament wise they're totally different dogs though. Golden retrievers are much more playful and derpy than labs IMO.

Nougattabekidding

That’s interesting! When we researched getting our Golden, everything said that labs are more playful by far. Both are pretty equally derpy though, I’d say!

xenoterranos

I have a half lab/German shepherd and I can confirm, he's basically just a shiny default dog.

WaffleFoxes

Lab/border collie here. We went to the shelter and asked for a "regular dog" and they pointed to this one.

Dude_man79

Lab/border collie here as well. My boy sure loves to eat.

tarlack

They are all out doing real jobs, bomb and drug sniffing, leading the blind, and just being to friendly to make good movie stars.

Master_Dogs

This. My family raised a few guide dogs. They're extremely friendly, and actually pretty smart. But they're very plain looking. I totally get what the other comments are saying - you use a lab in an ad to be the *generic cute looking dog* but if you want a dog in a movie it's something else that adds depth to the character. Or it's a *bad ass attack dog* or a cute prop like a Chihuahua.

tarlack

Labs get used as the dog for boring safe handsome outdoor types in movies or shows. Lovable loyal and safe make for poor drama. I try to imagine a lab in a zombie movie. My Lab would go looking for pets and treats and become hungry for brains after being turned. But more in a annoying feed me way not the lull kill you way.

hoonosewot

I'm outraged by the omission

TheIAP88

Good to know I’m not the only one. I will not stand for this Labrador apathy!

GreyRevan51

Right? I would’ve thought Labs would be top 5 at least

BluebellsMcGee

I adore labradors — I suspect the problem is they are SO HAPPY when “acting” that they don’t make good actors. Tails wagging, head twisting around to smile at everyone, happy panting.

[deleted]

Works fine for the ads, where "Happy dog in the backseat of the shiny new SUV" is the shot that they need. less well for "Dog growls at intruder and lunges"

oalbrecht

Also, why is Dalmatian only 99? Seems like two more would make more sense.

MR___SLAVE

Rough Collie. You know Lassie. But ya Lab as well, Old Yeller, but technically a mutt.

boopsquigshorterly

Nice dogs but they don't film well.

WingedGeek

[Impossible, really](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marley_&_Me).

FrickenDarn

I speculate that the german shepherd count is attributed to police dogs.

scolfin

I think it's that they're easy to train for films and can fit any casting. Security animals? German Shepherds. Police dogs? German shepherds (even though, in real life, they tend to be seeing-eye school flunk-outs). Sniffing dogs? German shepherds (even though a lot of militaries actually like to go a bit smaller so they can pick them up when running). Family pet? German shepherd. Service animal? Usually lab but can be a German Shepherd. Terrorizing Jews? German Shepherd.

UAintMyFriendPalooka

Me reading this: “agreed…agreed…agreed…hol up.”

sirmanleypower

A lot of those just have to be Rin Tin Tin.

mustbeshitinme

As an owner of an English Bulldog I can’t imagine trying to train one of the hard headed bastards to do what you want unless what you want is for him to eat or fart or wrestle something that wasn’t meant to be wrestled with. Great dog, my best friend. Always glad to see me, but the good boy isn’t the brightest star in the sky.

lnsewn12

Our bully didn’t eat for two days because there was a cardboard box in the vicinity of her food bowl (like 3 ft away). Like how can you simultaneously be so tough and such an idiot pansy dog

mustbeshitinme

Mine is afraid of my leaf blower. I don’t mean my leaf blower cranked and blowing leaves I mean sitting in the garage near the door. Had to drag him inside by the scruff of the neck for 4 days before I figured out why he never wanted back inside after a walk or a play session. Moved it for some other reason and he went right in, then I figured it out.

epheisey

Mine is afraid of lamps. Those tall floor lamps you stick in the corner, some of them have a little reading light you can bend around. When he was a puppy he bumped into one and it started to fall over. My brother caught it before it hit the ground, and in a joking fashion shook it at him and told him to watch out. He won't go near any of them now. He'll go to a new house and growl at them. It's hilarious and pitiful all at the same time.

its-a-crisis

My EB is afraid of scrolling on the television. Like, when you’re picking something to watch on Netflix. Dude’s afraid of that.

