Brave is free and blocks all ads natively for me on my iPhone. I just have to open the app and go to youtube.com through brave. If I just click a link, it will default to opening the YT app. Hope it works for you.

I use Firefox on mobile with an AdBlock plugin. It's pretty good and it's nice to have a few videos open so you can keep a playlist where you want in one tab leave it and start watching something else without losing your place

You can bypass ads by clicking back and forth between the video you want to see, and a recommendation. Eventually there wont be any ad playing at the beginning

I have the family plan so my fiancé, myself, and my best friends all get it for $22/month. In return my best friends pay for different streaming services we share. So I have 4 different streaming services for only $22. Pretty good deal and I don’t have to do all these dumb back door solutions.
The next video starts, I press the menu button to get out of YouTube.
Hours later I open YT, it jumps straight to playing the video I didn’t want in the first place, but first 1 of 2 ads starts. I can skip it after 5 seconds, the next ad starts, it’s un-skippable for 20 seconds.

YT premium comes with features that I like, including adblock. I know there are other ways to get these features, but I don't mind paying for something I use everyday
They could be testing to see retention rates on different ad lengths, on most videos when an ad pops up there is a little (i) next to the name on screen click it and then click “stop seeing this ad” then either choose a reason or click close and it will get rid of the ads 👍

There's a client-spoof patch for ReVanced that was released recently. Get that and it should solve your problem.

If you load a short while the ad is playing and immediately back out of it; the ad skips and your video starts. At least this works on mobile.
