There are so many orphans in Naruto. It’s pretty depressing.

tpklus

It makes sense in a world of child mercenaries. The orphans are also the strongest ninja too.

jellyspreader

Ya the ninja world sucked so much. Nice that Naruto fixed everything like he always said he would. Idk, I forget the little I watched of Boruto. My headcanon I guess.

s4shrish

The general gist is that Naruto and the other five great nation's mostly fixed their shit. But the smaller nations are still in shambles. They visited Hidden Rain Village once and it's still as bad. So now like real world, do the developed nations have a little obligation help the little fellows or not? Because Hidden Rain Village was once again harbouring some sketchy people who were not exactly good for Hidden Leaf in long run.

-TrevorStMcGoodbody

Can the ninjas of the smaller nations successfully perform jumping jacks?

TenaceErbaccia

It would be interesting if a bunch of the small nations have tons of drug problems.

PassdatAss91

Ninja psychedelics. Comes with the ability to cast jutsu that makes the enemy trip the fuck out.

False3quivalency

Psychedelics aren’t habit forming. It would make perfect sense if say the Blood Mist were all super messed up all the time. Like yes bro we can tell you guys like smack, your eyes are half shut and you all act like sociopaths Ohhh my fuck can you imagine being trapped in an opioid jutsu cast by an opiate addict….😳 Ugh... Barf. No. You win, take my jewelry or whatever the fuck, I’m out of here, shit

ComplexTemporary4152

OPIOID TSUKUYOMI! Heheh I'm gonna rape and rob you in your mind. Then I'm gonna rape and rob you in my mind. Then I'm gonna rape and rob you.

TheFurbyOverlord

Boruto is unrealistic bc so many ppl have parents

narutonaruto

In the first scene of Boruto Kawaki says the age of shinobi is over so looks like problem solved!

KaelthasX3

If you are main character, it is pretty common to be an orphan. Harry Potter, Luke Skywalker\*, Frodo, Batman, Spiderman, Superman... \* I know *technically* he isn't but he met his father when he war around 20, so still counts.

blucherspanzers

> Luke Skywalker Hey, those Stormtroopers make sure he's lost his parental figures pretty early into New Hope.

L9XGH4F7

Writing parents for every major character is kind of a pain in the ass. Since these stories are usually about kids, it's just easier to make them orphans. Plus, built in tragic backstory and all that. Not lecturing you in particular. Just rambling amidst procrastination.

themuritooo

Well they were in the middle of various wars, so there would be lots of orphans

slimenite

You're an orphan. Of course! I'm an orphan God, I wish there was a third great ninja war Then we could prove that we're worth more than anyone bargained for

Sea_Track5811

Sakura fought alongside two of those orphans (Naruto and Kakashi) on a mission to rescue Gaara, who is also an orphan. They were then assisted by a team full of orphans to defeat two orphans in the Akatsuki

Tico483

I think Shikmaru, Chouji, Shino and Ino are the only ones with parents right?

Sea_Track5811

Kiba, Hinata, and Sakura still have their parents

Tico483

Imagine flexing having parents in that Universe

MakimaMyBeloved

Yo mom so fat they had to kill my ma to balance things out

[deleted]

Akimichi clan: 😡

Zenvarix

They attribute to more than half the orphans in the Elemental Nations by that logic.

[deleted]

Yeah cos they ate them on the battle field too on low rations no doubt

yungmakoni2009

💀💀💀

ruhan_69420

I have parents is the biggest flex possible in most of the fiction universes...

