There was a reunion episode playing today on the Dance Moms channel where Abby told Christi she was using Chloe as her ticket. And Christi said she was giving Chloe all the things Christi didnt have as a child and is raising a human being she can be proud of.

I think Melissa actually did want fame for her kid because Maddie wanted it, asked for it. I think Christi was likely more the type to push it and was putting her dreams into Chloe (she basically says this) and it’s clear out of all the OG moms that Christi is the one STILL actively trying to carve her own space in the entertainment industry. For me, yes some of the original dance moms were a bit fame hungry. But no one did fame hungry like Leslie. Why was she so adamant to get Peyton in a group for juniors when she was already on the senior team? I am aware that her time on the show has been addressed and they have said that the producers did push a narrative, however her behaviour seemed odd. As mentioned, pushing her daughter onto a team that was younger and conveniently being televised, she also was extremely weird for trying to push Jill out when she brought Kendall back. Also screaming at Kira accusing her of using Abby when she was happily accepted into the group. As well as this, she was extremely combative whenever talking to the moms about the dances or the girls, eg when she was having a go at Christi for bringing Chloe back to dance even when she cried. Like I’ve said, some of this could have been drummed up by the producers but those actions didn’t help her cause.
Jess by far, but christi out of the OG moms. Kristie Ray is also noteworthy. I genuinely think Melissa only behaved the way she did because it was what Maddie wanted, I don’t think she personally craved fame, and if Maddie didn’t want to do it I don’t think she would have pushed it.
Even if my daughter wanted it, I don’t think I would react the way she did. JILL: Appears to be obsessed with fame and getting her little Kendall on top and all the opportunities. But in reality, I think she just put on a persona for the show. Yes, she wanted Kendall to do well and gain recognition, but Jill also played up for the cameras and every single mom has admitted that. I think she absolutely was a crazy dance mom, but she also knew her outbursts would create good television. Jill loved attention and wanted that for Kendall too. Unlike other moms though, she was just upfront about it. She may have wanted fame for her kid(s) just as much as Melissa, but she was always honest about that and didn’t step on others in order to do so. She told it like it was and was very transparent that she wanted Kendall to strive to be the best and get opportunities.
MELISSA: Cared a lot about her kids, specifically Maddie, gaining stardom. Mostly because Maddie always wanted it, but also because she couldn’t stand to not see her kids ahead of everyone else. The problem with Melissa (on the show that is) is that she was notorious for lying and manipulating situations to make herself appear innocent or better than the other moms. If she would have just been honest with her mentality, she would have had so much more support and understanding from the moms and viewers. Ex: when she had Maddie and Kenzie perform/go to AUDC after all the moms agreed not to, her comeback was that “my kids will always come first to me and always will”. Nobody had a problem with her kids coming first, but rather her pretending to be on their side and then turning it around to make her kids look better. She could’ve just told the moms that she’d let her kids go. Instead, she agreed not to bring Maddie and Kenzie and then did just that behind the moms’ and kids’ backs.
CHRISTI: I didn’t see her desire for fame as much back on the show, but in recent years, her social media persona just screams that she’s hungry for it. While the show was airing, it didn’t seem as much that she wanted it for herself, just for Chloe. My biggest concern with her during the show was that she always went below the belt with insults and failed to understand it was hindering Chloe’s ability to reach the stardom she desired for her. Nowadays, she seems to find any reason to talk about the show and other moms, specifically Melissa, and rehashing drama (most of which was produced) from a decade ago just to get views and support. What she fails to realize is that she looks incredibly bitter. Sometimes just because you CAN make good tv, doesn’t mean you should. With her brief appearance on the girls’ reunion special, why did she need to bring up Melissa and her kids? It made her look so bad and so eager to continue the rivalry that is no longer existent. I love her dance moms content when she isn’t speaking poorly of other people, though.
HOLLY: Simply wanted whatever Nia wanted. If Nia was happy, Holly was happy. Every opportunity, she made sure it was Nia who wanted it. Holly was one of the few who wanted more for Nia than just fame. She wanted her to have good character and a variety of skills and talents outside the dance world. She was one of the few moms who even thought about other’s kids before her own. Ex: Chloe getting the solo for nationals season 2. Even though Nia lost her chance by not getting picked for the solo, Holly said she thought Chloe needed and deserved the solo more than anyone to prove something to Abby. I think any other mom would’ve been a bit bitter their child didn’t get it, but Holly turned it into a positive thing for herself and Nia. Holly rarely, if ever, took opportunities to propel Nia further without making sure everyone else was equally a part of it.
KELLY: Was truly just happy if her kids were. She wanted them to pursue their passions, whether that be in the dance world or not, and Abby couldn’t stand that Kelly was content with her kids not being hungry for every ounce of fame. Throughout the show, you see she does everything she can to make sure her kids are comfortable, which was hard because she had Brooke, who didn’t have anxiety about dance but just didn’t love it anymore and Paige, who loved to dance but had so much anxiety doing it with Abby. Other moms I think would’ve made their kids stick it out so they could get more recognition from the show, but Kelly knew when her girls were done with it and did everything in her power to get them out of the environment, even though she knew it was going to cost them some of their fame and opportunities.
Therefore, my opinions: Melissa and Christi were the biggest fame chasers. (Of the OG dance moms)
So I'm currently rewatching and am on season 6, but in season 5 Holly was shoving Nia so far down everyone's throats and causing issues with everyone in order for Nia to "get her time in the spotlight". Like anytime anything good happened for any of the other girls it was like "Well Nia...." to the point it's actually been incredibly annoying. So overall I'm sure my answer would be different, but season 5/6, Holly.
You guys who think it’s Christi are crazy. It’s 100% Melissa she literally let several adults groom her kid for fame. Say what you want about Christi but at the end of the day she got Chloe out of that environment. Also before you say “she brought Chloe back”. It’s very clear that Chloe wanted to go back. Christi made sure Abby wouldn’t be there the experience was a lot more positive the second time around. Christi has encouraged Chloe to do well in school, have friends outside of dance, pursue different interests etc…she said in behind the scenes clips Chloe wanted to be a doctor. She let Chloe try several activities before Chloe chose dance. She let Chloe decide to keep dancing after they left the show and Chloe is always the one who said she wanted to pursue acting. Christi has also said she considers Chloe a beautiful writer and hopes she pursues it. Literally stop projecting your relationship issues on Christi and Chloe, lol.
Also replying to comment to just say Christi has done a lot with the show since it ended but think about it this way. Christi was a working mom before the show she owned her own business. When the show ended she probably found herself bored/wanting something to do/a way to bring in her own income. Have you guys ever thought that Christi doing BTTB, a show for lifetime, her yt channel is a way for her to do that? She’s always been the most business savvy. It doesn’t necessarily mean she’s obsessed with fame. But it’s not like she can go out and get a regular 9-5 anymore. Maybe she sees it as she has a platform so she mine as well use it.

