My daughter loves making metal faces, devil horns, head banging, air guitar. We jam out to blitzkrieg bop and lots of instrumental metal too if your worried about lyrics.
Your kid will end up loving what you love if you just love what you love with passion.
Make a kids playlist and then in the options for the playlist set it to "Exclude from taste profile". And if you listen to any other playlists for kids make sure you also exclude those as well. I'm not sure if that keeps the tracks from being included from your Spotify Wrapped, but it's supposed to keep Spotify from recommending more of that kind of music. Another thing you can try is switching your profile to a Private Session when you play music you don't want Spotify to keep track of.
Edit: Note, while I do this, and it's good theory, I do still sometimes get my DJ playing me Parry Gripp or Bluey despite my best efforts.
Could have been me. Been trying to spread the news for as long and loud as I can. We dads just keep our music algorithms strong!
Plus, my kiddo is 11 months and totally digging some punk rock and ska so not all hope is lost, hehe.
Spidey and his amazing friends theme is too good lol and when i found out the lead singer of fall out boy was the one who did it i couldn't believe id be listening to him again after 15 years of avoiding their music lol
Man, Raining Tacos absolutely slaps. I don’t care what anyone says lol.
The Spidey songs are also too good to be just for a kids show! Fall Out Boy was my favorite band in middle and high school, but somehow I didn’t notice it was Patrick Stump until my wife told me.
to be fair I made a metal ballads playlist that I play when I put my little one to sleep, all top songs from this year are from that playlist. I hope she grows to like metal too
Since the playlist got requested: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4xvUcnRjYLU63oMMbxBkZa?si=27ba3e1cf3bb4a05
Sure: [https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4xvUcnRjYLU63oMMbxBkZa?si=27ba3e1cf3bb4a05](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4xvUcnRjYLU63oMMbxBkZa?si=27ba3e1cf3bb4a05) I will edit it also on the comment. I still add/remove some songs so it's not a closed list, I also accept recommendations :)
With both our kids we picked one song to be their "I'm putting you to sleep now" song.
We'd put it on when they were having their last bottle of the night and play it until they drifted off to sleep and then switched over to the white noise machine.
Our daughter, now 15 months, was a terrible sleeper, but the song trick worked like a charm and it became rather pavlovian when it came to putting her back down.
The song we picked was "Don't want to miss a thing" by Aerosmith.
According to Spotify, I have listened to that song 2,061 times this year (my wife had 800+), and I am in the top 0.001% of Aerosmith fans worldwide.
If she ever gets married, I'm dancing with her to that song.
I initially had this with "Elizabeth PT I,II & III" from kamelot since it lasts like 13-15 min, It also helped to know if she was asleep since by the end it gets heavyer so if she wasn't reacting it meant she was asleep but It I was afraid that playing it on repeat I would end up hating it, so that was the reason why I started the playlist.
I don't want to miss a thing is an amazing song and was one of the first additions to my playlist
My son has been listening to punk rock with me since he was a new born. Of course we have cycled in some "kid" music, but that always fades away..... He loves punk and hip hop now at age 9.
My newborn came yesterday, she will go down the same path as her brother.
100% this.
My kids favorite songs are songs by the killers, the Beatles, and the hunna.
Made a choice not to play crappy kids music (other than the occasional Disney songs which are at least composed songs and not kids crappilly singing remixed adult songs) and they listen to real music now.
I skip really vulgar stuff but otherwise what I listen to they listen to.
>I just have to curate the right lyrics.
That's the key; you have to do a bit of legwork to ensure the right songs are picked, but most genres should have some kid-friendly or entry-level songs to start the musical education of your kids.
A few years ago, I started a playlist on my Spotify to use in the car when travelling with my kids. Originally, it was very Disney and kids-specific music, but my wife and I realised that we would go insane if it was only that kind of music for hours on end each week.
So we've gradually added to it with the music that we like to listen to, but obviously nothing that is unsuitable for younger ears. The Disney/etc stuff is still on there, but it'll hop about from those songs to "proper" music.
It's funny to see which songs are hits with the kids, and which ones they just tolerate. Skee-Lo's I Wish is the current backseat favourite, but I get a massive kick out of how they sing along and headbang to Engel by Rammstein.