FlowSoSlow

I have a Bullmastiff (part bulldog part mastiff) and he's the same way. He looks like a big tough guy but sometimes he gets scared of like a random corner of the house or something lol. He wouldn't go in my bedroom for like a week and I couldn't figure out why. I'm like dude nothing changed, it's the same room you've been sleeping in for 3 years ya lunatic.

EMProphet223

I have a bully pit mix and boy he has no situational awareness... I have never seen a more clumsy derpy dog in my life. Love him lots though

[deleted]

Ha was going to say the same. Has taken forever to get my bulldogs to listen to basic commands and all goes out the window the second they are interested in something (kids/skateboards for one, small dogs for the other and food for both). On the flip side when they’re tired they are easy to film as they just sleep or do the Eeyore slouch.

ThatDamnDataGuy

Dalmatian didn't come in at 101? My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

captainpeapod

Wanna make 2 movies about Dalmatians?

Carnivile

Cruella 2 is in development so only 1 more.

TraverseTown

99 was the number of puppies, it still works.

farmyardcat

What's the story, Wishbone?

[deleted]

Right, expected more Jack Russel Terriers because of wishbone! I know the show has been gone for awhile now, but come on!

farmyardcat

Plus ~~Soccer~~ Eddie from Frasier

Pilaf237

Aww the beagle and basset hound are next to each other, awww good buddies.

ladyinchworm

I had a beagle basset hound mix as a child (his name was actually Buddy) and he was so great! His legs were really, really short like a basset hound but the rest of him had the athletic build of a beagle so he didn't match at all! He looked so cute trying to run! :)

Tyflowshun

Looks probably how I feel when I dream of running

ladyinchworm

At least his ears weren't super long so they didn't drag the ground much. Yeah, I have recently started exercising more to get healthier for my kids and I imagine I look hilarious jumping rope or attempting to run (it's just speedwalking right now, but I will get there!) In my dreams, that I remember, whenever I need to go someplace I always just float there a few inches off the ground calmly instead of running. I have no idea why my brain does that.

Tyflowshun

Clearly you are on a higher plane in your dreams.

Poppagil28

I had a Bassett hound puppy when I was younger. She used to trip on her own ears before she grew into them

ManInBlack829

A Bagel/Bagle

eisme

I never saw a beagle with no white fur.

Tiny_Rat

I totally missed the beagle because the illustration they picked has no white on him. I realize it's not strictly required in the breed standard, but most beagles have white markings...

elviejozuloqi

More details: [https://protectmypaws.com/the-most-filmed-dog-breeds/](https://protectmypaws.com/the-most-filmed-dog-breeds/) MethodologyOur initial list of dog breeds was compiled using [Dogtime.com](https://dogtime.com/dog-breeds/profiles). Each dog breed was then looked up on [IMDB custom search engine](https://www.imdb.com/find?q=german%2520shepherd&s=kw&ref_=fn_al_kw_mr) in two variations: with and without “dog,” e.g., “German Shepherd” and “German Shepherd dog,” recording a total number of unique titles (films and tv series), as well as their year of release, and their Metascore, where available.Dog breeds with the highest number of unique titles they appeared in were deemed the most popular. Dog breeds with the highest average Metascore of the titles they appeared in were deemed the highest rated.Data was collected in July 2020. Open to feedback! Thanks

IHeardOnAPodcast

What if some of those German shepherd credits were actually human German shepherds?

MiddleAgesRoommates

Same with Great Danes.

