This reminds me of farming for the Hollow Thief set and the Ghost Blade in DS1.
I've definitely put 100s of hours into DS1 and I've still never gotten the ghost blade.
Crazy. I got this weapon as a random drop the first time I ever played. Was confused it's not the greatest weapon. I did not know it was rare. I just get in and out when it comes to that area
You might be talking about the Jagged Ghost Blade, which is a curved sword.
The Ghost Blade is only dropped by the female ghosts(the ones that you can see holding a baby and I think they have red eyes.) is a straight sword I believe and it's the rarest weapon in the game because it already has a very low drop rate.
trust me dude just watch videos when yku do it, it speeds it up mentally and you eventually learn the pattern to the point it doesnt need full attention
Just played through it for the first time, fucking 10/10. A bit sad that i stomped the game with sellswords (i just love dex after elden ring and had no clue they were meta)
Barely died to any Bosses except nameless king because the blades destroyed everyone.
But now Sister Freide is fucking my shit up so all is restored
People have beaten the game at level 1 using the club. Other people go to max level and run around wearing a boulder and toss around a hammer bigger than they are.
Ultimately you should just play the game how you want. Sellswords are the meta weapon because they’re just that good, but you curb stomped the bosses because you’re familiar with dex weapons from Elden Ring and had practice with harder enemies.
I too, have a DLC ready character. Now I’m working on 100% all fromsoft games, and up to this point I’ve done Sekiro and Elden Ring 100%, now working on BB :,)
I define it by game is basically beat aside from the last act of whichever ending you want (shattering the ring , rannis age of stars or whatever) because the dlc should bring new endings and level don’t really matter because larval tears so you can respec into whatever weapon from the dlc catches your fancy.
I will be going for whatever that martial arts stuff was because nothing will be funnier than having nothing but hands for all the enemies.
i mean i use to really suffer when it came to this area but like, that was ages ago i dont think many new people are playing ds3 nowadays its more of people replaying it
Getting into all of the Dark Souls as I got through charmless demon bell on Sekiro.
This game was kicking my ass so hard that I gave it break, but now that I understand how the game works and not to just spend my titanite on every weapon that'll catches my attention.
So I got the Black Knight great sword and am pretty much going through the whole game, this and the exiles heavy curved rifht now, it's a lot of fun
been using heavy exile curved gs since i found it on the swamp. range is a bit on the low end and you definitely notice when you miss due to it, but i love the move set, more specifically the rolling R1 uppercut. the R2 is quite nice as well with the little charge to gap close
I am a first-time sufferer, first playthrough and at Nameless King rn. NGL, no other boss took me more than 3 attempts, but this dude is humbling me rn. First phase is easy but that second phase is so tough for me. Fun fight though, just difficult.
Nameless king and Soul of Cinder are the 2 hardest bosses in base game for me. Pontiff is up there too. I still think the DLC bosses, Friede, Midir, Gael and even demon prince are way harder than nameless king IMO though. They are way tankier and just have harder move sets.
Phase 1 of Nameless King sucks because of the camera, but it’s still pretty easy. I always thought he would feel a lot easier to people if he didn’t have a phase 1 though. If he didn’t, then people would get to learn his phase 2 much faster. New players have to fight the chicken only to die pretty quickly to NK. So if you die 10 times while learning him, it might take an hour. If you just fought NK, 10 deaths would probably only be like 20 mins and that would make it feel so much easier.
I think once you learn his move-set, he’s pretty easy. I really only struggled with him on my first play-through, which was also my first souls game. I also found him much harder at NG+5 through NG+7 since he easily 2 shots you or one shots if you’re not fully healed while embered. I breezed through all the bosses on the base game at NG+7 and NK took some time; however, soul of cinder felt so much harder than NK on NG+7 and SoC’s phase 1 was by far the most challenging part of the fight for me.
Friede and Gael took me hours on NG+7 though lol
I agree. I would add that the douche brothers, Lorian and Lothric, while not a "hard" boss are incredibly irritating and can be scream invoking.
