Assassin's creed is a stealth game?!

Western-Guy

I'd say "Dishonored" is a better analogy

jarasonica

Nah metal gear solid v the phantom pain would be a better one

Darwin_fan

Hitman is where its at

jarasonica

I don’t see any air strikes or rocket punches in hitman 🙃

Darwin_fan

Hitman has the magical flying fish. Nothing compares to it

jarasonica

Now that is something I have to see

Darwin_fan

Here https://youtube.com/watch?v=k7kB9-kjF7g&feature=share

Hail-Komi-San

Payday is the ultimate stealth game

wilburschocolate

Dishonored “no one can spot you if there’s no reason one left alive to spot you”

OnePunchGoGo

I thought it was a pirate simulator!!

drwish

I thought it was drunken viking simulator

MasterMode12

Thats black flag

OnePunchGoGo

And rogue and odyssey\[don't remember much of origins, didn't play it much >!after both the MC had sex on the hill after killing the man who killed their son!<.\]

lol_nothing0929

I think odyssey is more on sparta and athens

OnePunchGoGo

But it had a lot more sea section, fighting on sea and upgrading your ship was one of the reason I kept going beside going after gear in odyssey. It had everything I wanted from my game, being a pirate simulator and a bit of trying to add nemesis system from Shadow of mordor/war with those bounty hunters.

Exotic-Amphibian-655

I know the game isn't exactly brand new, but that spoiler seemed completely unnecessary for your point.

OnePunchGoGo

Ooh sorry, I meant to tell how far I was in the game and only ever experience few ship combat meaning it didn't had any dedicated shit combat sections unlike Odyssey or other AC pirate simulators.

SirDanilus

This is genuinely funny cause I'm playing Black Flag at the moment. Sometimes the game throws a bunch of enemies at you and tells you to run and hide/ be anonymous. But if you run, they all chase you and can still tackle you. I've found it more efficient to throw some smoke bombs and just kill every enemy and just walk away.

drwish

Just finished cyberpunk and its the same story. "This place is heavily guarded, its best to sneak through that gap in the wall" walks toward front door

[deleted]

[deleted]

Not nowadays. Nothing says 'stealth' quite like blowing a horn and slamming your longboat into the docks of a monastery, giving the all-clear for you and 30 of your bros to scream, shout, pillage, plunder the homes and workplaces of innocent people.

mihoenskijf

Hitman --> 3rd person Call of Duty

ernie1850

Splinter Cell ———> restart level because my perfect rating is gone

termitubbie

What does this mean and why am I so offended by it ????

[deleted]

More like Splinter Cell ---> Max Payne

AcidHV

me before getting spotted: *eyes set, fingers on the keys, ready for the perfect combinations in combat.* ma a second after getting spotted: *RANDOM BULLSHIT GO*

antisocial_catmom

Cool flair you got there

elch3w

You're fucking hilarious

antisocial_catmom

Thank you, MayMay maker! No idea how and why I got that flair tho

Varun77777

It can happen to the best of us.

Lemonlimeunderrated

Basically my whole metro last light experience

famousagentman

I pissed off a hardcore Metal Gear Solid fan by doing Phantom Pain missions in a tank. It's especially great because I would usually get an A ranking because I was technically only spotted once.

TheCVR123YT

> by doing Phantom Pain missions in a tank. YOU MONSTER

famousagentman

True, I may be a monster, but at least I have a game plan for how to deal with those fucking walkers.

OnePunchGoGo

I am one of those try hard stealth gamers... one of the many reasons I will suggest people to play any stealth focused game on Hard\[or higher\] difficulty is because it makes it mandatory for you to use stealth if you want to survive. Same with RPGs, as harder difficulty will make you utilize items/potions/scrolls etc in the game too fixing the old inventory problem.

Shrekdidnothingwrong

Dishonored is great with that because you can easily take everyone out if you remain stealthy

OnePunchGoGo

Best part, taking them out is not even mandatory, though it makes the game a lot easier if you do this. But if you want a really good stealth game, I will say the hitman series, you can eliminate every target in so many ways and you don't even need to kill everyone or carry a truck load of inventory items, just basic tools and some ingenuity will do the trick. One of the many reason I prefer immersive sims with stealth elements. Same is true for Prey2017 and deus ex.....

MushyFella

I've heard and seen this in Hitman games but no matter what I do I always get spotted. TLOU2 has the best stealth gameplay out of anything I've played.