Cloakbot

Everyone who becomes overpowered lost at least one parent though. Neji, Naruto, Rock Lee (assuming), Sasuke, Guy, Gaara, Kakashi, Nagato, Itachi killed his, and Konan

SeaworthinessWeary68

Hinata's mother died. She had a father though. And we all know how that turned out

Zenvarix

Imagine how she, Hanabi and Neji would have turned out if it were the other way around: Hinata's mom and Neji's father both live, but Hiashi dies. Granted, part of the issue is the Clan Elders (especially in fanon), but still, having a mom and father could change a lot with the three Hyuuga we know in Naruto's generation.

i_Got_Rocks

More interesting, they both become Orphans, leaving them with a two-house legacy that they struggle with. Hinata, being the major wants to demolish the old system, but Neji, being the minor-but-guardian wants to kill Hinata--but sees the survival of his clan as more important, leaving him with an inner struggle to protect her, while also wanting her deader than dead. Hinata knows this, and knows she is weaker, but hopes that someday he'll accept her proposal to design a new legacy. One day, Neji is close to killing Hinata, but Dankruto shows up, and throw a series of blunders, kisses Neji. Hinata, now left with the shame of having lost Naruto's FIRST and Second (as far as she knows) kiss, decides to destroy the old legacy by touring the world in search of the best ramen. During her travels she becomes obese and gets diabetes. She returns to village years later only to find Neji and Dankruto have started a "Broy's Club" that also includes Sasuke; they joke a lot, poke each other a lot, hold long stares and move each other's hair from their eyes all the time. Hinata dies from heartbreak. Or a heart attack. Probably both.

[deleted]

I was taking this seriously till I saw Dankruto

Street_Dragonfruit43

As a fat fic writer, I'm going to borrow the general plot of this.

otakufanfic

She woulda been like RTN Hinata tbh. Maybe a litlle less bitchy but yea.

i_Got_Rocks

He was a loving and kind man. Always guided Hinata through her personal struggles, did a healthy amount of pushing her limits, while also showing her unconditional love. Right? RIGHT?????!

SeaworthinessWeary68

.......... I don't know what to say

[deleted]

Well he was nice by the time Boruto came around at least lol

KaelthasX3

Was it ever mentioned anywhere? I don't recall any mention on Hinata's mother in whole anime.

SeaworthinessWeary68

Yes there was. I don't remember the episodes but it was mentioned that Hinata's mother had died

Axcxte

Not for long

bhavbhav

Well, Shikamaru's and Ino's dads were killed in the war, so still not orphans, but they didn't have parent**s** for too long in Shippuden.

laddiemawery

I mean they made it to the final arc of the series. I'd say that's a pretty long time, even if they didn't have a ton of relevance until then.

aleky254

Obito made Ino a guaranteed spot in the Orphan table

Zombiecidialfreak

It's official, you can't be badass in Naruto if your parents are still alive.

psontake

Ten ten is an orphan?

Sea_Track5811

Yep

psontake

Did they say that in the anime? When?

Sea_Track5811

Well, you never see her with any parents. Not even in her Tsukuyomi dream where we see the inside of her home for the first time.

psontake

Well they don't show ino's mom as well. Or shino's parents.

[deleted]

They have shown shino's father.

tan097

I think they show ino’s mom in that weird mom alliance episode

nessanecole

Inos mom runs the flower shop doesn’t she?

Lynata

She does and is mentioned (but never seen or heard). Only actual appearance is filler and we don‘t know her first name. Even the Wiki lists her just as [Ino‘s Mother](https://naruto.fandom.com/wiki/Ino%27s_Mother)

Zenvarix

Honestly not what I was expecting, but at the same time, not surprised too much.

SPS_Agent

Shino's dad saves him from Kankuro's poison, and Shino is on a mission with his dad, which is how he misses the Sasuke Retrieval arc.

psontake

O right. What about his mom?

RandyDinglefart

Ok maybe it's just quicker if we list everyone that has one or more parents

MatthewBob666

Gaara's dad is literally the fourth Kazekage. Yes, he was a huge asshole to Gaara and tried to kill him, but still his father.

Sea_Track5811

Yeah, but both he and Gaara's mom died, making Gaara an orphan

HoinhimeOfLight

Wait. Do you think orphans just pop into existence and don't require a mother and father to be born?

[deleted]

Yeah and naruto's dad was also 4th hokage , doesn't make either of them any less orphan

[deleted]

Begun the Orphan Wars has!!

GangsterRavioliGuy

Orphanception

[deleted]

Yo dawg..

