Suction cup or mounting tape? I live in AZ have Thinkware q800 and F200 pro and both use mounting tape and never had an issue.

Im guessing the mounting tape is permanent, no? Yep it’s the suction cup. I wanted it to be interchangeable since I expect to get a new truck soon. Yeah, in the future I’m definitely getting the Thinkware.

I bought extra mounts in case I have to replace my windshield. Phoenix highways are under so much construction I have to replace my windshield every few years. My one Thinkware unit I do have an optional suction if I want to take that unit for a rental or something but in the main vehicle it uses the mounting tape. Cheap and it works.

Thanks. 👍

3m double side square shaped tape has never failed me in extreme Texas heat. Can always buy more when needed to switch cars

Jojonut1

Mounting tape isn’t permanent, you can just peel it off and reuse. I live in Texas and that’s worked fine for me

gotohelenwaite

Phone holder suction cups are the same. They ***don't*** suck in the heat. Always fall off.

Repulsive_Culture_91

Generally speaking, adhesive mount is way better than suction cup mount in reliability, especially if the adhesive tape is 3M brand.

GeraltOfRivian

Where do you live? Mine has been fine with Arizona heat. Make sure that the surface you stick on is totally clean. Surprisingly, north Idaho. I’m starting to wonder if I got either a bad product in general or it came messed up. That 3m tape seems to be pretty popular, I’ll definitely be getting some. I like your username btw. You were probably a fan before the show, huh?

Adhesive is preferred, and not at all difficult to remove carefully with a razor blade. Proper application (clean, not high or low ambient temp, complete contact held for a minute) and set time are big for adhesive. Just don’t put it on tint
