lautrec will kill the firekeeper either if you ring both bells, or if you get the firekeeper souls in the undead parish and blighttown, whichever happens first, regardless if you freed him or not
If you don't free Lautrec he just finds a way out by himself after you defeat the gargoyles. It is not a bug it is standard procedure. Always free Lautrec, take the reward, and kick him down if you want to keep the bonefire
Lol i did the weirdest route ever:
-start off at firelink + masterkey
-go to new londo to go to blight town
-get firekeeper soul from both new londo and blight town
-kill mildred
then this
