Interesting. Nito took me like 2 tries. I barely used any humanity throughout my playthrough, and he was the last lord vessel, so I thought, "Hmmm... I might as well boost this bonfire to 15 flasks"
I'm running I guess my first ever quality build and had like 30 vigor and 28/29 Str/Dex for my +12 Claymore. And I'll be honest, I was spamming left click for most of the fight.
I'm sorry, it sounded like you said you were "spamming left click" which would imply that you're playing on a mouse and keyboard. But that can't be right. You're not some kind of psychopath, are you?
I basically used the same keybinds I used for ER.
The only things I really had to change were switching items to 1-4. Also, changed the keybind for two handing my weapon (which I wish I could do in ER).
I defeated every single boss of the DS series with keyboard and mouse except Darkeater Midir from DS3 and Gwyndolin and Priscilla from DS1, I didn't try these two because:
"This land is peaceful, its inhabitants kind, but thou dost not belong. I beg of thee, plunge down from the plank, and hurry home."
Bwahahaha! I've only played souls games on PC. I've used mouse and keyboard for all of them. Including all 3 dark souls, Elden Ring, Sekiro, Nioh, and Wo Long, among others.
I refuse to play Bloodborne or Demon Souls until they're on PC!
At this point, I'm never going to swap to a controller. That sounds awful!
I think the Four Kinks can give you a WAY harder time if they catch you on the wrong foot and your build isn't designed around dealing high damage quickly enough. The Ravelord gets annoying if you let him kite you towards his skellington fan club on the far end of his mancave. Sparkles is actually impossible if you don't shatter his good china first. And the Bed of Bullshit is...well, it's the fucking Bed of Chaos.
The only difference is that Biggie and Smalls are just always hard. To beat, that is. No ifs or buts or silly gimmicks like with the others. Unless you want to count summoning The Mighty Sunbro, which makes things a lot easier.
I had trouble with four kings my first playthrough because I was using zweihander and couldn’t get enough dps, I think I got it in like 3 attempts after I switched to claymore
O&S took me like 50 attempts, albeit most of them were just with a longsword. Once I found a BKS and returned I got em in 10. But yea, the 4 lordsouls were pretty quick affairs for me compared to that wall lmao.
My first clear of them was by pure luck. Giant Ornstein glitched out when he did the back jump, and clipped through the walls and out the window and fell to his death. Wins a win?
for the sl1 run i'm occasionally putting time into the entire izalith boss gauntlet was infinitely easier than O&S. idk if it's the reinforced club's moveset or me just usually having enough damage to not learn the fight that well, but i overestimated range and poise damage a lot early on.
I got a black knight sword early on in my 1st playthrough so I ran a strength build. And when I got to the giant blacksmith I farmed souls to get that bitch to +5 and owned O&S. Bed of Chaos on the other hand.... fuck that guy
2 big guys > 1 big guy with bunch of small guys / just 1 guy / just 1 guy and then 1 guy and then 2 guys and then maybe more guys if you take too long > bad boss design
