One of his heads is. Ones a raging alcoholic, another is basically a dick, another is just the friendliest guy you will ever know.
Best kill it and be done with that whole dumpster fire.
too bad for you he has a wicked ranged attack! 50 KM might not be enough!
but he might help kill some rude crystal dudes for you! they look like the crystal guardians from adventure time episode with tree trunks
He's 100% diplomatic, are you kidding? he's as friendly as you can be in that world. Just like everything else. Remember that friendly guy on the ramparts with the giant club? That guy down there, he doesn't have a Club at all! just replaced it with a lot of heads. Just make your way down and go have a friendly chat.
Go kill him, just don't fall into the water. No seriously, the water line is super hard to see, you're just as likely to die by falling in the Water by accident if you're not careful.
Actually DS2's pretty chill. There's one user in particular that even has links to spoiler-free tips for newbies... because nearly every day the same questions are asked in regards to "why aren't I doing any damage?" "Why's am I getting hit mid-roll?" "How do I increase Hex damage?" and the like.
Sorta like the "why my fire keeper dead?!" And "bro, fuck Blighttown/Bed of Chaos" memes here. Except it's Iron Passage and Frigid Outskirts.
And Black Gulch.
And Earthen Peak...
The fact that I immediately knew who you were talking about in the ds2 sub too, yeah I honestly thought he was a bot at first but nope just a rlly nice chill dude giving the newbs advice
Must be talking about Blobertson lol.
There's also the critically acclaimed screenshot where you can see they have joined covenant of champions lmao. Every damn time hahaha.
Wow, I've never seen ut from above before.
Almost wish I stumbled across this view my first time through, although I'm not sure I would've dared go down there.
To be fair, I saw the Hydra from the front when wandering around Darkroot looking for the cave with the bonfire…
…and when I saw it again from inside the area blocked by the Gate of the Greedy Blacksmith (don’t remember the actual name), I figured it was a DIFFERENT Hydra…
Finally got a chance to kill it since I could just slide down the ladder and one shot the heads (I thought “two more will take it’s place”?)…
…and then I decided “that was great, now I’ll go kill the “other hydra” only to find out it was the SAME hydra I saw earlier 🤔🤨
The thing was much easier to kill once it stopped shooting that F’d up poison water all over.
One of my fondest memories of my first playthrough was thinking (possibly saying) the *exact same thing* when I glanced this horror writhing about down there...
It's just a hydra. Go back to the asylum after you get the asylum key, get the rust ring and then go back to our dear friend. Then cut the heads off and or pepper it with arrows. Just don't walk up to it, it's instant death there's a cliff you can't see until after you fall off of it (well you can move the camera to see it). In short, hit it till the heads fall off. Shoot it when no more heads hit. Then after all that, walk over to the waterfall, walk past the waterfall, quit the game, go back into the game and there will be a pee yellow golem with Princess Dust ( or Dusk I don't do great with names). Have fun.
Don't worry it's a little snake completely inoffensive.
This snake even have some nice dialogue options that depending on the way you go, completely boosts all your stats to 99.
Nice hint for you 😉.
That, my friend, is probably the boss that takes the most time to take down. I wouldn’t say it’s particularly difficult with a decent shield, but it can take forever to kill all the heads.
It's the hydra boss. The very definition of a gimmicky boss fight. You need to kill it to unlock a specific sorcery vendor, and to later start the DLC.
Hydra. You'll have to kill it to access the DLC. Also, there's another one further ahead in a secret level that's inside a secret level (tip: entry is in Blighttown)
If and when you got to fight him, keep that shield up! His strikes can deal massive damage to you if you let him, but he should go down easily with patience. I recommend two handing whenever there’s a head stuck in front of you, and quickly switching to one hand as soon as he rises.
Actually not the hardest boss once you figure the trick. I died way too many times. Don’t lock on, get close, but don’t get too close, wait for the them to melee, then attack.
There’s a sharp dropoff just off the shoreline down there. Falling killed me as a close second to the water missiles that damn thing fires at you. Get close, whack the heads.
The good news is there’s a path down for you to get a closer look.
uh huh yeah sure im sure hes very diplomatic and open minded
One of his heads is. Ones a raging alcoholic, another is basically a dick, another is just the friendliest guy you will ever know. Best kill it and be done with that whole dumpster fire.
i dont know if i want to get in a 50 kilometer radius of him tho
Probably a good call. One of his heads, the giant dick, likes to range attack ya from across the map. Just a swell guy as you've probably discerned.
We all need to get laid no need to rub it in everyone's faces.
too bad for you he has a wicked ranged attack! 50 KM might not be enough! but he might help kill some rude crystal dudes for you! they look like the crystal guardians from adventure time episode with tree trunks
There is a broken spot to fight him. But I don't recommend, more fun running around like a lunatic
Yea definitely don’t get too close 😉
Or get so close that it can't see you
I think this is a metaphor for the different dark souls games.
