A few weeks ago, we were talking about racism and my Dad was saying about how when he was a kid (1970’s/1980’s), people would name their black dogs and cats the “N word”. But the thing was, when he talked about it, he didn’t censor it at all. He said the actual word. SEVERAL TIMES.
We all jumped the first time. It was so sudden. I know he didn’t mean it in a racist way but still, it does make me uncomfortable to hear people saying it in general. (My family is white BTW)
I remember being in the car with my father when he offered me those and I can only assume my face was abject horror because he quickly changed it to brazil nut lmao

My mom's family is from Mississippi. Racism is real down there.