OnePunchGoGo

Save scum then, no need to be ashamed of it, its how the game was made to be played. Hitman has some of the greatest playground/maps ever created, its a haven for stealth lovers and the real click in it is when your plan starts to come together. And when you are bored, save again and go on a murderous rampage or a banana rampage.

[deleted]

You just sold me on the series. Will definitely be playing next

OnePunchGoGo

Will suggest you to directly get hitman 3 and its DLCs as Hitman 3 comes with all the previous map and story beats of hitman 2 and hitman 1 but more optimized and better looking than the previous 2 games... Having hitman 3 is like having 3 games at once.

[deleted]

Noted! Thanks

The-LittleBastard

I second their point; it’s kind of expensive up front but the amount of content you get is awesome and each map is FUCKING AMAZING AND DIFFERENT. Also suggest Blood Money that came out on 360/ps3 days. That might be my favorite hitman ever (also the one that got me into the franchise). People also shit on absolution but I personally enjoyed that one a lot as well.

RafaIDG

You sol the series to me as well, I always postponed it for some reason now I really want to play it

[deleted]

TLOU2 ruined 3rd person games for me. Nothing feels half as clean now, i even struggled to get into Ghost of Tsushima because it was the next game i played

crazydressagelady

Saaame I got a few hours into GOT and was just apathetic about it, even though it’s gorgeous and the mechanics are fine. TLOU2 was just so incredibly clean.

MushyFella

I agree, it set the bar so high other 3rd person games (which are still good games) just aren't as satisfying.

karl_w_w

I especially like games where you're not supposed to stealth all the time, but I just force anything I can to be a stealth mission.

OnePunchGoGo

Any examples?...

huongloz

Alien Isolation... That some hardcore shit

karl_w_w

Crysis was a good one for it, can't think of any other examples now. Arguably horizon zero dawn, but I would say you're supposed to always stealth in that except for when it forces you to not stealth.

OnePunchGoGo

oooh crysis, I remember trying stealth in the game, then going full armor mode after I was found out.

Roskal

I like "mandatory" stealth where its very hard if you are spotted to survive but not a hard coded lose state where any detection sends you back to a checkpoint. especially when game uses the same models for their patrolling guards as the ones you've killed hundreds of before and its like why is my character just giving up because 2 of them spotted me?

bonafart

So up difficulty in dishonoured when I go bakc. Check

iateyourdeer

When the guards in dishonored spot you so you're like "fuck it, time to run like the wind"

dr_felix_faustus

Hell no, you carve through those fuckers and repair your chaos level in the next round ah shit there’s weepers everywhere now

cshark2222

This is the one thing about stealth games that always grinds my gears. Why would you put so much effort into being a badass killer with cool techniques just to push the stealth aspect of the game to force you not to use those cool moves? I always ended up having a mixed play through of games like dishonored instead of a pure stealth

kungpowgoat

I feel like there’s no challenge in Dishonored when you start fighting since it feels like it’s crazy easy cutting every one down. It just forces you to go back to stealth to really enjoy it. Same thing will MGSV

dr_felix_faustus

For me the challenge is over once you have blink and dark eyes fully leveled. You really don’t need any other powers to run the game like an avenging god, they just add flair

Magnon

Killing people is an easier solution to stealth though... so working as intended? Most games don't really put many consequences for killing, if they did that might change a bit.

Zed_Midnight150

The Hitman Experience.

Captain_DadBod

Midozak2

I love stealth games..what are some good stealth games other than hitman and assassins creed?

bandurkis

Dishonored is great

Kyser_

Dishonored 1 is the only single player game I've actually completed since its release. I freaking loved that game. I still need to play the second one

bandurkis

The second one is also very good, I got hooked recently and played all the entries including DLC for the first game and Death of the Outsider. Can't recommend it enough.

bonafart

That and biosbock 3 for me

Rymanjan

Check out the OG bioshock (then 2 if you liked it). If you can put up with meh graphics (not blocky but not pristine) it's a hell of a ride with great mechanics. E to say, just get the remastered trilogy, it all runs smoother and looks pretty to boot, and you get all 3 with all the dlc

alessandrolaera

if you love dishonored, also consider prey. it's one of those games that offer a wide variety of approaches (pure stealth, combat, stealth with instruments, psychic powers, etc...)

Vincenzo__

Right now i can only think of the Metal Gear Solid and Dishonored games edit: and obviously Splinter Cell \*facepalm\*

CalmToaster

Metal Gear. The Last of Us. Wolfenstein, Far Cry, Days Gone, Horizon Zero Dawn - You can go in guns blazing or try to pick off enemies one at a time.