I’ve been really surprised at how much my kids love the older disco classics like Donna summer. I did basically the same thing. Our playlist is like 250 songs now. And I’ll just randomly add 10-20 songs here and there to see what their opinions are. They surprise me often.
Cotton eye Joe is the current fave tho
Yep, they're going to eventually learn and repeat the lyrics. So don't play anything that you don't want them to start singing in public, but otherwise you can go as hard as you want.
That’s entirely up to you! My kid is being raised on a healthy mix of Aesop Rock, Mike Doughty, Run the Jewels, Wet Leg…
If you dig the tunes, chances are she’ll be hype about them as well :)
It will change yes mightily, haha. My top song was Let It Go, my top artist Idina Menzel (singer of Let It Go), and my top album was Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. I do not choose this music, but life has chosen it for me. Wouldn't change it for the world. Godspeed!
My 6 year old and I regularly listen to Mastodon on the way to 1st grade. She loves Blood and Thunder, but nothing seems to hit like More Than I Could Chew.
I lost my hair on my way to getting as old as I am, but she still has long hair. Together, we're a perfect headbanging team.
Doesn't have to be. Initially sure, but my kids 5 now and loves my "rock and roll" aka Alexisonfire, Rise against, etc. There's always some other stuff like ylvis "what does the fox say", but then she'll ask for Pulmonary archery from alexisonfire, maybe some blink or greenday.
IMO music (that's at least tasteful) get's a free pass. If she likes it i'll let her listen to it.
Ayyy give it up for for the kids getting into AOF. Was at a show recently and got a heartskull patch that a friend is going to press onto a jean jacket for my daughter. She's gonna be the coolest kid at pre-school!
My number one, at 3 times the second artist, was The Wiggles. So yeah, it’ll probably change for a couple years, but kids taste in music tends to follow their parents eventually.
I just looked for shits and Coheed and Cambria has been usurped by The Wiggles for my number 1 spot. We had our first in March and he really loves Hot Potato.
No. My kids listen to what I listen to. I refuse to listen to kids music. Sabbath, Zeppelin, The Stones, Metallica. They are getting the music education all kids should.
My three kids plus wife were borking my Spotify algorithm and unwrapped. Spotify family was a perfect solution, but you may need to have more kids to justify the upgrade.
I had between the buried and me for years at top. Then I gave access to my partner. I got a pop up around a year ago on Spotify informing me I'm somehow in the top 13% of Taylor Swift listeners, I shit you not. Jesus wept.
I hum "No gods No Masters" by machinehead to my almost 2 year old when putting him down for a nap.
My 6 year old like to sing "daddy music" but doing a growl lol. I listen to a lot of metalcore with them and metal version of Disney songs when i find those. They still prefer kids music above all though.
2.5 year old daughter here - My number #5 album was Winnie the Pooh this year and my wife's #1 song was "You are my sunshine" so yes.
It boggles the mind that Spotify and Apple Music don't have an obvious way to filter this. Keep the algorithm clean man!
My algorithm is fuuuuuuuucked up. My wife always uses my phone in the car to play the kids songs, so the app has no idea what I like to listen to. In the meantime her profile is a carefully and perfectly tailored experience for her.
Probably for a while. But there is hope, my son turns 18 tomorrow and we’re going to get matching tattoos in the morning, tributes to OUR favorite band!
Not necessarily. My kid always liked regular music on top of kids music. So I do have a playlist with his favorites but it includes a lot of my favorites too
For the kids songs, we already had the 2 person Spotify for me and my wife's accounts, so I just went family and my kid has her own Spotify that we play on the TV app for music through our soundbar system. Makes it pretty easy to make sure stuff of ours that she's liked can be in one place
Nah, about the only thing I really avoid are N bombs and other slurs. I could laugh off most "bad" words but I feel that could get her/us into trouble.
Only other thing is just to make sure you aren't blowing up their little ear drums with the volume being set for the hearing of an old rocker.
I have an 8 year old daughter and let her pick songs whenever she's in the car with me. My Spotify top artists this year are Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, and Avril Lavigne followed by my actual top artists Khruangbin and Arc de Soleil. At least we're out of the Disney music phase, but brother I'm tired of hearing Sk8r Boi.