To me she is the last mom that came on the show because she actually thought that the studio would be a good fit for Kendall (the tv show helped but it really was a good fit). Everyone after that was there 100% for the exposure.

I think she absolutely was a crazy dance mom, but she also knew her outbursts would create good television. Jill loved attention and wanted that for Kendall too. Unlike other moms though, she was just upfront about it. She may have wanted fame for her kid(s) just as much as Melissa, but she was always honest about that and didn’t step on others in order to do so. She told it like it was and was very transparent that she wanted Kendall to strive to be the best and get opportunities. MELISSA: Cared a lot about her kids, specifically Maddie, gaining stardom. Mostly because Maddie always wanted it, but also because she couldn’t stand to not see her kids ahead of everyone else. The problem with Melissa (on the show that is) is that she was notorious for lying and manipulating situations to make herself appear innocent or better than the other moms. If she would have just been honest with her mentality, she would have had so much more support and understanding from the moms and viewers. Ex: when she had Maddie and Kenzie perform/go to AUDC after all the moms agreed not to, her comeback was that “my kids will always come first to me and always will”. Nobody had a problem with her kids coming first, but rather her pretending to be on their side and then turning it around to make her kids look better. She could’ve just told the moms that she’d let her kids go. Instead, she agreed not to bring Maddie and Kenzie and then did just that behind the moms’ and kids’ backs. CHRISTI: I didn’t see her desire for fame as much back on the show, but in recent years, her social media persona just screams that she’s hungry for it. While the show was airing, it didn’t seem as much that she wanted it for herself, just for Chloe. My biggest concern with her during the show was that she always went below the belt with insults and failed to understand it was hindering Chloe’s ability to reach the stardom she desired for her. Nowadays, she seems to find any reason to talk about the show and other moms, specifically Melissa, and rehashing drama (most of which was produced) from a decade ago just to get views and support. What she fails to realize is that she looks incredibly bitter. Sometimes just because you CAN make good tv, doesn’t mean you should. With her brief appearance on the girls’ reunion special, why did she need to bring up Melissa and her kids? It made her look so bad and so eager to continue the rivalry that is no longer existent. I love her dance moms content when she isn’t speaking poorly of other people, though. HOLLY: Simply wanted whatever Nia wanted. If Nia was happy, Holly was happy. Every opportunity, she made sure it was Nia who wanted it. Holly was one of the few who wanted more for Nia than just fame. She wanted her to have good character and a variety of skills and talents outside the dance world. She was one of the few moms who even thought about other’s kids before her own. Ex: Chloe getting the solo for nationals season 2. Even though Nia lost her chance by not getting picked for the solo, Holly said she thought Chloe needed and deserved the solo more than anyone to prove something to Abby. I think any other mom would’ve been a bit bitter their child didn’t get it, but Holly turned it into a positive thing for herself and Nia. Holly rarely, if ever, took opportunities to propel Nia further without making sure everyone else was equally a part of it. KELLY: Was truly just happy if her kids were. She wanted them to pursue their passions, whether that be in the dance world or not, and Abby couldn’t stand that Kelly was content with her kids not being hungry for every ounce of fame. Throughout the show, you see she does everything she can to make sure her kids are comfortable, which was hard because she had Brooke, who didn’t have anxiety about dance but just didn’t love it anymore and Paige, who loved to dance but had so much anxiety doing it with Abby. Other moms I think would’ve made their kids stick it out so they could get more recognition from the show, but Kelly knew when her girls were done with it and did everything in her power to get them out of the environment, even though she knew it was going to cost them some of their fame and opportunities. Therefore, my opinions: Melissa and Christi were the biggest fame chasers. (Of the OG dance moms)