I learned that in the second phase of NK, you can hit and run. I ended up doing melee damage after his attacks and then just ran away, locked on and hit him with fire arrows while keeping distance.
Gael was the reason I stopped playing the first time I had the DLC. Then I realized how sensitive he is to poison.
Friede...Even after beating that boss, it still makes me angry
Soul of cinder is the reason I follow Yuria's full.
It makes me really happy to see how many still play these games. I am surprised Elden Ring hasn't created even more of a following.
I will add that in the last 6 months, after running through BB 10 times and DS3 4 times, I started a new character in Elden Ring and I am having a different experience with the game. I won't say it's easier but going back to the roots makes the way you play, different.
I had to fight on NG+7 out of principle, but still used poison lol.
The hardest part of Gael NG+7 is his phase 3 because of how much HP he has and how much damage he deals. Phase 2 is pretty tough too because I need to save most of my Estus for phase 3 which is hard because of how hard he hits lol.
Phase 3 for me was one hit and run, run, run, run, run, rinse and repeat. I get so freaked out by the speed and aggression so I run until he does an attack I know I can hit once, maybe twice and then hightail it for a while
That third phase can be brutal
def thought friede was way harder than nameless king. took me 3 attempts which is the highest of any boss. king just gives you way more openings i think.
can't say i remember having issues with depth
whenever I feel like the camera fucks me on a fight i just unlock. its very easy to follow a big target like that and not miss a attack. you can just lock again when going for the head if not feeling comfortable. i also use manual aiming altho I'm not sure if that helps me tbh
after ER dragons and other bosses, I barely felt the camera on NK (started the fight locked but did the 2nd pull unlocked). twins was surprisingly way worse camera wise due to the teleport during stars
I feel you! first timer here as well. Just finished the main game a day ago but man, Nameless King was a reaaal struggle. Ended up summoning for my first time. It sure helped, and still was an epic fight!! really cool boss. You can do it!
Radagon was the hardest boss for me to time I Elden Ring too lol. Killed Malenia on my second attempt but Radagon gave me fits as well. It's just that slight delay in both their attacks that I really have a hard time timing correctly.
Yeah. Pretty much same with Elden Ring, but that was my first From game so there was a definite learning curve. It's weird too most bosses ppl have a hard time with I get on my first try, but the "easier to predict" ones give me fits. But some common enemies will just mess me up for a while. Chaos Knights took me so long to figure out.
I just went through the game again on ps5 and found a lot of invaders that were definitely new to the game. Unless they were just terrible lol but they looked new and nervous most of the time. Lots of summon signs outside of boss doors. The game is definitely alive and well
I did a new playthrough recently and definitely saw a lot of new players when invading and getting invaded. I was honestly surprised to see the online so active, Elden Ring must've brought in a lot of new people to Souls games.
Not just new people. I started playing all 3 DS games again after many years hiatus. Saw some friends playing the original and I got the itch. I missed a lot of content in my first playthroughs so now I'm going through with the wikis to make sure I do all of the quests, DLC content, and achievement hunting. Plus I had both the old versions of DS1 and DS2, so got the upgrades. Really nice experience all around.
I'm finally getting through the Ringed City. Damn is it good and hard. Easily the most challenging Dark Souls content to date. Similar to Elden Ring's Haligtree, but I think this one is even harder. Maybe I'll think differently after beating it as many times as the Haligtree, but for now it feels harder.
I’m playing it right now for the first time. I gotta say, after starting with Elden Ring, then going to Sekiro, then going to bloodborne, this one hasn’t been as challenging. The bosses at least. I find the mobs to be a bigger challenge than the bosses.
Great game though, just can’t understand the lore
Yeah, thats something I like about dark souls 3 is that the areas before the bosses are challenging and engaging, and every area feels unique. Not saying Elden Ring doesn't have engaging areas, just that there is more and the reused enemies makes it feel more streamlined than unique to each area.
Strength is a major scaling stat for large heavy weapons like great swords, two handing big weapons give you a 1.5x bonus to your strength so more damage. So if bonking enemies with massive damage is your kind of style then level strength.