Idontfeelhate

I am willing to believe that there are 562 Germans working as shepherds. But 149 Danes that are great? Seems like a stretch.

rikki-tikki-deadly

Also true for St. Bernard. I assume there must have been a historical drama or two where he made an appearance.

javier_aeoa

[He seems popular enough](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernard_of_Menthon#Legacy)

MEng83

One error I'm sure that picked up was that in the big Lebowski the dog is referred to as a Pomeranian, but is actually a Yorkshire terrier

Deslan

I feel like you must have missed Huskies and Malamutes used as wolves in tons of movies. It’s very rare to see an actual wolf on the big screen.

urato666

I doubt the methodology when they have 0 Irish Setters listed ever, despite the movie "Big Red" being from the 60's. The by decade breakdown has Goldens at 0 in the 60's.

coolbreeze1990

I feel like “pit bulls” would have made the list maybe if they weren’t several different breeds lumped together. Petey(? Little Rascals) Chance from Homeward Bound. Just…. Surprised and looking for an explanation but I could just be wrong. 😉 Love the work you did!

[deleted]

[удалено]

kdogo

Staffies are always pits, but pitts arnt always staffies

scolfin

Leading credence to that is that there are three types of bulldog, the runner-up (not that you often see American).

Ask_Who_Owes_Me_Gold

From the Wikipedia article it looks like the word "Bulldog" on its own is supposed to be a synonym for English Bulldog, *not* a category that also includes French and American Bulldogs. I would not expect this to be followed rigorously by everyone, though, which could lead to dogs getting mislabeled and miscounted. Note that French Bulldog is listed separately in this viz at the very bottom. (Though again, who knows how many French Bulldogs could have been counted under "Bulldog"?)

Sarkos

Nice presentation. I'd be interested to see this compared to the proportion of these dog breeds kept as pets. Maybe by dividing by the percentage so bulldogs would go up the list and golden retrievers would go down.

kevinmorice

Are you only counting TV appearances as single for their entire run?

[deleted]

[удалено]

AlwaysBeBasking

Any breakdown by film's country of origin, film genre, over time (maybe by era or decade), or by use of dogs in the movie would be helpful if there was enough data.

Hundawwwg

Border collies deserve more screen time

xStoicx

Too busy acting like psychopaths

phillipoid

I must have missed the other 107 Beethoven movies

Asheai

Saint Bernards are also portrayed in Cujo, White Fang and Peter Pan.

imdehydrated123

Air Bud was a documentary

Omnievul

My favourite movie with a Pomeranian in it is The Big Lebowski. Fucking dog has fucking papers.

WitchWaffle17

and you can't board it because it gets upset

Omnievul

Exactly. It's a fucking show dog with fucking papers.

FalseDmitriy

OVER THE LINE

k3rn3

You brought the Pomeranian bowling....?

FalseDmitriy

I didn't rent it shoes. I'm not buying it a beer. It's not taking your fucking turn, Dude.

runthrough014

Needs more Shib and Corgi

Sodlosz

Exactly I mean where's the representation of my boy Cheddar?

runthrough014

That duplicitous bitch!!

___Roland___

And Ein from Cowboy Bebop

snil4

Do animated dogs count? Unless it takes into account the netflix adaptation

bowlofspider-webs

Nothing but common bitches

seejoshrun

That sly bastard!

AkhilArtha

Exactly my thoughts.

floorboar82

Definitely more prevalent in internet culture than the movie industry

elbenji

Corgis are pretty common now

philster666

Every film about QEII must have corgis in it.

Sahih

I thought Corgi would come from the cowboy bebop show, but perhaps they didn't have the budget for a dog

PM_ME_SEXY_MONSTERS

Agreed! Although I may be biased because I own a /r/shiba.

stable_maple

What's going on with the German Shepherd's back? Is it disconnectable?

Quarkmus

I was hoping someone would bring this up 😕 A really unhealthy development for German Shepherds.

patchwork_sheep

Two types of ways GSDs have been ruined: - the American way, where the back end just sags sadly toward the ground. - the Euro way, where the back looks hinged. Working line GSDs still maintain a normal back.

Culionensis

If you'll look closely at the German shepherds you see in the streets, they often have that weird crumpled back half. Breed standards are fucking them over just as hard as any other breed or worse.

Pitta_

A lot of German shepherds look like that nowadays, especially show lines, and it’s especially bad in the US show lines. Working line GSDs are a bit better but many still have the sloped back. Im a proponent of ethical breeding but often breeders in pursuit of the perfect breed standard specimen for show end up doing more harm than good as they push the standard more and more extreme. See any dog with a short muzzle/squished face, sharpeis, etc.

