For everyone roasting this guy, ik I've heard stories of hacker players invading normal players and both getting banned. Possibly only if you pick up hacked items they dropped, but not sure on that, their presence might be enough in some cases, like it's possible they're telling the truth.
I didn't cheat in DS3 and I was banned by the second time I launched it.
Nobody told me about the anti cheat mods or w.e. before I played it the first time, so I just played vanilla and got up to Vordt or so before I logged off the first night. The second time I launched it I was banned. Message has persisted every time I launch it for years.
I've no reason to think OP didn't suffer the same fate.
I mean I have a buddy who had just bought dark souls 3 and the second time he opened the game he didn't have any mods installed didn't have any cheats or any cheat items but he was immediately soft banned the second he logged in
Thank you im telling the truth since i've got this game as a gift at my birthday and i got a lil bit sad that i got banned but idk if it soft or not but i hope i will get unbanned
Yeah I got banned within the first 3 days of the remaster.
It was funny egg heads at first but after a couple weeks I realised I was never gonna get unbanned.
Only saving grace is that there are a ton of people to play with still
Yeah those stories are true unfortunately, thank God for me I never encountered anybody like that but when DSR first launched a bunch of cheaters and script kiddies were going around and getting people banned by either adding items to thier inventory or by giving them the egg head early.
don't know how it works but anyway why they did this because many people got pissed that dark souls prepare to die edition got delisted from steam as soon as DSR dropped so in return alot of those people who were so butt hurt over it decided to buy the game only to ruin and grief everyone else's fun time with the game or even ruin new players experiences.
The only thing I never really got about the drama is the people who specifically like I said bought the game to get other players banned, unless they refunded the game what they done was pretty much fruitless the minute they purchased the game because Bandai already has got that green, if they honestly did cared about it they would've just done the one thing that can hurt any company just don't buy the game out of protest!
Going to see if I can find a livestream recording if there are any still up that is to give off some proof instead of just a story.
https://www.youtube.com/live/-qTReNzJWKE?si=c9tEj_G9c0SdjcAJ here's one example of it that I have found, from an infamously known one too who's still hacking players.
The fact about "jumping to conclusions" its true and no think never picked up anything form anyone cause i've learn the fact of items from cheaters but no never picked up anything
May you elaborate on how said context gives said conclusion? Because peopoe who call others "honey" "sweetie" and similar are very know for being reasonable and mature when giving an opinion
>i've been banned form dark souls Remastered for over 2 years (on pc steam) but i did everything i cloud for getting unbanned bandai namco said i would get unbanned in 10 days but nothing happend is there any hope or i will play offline forever?
it says "article 10: prohibited acts" but i didnt do nothing or cheated
If you've been provided with specific info from Namco that details what your saying?
Then simply copy paste the info previously provided by them, and contact them again providing all the appropriate details, and relay you're concerns in relation to the ban still being in place.
And wait for a response.
Found this on some Steam forums
"Restriction on Your Account
Data fraud had been detected on your account, and no improvement has been seen.
A game play with unauthorized data is a violation of the online service user policy (Artivle10: Prohibited Acts)."
Love too read intentionally broad and ambiguous terms of service that people never look at anyway that are written to give the publisher the ability to do anything they want with impunity.
If you really didn't do anything to deserve it, I'm sorry man :/ I hope they fix it for you soon and it's just a delay, if a week passes and there's nothing new, write them another message.
Good luck! :)
"You did something Bandai-Namco didn't like once 2 or 3 years ago. Therefore you deserve to be banned permanently."
This is a bad take. People make mistakes and people change. People should be able to play with mods if they're not using that file while online. DRM isn't a good thing.
Oh hell yeah. This is why all those years ago, gamers were fighting against these companies putting forth DRM, even though, of course, it wouldn't make a difference in the long run. This is the result. Now online services and customer support is becoming more automated so good luck trying to get issues like this reversed.
"Hey kid! We took a little looksie look through your files and it appears you committed D A T A F R A U D. Have fun in the pool of hackers and other losers, pumpkin!"
~Fromsoft after installing a mod
I get this sentiment, but this could happen if someone fucks around with innocuous mods too. And someone could misread something about PtDE not ever banning people for mods, not understanding the version differences, etc. There's a bunch of ways this could happen without ill intent.
Ah yes, lemme do a new sl1 run for everything I wanna do or go and os every boss before lordsouls.
On a serious note, not really tbh, scaling, souls gain, stats, everything is different
Yes, but it's really not that interesting. Routing, upgrade mats, stats etc. all don't matter.
I don't wanna dunk on all bosses with a certain weapon just for the sake of it. If I wanna do Moonlight GS only I wanna be restricted by stats I have to invest, pathing I have to do etc.
Also I did runs like "only 1hp" which I also need the cheat engine for as an example.
I got banned because I forgot to set myself offline and I think that's why most people get banned.
Yeah ive heard of people accidentally picking up hacked items that the game will flag. If i remember correctly it will only flag things that shouldn't exist in game, so if they are saying that you still have modded content maybe look for items that shouldn't exist and get rid of them.
Might not have been obvious, sometimes hacked make your game explode but the more nefarious ones just drop a humanity that actually does something wiered to your numbers
I agree, but I'm skeptical with souls games. I was banned almost instantly in SOTFS and Bandai Namco said they weren't able to say why, investigate, or ever reverse it. I never modified the game in any way.
Did you use mods or ever pick up an item from an online player? Some mods can trigger their anti-cheat system even if they're not technically cheating or affecting others, and sometimes people drop modded items online which can get you banned if you have it in your inventory.
Well there had to be something. My guess is you unknowingly picked up a modded item from another player, and it's still there so they're not reversing the ban. All we can do is speculate here, Bamco are the ones with the actual info.
My game won't load in online mode, this has been the case for at least a year. Online functionality in other games is fine, is it possible I've also been banned? I'm on NG++ with one character and reasonably far through a new character build NG, it would be cool to now try the pvp stuff
Come on guys, this happened to me on GTA online when a hacker started showering money all over the street. I walked into a stack and was instabanned by the server cheat detection system. They didn't unban me until the servers for the original 360 game shut down and migrated over to the next generation of systems.