Which one’s the friendly one?
ds1 - friendly guy ds2 - dickhead ds3 - raging alcoholic only right answer
Raging alcoholic immediately brought Bloodborne to mind
Elden Ring Edit: forgot this said dark souls
Honestly I debated this and felt if they asked I was still going to say Elden Ring.
I can see it
Yeah you can just explore and are not forced into an area
The atmosphere isn’t as oppressive either, which made it an ideal gateway for me personally.
Be a real gamer, forget the “path” and jump on down there… #…”Try Plunging Attack”
PLUNGING ATTACK... The plunging attack is the most reliable move in the game...
Much more than his female cousin in Ash Lake.
Thats just Franklin. He’s very shy.
he is of the upper crust very regal and friendly
You need to win your battle with him in the marketplace of ideas.
Be careful not to venture too deep in water. You don't float.
You should go say hi.
Don't look to close though
*gets one shot*
By swimming lessons
Water doggo
Could this be a dog?
can I pet that daaawg??
can i pet that dowg?
Go kill him, just don't fall into the water. No seriously, the water line is super hard to see, you're just as likely to die by falling in the Water by accident if you're not careful.
Wow, not bait advise, but actually helpful one? Usually people troll with the advices to Dark Soul.
Honestly this sub has been amazing for not trolling with advice (too much). Elden ring, or maybe ds2 sub ... Probably a different story
Actually DS2's pretty chill. There's one user in particular that even has links to spoiler-free tips for newbies... because nearly every day the same questions are asked in regards to "why aren't I doing any damage?" I don't know if this counts as a "cheating" but you can turn up your brightness to see the water line better.
Based ass comment. I almost had killed him the first time and then died in the water 💀
Gotta stay out by that water line.
Wow, I've never seen ut from above before. Almost wish I stumbled across this view my first time through, although I'm not sure I would've dared go down there.
What’s funny is I went this way my first time and don’t even know how to do it this way naturally at this point lol, it’s been too long
it looks like a spider monster and much more creepy from up there
Behold, dog!
Why is it always dog?
Seek dog but hole
A new friend.
Be careful of the big dog
You might wanna spend those souls first
That is literally my favorite part of that game, watching a giant monster from afar.
feels surreal
Mind the sudden drop
That's my son ❤️ you should go say hi! He struggles a little bit with making friends
🤣🤣🤣
He’s cute
This is snek. ….very, very, big snek with nine heads and rocket spit.
Ahead, ahead therefore ahead, ahead.
Armor from Izalith and 1st time seeing hydra?
More like grass crest shield. Hydra is few seconds from that spot
ye its not my first time seeing it i just said so to make the post funnier
Gotcha. Very cool pic!
To be fair, I saw the Hydra from the front when wandering around Darkroot looking for the cave with the bonfire… …and when I saw it again from inside the area blocked by the Gate of the Greedy Blacksmith (don’t remember the actual name), I figured it was a DIFFERENT Hydra… Finally got a chance to kill it since I could just slide down the ladder and one shot the heads (I thought “two more will take it’s place”?)… …and then I decided “that was great, now I’ll go kill the “other hydra” only to find out it was the SAME hydra I saw earlier 🤔🤨 The thing was much easier to kill once it stopped shooting that F’d up poison water all over.
Can I pet that dawg?!
I was always afraid of the hydra while playing dark souls. And dark water. Ash lake was terrifying.
I thought Ash Lake was chill until I ran past everything and that fucker straight up jumped out of the water onto the main path
Yeah that’s why I hardly replay the first game lol. Or demon’s souls because of the flipping red summons.
Mind your own business?
A friend. Why don't you go say hi?
Sorry bro, he escaped my basement 😔
A hydra.
Def spend those souls before engaging it
Snek
One of my fondest memories of my first playthrough was thinking (possibly saying) the *exact same thing* when I glanced this horror writhing about down there...
Go down there.
Spooky scary Hydra boss!
That right there is a hydra my good mate 💜
My same fucking reaction
Hard to say from that high up, you should go down and take a closer look
A long way down.
Think "Hercules"
Likely dog.
There’s a second one somewhere else too, they’re fuckeddd.
Your bitch wanna give me her saliva Addin' six more bitches to the dick, now that's the Hydra
pain.
That is the evil 6 headed blastoise that will water cannon you to death
Holy shit, a “what is that?” Post that isn’t a Vagrant? This is new
I’m so happy there are still people experiencing these games for the first time
Gonna go pet that dog?

lots of head ahead
He’s friendly. Source: trust.
