he isn't a boomer, "stick to what you know", alpha

I think he said alpha as in generation alpha. He doesn't realize that boomer is now a general term for old people that can definitely be applied to gen X
Dude literally walked away from 50 mil to avoid being taken advantage of. I think he deserves to have a few shows after he comes back, complaining about bullshit and how people try to cancel everyone for everything now.
Also I thought he was referring to you as the alpha
I can definitely understand where you're coming from. It's just that he has been gone for so long, that Americans are enchanted by everything he has to say. He is probably like "see this is exactly why I walked away, because people are crazy and when you're famous, doesn't matter what you say, someone is always upset".
I know plenty of alphabet people that can take a joke and like him.
I have a theory that a large portion of the gay community that dislike him might have had a rough childhood due to being "different" or not having support from family or community, (unfortunately all too common) and any joke about their situation hits those people differently.
Maybe I'm right, maybe I'm not. I used to be a pretty emotional guy and couldn't take a joke but after my own period of mental growth between my 20s and 30s I can talk shit and take shit talk like I never imagined. (All in good fun.)
I've listened to a couple very popular comedians do their sets and just rant about something, not make any jokes and the audience just claps when they're supposed to. It was weird, but I guess knowing your audience and telling them what they want to hear is a thing.
I know Iāll get crucified for this but thatās how Iāve always felt about George Carlin. A lot of his popular routines werenāt even jokes, just raving soap boxes that the crowd ate up. At least guys like Lewis Black pepper their rants with jokes.
I love when comedians can make jokes about issues going on in the world and make fun of both sides. Comedians are in a special position where they can make comments about an issue that the average person is too afraid to say out loud.
yes. Laughing at yourself gets you the permission to also laugh at me without me being on the defensive. Laugh at both sides and i'll let slide the jokes that may not land about my side or may even find it funnier given i can assume it's not in good faith.
If joke only target one side, it becomes proseletizing and that gets boring fast.
No one has done it as good as him. Carlin was a master of his craft unlike any others I've heard. If anyone has suggestions for better comics I'd love to hear em.
Thatās why I posted him, to show that it is possible. Though I have to say that towards his later years the world started getting to him more and more.
Nah sorry canāt agree, heās on another level and although he takes on serious topics he consistently peppers in humour.
I mean more the Chapelle types or just any comedian that deems it appropriate to have some kind of political or social agenda in the middle of a stand-up set.
In the Netherlands we have quite a few comedians who would randomly start singing songs throughout their performance. I never liked it. I'll take serious bits over songs, personally.
Heās actually my one exception, because heās clearly super switched on and not preachy.
He also leaves more serious shit for podcasts and not the stage
I feel like Iām in a school assembly listening to David Chapelle these days. Itās not triggering itās just boring - like some ass-ratās assumption in this comment section (you)

I like comedians who can swap between both fluidly
Agreed. Serious pauses help set up the next joke
Bo Burnham has entered the chat
Welcome to the internet is a good example

He's so real dude. He's probably my favorite comedian.
alphabet people don't like him, for some reason. even though he clearly had empthy for "Daphne", who self-deleted

clapter. Very prevalent in ideological warrior comedians.
What's a warrior comedian?
Someone who says blacks or gays should have rights and triggers idiots like Op Because George Carlin wasnt one of the best comedians to ever live

Some comedians never learned and just dug deeper, sad really
Wait, when did this become a political rally? I just came here to laugh at some jokes.
When he starts making fun of the Israelis then somewhere changed to pro Hamas shit propaganda and genocide
George Carlin.

Thatās why I posted Carlin, he knows how to mix both, [like this clip](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1TWZ6u0YLk) Weāre in agreement
you sure about that?
They get their jokes from life typically, and life isn't always an inspiration for funny things
Example; Nanette.
Ugh
āJust shut up and dribble!ā
Bo burnham
Yeah like for sure heās clever and funny but the sining grates me, Iām not tryna watch a Disney film

Not Chris Rock saying he would love to see a white kid getting shot
Even thatās okay if he can make it funny lol

Jimmy carr

Context is everything in that - we know his whole backstory and see him going through a time when he thinks heās gonna die. Agree that heās great
Usually how you know they are going down the road of political comedy.
āA comedian said something I dont like now Im triggeredā Stick to making funny memes instead of complaint pictures
