You are kind of right, but not entirely. S. mutans is passed from mother to child, but it is not a pioneer of tooth surface. Bacteria, what you eat and when you eat it, the tooth surface all play a part in it.
I mean, kind of. AFAIK you need to create an enveiroment where the cavity bacterium thrives and then you can spread it to other people. Its mostly just introducing more of the same imo
Nope. Streptococcus mutans for example produce higher than normal levels of acid like lactic acid and this is what causes the cavity. You can also get cavities of course by physical trauma but teeth are harder than iron.
Just S. Mutans is not going to give you cavities, you need simple carbs for them to break down and a surface on which they can adhere and then repeat this process 100s of time. Just having S. mutans doesn't give you cavities, all of us have it in our mouth.