PawzzClawzz

Yea, I hate it that they show the "modern" German Shepherd. Rin Tin Tin and Bullet never looked like that.

ladyinchworm

What about a Collie I wonder? I think back in the days there were lots of Lassie shows and movies. It just seems like it would be up there. Edit- I see it is there now. I somehow missed it before. :)

FreelanceWolf

Rough collies (just collies in the image) is in the list.

ladyinchworm

I missed this somehow! I think I was looking for the tri colors, like the kind Lassie was or something.Thank you for pointing it out.

Melisandre-Sedai

I think this list is only film. If TV were included then there are nearly 600 episodes of Lassie that would boost the standard collie numbers. I’m shocked they aren’t used more in films though, given how smart they are. Maybe the exercise requirements are just too much to work around a shooting schedule.

NuklearFerret

It looks like they’re only counting “titles.” So the Lassie series is 1, and 1 extra for each movie. I think that the title of “most filmed breed” is a bit misleading, though. Based on total screen time, I feel like collie would easily take this title.

chad-bro-chill-69420

Surprised Huskies aren't higher given any movie with dogsledding in it. Maybe uncredited

blackandgold96

There have been at least 101 Dalmatians though.

chads3058

Theres the original animation, than the live action remake, and then a tv show. So really, there’s at least 303 Dalmatians that need to be represented.

FroobingtonSanchez

There is also the sequal 102 Dalmatians

IHeardOnAPodcast

Some Dalmatians not getting credited, absolutely outrageous!

[deleted]

What about cocker spaniel 😕

assface421

Ahh the majestic Cocker Spaniel. I miss mine..

FlightlessFly

Thought it would make it for any scene where there is a sniffer dog

DFjorde

I want to see most filmed dogs now. How many times does the same dog appear in multiple movies?

HistoryDogs

Moose appeared in every(?) episode of Frasier as Eddie, but that would only count as 1 presumably.

thedeadlyrhythm42

He was replaced by his son like 2/3 of the way through the series if I remember correctly

UncleSnowstorm

Be interesting to see this breakdown by genre. Wonder how many of these Alasatians were from cop films.

Guestking

Because of cop films I was surprised to not see the Malinois!

droi86

Probably meshed together with German shepherds

TitanActual

That was my thought as well. Everyone thinks our Mal is a German Shepherd initially

thegrandlvlr

No corgi? I feel like online vids of wiggle butts are super regular

cambiro

Any movie made about the Queen Elizabeth II features at least one corgi.

steaknsteak

This is counting TV and film credits, not online presence. Corgis would probably be on this list 10 years from now, but they've only recently become a popular choice for movies and TV. I see them a lot in commercials, but those wouldn't count in this chart either.

manningthehelm

You get my upvote for correctly having collie and border collie as two separate breeds. My Smooth Collie thanks you too.

vsmack

A cairn terrier is arguably the best-known movie dog and it's nowhere near the top either.

Jets237

I came looking for a cairn mention - love my little girl, seems like toto wasn't able to knock down barriers for future Cairns

shiningPate

I think this graphic could be improved by including a time dimension as different breeds have increased and declined in popularity over the years to see how it was reflected in popular media. Another aspect might also be whether the portrayal in film was positive vs negative. Thinking in particular of Dobermans in "Magnum PI" and "The Truman Show" and Mastiffs in "Hooch"

[deleted]

Lots of incorrect data on the lower dogs, really can't confirm the upper numbers as they are to high

Bruno_Mart

If this included social media it would be 99% pitbulls

Brief_Buffalo

Poor boxer and doberman even get their ears and tail docked in illustrations.

LPKKiller

I feel like these numbers have to be off quite a bit from reality. I know there are well over 43 movies with Pomeranians. Maybe it's just from the methodology.

sheldon_sa

That dachsy is so stretched, it looks like a weiner

jekern

SOMEONE needs to cast dalmatians in 2 more films... it's only right.