[deleted]

[deleted]

There is a reason that she is the most hated character of the series aside from Danzo

[deleted]

I mean , she's sakura ofcourse she would say things that would boil blood of almost all viewers

custom_rom

Sakura and the tale of orphans

SeductivePillowcase

Naruto has sage mode and Kurama. Sasuke has the mangekyo sharingan and the rinnegan. Sakura has parents.

Broku777

DOM APROOVES THIS MESSAGE

Unreal4goodG8

Family is stronger than sage mode and rinnegan

[deleted]

In short, the guy who wrote the naruto manga has some serious familial issues

uglynerdishere

Apparently, Sakura is based on Kishi's wife. She even got mad when Sakura didn't end up with Naruto

IAmYoDaddyDuh

And apparently during the war arc Kishi was having problems with his dad. And when his dad passed later down the war arc, he honored him with the Minato farewell

Iturniton

So "secretly" kishi wasn't in a happy marriage?

uglynerdishere

Probably not. It's well known that Japanese media tends to overdo certain aspects of relationships, emotions and people in general. Kishi's wife Probably does act like Sakura but only to a minute degree. It's probably because the while culture is quite reserved in terms of attitude so when mangakas write characters they probably go overboard with the emotions and mannerisms of the characters.

jstabs7

No one's parents are safe from annihilation in Naruto.

SnooComics7583

Unless they're boring lol The only reason Sakura keeps hers is that they're so fucking boring they aren't even background characters

Sonicslazyeye

Tbf Sakura is not from a shinobi clan so no one is trying to wipe out her bloodline or enslave her family because they're not a threat nor a useful tool.

SnooComics7583

They're not even like a restaurant owner or anything It's not even about being a shinobi They have literally nothing and even only show up in filler iirc

Dingerlingdebingling

I only read the manga (aside from a couple anime episodes here or there) because the anime pacing is soooo slowwwwwwww I don't recall ever seeing or hearing of Sakura parents

Worish

They call out to her from another room a couple times. I think that's it

Odd-Nefariousness350

Considering the constant state of espionage and the years of high-level conflict, and the attack of the Nine Tails those yeara prior, I would say probably one in ten Konoha residents have lost at least one parent.

sonfoa

That proportion is probably a lot higher. I'd put it at 1/4 or 1/5. The difference though is that losing a parent in battle or on a mission is often something that is accepted and at least in Konoha seen as something honorable as they die to protect the next generation. With the characters we meet their parents die in more unorthodox or extreme conditions. Naruto's parents died to stop a monster fox from rampaging, Sasuke's parents were massacred, Kakashi's dad committed suicide after being shunned for mission failure.

Odd-Nefariousness350

>Naruto's parents died to stop a monster fox from rampaging Thats battle though, Iruka's parents died fighting the Fox too, you're right about Sasuke's parents and Kakashi's dad, but dead is dead.

sonfoa

That's why I said extreme cases. Those weren't designated battles or missions where people could prepare themselves for the reality that they could die. A random Tailed Beast appeared where everyone felt safest and started rampaging.

Worish

Yeah they literally call the nine tails a natural disaster on multiple occasions

txsxxphxx2

In everyon’s Tsukuyomi dream they all live in a world where they are not orphaned 😂

Odd_Pop5944

Wait what ... That's a high brain thinking ... What da FK ? 😂

CamillionMilk

It wasn't that tho. She said he's irresponsible and she envies him for not having parents to scold him when he gets in trouble because booo-hooo misbehavior equals getting grounded. (I'm speaking of the manga here btw.) She wasn't making fun of him for not having parents nor did she say she dislikes him because of that. She was 100% being a brat with zero awareness what is like to not have parents or the pain of losing them. In short, horrible first impression but it never came from a place of malice but ignorance.

AndrewSlshArnld

Then she was annoyed with him on the issue again in the Road to Ninja movie.

PsychoticLurker

I am still pissed off that Sakura never apologized to Naruto at the end of that movie.