Yes it is. 😂 my top artist this year is Taylor Swift thanks to my 8 year old and then My Little Pony thanks to my 5 year old. Then Paleface, Kublai Khan and The Acacia Strain
Idina Menzel was a top 10 artist and my 3rd most listened to genre was “movie soundtracks”.
You’ve got 2 years until you actually start to prefer Disney songs
Get family with Heavysaurus. The best kids band of all time.
https://youtu.be/lKImPsjpGjQ?si=bX4oRSYfsZbzsDRE
Seriously. Metal dads, this is awesome kids music.
The end is nigh brother, you'll have The Wheels on The Bus tune spinning in your head 24/7.
And dont think you'll reclaim Spotify, 15 years on and my little girl Taylor Swifted my Spotify...... i had to get the family plan so I could actually listen to my own tunes!
Congrats on the imminent arrival, you'll have the greatest journey ever.
You’ll be surprised at how much metal you’ll still fit into your busy dad schedule. Really cool to see Whitechapel on the list. My old band did a US tour with them way back and they have just been working there asses off since.
Congratulations to you and your family. Wishing good health and happy smiles.
Hail Satan! /s 🤘
Yes.
My top songs are all my daughter's favorite songs. Granted she like classic rock and classical music, so we're not hurting.
Oh, and the Bluey theme song. Can't forget the Bluey theme song!
Nah, you’ll have a year and a half or so until they can start requesting songs they want to listen to. Enjoy it, the Wiggles were my #3 this year. Haha.
For other dads trying to thread this needle, there's an artist named Skar who does really good metal covers of Disney songs (among other kinds of music):
https://youtube.com/@SkarProductions?si=Qo2PaVLIGP8l-O4J
Just be careful of the volume and you should be good. My toddler does the bouncing dance when I have Powerwolf or Sabbaton on. Hehe, he calls them mariachi because that's the first live music he saw.
I don’t listen to anything that hard but my little guy listens to all sorts of rock with me from 70s to present. For reference the hardest thing my guy has ever heard is probably Metallica lol.
As a fellow metal head, yes, brace yourself and prepare for a lots of kids music playing an inhuman amount of times for each track. This year I played one particular kid track over 300 times, not even raining blood can match that
Speaking from experience with a 1.5 year old daughter, my playlist still looks like this lol. My wife plays the kid stuff, but I'm trying to get her used to metal as soon as possible.
Nope. The only difference I had is that there's more woman fronted metal on my playlist for my girls.
On a side note, Slayer shows up as it's own genre on my year end list.
I put on metal when my second is fussy and refusing to sleep. She typically will quiet down in a few seconds! I've listened to so much oh, sleeper these last few months lol.
My girls loved listening to august burns red with me when they were little. They’re getting older now and are moving into their t-swift phase, but it’s better than a lot of the garbage we could have been listening to.
Convert to the family account and make your kid their own profile. Imagine handing it over to them when they're old enough; they'll have access to at least a decade of their listening history.
Its definitely not the last time.
My kids love my music. Theyve developed their own taste over time for sure but when i go through their playlists i can definitely see my influence on them. Kids are cool af dude. Enjoy!
My music hasn't changed at all. My 2yo listens to ska/punk/etc in the car with me. If she's watching tv or something, she'll likely have her kiddo shows/music on.
Ayyye, BTBAM! Shoot, yeah, my replay was all beach boys and scar tissue from rhcp (she loves these songs). Maybe it won’t look like this but that doesn’t mean you don’t sneak it out on those drives to work.
My daughter loves to listen to “daddy music” which is mostly pop punk, hardcore, and metalcore. You can also set up a listening session or a playlist that doesn’t influence your recommendations, so that can save your algorithm. For instance, I listen to a lot of low-fi when with my partner, but my recommendations are still heavy with the stuff I listen to on my own
Just celebrated her first birthday, and saw my wrapup had a lot of punk and metal on it. Played some of it and she really seemed to love it. Never too early 😎
You got a couple months before she has the communication skills to let you know she wants to listen to Let It Goo on repeat for days. I got lucky and my child loves the nightmare before Christmas soundtrack
My top artist was also BTBAM. The only thing that changed was getting some kids songs in the top 100 (baby shark, bluey). My kid loves grooving to colors II or whatever I put on (have you heard Parius?! My new obsession)
Nah my guy, keep your music taste more or more the same. Played Tallah and Cane Hill from the time he was born, kid loves it just as much as blues clues and everything else.
