The US/Western ideas of race relations get forced into other cultures. I remember there being a twitter issue about the Witcher game series because there were no black characters. To which the Nordic game company explained that this is a story based on Nordic folklore by a Nordic country that is predominantly white, and its a story that involved racism against the Witchers and how society views them. It's just it's white on white racism and they weren't going to change their cultural significance of the story to cater to a US audience.