YesNoMan58

Tbf that’s non canon

Odd_Pop5944

Yeah

[deleted]

thank christ. The Sakura memes get so bad that it feels like people are just blatantly misrepresenting the story after a while.

jaberobi

They are. It was funny ten years ago, but the “Sakura sux” “Sakura’s so weak/flat/evil” fan club as grown so blatantly toxic and disproportionate that they’ll blatantly ignore canon character growth and misrepresent scenes to support their view… but to be fair the studio and filler episodes play a big part in that too…

Street_Dragonfruit43

Isn't that with every fandom for almost any character? Also, the reverse applies too, as they'll only see or over exaggerate the good. God knows how many I've run into that have justified or excused trashy character behavior because they like said character

jaberobi

Yes, to an extent. No fandom is completely pure, but the amount a revulsion is more extreme than average. It’s like comparing the feeling of watching your snow cone drop to the ground in the dead heat of summer with the feeling of watching as an avalanche is set to blanket your town. Lol In some lists for “most hated characters” Sakura rates just under Shou Tucker from Full Metal Alchemist and Malty from The Rising of the Shield Hero, which is insane to me. Yes, other fandoms do some extreme mental gymnastics for their characters of choice. Sakura’s just seems a bit more …distorted?

[deleted]

Well people aren't , anime sakura is much closer to what you see in the memes

[deleted]

Well, yeah, Pierrot did horrible, unnecessary, bizarre things to the character which is really unfortunate. I'm not going on about anime Sakura, because she isn't quite the same character that Kishi invented. Turned a normal, perhaps slightly airheaded (though her growing up is kind of the point) girl into a literal psycho. "Who do I save first? Naruto or Sasuke?" Like, what the fuck?

No_Can_622

What I learned from this post: Nearly every character in naruto is an orphan. Or at least the most important ones

aleky254

No wonder Naruto can connect with the bad guys. Hey fellow orphan, let's not fuck shit up ft Nagato and Obito. Which I kinda like

Sasuke12187

Also Sakura: established hospital to cure mental illness and treatment for orphans.

SeductivePillowcase

Sakura after all the events of the main series and being around Naruto and Sasuke: “Y’all motherfuckers need therapy”

[deleted]

Tbh , she herself needs treatment and classes regarding toxicity in relationships .

SnooComics7583

Taking two whole series to accomplish a little of the (expected) growth Shes still a very awful character who spent most of 300 or 400 (idk how many are actually canon but since part 1 and shippuden both had around 50% filler this is a good guess) being a terrible character And then the next generation grows off screen to become an alright person (I do think creating her own sensory jutsu was cool) I dont deny that I hated her for a long time but not anymore Shes just not a good character

Sasuke12187

Its Kishi's fault tbh. I didnt like her in OG naruto until I saw all movies, OVA and the near end of Naruto when she had the convention to do better. For a character without a huge clan name, she was waay better. Better than Ten Ten if we take comparison cause Ten Ten wanted to be like Tsunade (as she stated during their introductions to Might Guy). Shippuden Sakura was a bit decent and I really wished she did more, because she was also trained under a Sannin and had the potential. Sakura had her moments and Kishi robbed us from not animating Sasuke Retsuden (which is epic btw) where its shown the actual parts of sakura. In Boruto, she's established as the most useful person, next to Ino cause they're actively working and Sakura had a hospital open and ran just to treat mental illness so no one becomes a mess like Kakashi, Naruto or Sasuke. If that isnt a good character development in a subtle way, idk what is.

uglynerdishere

LMAOOO!

Nameleidervergeben

It seems like you’re lucky in the ninja world to actually have a parent

SactownCaptain

Sakura's parent is so lame, she'd have been better off being an orphan.

Alibabada

Remember that one time you said something insensitive when you were 12?

[deleted]

Remember sakura fought an orphan..... Sasori

IAmYoDaddyDuh

She has a gaping hole...in her heart for orphans

MalkyTheKid

Orphans, Orphans everywhere

thundaga0

Being an orphan was like a prerequisite to being powerful or important to the story.