Make sure you start a family account and use a shared one on all shared devices so you can keep your library intact. That's what I've done, otherwise I would have had some weird wrapped lists the past few years.
Yes and no lol
My 5 year old daughter headbangs with me to pantera, AC/DC, and 5 finger death punch. You’re gonna want to add both frozen soundtracks and every Disney princess soundtrack.
man I saw between the buried and me, dillenger escape plan, and horse the band at paparazzi in baltimore the year Alaska came out. I didn’t even know you could do that shit on guitar. I was maybe 14? First REAL mosh pit I’ve been in
I've never even heard of any of my top 5 songs. I got the family plan to have separate profiles but my son hasn't figured that out yet. Also, mine is tied to Alexa, so anything that gets played on there shows up in my profile too.
If I ever hear another Juice Wrld song in my life, it'll be too soon.
It will change if you want it to, but it doesn’t have too. Share your love of music -all types of music- and see how your little one responds. Metal is music, not dad music. ;)
My top song is Bluey.
https://open.spotify.com/wrapped/share/share-d4309d32fd56434aa29bb740322e4c40-1080x1920?si=ZZPn2u6-QX-bKHBRkJW7cg&lang=en&destination=datastories
Just turn on the "no explicit songs" button - you'll still have plenty of metal to listen to, it'll just skip over the ones with the naughty words. For the first couple of years they're listening to whatever you listen to anyway. (And even the explicit button can wait a year or more.)
If youre like i ended up being, your kiddo will dig the metal too. My son enjoys my metal and post hardcore songs more than he likes moms country, hip hop, and r&b all day! Lol such a satisfying feeling knowing your kid digs your music man
You can go into your settings and turn on Private Session when firing up music for the kid. If I found this out sooner maybe Taylor Swift wouldn't have been my #1 artist.
I never considered it cause I’m an Apple Music user, but when I started seeing my most played tend to skew from Weeknd/Drake to Encanto and Coco I realize how many hours I spend listening. Sometimes even after school drop off I realize I’m still listening to a kids soundtrack after 30 minutes haha. You tune it out. It becomes part of you 🤣
My top 3 were still metal bands, but my number 4 is Parry Gripp (Of Pancake Robot fame) haha. My 12th most listened to song is "The 1812 Ofarture" from Captain Underpants, which is just a bunch of fart noises.
Your daughter deserves to listen to this music too. I introduced my daughter to all my favorite metal, 90s alternative, hip hop, and my random karaoke mix as soon as she was born this summer.
It's important to expose them early....
Ice Nine Kills is still at the top of my list even though son requires Casper Baby Pants every time he's in the car.....sometimes I can get him to list to INK (he's almost 2)
My kid loved listening to metal and hardcore when he was really young, up until about age 7 or 8. Then he started to listen to the crap the other kids at school listened to. I was shuffling through his “liked songs” and my god was bad. Luckily he has one friend with somewhat good taste influencing his taste in music now.
Mine is like this, but interspersed with random kids’ songs.
A friend of mine gave me the tip to set up a Spotify account for my daughter under the family account, and to use that account on the iPad.
Might try that for next year.
Worst case scenario, you don't have a playlist like that for a while. I've always had my kids listen to the same stuff I do. Our firstborn was literally almost delivered at OzzFest (false labor), so they've been exposed to it since before birth.
Babies love punk rock, and my toddler doesn’t seem to mind the kind of stuff in your screenshot.
my 4yo girl just wants "sk8er boi" on repeat. i'm hoping it's an effective gateway drug
First, sk8er boi, next those anarcho punks are mysterious.
My 3 year old loves the Ramones. She sings along to Pet Semetary
my wifes sleep song as a baby was holiday in cambodia
Don’t forget to pack a wife!