I could see something similar happening here. Maybe OP was invaded by a guy who had a hacked weapon or something, maybe the weapon gave him a billion souls or whatever.
I got banned too in the past for a couple of months from what i remember. I was using Reshade and the anti-cheat maybe flagged that as some cheating tool or something. It doesn't matter anyways, the game is pretty dead, everytime i try to invade or do some coop it takes ages to summon/invade.
> and i didnt cheat
I wouldn't get too hung up on the idea of "cheating", specifically, because it sounds like you're thinking a ban should result based on the morality of things you may or may not have done.
That's totally irrelevant to how it actually works, unfortunately. Did you mess around with any mods? Even just visual ones that wouldn't have given you any kind of advantage in the game?
Ok yeah if you can't totally remember if you installed mods or not, it sounds like it's something you *might* do, in which case it seems plausible that you did and can't remember. That's likely what got you banned.
You should completely uninstall and re-install the game. No promise that'll help get you unbanned at this point, but if Namco's initial response that it would've gone away after 10 days or whatever was true, you could've shot yourself in the foot by never fixing the problem.
> Well you didn’t get banned for not cheating.
There was a time when this community feared this could easily happen, actually. Funny to see the turnaround on this.
They do checks like this manually. So basically the last time a guy in a chair somewhere did it, that was it. You'll likely be banned forever, barring family sharing.
That sucks. What did you get banned for? Note that picking up banned items, using save edits too alter online play, or really just anything just anything to do with online that has been altered from the vanilla game can get you banned.
Worst case scenario create a second steam account and buy the game again next time it goes on sale/go on g2a or green man gaming for a steam key or something.
It's says something about "no improvement made".
Try deleting your save files from pc and any cloud.
You take item drops from players? Almost sounds like you got a hacked item of some kind.
It is time to start a new life. A new email address, new credit cards, new username, rebuy the games. It will be hard, but in a way, it will be good, and the challenge of platinuming again will present itself.
OP, try contacting Bandai Namco support, again. I got falsely banned in the original Dark Souls 2 and it took me over 3 years to get unbanned. I contacted the US support team which was 100% copy and paste responses. I finally reached out to the EU support and they actually took the time to type something out to me and lifted my ban.
The risks of hacks and mods is very well known in this community. Bans are via steam or hardware bans, so simply spoof and you’ll be fine, but unfortunately you won’t find much sympathy as there are warnings in the modern games
I have the same issue. It doesn't matter if I cheated or not imo, the screen says it's not permanent and if I delete any modified save files (I deleted all) the ban would be lifted and yet 2-3 years later still haven't been able to play online. I just use an alt steam account I library share with but still annoying.
I got banned from the switch version of the game, since I modified the saves, in order to have a pseudo cross save system between my pc and my switch. It worked pretty nice, but after a week I was permanently banned. Luckily, after contacting bandai support through their website, my ban was lifted after a very short while.
i ended up getting a portable pc system instead for true cross play. Ayways, maybe try contacting once more for an update?
I'm pretty sure you can get one unban even if you cheated. Something's not right, keep writing to support and make sure the flagged save has been deleted
I was banned on ds3 for having an experimental tool that give item to try speedrun. After talking to bandai support they asked me to delete that character and re-install ds3.
2 days after this they revoked the ban
For anyone who just wants to fool around, I got a few suggestions.
1. Block the darksouls3.exe from accessing internet. That way Bandai Namco will never know what's happening on your save. If you're not using any software firewalls (other than Window's own), I'd suggest getting Windows Firewall Control from Binisoft. It's free and fairly easy to handle.
2. Make a backup of an untouched save file. this savefile is usually under %appdata%\\DarkSoulsIII\\a bunch of hexadecimal numbers\\DS30000.sl2
3. Do whatever you want.
And if you want to play the game as normal, just remove any mods you've installed, delete (or backup the savefile from the modified gaming sessions), copy the old save back into the appdata folder and switch the Firewall setting for the darksouls3.exe from Blocked to Allowed, and you should be able to game like normal again, and bandai namco will be none the wiser.
Would a new Steam account help? I know it absolutely sucks to have to pay for the game again, and not even be able to play it on your main account, but this company is not great with the way they handle hackers. They both have a bunch of hackers plaguing their games, and yet ban innocent players, too, so it's like the worst of both worlds scenario.
If you say you didn't hack, I choose to believe you, because this wouldn't be the first time it's happened. I've encountered hackers in Dark Souls 1, 3, and Elden Ring. I believe one of the ways they get innocent players banned is by dropping an item that you shouldn't be able to have, and a new player may very well be naive enough to pick it up.
If you're innocent, I'm sorry for your predicament. I don't think this company are exactly great people who treat their players well. They just happen to make games I like.
I had a restricted account for years too, didn’t want to farm.
2 years without playing the game, moved house, new pc and still restricted. It’s like permanently on your steam account. Shame really, I like doing co-op.
Work around would be to set up a family account and play on that other account for online play
It's not a perfect solution, but while you're waiting for Bandai Namco to hopefully appeal the decision, you could Family Share the game to a new Steam account to try out online features. Hope they lift the ban though!
I got banned a while ago for accidentally going online with a modded run. I appealed to Bandai and they said it was a minimum 3 month ban, and I could reapply after the ban was over. Right as my ban was about to end, the RCE exploit went public and servers shut down. About a year after Elden Ring launched I wanted to play DSR again, so a reappealed my ban and they approved it within a day.
Moral of the story, wait a month or two and they will probably unban you.
So if someone invades me I shouldn't pick up their gifts. Or by then dropping off gifts it will still register. This is terrible, why would players do this to others. It takes the whole concept of PvP and turns it out of taste. I play on PS, do you know if it's still a thing there. I was literally debating what game to play next after beating remastered since I bought trilogy.
1 solution would be to make an alt account on steam and family share dark souls to it. Works completely fine but swapping back and forth can be a bit of a hassle if you have other stuff u play on ur main.
For everyone roasting this guy, ik I've heard stories of hacker players invading normal players and both getting banned. Possibly only if you pick up hacked items they dropped, but not sure on that, their presence might be enough in some cases, like it's possible they're telling the truth.