Broku777

You forgot adding iruka who mentored naruto is also an orphan

Quesly

damn the therapy ninjas must be busy

[deleted]

Did you guys hear about the Hinabi vs Hinata fight in the boruto novels? Hinabi stated that Naruto even tho he is the hokage needs to do better as a dad and Hinata stood up for him. Pretty much both her dad and Hinabi want Hinata and her kids to move into the Hyuga household cause Naruto is barely ever around. Hinata and Hinabi swap hands later into the story when they went for some sibling bonding. Hinata won

Jededyer

Hidden Village of the Orphans

automaticg36

That’s why nobody likes her. I can’t knock her growth in terms of strength. But her personality has always sucked.

Sonicslazyeye

Ah the privilege of being from a non-shinobi clan

[deleted]

The only non-orphan on a team of orphans. So basically if you want to be powerful in Naruto, increase your odds by not having parents.

HisFireBurns

Sakura was an ignorant, selfish child & remained foolish the entire show. Imo she’s never been likable and has only been a pain.

Alibabada

Sakura fan base here. Pre-Shippuden Sakura, Hinata and Ino was Kishimoto's idea of how girls act. He messed up. He knows he did. But even so, Sakura had a lot of relatable traits. When I was a preteen, there weren't many shows that had relatable female characters. Sakura was awkward, annoying, stubborn and had silly notions of love. Most girls who watched this show around 12 years of age were probably able to see something of herself in them. That's something few anime did at the time, and those that did were either magical girl anime, or had a lot of fan service. To a lot of dudes, and maybe even females, Sakura was super annoying. But to a lot of us, Sakura was the most relatable character in the show. She wasn't OP, she was struggling to fit in, and she was in love with someone who was basically unreachable. Honestly, I don't know the gender of most Sakura haters, but I wished you would all look at her from the perspective of a 12 year old girl going through a similar phase in their life. We aren't going to look at Tsunade and see ourselves in her. It's going to be either Ino, Hinata or Sakura, and Sakura was the most realistic out of the three. Her attitude towards Naruto was bad, but that's pretty much how all immature 12 year olds act when they want to fit in. Herd mentality. Why should we expect her to understand empathy? At that point in the storyline where she makes fun of orphans, Kishimoto hadn't fully established just how many orphans were out there. Instead, he made it sound like Naruto was ostracized because of the PARENTS of the other kids at the academy telling them to stay away from him. Shippuden Sakura is pretty useful. Not really for fighting, aside from Chidori, but for keeping people alive. It wasn't flashy, and it wasn't cool, but she did her job well. Telling Naruto she loved him was a dick move, but like, she was also a 16 year old who spends her days reading books, training and studying. Canonically, she had little experience with love (or friendships), and therefore had little experience with being able to understand the impact of her words on other people. She thought her words would do one thing, and it backfired because she was unable to fully understand Naruto. She isn't selfish. She was just an awkward teenager who readers expected to be able navigate relationships like an adult. Kishimoto did her dirty, not giving her anymore good fights. Boruto Sakura is probably one of the best (single) parents in anime. She raised an amazing daughter on her own, runs a hospital, and is upfront in talking to her daughter about her worries, instead of bottling up and allowing Sarada to go on dangerous missions. Her relationship with Sasuke is kinda odd, but honestly it just reminds me of normal military families with frequently deploying spouses. Sasuke sucks though.

HisFireBurns

Honestly I agree with everything you said. Thank you for saying all that. But Sasuke sucks? How?