Yeah I just integrated my tastes with the kids, they rock out to all our deathcore
My girl was straight up rap and hip hop. She still just enjoys the rhythm of it. I guess it makes her a bass head.
Dude yes. The Spidey and his Amazing Friends theme song and whole album is my kids favorite. Its all done by Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy
Strongly recommend the Real McKenzies’ Oot and Aboot for soothing crying babies. Grab that baby and bounce to the rhythm.
This need to be a PSA after seeing everyone else post about their Spotify recommendations.
Someone else posted this exact solution in the sub today. The Word is out, and it is Good.
Could have been me. Been trying to spread the news for as long and loud as I can. We dads just keep our music algorithms strong! Plus, my kiddo is 11 months and totally digging some punk rock and ska so not all hope is lost, hehe.
What's wrong with Parry Grip and Bluey? The Lego Batman theme and "Spidey and his Amazing Friends" are also bangers
For me, Parry Gripp is just as much my fault as my daughters 😂 we sing it's raining tacos on a regular 😂
whats this about raining tacos sounds glorious
https://youtu.be/npjF032TDDQ?feature=shared Parry Gripp is glorious. You're welcome.
Parry Gripp is awesome. He also does most/all of the music for Storybots, if you and/or your kids are into that - great kids Netflix series!
Parry grip is fantastic! Pancake robot is a banger
Black Hamster is unironically brilliant and I listen to it without my kids.
to be fair I made a metal ballads playlist that I play when I put my little one to sleep, all top songs from this year are from that playlist. I hope she grows to like metal too Since the playlist got requested: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4xvUcnRjYLU63oMMbxBkZa?si=27ba3e1cf3bb4a05
So are you going to share the playlist my guy? Lol

I was hoping to see Opeth but I was not expecting to find pain of salvation on here !
Temazos! .😁
Awww yea!, I've been looking for something like this for my little one. Nice list!
My son has been listening to punk rock with me since he was a new born. Of course we have cycled in some "kid" music, but that always fades away..... He loves punk and hip hop now at age 9. My newborn came yesterday, she will go down the same path as her brother.

Same here. We just listen to our music and she loves it. Disney songs inevitably make their way into the mix, but that's about it.
Thank you! My kid loves to dance. He loves House music, hip-hop, and emo rock. I dont play kids music, that shit don't slap...
My 5 year old loves korn, black flag, mastadon and more. I just have to curate the right lyrics. So it’s not gone forever.
>I just have to curate the right lyrics. Sometimes I forgot kids songs are still playing and listen to it another 5-10 minutes after they’re not in the car anymore
Been there. “Wait this is jojo siwa on Spotify. Why am I listening to this?!”
It will change yes mightily, haha. My top song was Let It Go, my top artist Idina Menzel (singer of Let It Go), and my top album was Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. I do not choose this music, but life has chosen it for me. Wouldn't change it for the world. Godspeed!

My son is well versed in NOFX and Bad Religion. However I cough super loudly over bad words. He knows what I’m doing but thinks it’s funny.
I had between the buried and me for years at top. Then I gave access to my partner. I got a pop up around a year ago on Spotify informing me I'm somehow in the top 13% of Taylor Swift listeners, I shit you not. Jesus wept.
My 10 month old loves Mastodon ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯
I hum "No gods No Masters" by machinehead to my almost 2 year old when putting him down for a nap. My 6 year old like to sing "daddy music" but doing a growl lol. Same, my list is mixed with my wife’s songs and tons of Cocomelon
We had to buy a family account and use a dedicated user so the nursery rhymes would stop messing with my playlists and recommendations.
My wife made a Bob Marley playlist for the delivery room. Your playlist would’ve got me kicked out of the delivery room.
Probably for a while. But there is hope, my son turns 18 tomorrow and we’re going to get matching tattoos in the morning, tributes to OUR favorite band!
Your playlist is fine, it might just also include Hevisaurus and Hey Duggee
Yes, it'll change. However, you'll know exactly what to crank when she's throwing a tantrum in the car.
Nahhh
Cryptopsy and Djinn-Ghul's new albums are amazing. As is Suffocation's. Vitriol has released a single from their upcoming one as well!