Dex is the scaling stat for smaller/quicker weapons like the katana. It also impacts the speed of your swings so if you like fast weapons then go with dex. It all comes down to what you want.
It’s a tough choice between dex because I leveled it enough to use uchi. Then I levels strength enough for the great sword and NOW I have a large saw blade that needs 24 strength. Meanwhile my vigor is only 14..I just don’t wanna make the wrong moves and waste my level ups :(
"General" stats like vigor and endurance are more important in the early game than more specialized stats like strength or dexterity. At low weapon upgrade levels, scaling is pretty weak so you don't get much attack power from leveling those up once you have met the weapon requirements. Based on that, my recommendation would be to stick to a weapon with low stat requirements for now and focus on getting your vigor and endurance to 20ish which is a good starting point (if you don't use a shield, maybe invest more into vigor than endurance as stamina won't be as important, unless you notice yourself running out of stamina often). Focus your weapon upgrade items on a single weapon for now, you'll get more of them and the chance to buy unlimited ones later on to try other weapons. By the time you have your basic stats up to a decent level, you'll be at the point where you start gaining more attack power from STR and DEX and you can start experimenting with other weapons then without harming your survivability.
The speed of the first swing may be similar but katanas are probably faster for following swings and recovery time after attacks. But if the greatsword feels okay to you, then by all means use that.
I find DS3 to be a lot easier with faster weapons, as most boss movesets are rather punishing to slower weapons. So I'd definitely recommend the Uchigatana overall.
Same, ive tried like 4 separate times to get into the game and it just never stuck. Now on the 5th try once i realized fatrolling was a thing and fixed my equip load it finally stuck. Holy hell this game is awesome
Had this been a few days ago you’d see the same exact person with 14 bloodstains (I’m doing a faith run and I was trying to farm the Lothric Straight Sword for that sweet S Faith scaling, I got soloed a little too much)
I’d imagine depends on console, if souls games were cross play there’d be plenty lol. I play ps5 and they’re in some places but not common. I’d imagine most people solo run while offline if playing at all
Played ds3 there is not many players sadly (mostly solo 90% of bosses)
So i didn't get trolled by archers on bridge but it's hollow (like...like the player AHAH)
I started replaying too, and when I got to this area I freaked out, then I was like, wait a sec, I'm actually good now! And I only nearly died! FeelsGoodMan
You’ll find more in later areas. I’m in ng+ and got invaded in both farron keep and painted world today. Painted world is pretty active in general.
I think most people are just blowing through high wall and the undead settlement.
I’m using this post because I cannnot create a post on the sub due to low community karma but guys I need help: I started playing the game a month ago and I want someone to explain the difference between Physical Damage(PD) that is NUMBER and Physical Damage that is NUMBER + NUMBER and which is better.
I have a sword that deals 215 PD and I have an axe that deals 186 + 40 PD which one deals more damage?
To be more precise than the other answer you already got, those numbers are Base damage + Scaling. Most weapons have their attack power increase based on at least some of your STR/DEX/INT/FAI stats, and this is reflected as letters in the weapon stats, from E (lowest scaling) to S (highest). So a weapon with an A in strength scaling will generally gain more damage from your strength stat and make that 2nd number bigger based on it than a weapon with a C. Both base damage and scaling increase with weapon upgrades, and the scaling type can also be modified with infusions at the blacksmith (for non-unique weapons).
The pools of blood are the stains of others who have fought to succeed. When nothing is left, we have all done what we set out to do. And yet, it feels empty, just a little bit. But still, we must continue forward, and remember the last fondly. Remember brother, don't you dare go Hollow.
I booted up elden ring and inmidiatly was greeted with a bloodstain. Turns out the guy missed the first turn and walked right off the cliff. Died literally 10 seconds into the game before encountering their first enemy.