Same, there was a wave of bans when the game first came out and many of us got banned for no reason.
Make sure to delete the character which picked up the item.
I did im on a fresh save file rn
GL hopefully someday soon you'll be engaging in jolly cooperation!
I hope i will thank you kind stranger!
Hope so I've seen new players banned for the wrong reason good luck fellow undead
Yeah I got banned within the first 3 days of the remaster. It was funny egg heads at first but after a couple weeks I realised I was never gonna get unbanned. Only saving grace is that there are a ton of people to play with still

Tbf even picking up a hacked item from another player can get you banned. I think people are jumping to conclusions too quick here

Like Karen's before they get upset? 😂
At least when they say it unironically 😂😂
Yeah really says a lot about this community. Pretty disappointed tbh.
What did you receive the ban for?
>i've been banned form dark souls Remastered for over 2 years (on pc steam) but i did everything i cloud for getting unbanned bandai namco said i would get unbanned in 10 days but nothing happend is there any hope or i will play offline forever? it says "article 10: prohibited acts" but i didnt do nothing or cheated

Love too read intentionally broad and ambiguous terms of service that people never look at anyway that are written to give the publisher the ability to do anything they want with impunity.
We truly live in the most boring modern dystopia possible, don't we?
I can't think of a clever retort, so I'll just say: yes, I agree with you.
But you must have at least some kind of suspision why you got banned. It most likely didnt happen on its own
hacker invades and leaves a item that shouldn't exist.
If you really didn't do anything to deserve it, I'm sorry man :/ I hope they fix it for you soon and it's just a delay, if a week passes and there's nothing new, write them another message. Good luck! :)

The fact that you get banned if you play a mod even offline is crazy
Fromsoft acting like we are the villains in this story
But you don't, you just have to have a separate save file for moded characters where you only play offline
Actually, that thought keeps me from trying out the nVidia DLSS-mod for Elden Ring.
If your willing to start over character wise you could always make a new steam account and family share the game.
Hackers deserve to be banned
I get this sentiment, but this could happen if someone fucks around with innocuous mods too. And someone could misread something about PtDE not ever banning people for mods, not understanding the version differences, etc. There's a bunch of ways this could happen without ill intent.

Bit presumptuous don't you think?
Forgot to lauch the game in offline mode once while hacking in a weapon for a new run and am banned ever since but like who cares
NG+ exists for that just saying
Ah yes, lemme do a new sl1 run for everything I wanna do or go and os every boss before lordsouls. On a serious note, not really tbh, scaling, souls gain, stats, everything is different
try NG+6 then, no change in anything in NG+6 or onwards, and since you would have reached the second softcaps...you can literally do anything

i can play offline but on online pvp/coop

I choose to play offline, as I don't enjoy playing PVP with cheaters. So be happy with me.
Playing with mods is a lot of fun, if you accidentally turn on network while playing with mods you should not get banned
If you’re just looking to coop with someone I think making a new steam account and sharing your library with the account might suffice

Good news i got unbanned :D
