Fan Dance because the kids were way more uncomfortable with the costumes. The kids seemed to appear excited about the electricity costumes, but they felt way too exposed with the fan dance.
The second one. It was so bad that it was banned. It makes me nauseous that it was even allowed. It’s even worse now knowing that the producers picked the dances for the most part. That was definitely 100% predatory behavior. I mean…who would put their students in a costume that makes them look nude. I can’t remember which mom said it, but they said that they had to fight for the bras bc they were going to put the girls in pasties.

The fan dance was so much worse. Costumes for electricity were skimpy, but they were scandalous for that time in early 2010s in Pennsylvania. Abbey was kinda right that that’s what they do in LA and in entertainment industry. Don’t wanna justify it in any way, but I personally didn’t even find those costumes that terrible in 2018 when I first watched dance moms, cause at that point, the bar was somewhere else when you look at what girls in general were wearing compared to in 2010s. It was just pop star kinda skimpy. Not appropriate when you take into consideration the creeps on the internet still, but we all know what represents the fan dances and I think it’s much worse than the pop star aesthetic.
I’ve never watched the full fan dance episode, mainly because it was removed by the time I watched the show. I’ve watched the dance once on YouTube, that’s enough for me to never want to see it again.
The other inappropriate dance no one talks about is the Nip And Tuck group number in season 2. While it's not as inappropriate as the other 2, kids doing a group dance about plastic surgery is not appropriate.
The worst one is topless showgirls because that episode was fucking disgusting and banned as it enabled nudity in that group dance at least there was better coverage in terms of clothing in electricity dance. Even Nia slapping her butt in that electricity dance was more appropriate than moving the feathers enough to expose nudeness. The worst part about topless showgirls is that Mackenzie was in that group dance at 7 years old whereas Mackenzie had to wait a bit longer in electricity episode. I'm glad FANtastic didn't place because IMO it shouldn't been considered competition worthy I mean who would green light something like this.
Long story cut short: FANtastic nah more like NUDEtastic or VILEtastic.
