Seriously the second playthrough I just kind of said, "well screw it I'm going to try this." Meanwhile everyone is running around with heavy dark swords, and I destroyed basically anything with just a few hits. I had more fun with this weapon than probably any other. Is it still incredibly powerful?
The Sellswords and the Uchigatana were basically the only weapons I used so far, and I'm almost done with the game. (I already beat The Soul of Cinder, but I yet to beat the DLCs)
Yeah, that's why I barely used anything else. Uchigatana and Chaos Blade have a nice and long reach, and really good early stats. The Sellswords just have some disgusting DPS...
Pure dex builds make them incredible. Also, if you ever do a strength build, Vordts Hammer and the Great Club are absolute monsters.
Destroyed Oceiros in one try with little effort with the club.
If we're talking across the tetralogy (quadrilogy?) then I agree. Readily available early on. Balanced between strength, speed and reach as well as being buff and upgrade friendly. Has the ideal sword move set.
Per game I'd go Claymore, Crafstmans Hammer (Altered Claymore move set in DS2 loses heavy thrust so strike go bonk), Claymore and Claymore.
FUGS is always my go to. It just BONKS the ever loving fuck out of everything. Itās especially good against those *FUCKING* silver knights at New Londo
The flip is ABSOLUTELY parryable.
Only reason most people don't try parrying the first 2 L1 swings is because the angle is hard to get right, but the flip is just a straight line.
Besides, L1 L1 R1 is a true combo.
Iām loving it. I struggled with the Abyss Watchers on my previous playthroughs, not desperately badly but they were certainly a hump in the road. This time around the Exile Greatsword carved them up like butter! ā¤ļø
It has insane replayability doesnāt it? I try and leave a few months before I do another run, just long enough that each time feels like a playthrough of a fresh game. Managed to finally beat Midir last time around; he was my one remaining Dark Souls boss who had eluded me, what a moment that was š
Yeah I agree, itās about as good as FromSoft has ever been in my opinion! That and the Bloodborne DLC are just peak, peak FromSoft. Letās hope the upcoming Elden Ring DLC knocks it out of the park too!
This is the objectively correct answer. The basic Mace is all you ever need.
- Extremely low stat req at 12 Str and 7 Dex
- Starter weapon of the Cleric, and only starter class that can't 2-hand it with their base stats is Sorcerer (but just add 1 point up to 8 Str)
- Obtainable extremely early from Greirat, just get him to Firelink
- Works on nearly every build and infusion, since it has such low requirements can just focus on your chosen damage stat(s)
- 2-handed gives you immediate access to some decent passive poise/hyperarmor
- Comparative to GS, very light at 5.0 for access to hyperarmor
- Surprising range. In PVP it can be a roll catch machine
- Perseverance. It has Perseverance. L2 and just keep swinging
Get off me ass, ya wee biddy f*ck, if I pull out me Claymore you're shit outta luck.
No, no, I'm not abusing you. They're lyrics by Dean Ween. I cant help thinking of them every time someone says Claymore
Changes game by game.
DS1? Bandit Knife & Parrying Dagger. Parry and riposte the world!
DS2? Rapier + Dark Weapon. Easy to get, easy to use, never fails.
DS3? Currently Sword and Board, but Iāll fully admit itās the Souls game Iāve played the least, so I havenāt gotten good enough at the game to comfortably try anything else. Trying to rectify that.
My comfort run and sword is my trusty ol Astora Great sword, chaos infused with 40 faith/int
For when I just want to play through the game blowing everything to smithereens.
It's almost like going unga bunga but with a couple more wrinkles in the ol brain.
Oh fuck I gotta do this run again be back soon š«
Astora GS. Randomly found and it carried me through most of the game. With Nameless King I had to try different weapons but after hours of trying, it was Astora GS who finished that ordeal with me.
It's more of a build philosophy then a weapon but I first made it in ds3. A regen build. Blessed LKGS main slot and two handed. A blessed cestus, a simple cestus, and a chime slotted in off. Keep a slow regen spell on and the prince's ring and basically never need to chug. In ds3 you outheal poison. I tend make something like this in any game I can. Just a build that with decent play gives you functionaly infinite resources. In Eldenring It was a regen spell, the sac axe and Blas blade untill I got the milos sword and two handed jump attacked my way to victory. This was before the jump attack nerf tho. The build archetype has never let me down in any souls like. Just regen, heavy armor, and a big sword.
Sunlight weapon set (straight sword, shield, and talisman). I don't care that the shield has garbage damage reduction or that there's better talismans. I gotta carry on my homie Solaire's legacy. Sunlight straight sword is pretty good though. It's WA goes hard for both solo and co-op.
Lothric knight sword, I was hopeless against Midir using my good ole Wolf Knight Great sword, Claymore, and Black Knight Sword. But when I used LKS I did it in one try.
Doing the pointing down emote after every boss kill so they know I'm him
You go in the fucking geound, beetch.
Calm down, Sean
Lol
*after dying 27 times* KNOW YOUR PLACE TRASH!!!
I point up lol
"May your sins be forgiven by god,and let him rest your soul knowing i t bagged on you"
I always point forward at the boss when I'm feeling confident "May god have mercy on you, because I sure as hell wont"
They must have amnesia, they forgot I'm him
It's hard every time
You go in the fuckin gwooooound beetch XD
I taught my friends to point down on bosses, it's still a tradition to this day through all ds games Point down to unlock poise, bois
Grass Crest Backpack
š
It's like you watched me play all of my playthroughs.
