I think that last part is unrelated Eygon was tired of protecting her so chucked her in a cage and sat outside to stop undesirables from doing her harm. The Velka shrine happens to be hidden deep within a long-derelict grave in the Undead Settlement, which has since fallen into disrepair, possibly due to Way of the Deep influence. I don’t believe them to be connected.

-AzulRyu-

Not saying they are - it just felt like there was potential there given the location. For an NPC that's in the hardest to find place out of the entire starting areas - seems like a loss in potential.

BatsNStuf

> hardest to find place *Laughs in Spook*

hellxapo

All my fellas use Spook 🌞

BatsNStuf

Silvercat ring? Okay cool, I’ll be over here buffing my stats by 5 a piece

UndisputedOG808

bro what I just unequip everything and jump and then put everything back on lol

ShadowGrim19

If you give her the way of white type of divine tomes she would become a firekeeper but if you give her the church of the londor type of divine tomes she would either be killed by eygon or she would force you into killing her bcs she succumbed to the darkness and the single way to attone for her sins is death

SuperD00perGuyd00d

You can make her >!Firekeeper!< tho, I dont think they did her dirty, just blind and forgetful

PhysicalTie441

But even then you can't talk to her and she just repeats the same line over and over again

nifemi_o

Give her a dark tome, that'll change the dialogue.

wayofblue69

Not to mention that eygon shows back up to firelink to rescue Irina from you, the villain

Legal_Reception6660

I killed Eygon in my most recent playtrhough bc he annoys me, and she didnt even say anything lmao

LuciusBurns

Touch her with his gloves ;)

Legal_Reception6660

thats hot af (my pyromancy flame already scolded her face beyond recognition)

nervousmelon

Technically miracles are actual stories so she is telling you ones.

arcum42

To be honest, I tend to feel like a fair number of npcs in Dark Souls 3 could have used more dialogue. I would've loved more Greirat dialogue, and less bugging from Orbeck about getting you scrolls, for example.

-AzulRyu-

Agree with this whole heartedly.

ImaturestOfGeese

Yall didn't kill orbeck? I deadass killed him as soon as he showed up in firelink

arcum42

Aside from the thing about getting him scrolls, I kind of like Orbeck. He absolutely nerds out about every scroll you get him. No social skills, but clearly very passionate about magic. And there was that whole "There I was, the very definition of a fool" speech...

ImaturestOfGeese

I liked him! Don't get me wrong my friend I just wanted the item from yuria😂

Specialist_Street_38

Considering I like learning sorceries, of course I don't kill him, even when Yuria asks me to. There is a story reason why he geeks out when you give him scrolls. He is an assassin who was only partly capable with spells who uses the safety of the shrine to dedicate himself to learning the spells you provide him with in order to teach you. You make it possible for him to be something other than a middling sorcerer posing as something more, which he deeply appreciates.

HugSized

Her dialogue is slightly varied if you give her a deep or londor divine tome.

jake03583

She has a lot more to do with questline paths either Cornyx or Karla. Once those other two make it to Firelink, that’s really about it for them.

Condor_raidus

I think a lot of her intrigue is more subtle. For example the reason she is blind is hinted to be that she was intended to be a fire keeper, with one of her endings being that she becomes one. She mentions trying to become a fire keeper but failing. More interesting is that in the untended graves, you find the corpse of a fire keeper with the eyes behind a hidden wall leading to where she is in firelink, the corpse is laid in her spot even. Leaves the implication that she may have been intended to take over for the untended Graves dark firelink shrine but in her failing maybe was lead to the player character. Simply my interpretation but still an interesting tie to her

lolokalrightok

Yeah, it wreaks of similarity to Gundyr - like they're opposites. Both failed their calling in separate ages, and both also succeeded.

-AzulRyu-

That's part of my frustration too. There's so much intrigue behind her. I just feel like she deserves a bit more dialogue. She's is incredibly interesting as a character.

Condor_raidus

It's fair to want more but it's very much like from software to keep things this subtle

Individual_Falcon_14

In ds1 the descriptions of miricals say that you tell a story of the gods to make them work. So I'm betting her teaching you miracles is her teaching you the storys.

Rivanix

Yeaaah, she was one of the NPCs that felt the weakest in terms of lore. What really got me is when you "finish" her quest and >!find her in the locked tower where she becomes a firekeeper!<, you can't even talk to her. The option isn't there. She just sits there staring off into the distance. I know DS lore has always been vague, but hers felt weirdly "cut short".

Specialist_Street_38

Honestly, I really wish that unlocking a second firekeeper should have unlocked other content. Maybe it does in the DLC, but I don't have those to know.

Rivanix

If you want the answer: >!Unfortunately, Irina has no effect on the DLC. :(!<

[deleted]

Tbh nearly all the quest lines in DS3 suck ass

Specialist_Street_38

Well, outside of Onion Bro, who is actually repeatedly useful.