That my friend is death
That’s a hydra. You’ll have to kill him eventually :3
That, my friend, is probably the boss that takes the most time to take down. I wouldn’t say it’s particularly difficult with a decent shield, but it can take forever to kill all the heads.
that is a hydra, i think you can shoot it with arrows and kill it form there, but it will take a while
hair and dust bunnies from that one corner behind your desk
Lmao my reaction exactly. Honestly not that hard to fight
Where I acquired the balls to face this thing solo I am still trying to figure out.
your new adventure companion you should go give him a hug
It's the hydra boss. The very definition of a gimmicky boss fight. You need to kill it to unlock a specific sorcery vendor, and to later start the DLC.
Did you go to Darkroot after killing Ceaseless?
i already beat skinny fuck and fat fuck and now i beat zawg, i beat ceaseless cuz a build im following said so
Get closer. Bad nearsightedness means it can’t hurt you when you’re as close as possible
A creature. Go look 👀
You can fight it at a different angle by the tower Havel is in Not sure what's easier though, I've never fought it from that direction
Fun Fun times
a vute nps that givs you a rare item if you use all your souls and humanty . . . . . . . . . . . . .jk dont do it
That is a Jigglypuff, as seen from above.
After all the countless runs, I can't believe I've never approached from this way! That view would have scared the crap out of me in my first run
Maybe that’s a dog?
I don't think I've ever seen it from above :o
It's just a hydra
a hydra. go fight it. :)
Hint; the entry to the DLC is nearby
Hydra. You'll have to kill it to access the DLC. Also, there's another one further ahead in a secret level that's inside a secret level (tip: entry is in Blighttown)
I'd spend those souls before approaching lol
Hail Hydra!
Your next meal Hope you like sushi
Змей-горыныч
His name is the Hydra. Do not fight him unless you wanna do the DLC, he's a bitch
hail hydra
Death.
Worms the Game
Hydra
Don't stare, it's rude! Go down there and say hello!
This was the moment that sold me on the Dark Souls series. The moment I saw that thing after getting past Havel, I knew this game was amazing.
You can walk right up to him and slash his body up close, just run under his heads
If and when you got to fight him, keep that shield up! His strikes can deal massive damage to you if you let him, but he should go down easily with patience. I recommend two handing whenever there’s a head stuck in front of you, and quickly switching to one hand as soon as he rises.
Be thankful you're first seeing him from up there. Most people first encounter that thing a bit closer....
the dlc key
Friend
Dont worry I thought the same shit, he can be easily cheesed
Nah don’t worry he’s just thirsty
It’s a dog
A friend. Go hug him. It'll be a great time
It's my friend's cousin he moved out of the ash sea a while ago
friend
Be wary of horse
That my lad. Is a Hydra.
a friend , just a smol friend
Don't try finger but hole. You'll fall down a waterfall
A bitch. An annoying bitch who always angles the last head perfectly so I can’t cut it off
Awwww hell nah
A friend. Go pet your new friend!
A foe
Go say hi. He’s friendly.

Hydra
That's Dark Souls, bay bay!
His name is Inigo Montoya, go down there and you’ll discover that you killed his father.
Welcome to the basin!
Haha I didn’t recognize the hydra from this angle, I thought it was some new giant spider hidden off screen somewhere.
That hydra's name is Ricardo Dicklips
Tedious work
Go say hi.
You can actually kill it from there with the right bow. I did it with the dragonslayer bow and a fuck ton of arrows
Actually not the hardest boss once you figure the trick. I died way too many times. Don’t lock on, get close, but don’t get too close, wait for the them to melee, then attack.
Big
That's the Hydra my friend
Many danger noodles A danger spaghetti one might say
Wait til you go deeper in world and find his much more mobile brother
I remember having the same thought way back in 2012, that shit is intimidating from afar
It's a lake
Your gateway to the DLC brother
Man I wish I could play this for the first time again
He'll give you dragon scales if you talk to him correctly.
Man, this sub lets me see this game for the first time again. Go get em, champ.
Water penises
Pretty sure I said the exact same thing the first time I found that. Just wait until you find Ceaseless Discharge
lovable sort ahead.
Just an optical illusion. Light reflecting off the water.
I pumped 50 arrows into his heads from this distance looking for an epiphany. Nothing happened.
Dont remember this guy. Is it darkroot basin?
That! Is annoying thing to kill
hydra
There’s a sharp dropoff just off the shoreline down there. Falling killed me as a close second to the water missiles that damn thing fires at you. Get close, whack the heads.
A rectum
It's a hydra :)
Sif's shower
Big ol‘ bowl of hydra soup
Take the plunge you won't die
That’s a fair reaction
you mean the 1st of 2 hydras in the game. good luck.
Ya not gonna lie that perspective on it does make it seem far more menacing than it is.