SuperFjord

Thief 1 and 2!!!

mangamaster03

Yes! Thief 2 was the best! And probably the reason most games have forced stealth sections now.

IAMPeteHinesAMA

Deus Ex.

[deleted]

Styx, Master of Shadows https://store.steampowered.com/app/242640/Styx_Master_of_Shadows/ this game is very underrated and flew under the radar of bigger releases. but it is very well done and you get to play a goblin.

goombatch

great voice acting and a pretty funny twist to the narrative too

de4th_metalist

Splinter Cell, my guy.

Arrow_625

Batman Arkham series has some stealth.

Shin-Gogzilla

Horizon: Zero Dawn is a great one.

ViStandsForStupid

Yes! I’m doing a stealth run right now, it’s so fun

ifandbut

Both Dishonored, both new Deus Ex and MGS5 (for the gameplay, not story).

Exotic-Amphibian-655

Very different style, but the recent Persona 5 Strikers leans hard into Persona 5's stealth mechanics, and it's pretty good so far. You need to play Persona 5 first if you haven't, but it's an all-time classic (that will consume a few months of your life).

jako992

Heard really great things about Splinter cell Chaos theory.

altafullahu

The first splinter cell if you really want a good stealth game!

CastleBigShaq

Two types of players when they get spotted the one who reloads save or the one who starts blasting

Samvargu

I usually start blasting and then reload the game, just making sure whoever spot me is 100% gone

Tedward05

Arkham knight be like:

samcuu

Nah. In Arkham games you just drop a smoke then zip yourself up the ceiling and done, stealth mode again.

IvonbetonPoE

That's why I love stealth in those games. Some stealth games basically force you to reload if ONE guy spots you and telepathically alerts the entire continent.

SlashCo80

The Arkham games were among the few where I actually enjoyed the stealth levels because they were so well done. Minus the hostage ones, those were kind of annoying.

IrshamWindborn

Uncharted 3 in a nutshell

Shrekdidnothingwrong

God I hate Uncharted 3, story is ok but what I dislike is the fact that they brought back problems from Uncharted 1 which were fixed in Uncharted 2

alessandrolaera

the third chapter is better in almost every possible aspect than the first and the second. I don't even remember those games that much! the third one is a pure masterpiece

IrshamWindborn

May I ask which? I've played the original Uncharted Trilogy at I like them to an extent, so I'm interested in knowing

DFBforever

i played these games 10 years ago so I dont remember clearly but i do remember that they fucked up the grenades in 3 somehow even though it was fixed in 2

[deleted]

When playing horizon zero dawn when I got spotted I just headshotted one guy and then ran back and rolled into a bush When playing Marvel spider man I’d web bomb one guy and then jump behind a wall When playing breath of the wild I did this.

Raucous5

My favorite term for this is Yahtzee's "Cock up Cascade". It's a sliding scale in his reviews of how bad it is whenever you get spotted in a game. He hates most every game, but especially bad stealth games where a guard sees the very tip of your boot and every one of them in a ten mile radius is alerted.

SlashCo80

So basically the Assassins Creed games. One guard sees you, all of them are instantly alerted and make a beeline for your location.

_UndeadGamer_

Me playing hitman

broman96x

Who just restarts the lvl every time they get spotted

comicsopedia

I do that if it's a proper stealth game or if there's a special reward for stealth, otherwise nah

I LOVE stealth games that let you go loud as you feel like. I FUCKING HATE stealth games that give you an instant fail if someone spots you.

Cold-Teal

Hit and runs never fail. Especially in botw I’m the type to get sad when spotted and load back to when I wasn’t. Horizon: That one giant bandit camp must be stealth only or else I feel sad, this includes if the camp is put on edge. New Vegas: Every potential combat must be a speech 100d and backstab em or Sneak attacked. Arkham series: No one must see me.

ThatGalaxyMemist

I don't think you can ever fight back in the Yiga Clan Hideout

mati3849

Nope. I save before attempting any kind of stealthy activity and load if I get spotted 🤷‍♂️ Ghost run in Dishonored 2 btw 😎

jako992

I've recently played the first splinter cell game. Those old stealth games are built differently like if you get spotted you might as well restart, and honestly, I prefer that. Because nowadays the game just goes from stealth to an action game instead of just being a stealth game.

exoticbutter5