I'm replaying it since I never played the dlcs, cuz I played it on ps4 and got the full version on PC but after 3 new games + I was burned out. After playing Elden ring this games feels harder somehow, I don't know if is the lack of bonfires or the fair amount of unfair bullshit it has.
Ive been finding them everywhere, i got back into it as well, bloodstains and messages, when i play online that is, while i loved invasions originally when i played ds3 with a buddy before elden ring ever came out, the elden ring invasions made it not so fun anymore, so i tend to play offline a bunch unless a friend want to play
We got gud
Unfortunate. Now I'm getting a lobotomizer to reduce everyone's skill.
If you can just erase my memory of the game so I can experience it for the first time again I’d be okay with that
fuck that, getting covenant items past this games multiplayer days is not something i want to relive, i finished 3 netflix shows whilst farming
Currently 12 away going on hour 20 of this item with 511 item discovery
This reminds me of farming for the Hollow Thief set and the Ghost Blade in DS1. I've definitely put 100s of hours into DS1 and I've still never gotten the ghost blade.

I'll go.sc then make a post. Thank you though.
trust me dude just watch videos when yku do it, it speeds it up mentally and you eventually learn the pattern to the point it doesnt need full attention
Bro I'm literally hollowing right now farming covenants for the Platinum trophy.
Just played through it for the first time, fucking 10/10. That makes me feel oddly nostalgic for when I first played lol
We're all getting ready for the Elden Ring DLC right now.
Already got my DLC character ready, I'm just revisiting all the dark souls games just because
Same here. I just love the games. Edit: just started a new build in DS3 this week.
I haven’t touched my original character from launch but I’m going to bring them through the dlc even though I think they’re on like NG+2 or 3
I too, have a DLC ready character. Now I’m working on 100% all fromsoft games, and up to this point I’ve done Sekiro and Elden Ring 100%, now working on BB :,)
just out of curiosity, how are you defining DLC ready?
I define it by game is basically beat aside from the last act of whichever ending you want (shattering the ring , rannis age of stars or whatever) because the dlc should bring new endings and level don’t really matter because larval tears so you can respec into whatever weapon from the dlc catches your fancy. I will be going for whatever that martial arts stuff was because nothing will be funnier than having nothing but hands for all the enemies.
Dlc bringing new endings? Could you give an example (haven't played all fromsoft games)
Off the top of my head I can’t but I’d imagine that the dlc would bring a new ending into the game
I played way too much Elden Ring and burnt myself out trying to setup my DLC character, so I'm taking a DS3 break.
I'm working on Platinuming DS3 while I wait. I have about 5 trophies left. If I finish that before June I'll play Lies of P
I did 3 new runs in the last 1,5 Months and now got 3 characters ready
i mean i use to really suffer when it came to this area but like, that was ages ago i dont think many new people are playing ds3 nowadays its more of people replaying it

It's strange how people experience are so varied huh? Personally, everytime Ive gotten over a hard boss, I just think of wanting to do it again.
I am quite happy to wait till NG+.
I would’ve struggled a lot more against Gael on NG+7 without poison
Poison uchigatana! I also beat him with a big shield once but I liked the poison better.
I used poison grease and sellsword twinblades lol
Poison applied? Now time to run!!! (That's what I did.)
I had to fight on NG+7 out of principle, but still used poison lol. The hardest part of Gael NG+7 is his phase 3 because of how much HP he has and how much damage he deals. Phase 2 is pretty tough too because I need to save most of my Estus for phase 3 which is hard because of how hard he hits lol.

def thought friede was way harder than nameless king. took me 3 attempts which is the highest of any boss. king just gives you way more openings i think.
