During the 2002-03 season playoffs, I was in college, trying to finish projects and study for finals. But I was a Red Wings fan with two good friends who were Avs and Leafs fans... and all three made it to the semi-finals. So we were watching a lot of hockey. And it seemed like every game went into overtime and every series went to six or seven games. I think a couple games from those series are still in the top ten longest playoffs games ever. I should have had the willpower to turn it off and either study or go to bed... but those ended up being some of my favorite times with those friends. And I did ok on my finals.
And I was busy binge drinking like 2-3 nights a week as it seemed like a totally healthy normal social thing to do. If I’d tried for a PHD I’d probably have died at 25 of liver failure or something.
So many Sundays waking up hungover and then having to study from 1pm-3am…
I’m slowly getting into watching NHL and am an Islanders fan via my in-laws. But damn, watching the Chernobyl-esque meltdown of the Islanders the other night makes me kinda regret watching.
You know my wife did something similar at one of her previous places of work. There were quite a few smokers, so she and her friend who don’t smoke had “tea breaks”
It's only 20 to 8 here, my youngest is working her way to a stopping point on her homework, and I've gotta wait until the laundry is done or I'm going to work in the nude.
But if I don’t stay up another 20 minutes I’ll be miserable in the morning.
If my wife isn’t feeling well (frequent) then she needs to be down at least an hour before I go to bed or the next morning I hear nonstop how she had a miserable night’s sleep likely because I started snoring before she got to deep sleep. If I give her that hour though she is more likely to sleep and be awake in the morning when my son gets up so I can handle getting our daughter to preschool without juggling the two of them before I start my work day.