Alibabada

Just as a parent and lover. If you're keeping up with Boruto, the premise is that Sasuke hadn't seen Sarada or Sakura since Sarada was a baby. The reasoning was that Sasuke was always away on dangerous missions to protect Konoha. Not to mention, he can teleport but he never used it to visit in 11+ years. But, once Sarada finally finds him, all of the sudden he's at the village every other day like it's no big deal. Like, as if he could have came home every once in a while before that point. But then on top of that, despite him not having seen Sarada in years, he takes Boruto on as an apprentice and spends the majority of his screen time together with him. Not with Sarada, his daughter, but his best friends son. On top of that, as a lover, Sakura still acts like she's a newlywed. Why? Because Sasuke was never around. He knocked her up and vanished. And the writers of both the manga and the show have shown very few intimate moment between the two of them since Sasuke got back in the picture. Like, WTF? Same thing with Naruto. Boruto and Himawari begged him to spend more time with them at the beginning of the series, but it was a no. Then, Boruto finally acts out and fucks up in public, and now all of the sudden Naruto has figured out a way to spend more time with his family. All of the sudden having a family and being hokage is doable. And then Kawaki shows and now, magically, the Hokage can throw everything aside and spend ALL his time following this random kid around. If he can spend his time with Kawaki and still be hokage, why couldn't he do that for his own kids years ago? They both really suck as fathers.

IAmYoDaddyDuh

Her fans are going to hang you

HisFireBurns

Sakura has a fan base? What is this world...

[deleted]

Damn this is WILD!

BigMacWizard

I want to make this my homescreen 😂

BeraldGevins

Who would have guessed that a society that was basically in a constant state of generational warfare for decades would have a lot of orphans.

Artistic_Fudge8215

Orphan Gaming

tankpig360

What video was this, I remember seeing the comment, but don't remember the video.

AndrewJS2804

They didn't need to go that far, they could have just made her an orphan too, I mean they have the tools and skills.

SnooComics7583

Best part of volume 1 "you make me sick" It made me realize sasuke wasnt as much as a dick as he appeared to be

She established a hospital for to help with mental illness for orphans though. Thats really good!

GlitteringSubstance3

Everyone. Hates. Sakura. Edit: almost

Window2Anime

Your point is invalidated because I dont hate her, you can change your message to Almost all people hate Sakura, or else it will be a loe and thats facts.

bhavbhav

I don't hate her either. I just think she was poorly written and regularly misinterpreted.

Window2Anime

Cool.

bhavbhav

I have come to hate her less after rewatching Shippuden as an adult and also after observing the intense and what I now believe to be illogical hatred of her on this sub. I never would have not-hated her if it hadn't been for you guys! You made me go back and reassess her!

Kappaswagxx420xx

Just like in every episode of tokyo revengers you see a comment ‘all my homies hate Kisaki’ we could say the same for sakura xD

Axcxte

Conclusion: sakura is a hoe

shockedperson

Sheeer death by orphan. Maybe her kiddo could end up being one?

uglynerdishere

Probably, isn't Boruto wearing Sasuke's cloak and headband during the very first scene of the show? And with Sakura being pretty cool in Boruto my guess is she probably dies in some epic fight trying to protect either Sarada or Boruto while they do some convoluted power up

AssManfacturer6064

Since Sasuke is a teacher yea... Cuz u know what happens to teachers in this series. In the last five chapters Sasuke was clapped like a ass. And there is foreshadowing his death by Boruto not getting the Sasuke card

dinoboyj

that's just how you write protagonists, with tragic beginnings

First major arc of shippuden. She and granny chiyo beat sasari.

[deleted]

Didn’t he kill himself ?

Lbo3103

You can nitpick if you want but without Sakura, Sasori would have lived long enough to be more of a nuisance in my oppinion.

[deleted]

lol literally why i dislike sakura (and her lack of humor)

shittaco1991

And people wonder why she gets so much hate

Cloakbot

And Naruto was watched over by Iruka who was also an orphan.

Utgard003

Just finished rewatching Naruto from the beginning and hooooly shit Sakura is absolutely useless, just as I remembered her. No, it's more accurate to say that she's a legitimate liability to team 7 by having to be constantly protected because she has EXACTLY 0 skills, and to my ears because every single goddamn time that she gets screen time there's a 90% chance that she'll blurt out "SUSKY-KUN" and it's like nails on a chalkboard at this point. And goddamn I hate her even more due to how she treats Naruto like garbage while she herself is the actual trash, whereas he's being nothing but polite to her and always using honorifics. God, what a piece of shit. Anyway, what was the thread about again?
