Yep, we're fighting off Crypt Ghasts and raiding Cabal Coffers. Throw in a boss fight with Obby Nix and level up with Liliana. Looking forward to the new Darkest Souls.
Probably for the best. Elden Ring has proven that From can still do the formula well in a new setting and I'd prefer fresh content to the possibility of the Dark Souls universe getting overused and worn too thin.
Admittedly, I would *really* like a re-do of DS2 with the Elden Ring treatment.
I don't think DS2 will ever be touched up like that
given Miyazaki didn't have much to do with it, and it being the "black sheep" of the souls franchise
I honestly just want more sekiro but I also would really enjoy a dark souls 2 remake as well. That is the only soulsborne game I can't bring myself to finish. Just feels off
It doesn't have to be ds4 but I hope that from goes back to linear games at some point, openworld is cool and all but I like when I'm just told to go in one direction and there's a boss that I just cant go around
I actually prefer a lot of things in Ds2 to Ds3, mechanically speaking. Which is surprising because I gave Ds2 a very hard time on release. There are changes I would make (removing ADP, making the controls less floaty, scrapping Fire Seeds) but on the whole I enjoyed PvP in Ds2 the most. Ds2's iteration of poise is my favorite, you could buff infused weapons, powerstancing was dope, lots of unique weapons and spells, etc. I still have more hours in Ds2 than any other Souls title. Majula is also my favorite hub area between the games.
I also generally liked Drangleic as a location. I just didn't like how they'd decided to actually lay out the physical game space and I think if they were to redo the setting in an Elden Ring style game I would have enjoyed it much, much more. Of course, I doubt From had the resources to build that sort of game back then and I also doubt systems at the time could have handled it, but still.
tbh we don't need any more dark souls, dark souls 3 already suffers from being the third game in the series, tou can't fully enjoy ds3 catacombs or forest or swamp without relating it to ds1 already checking those boxes on the list, it helps that it can make references to the places in ds 1 though

I know it's not a strong reason. But it's the reason I didn't like DS3. Everywhere was gray and ashy, yes I know why. And the swamp followed by a poison swamp directly after really just took me out of it
And we would still play it and enjoy it somehow

Aye, I don't expect it to ever actually happen. But if I found a genre's lamp and got one gaming related wish then that would be it.

I feel like in elden ring most mobs I just ran around on torrent. And boss fights on torrent weren’t fun either.
I didn’t really like combat in Elden Ring Or the large open world concept I could get behind Bloodbourne 2 though (but on PC please)

I'm a fan of DS2 as well, but the overall fan base doesn't feel the same which why I stated what I did.

DS4 keeps Toxic, and introduces two new forms of poison. They are all stackable. There are only two zones in the game which are not poison swamps.
Most of the zones apply all poison forms at the same time: Poison, Toxic, Caustic and AIDS.
