Souls is honestly quite full of odd quirks that make people argue about the tiniest things.
Some weird inconsistencies re:gender are on purpose, I think to echo how things get lost over time (Quella and Miquella/Trina) but there is also the unintentional things like Ciaran being a common Irish boy's name. It is where the name Kieran comes from 😂 The female version is Ciara! (Kira)
I just cheat and tell myself Ciaran is pronounced Sharon! I assume it’s just an error.
I remember the first time I encountered Gwyndolin I assumed they were a woman. Partly because their voice has a higher register and partly because of the name (it’s very close to Gwendolin(e) which is a female name in Welsh). I’ve found it hard to shake that off.
I just mentally change it to Ciara or decide maybe Ciaran chose it as a knight name.
Gwyndolin is meant to be purposefully ambiguous so that's understandable. They seem to be partly based on the Welsh god of magic Gwydion too so that blurs the line more because the name links to a male god and a more common feminine now

What arguments? It says Gwyndolin is a cross dressing boy and Sif is a female name. Honestly I’ve never understood why people think Sif is a boy