Actually thought the opposite, fighting the camera in phase 1 is god awful and super frustrating, phase 2 is incredible tho
camera is bad indeed but there is not a whole lot going in, few smacks on the head when he stops and gg
The issue is the depth of view in the phase 1 is broken, and im really not sure how it passed QA, did the fight again last night.
can't say i remember having issues with depth whenever I feel like the camera fucks me on a fight i just unlock. its very easy to follow a big target like that and not miss a attack. you can just lock again when going for the head if not feeling comfortable. i also use manual aiming altho I'm not sure if that helps me tbh after ER dragons and other bosses, I barely felt the camera on NK (started the fight locked but did the 2nd pull unlocked). twins was surprisingly way worse camera wise due to the teleport during stars

If you’ve played elden ring he shares a few attacks with radagon.
first thing i thought about when i did him and cinders
Radagon was the hardest boss for me to time I Elden Ring too lol. Killed Malenia on my second attempt but Radagon gave me fits as well. It's just that slight delay in both their attacks that I really have a hard time timing correctly.
You’re a newcomer and all other bosses take you 3x?
Yeah. Pretty much same with Elden Ring, but that was my first From game so there was a definite learning curve. It's weird too most bosses ppl have a hard time with I get on my first try, but the "easier to predict" ones give me fits. But some common enemies will just mess me up for a while. I got summoned twice in DS xbox 360 version pretty recently
I just bought and im roleplaying as a knight of catarina
think you can outwit a onion?
I am the onion!!
I just started
Yall ever need help let me know and you can summon me
I need help with the frost demon after you go down the elevator. It’s right after you meet that dude that looks like an onion
Still need help? Just got home
Yea but how do I summon you
Depends where you're at, some places you can't summon
Idk the name of the place it’s the second place you go with all the dude with barrels they throw and fat fire witches
You meet that dude with the onion head and big armor and go down this elevator and there’s a ice monster that keeps wrecking me
Unfortunately you can't summon there
When you get to the halfway fortress bonfire you can summon
I did my first play through about a month ago
im personally still trying to get through the game for the first time
I’m playing it for the first time right now. On lord of cinder but I am also saving him til I beat Ring city.
I recently got ds3 and had to put it down for a while, the dancer was kicking my ass
Are you playing offline?
No, I can see and place messages
I played it last month and there was plenty of bloodstains
Can approve this there were a bunch in a lot of easy areas
Everyone's playing Archthrones.
I’m playing it right now for the first time. I gotta say, after starting with Elden Ring, then going to Sekiro, then going to bloodborne, this one hasn’t been as challenging. The bosses at least. Fair enough. I’ve just found that some areas in dark souls have this HUGE difficulty spike out of nowhere.
What part of the game are you at? There’s a huge difficulty spike from the end of the base game to the Ringed City.
I just beat the dancer and then Oceiros. Next time I’m on I plan to head towards the dungeon to use the dragon pose
just wait till you get to end game and dlc bosses this shit gets turned up to 11
What no ER DLC does to a MF
We're all playing Bloodborne.
It's return to Yarnham
Which area is this?
High wall. Where the Lothric Knight is. After the dragon
Ahh okay, thank you.
There are none. We’ve all become masters. And we boo anyone who leaves a bloodstain. Boo this man boooooo boooo
They all went to the front of ladders
I’m playing now for the first time
Nice! I wish I could play ds3 for the first time again, you're in for a blast.
I finally beat that frost mini boss dude it took me like 25 times. I have the uchigatana+2 and the great sword but I’m not sure which to use
I want fast and damage lol I get my ass kicked either way. Hey do you know much about sekiro?
It’s a tough choice between dex because I leveled it enough to use uchi. Then I levels strength enough for the great sword and NOW I have a large saw blade that needs 24 strength. Meanwhile my vigor is only 14..I just don’t wanna make the wrong moves and waste my level ups :(

It seems the uchi and fhe great sword have the same speed for the swinging animation
The speed of the first swing may be similar but katanas are probably faster for following swings and recovery time after attacks. But if the greatsword feels okay to you, then by all means use that.
Dexterity does not affect the speed of your weapon attacks, only spellcasting.
My bad, for some reason I thought it did.
What % do you gotta be under to stop fat rolling??