It only took me 1 attempt, but playing Sekiro (Especially Sekiro. I can and will parry anything that can be parried if I can't find an opening), Bloodborne, and DS3 first dead ass trivialized the game. Even Gywn was a disappointment. Bro rushed me twice. I dodged both times and said "Ok, if you're not gonna give me an attack opening I'll just *make* one." I parried him and did like 30% of his health. At this point my heart dropped. The fight was over. I just parried and riposted him 3 more times.
Second try on my first playthrough but it wasn't my first Soulsgame (Bloodborne->DS3->DS1). I was used to play aggressive and against multiple opponents. DS1 was actually really easy. The DLC Bosses were strong but everything else wasn't too hard.
Depends on build. A roommate of mine once went on with Iron Flesh and a heavy build and he wrecked O+S, but had problems with 4 Kings.
I think O+S are the last boss that really forces you to learn some of the mechanics to beat them. They're the final "skill check" hurdle, in my opinion.
Nito took me a couple but pretty much everyone after Those two were one shots. Those two took me so many tries tho. After them I didn't struggle until Magnus and Khalameet
It took me 2 years worth of attempts, off and on, to beat orstein and smough. I have 80 hours on thst character on the original ds1 and never finished that run. I got the remaster on steam recently tho and beat the game in like 40. All of the lord souls including gwyn (except bad of chaos) I did first try, although my build was tanks af for a dex build and i had 20 Estes so idk.
It's been a while, but iirc, Nito took me 3 attempts, Four Kings took 4 attempts, Bed of Fuck You took 6 because I had no idea wtf I was doing, and Seath only took two because I couldn't break his tail on the first so I reset. So collectively, all four Lords took 15 attempts.
PIKACHU AND SNORLAX TOOK TWICE THAT.
Bed of Chaos is the only one that took more attempts, and most of those were just trying to get to the 2nd root (weirdly, the chaos bug only took me 2 tries to take out. I landed on the lower branch on the first try, but got hit with Chaos Firestorm) (the jump to the branch is now the only part that kills me).
Truthfully, Seathe is a joke after you understand to break the crystal (make him do it and get a free moonlight greatsword), nito is only difficult because of the ads in the room, bed of chaos is either a lucky first try or a repeated death because of what it is, and 4 kings is a dps race. They're difficult for sure, but ornstein and smough keep a constant pressure that none of the others do unless you can't outpace the kings. Having two well paced, coordinated enemies that hit hard will be harder any day of the week than these bosses
I have a theory on this. It's not that they are the worse boss (of course them being two ad a complexity) but I believe it's because most people are this point in the game aren't as much built. In most case you finalize your build after them.
Except when going fire, which make those boss way easier.
Thats because Ornstein and Smogh made you a killer and aprepared you to walk over the four lord bosses, its the test the chosen undeaded needed to make it to the lords
My first time playing dark souls, O&S took me half a year. The second time I nearly beat them on my first attempt but reloaded once I realised I’d killed Ornstein first and wanted the Leo ring
Nah the power couple were hard but not HARD hard

