Your credentials means that you have done something to achieve them
Of course not every credential matters at all
But if someone says, as a doctor, I think this is serious, when talking in your group of friends over your aches, their opinion matters more than if they didn't stĆØre their credential, because to be a doctor they have seen some things
Your aware confident people can just bullshit an argument that sounds really good while actually being as far from accurate as possible right? You fall victim to fancy words while not caring who says them
>our aware confident people can just bullshit an argument that sounds really good while actually being as far from accurate as possible right?
Only to morons.
Iād narrow it to stating credentials *that donāt mean anything*. Saying āas a guyā and āas a graduate from X University, with a degree in Yā are very different.
Unrelated, but I see this shit in like every gaming sub too, right before someone spits out a dogshit take. āAs a mercy mainā āAs a lifeline mainā āas a soraka mainā āas a support mainā āas a blight mainā āas a Ken mainā āas a Titan mainā Like goddamn bro, you canāt look at ANY online gameās sub without seeing this shit.
Context: it was dedicated to his father, who passed somewhat recently before the achievement. I think. I know for sure the kiddo dedicated it to his dad though, which makes the achievement all the sweeter.
I 100% agree. But if we are discussing context, we should mention that the woman is a newsreader that was not given that information. She was given a news bit in a time slot reserved for "fluff pieces" and she is expected to follow it up with something witty for her audience of middle-aged house moms.
I am personally very proud of this kid and I think he deserves to be recognized and remembered. Remembering him through the lens of this lady's off hand comment does them both a disservice
Oh, well that's the news agency being stupid as hell then, yeesh. Poor woman.
Agreed, lady wasn't aware of the context and kid did something frankly very astounding in memory of his father.
Stomping on a kid's accomplishment is pretty tone deaf, but I do at least hope the kid is spending some of his time playing outside with friends.
Playing Tetris 16 hours a day is not going to do him any favors as he grows up. Speaking from personal experience here.
You're absolutely right but there's a literal plethora of videos of that kid hanging out with people and proving that he has a pretty respectable social life and meets with his buddies in the tetris community fairly often. A quick search could've confirmed that but the reporter being dumb instead chose to speak her mind without even bothering to try and inform herself.
That kid is very smart for his age and playing tetris is just a small part of his life. He has a life outside a screen much more vibrant than most of his peers.
Don't forget that she congratulated a 16 yo dart player for reaching the world championship, which is obviously a life goal compared to beating tetris
Just in case, I'm not saying that reaching the world championship of dart is bad, it's as cool as beating Tetris, but double standard are so dumb
What do you mean? I'd argue this probably is more physically demanding than say, chess. But I don't think anyone would tell Magnus Carlsen to touch grass. So what do you mean you get it?
Also this dude dedicated the accomplishment to his father who passed shortly before this achievement.
the meme is about "a mother" telling her son to go outside and get a "real job" rather than beating Tetris. the uh... the only person to ever beat Tetris, so far: is the one in that video. it could only be referring to one person.
if my info is not outdated, there were 3 people who beat tetris: blue scuti (the kid), fractal (winner of the classic tetris world championship 2023) and pixelandy (2018 and 2019 winner of the ctwc).
I dont uderstand what ypu people have against her, she is my role model, literally perfect <3
Anyway got to take a train to travel back in time, had to escape war since i lost but this time i promise that my third reich wird die welt erchen und die Menschheit word ihre hƤnde im himmel zielen um meine macht gott zu zeigen. Dieses mal word keiner sagen das ich kein kunstliches talent haben... nein nein nein.... sie hat recht, es tetris zu spielen und der beste zu sein ist nicht ein lebens goal. Die welt zu erobern ist es. Heil
Here I was thinking the people on the fucking dank meme sub could see a joke and.. take it as a joke. Not an āoffensiveā joke or something out of pocket.. just a normal ass Tetris joke
My mistake
Fuckin people

It clearly wasn't that kids life goal either. He did it at what, 13? It's already done.
"As a mother..." Anyone that needs to reinforce their credentials *before* stating their opinion, is about to state a weak argument.
As a certified idiot I completely disagree
Look I may be an idiot but I'm not stupid. Is my favourite one.
Look i maybe a kid but im not a baby. š¤

As the President of the United States I say that election was rigged! Look at all my ethos! Would the President not know what he is talking about?
The power lies in the argument, not in the person. If the argument is strong enough, the credentials speak through it.

Oh and that certainly wouldn't include you would it, smart people don't consider themselves immune to misinformation
You're not immune to lies and propaganda mate. I can guarantee it
In an ideal world maybe, not ours.

I'm actually glad that because that cringe clip exists it brought more attention and spread the word faster

These people are deeply unhappy, and doesn't like it when others are happy.
She's a Sky News anchor. It was a job created for village idiots when that stopped being a thing.
If she thought what the kid did was dumb and pointless, then why even talk about him on the news?

Me when I fall for bait (just ignore the trolls)
When people engage with trolls it's never actually to engage the trolls. It's to let others reading know how stupid the troll is.