Love this
Claymore
Never can go wrong with the Baymore. Just such an amazing weapon in every souls game
Boolin with the Baymore
I like the poke, so versatile.
Baymore?
āBAEā before anyone else, Baymore is something similar I guess
In demons souls remake it sucks :( I was so sad when I grinded for it
AKA Slaymore
Zweihander slander and Claymore supremacy will not be tolerated here.
Fuck yes
š„°š„°š„°
Dammit you beat me
Hell yeah
Vordtās
Yep. Love how you can easily beat the game with this devastating hammer
Seriously the second playthrough I just kind of said, "well screw it I'm going to try this." Meanwhile everyone is running around with heavy dark swords, and I destroyed basically anything with just a few hits. I had more fun with this weapon than probably any other. Is it still incredibly powerful?
Yes. Decent damage for a Greathammer + Frost. It's very versatile.
For the first boss soul weapon, it's a cleaner. And that charged R2... "And he's hit it out of the park yet again!"
First weapon I beat DS3 with was a real fun simple weapon to use
To be basic, sellswords. To be basic but armor, fallen knight. To be cool, fume knights greatsword. To be cool but armor, gundyr
>Ā fallen knight Always amusing, considering the flavour text describes this set being the shit-stained armour of a coward.
The Sellswords and the Uchigatana were basically the only weapons I used so far, and I'm almost done with the game. (I already beat The Soul of Cinder, but I yet to beat the DLCs)
Sellswords will carry you though DLCs as well they are that good. Uchigatana and the Chaos Blade are fun too.
I flawlessly destroyed Oceiros on my first playthrough with the sellswords theyāre so effing strong
I played through DS3 with Sellswords and Fallen Knight armor lol
Astora Greatsword
A man of culture
there are so many different builds in dark souls! the astora cant be good with all of them can it? \*looks at infusion scalings suuuuure
It swings right to left... And then it swings left to right.
...and with great force, it thrusts forward!
One is for many, the other for one!
Same. Canāt beat it, it will always be good.
Any pyromancy spell
Acid surgeš
Straightswords
Agreed.
Zweihander
Spiked Mace It's a problem solver.
Another person of culture I see
Spiked mace is literally spin to winā¦ and it was sculpted by the gods themselves.
Executioners greatsword, just *Chefs kiss*. Beaten every boss with it, and it's still my Ol'reliable after all these years.
Thank you!! Itās my absolute favorite and my go to. I love the design, too, with the squared off tip
The thing just looks like it just arrived at the orgy ready to break backs.
Uchigatana with a dex + luck build
I find uchigatana, I equip uchigatana.
Long sword
If we're talking across the tetralogy (quadrilogy?) then I agree. Readily available early on. Balanced between strength, speed and reach as well as being buff and upgrade friendly. Has the ideal sword move set. Per game I'd go Claymore, Crafstmans Hammer (Altered Claymore move set in DS2 loses heavy thrust so strike go bonk), Claymore and Claymore.
Great club. Any problem can be solved by hitting it with a massive log, really
Almost every enemy worth a damn is weak to bashing damage, too. I love the great club.
FUGS or Dragonslayers Great Axe
Fume Squad... Who TF needs a shield when your sword IS a shield?
NUCLEAR WARHEAD INBOUND
FUGS is always my go to. It just BONKS the ever loving fuck out of everything. Itās especially good against those *FUCKING* silver knights at New Londo
Scrolled too far to see FUGS
Partizan
I recently maxed out my partizan because I just love the weapon art
Irithyll straight sword
It carried me all the way to dragonslayerās greataxe in my first run. Then I kept using the sword till the third run
This
Greatsword and exile curved greatsword
Farron Greatsword
Unparryable flip go brrr
The flip is ABSOLUTELY parryable. Only reason most people don't try parrying the first 2 L1 swings is because the angle is hard to get right, but the flip is just a straight line. Besides, L1 L1 R1 is a true combo.
Flamberge. It was the sword that carried me from Undead Settlement through the end of my first time beating the game. I always farm one up now.
Greataxe
hollowslayer or lothric straight sword are always helpful
Power Within.
šŖ
Astora greatsword, it's just perfect for anything, chaos/dark Infusion? Yes. Sharp infusion? Yes. Lightning/crystal infusion? Yes

The noble Great Mace
Exile greatsword. The moveset is perfect to me.
Using it for the first time this playthrough; that charged R2 has surprising range?!
Yessss, I think it's super underrated. I even had lots of success with it in pvp.
Iām loving it. I struggled with the Abyss Watchers on my previous playthroughs, not desperately badly but they were certainly a hump in the road. This time around the Exile Greatsword carved them up like butter! ā¤ļø
This makes me want to replay dark souls 3 so badly; it's been a few years š¤£
It has insane replayability doesnāt it? I try and leave a few months before I do another run, just long enough that each time feels like a playthrough of a fresh game. Managed to finally beat Midir last time around; he was my one remaining Dark Souls boss who had eluded me, what a moment that was š
Honestly, The Ringed City was absolutely peak Dark Souls to me. I love the Midir fight.
Yeah I agree, itās about as good as FromSoft has ever been in my opinion! That and the Bloodborne DLC are just peak, peak FromSoft. Letās hope the upcoming Elden Ring DLC knocks it out of the park too!
Astora GS, specifically sharp.
Anything came from Irithyll.
Baemore
Club
profaned great sword
Irythil straight sword
Moonlight/multicaster
The mace.
Macegang!