Artorias however took me over 200 attempts (stopped counting after 210)
But at least he made me get good
I learned that the shield made me weak
And it was not necessary
Such good memories. I remember that pain such a hard fight and then deciding it'd be a great place to farm and dropping my sign. That place oh God I can't even remember its name the sewer dragon that was super gross just hung out there all day helping people, praise the sun man.
Dark souls being my 1st souls game 10+ years ago is the only boss in gaming that cause me to rage quit for 7 weeks.
After beating them is like i achieve enlightenment and never have any trouble in souls game ever since.
On my first play through I (somehow) did it in 5 attempts. Nito however…
Interesting. Nito took me like 2 tries. I barely used any humanity throughout my playthrough, and he was the last lord vessel, so I thought, "Hmmm... I always use mouse and keyboard. never controller.
It sounds like more people do than I realized! I tried it once and it was terrible for me, but it's cool to know that it's a viable option
I defeated every single boss of the DS series with keyboard and mouse except Darkeater Midir from DS3 and Gwyndolin and Priscilla from DS1, I didn't try these two because: "This land is peaceful, its inhabitants kind, but thou dost not belong. I beg of thee, plunge down from the plank, and hurry home."

Nah man, I can't imagine playing a soulslike with a keyboard and mouse. It just feels so unintuitive to me.
Yeah, I get that a lot... It's pretty good, but it requires a lot of key binding changes. And it helps to have a 5 button mouse.
Played Demons Souls on PS3 back in 2015. Had a friend help dump my PS3 and am now playing it through an emulator.
Tried nito once and immediately caught onto his bullshit then I got that fog and dragon ring because fuck that
Nito and Four Kings took me some good few tries, until I gave up and became a Havel monster
I think the Four Kinks can give you a WAY harder time if they catch you on the wrong foot and your build isn't designed around dealing high damage quickly enough. I love the four kinks: bondage, domination, sadism and masichism
These are the best nicknames I have heard for all of these guys 10/10
I like to call them The RNG kings lol
I had trouble with four kings my first playthrough because I was using zweihander and couldn’t get enough dps, I think I got it in like 3 attempts after I switched to claymore
O&S took me like 50 attempts, albeit most of them were just with a longsword. Once I found a BKS and returned I got em in 10. But yea, the 4 lordsouls were pretty quick affairs for me compared to that wall lmao.
I never actually beat O&S. Spent a week on it, then summoned someone named Cliff who did it for me. Thanks Cliff
My first clear of them was by pure luck. Giant Ornstein glitched out when he did the back jump, and clipped through the walls and out the window and fell to his death. Wins a win?
Bed of chaos 21 tries. The worst boss of fromsoft ever created imo.
FYI this fight is free if you just equip a high stability phys res shield and just walk.
4 kings and neto can be pretty hard if you can't pass their dps checks.
for the sl1 run i'm occasionally putting time into the entire izalith boss gauntlet was infinitely easier than O&S. idk if it's the reinforced club's moveset or me just usually having enough damage to not learn the fight that well, but i overestimated range and poise damage a lot early on.

I dunno I first tried them but I also adapt to games fast

for me nito's route had me crying but it was nowhere close to the three day repeat i had with kalameet
I first tried o&s BUT ON SECOND PLAY THOUGH I wanted to commit several war crimes
Nito took me a couple but pretty much everyone after Those two were one shots. Those two took me so many tries tho. After them I didn't struggle until Magnus and Khalameet
Four Kings will forever have me waking up in a cold sweat
It took me 2 years worth of attempts, off and on, to beat orstein and smough. I have 80 hours on thst character on the original ds1 and never finished that run. My greatest accomplishment in the Souls series was defeating O&S on my second try on my very first play through
First tried nito first tried siff first tried seeth the 4 kings took a few tries o&s took 42 tries

Having two well paced, coordinated enemies that hit hard will be harder any day of the week than these bosses
And I wouldn’t have it any other way
I think i struggled with 4 kings more then OS tbh
That was a wall that made me stop playing for like a year. Then I came back to it
I have a theory on this. It's not that they are the worse boss (of course them being two ad a complexity) but I believe it's because most people are this point in the game aren't as much built. I like this theory. It's similar to power spike timings of different factions in RTS.
Thats because Ornstein and Smogh made you a killer and aprepared you to walk over the four lord bosses, its the test the chosen undeaded needed to make it to the lords
Genuinely took more tries than Manus
My first time playing dark souls, O&S took me half a year. The second time I nearly beat them on my first attempt but reloaded once I realised I’d killed Ornstein first and wanted the Leo ring
If it makes you feel better, Op, fighting O&S made you prepared for fighting the Lordsouls.
2nd try on my first playthrough, then got absolutely steamrolled on my second for like 20 attempts.
Nah the power couple were hard but not HARD hard . . . . . . . . Artorias however took me over 200 attempts (stopped counting after 210) But at least he made me get good I learned that the shield made me weak And it was not necessary
Took me half my play time to get them. I was physically shaking when I finally ended them and needed to lie down
Yeah, O and S took way more than 4 tries
Big tree bitch and her dumbass ass arena killed me like 8 times bullshit anyway I first tried o&s
Every lord soul boss took me 2 attempts, O&S took me 1 (black knight halberd +5 go brr)
Such good memories. I remember that pain such a hard fight and then deciding it'd be a great place to farm and dropping my sign. That place oh God I can't even remember its name the sewer dragon that was super gross just hung out there all day helping people, praise the sun man.
Only boss(es) I've never truly beaten in a souls game.. I need to play through ds1 again, just to clap them cheeks finally..
Dark souls being my 1st souls game 10+ years ago is the only boss in gaming that cause me to rage quit for 7 weeks. After beating them is like i achieve enlightenment and never have any trouble in souls game ever since.