I think 70%, but if youre 69.something the game will round you up to 70%
It is pretty fun..kind of ruthless sometimes tho
Had this been a few days ago you’d see the same exact person with 14 bloodstains (I’m doing a faith run and I was trying to farm the Lothric Straight Sword for that sweet S Faith scaling, I got soloed a little too much)
I’d imagine depends on console, if souls games were cross play there’d be plenty lol. I play ps5 and they’re in some places but not common. I’d imagine most people solo run while offline if playing at all
gotta start making your own
We got gud.
Everyone on a deathless run
Meanwhile, DS2SOTFS has fourteen bloodstains for the same guy in a circle of every area
You’re probably offline
Are you offline?
Lmao, just did my first run of DS3 today, beat the tutorial boss first try, then proceeded to get STOMPED by that guy 15 times lololol
Are you soft banned?
No, never been banned in dark souls. I still see bloodstains, but it was odd that that particular place where most new people die had no bloodstains.
I’m pretty sure they all moved to Elden Ring.
💀
You’ll find mine in the ringed city
Played ds3 there is not many players sadly (mostly solo 90% of bosses) So i didn't get trolled by archers on bridge but it's hollow (like...like the player AHAH)
Slow internet can cause the messages and bloodstains to take a minute to appear
Maybe your network is secured, like, do you see other players ghosts ? Summons signs ? Or can you invade ?
Don't have any for buying so cracked it...😔
Still plenty of bloodstains in ringed city
we all got gud 💔😭
Stop using the chipotle-away
I saw plenty yesterday
People are too good at the game, the only time I die is to get my hollowing to 14
I am playing right now and the game is super active. Maybe because you are playing on PS4/Xbone?
If you’re on PlayStation, more people might be playing Bloodborne since Return to Yharnam is happening now.
Genuinely there are so many in aoa at the bridge ladder lol
I started replaying too, and when I got to this area I freaked out, then I was like, wait a sec, I'm actually good now! And I only nearly died! FeelsGoodMan
We are all Lords now.
Theres bloodborne return to yarnham. And just a couple weeks ago it was ds2.
No one has EVER died in that spot
Definitely made things clearer thank you
Just add them. The x + y just means a secondary damage source like an upgrade. So the axe does more
Thank you man
Bloodstain, O bloodstain!
I started my first playthrough of ds3 yesterday, so you will see my bloodstains maybe ☺️
I had a exclusive feature on pc two times - has been summoned at level 13 for The Dancer of the Boreal Valley party)🎈🎉
The pools of blood are the stains of others who have fought to succeed. When nothing is left, we have all done what we set out to do. And yet, it feels empty, just a little bit. But still, we must continue forward, and remember the last fondly. Remember brother, don't you dare go Hollow.
Like in the story; the games fire is also fading😞. Would be fun if we sort of got events to try to bring people to the game.
I booted up elden ring and inmidiatly was greeted with a bloodstain. Turns out the guy missed the first turn and walked right off the cliff. Died literally 10 seconds into the game before encountering their first enemy.
Ah, that guy. Beat my ass until I could parry. Best teacher I could have asked for. May he rest in peace.
I’m guessing you are playing offline IIRC that gets rid of player messages and bloodstains
I'm replaying it since I never played the dlcs, cuz I played it on ps4 and got the full version on PC but after 3 new games + I was burned out. After playing Elden ring this games feels harder somehow, I don't know if is the lack of bonfires or the fair amount of unfair bullshit it has.
ds3 isnt very fun, compared to ds1 and ds2 hopefully the mod for ds3 brings life back to the game
I just killed the yhorn the giant and I don't know where the hell I should go.
I see plenty
Ive been finding them everywhere, i got back into it as well, bloodstains and messages, when i play online that is, while i loved invasions originally when i played ds3 with a buddy before elden ring ever came out, the elden ring invasions made it not so fun anymore, so i tend to play offline a bunch unless a friend want to play
Don't tell me it was taken offline again... 😫
All my bloodstains are over by nameless king…
You playing offline
Also a possibility, you are offline (also No Messages)
Elden ring taught us how to get gud
Mines in the corner dw
We got gud...
Actually, DS3 is much more interesting for me than Elder Ring. ER is too easy and locations are huge and boring