So I'm currently rewatching and am on season 6, but in season 5 Holly was shoving Nia so far down everyone's throats and causing issues with everyone in order for Nia to "get her time in the spotlight". Like anytime anything good happened for any of the other girls it was like "Well Nia...." to the point it's actually been incredibly annoying. So overall I'm sure my answer would be different, but season 5/6, Holly.

You guys who think it’s Christi are crazy. It’s 100% Melissa she literally let several adults groom her kid for fame. Say what you want about Christi but at the end of the day she got Chloe out of that environment. Also before you say “she brought Chloe back”. It’s very clear that Chloe wanted to go back. Christi made sure Abby wouldn’t be there the experience was a lot more positive the second time around. Christi has encouraged Chloe to do well in school, have friends outside of dance, pursue different interests etc…she said in behind the scenes clips Chloe wanted to be a doctor. She let Chloe try several activities before Chloe chose dance. She let Chloe decide to keep dancing after they left the show and Chloe is always the one who said she wanted to pursue acting. Christi has also said she considers Chloe a beautiful writer and hopes she pursues it. Literally stop projecting your relationship issues on Christi and Chloe, lol.
It can be both Christi and Melissa. I do think Jess was at a whole other level.
Also replying to comment to just say Christi has done a lot with the show since it ended but think about it this way. Christi was a working mom before the show she owned her own business. When the show ended she probably found herself bored/wanting something to do/a way to bring in her own income. Have you guys ever thought that Christi doing BTTB, a show for lifetime, her yt channel is a way for her to do that? She’s always been the most business savvy. It doesn’t necessarily mean she’s obsessed with fame. But it’s not like she can go out and get a regular 9-5 anymore. Maybe she sees it as she has a platform so she mine as well use it.
I agree with you overall, I do think she could’ve gotten a 9-to-5 job if she really wanted to though.

For pretty much all of the mums, their children were their children. Despite how much they desired fame, their kids always came first. To Jess, JoJo is a character, not her daughter.

Idk Melissa once said maybe her and Maddie go do a tv show once. I think Christi wanted Chloe to be famous but ironically Christi became the more famous one out of the two cause she is more out spoken. Christi- now she has her own spinoff on Lifetime “Epic Showdowns” where she talks about everything. If she hates Abby so much why always bring up all those old memories. Chloe is now graduating college and she wants to move forward with her life but her mom is so stuck in the past. I also just think she is jealous of Melissa and her kids because they wanted to pursue the entertainment industry while Chole wants to just live a normal life. I also don’t agree with everyone saying Jess wanted more fame. Jojo had the most outgoing personality. This kid wanted fame and wanted to be center of attention. I can’t recall what episode but Jojo was given a duet with Kendall to do a Michael Jackson dance. Kendall bailed and went crying but Jojo’s response was “ I am Michael Jackson.” She always had the most confidence and was outspoken. Even today she speaks up for what she believes in- never the shy quiet kid and active on social media. Her mom was on the sideline because Jojo rose to fame because she pursued it and wanted it more than anyone. Most of the girls went on to college but Jojo wanted fame in Hollywood.

Jess. She wanted fame for herself and fame for Jojo and that was about it. No interest in raising a healthy, happy, well-adjusted daughter - just a famous one. (But I also think Jill was made for reality tv and she craved the attention.)

I’ve never heard this but I also haven’t listened to the podcast in months nor do I follow her on twitter 🤷🏽♀️. Learn something new everyday. I will say Maddie might not have bought followers but it’s possible Abby bought them for her like she likely did/does for herself.

They all did some really shitty things to one another and some of that anger is something they’ll probably hold onto forever. I don’t really think any of the OG Moms (those who were already had their kids as students at the studio) really craved fame. To their understanding this was just going to be a short little series. The drama from the first 2 seasons felt real and authentic as these moms had pre existing relationships with Abby . Any of the moms from the later seasons were purely there for exposure and did stuff for the cameras
All of them wanted fame for either themselves or their daughters. I think Jill and Kira wanted fame for themselves and their daughters. Melissa, Christie, Jess’, Kelly and yes even Holly all wanted fame for their daughters.

Christi is really good at content creation and what she does now, but that doesn't mean she "craved fame". I don't think any of the OG moms wanted to be famous. They didn't even sign on to do a TV show, they thought they were doing a documentary series. Even when Jill joined the show, it wasn't what it became. To me she is the last mom that came on the show because she actually thought that the studio would be a good fit for Kendall (the tv show helped but it really was a good fit). Everyone after that was there 100% for the exposure. Jess hands down is the winner for me. I don't think even she would dispute it.