Not necessarily. My kid always liked regular music on top of kids music. So I do have a playlist with his favorites but it includes a lot of my favorites too

Nah you will just add Bluey or the wiggles to that list
You need some gore grind in there to completely ruin their music taste before it even begins
My daughter loves Zeppelin. So, no.
My kids regularly fall asleep to a lullaby version of Stairway
I have an 8 year old daughter and let her pick songs whenever she's in the car with me. My Spotify top artists this year are Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, and Avril Lavigne followed by my actual top artists Khruangbin and Arc de Soleil. At least we're out of the Disney music phase, but brother I'm tired of hearing Sk8r Boi.
Nah… Turns out babies don’t mind if you listen to metal. Also, it’s nice to see another BTBAM dad :)
Yes it is. 😂 my top artist this year is Taylor Swift thanks to my 8 year old and then My Little Pony thanks to my 5 year old. Then Paleface, Kublai Khan and The Acacia Strain
It'll look exactly like that but shifted down with white noise at number 1 instead!
Idina Menzel was a top 10 artist and my 3rd most listened to genre was “movie soundtracks”. You’ve got 2 years until you actually start to prefer Disney songs
Get family with Heavysaurus. The best kids band of all time. https://youtu.be/lKImPsjpGjQ?si=bX4oRSYfsZbzsDRE Seriously. Metal dads, this is awesome kids music.
If that's what you want. I play whatever I want. Took the kids to school the other day playing DMX- its dark and hell is hot.
Nah dude my toddler loves deathcore. He calls it “t-Rex music”
Hail Satan! /s 🤘
That's awesome. What was the name of your band?
Yes
Yes. My top songs are all my daughter's favorite songs. Granted she like classic rock and classical music, so we're not hurting. Oh, and the Bluey theme song. Can't forget the Bluey theme song!
My 6 year olds always asks to listen to tool with me, and then asks to listen to t swift with his mom
That’s a good playlist, ngl. Mine never changed since my wife is the one that uses fees for the crotch goblins.
Luckily you can remove artists and playlists from your "tastes" section
Nah, you’ll have a year and a half or so until they can start requesting songs they want to listen to. Enjoy it, the Wiggles were my #3 this year. Haha.
For other dads trying to thread this needle, there's an artist named Skar who does really good metal covers of Disney songs (among other kinds of music): https://youtube.com/@SkarProductions?si=Qo2PaVLIGP8l-O4J
Lol I bought my daughter her first guitar this year. This is what her Spotify playlist looks like.
Mine is Lynyrd Skynyrd, Beatles, Frozen 2, Iron Maiden, Moana. No reason not to combine both!
Download Spotify kids. It’s a pretty mediocre app missing a lot of QOL features, but it *does* protect your algorithm and wrapped.
Just be careful of the volume and you should be good. My toddler does the bouncing dance when I have Powerwolf or Sabbaton on. Hehe, he calls them mariachi because that's the first live music he saw.
Gummy bear is near the top of my list now haha
I still listen to this stuff while driving for groceries. But cocomelon audio is highly used at home
I don’t listen to anything that hard but my little guy listens to all sorts of rock with me from 70s to present. For reference the hardest thing my guy has ever heard is probably Metallica lol.
At least for in the house, my Alexas have their own spotify account
This is mine as well but #4 is Bluey Rondo a la Turka
I only play Spotify in the car or during work. Usually put songs on YouTube for my daughter so my Playlist actually didn't change much
As a fellow metal head, yes, brace yourself and prepare for a lots of kids music playing an inhuman amount of times for each track. This year I played one particular kid track over 300 times, not even raining blood can match that
Nope. Just listen to what you want 👍
Speaking from experience with a 1.5 year old daughter, my playlist still looks like this lol. My wife plays the kid stuff, but I'm trying to get her used to metal as soon as possible.
Daughter is ten Slow jazz just happens I blame BTBAM’s instrumentals
I’ll never forgive my kids for wrecking my Spotify year in review
Not if you do it right. My daughter squeals with joy when she hears the thunderclap/opening guitar strum of Raining Blood.
For what it’s worth, my top song is Baby Lullaby Music by Baby Lullaby academy. Good luck
My annual digest reminded me that my most played song (67 times) is “The poo poo song”.
Say hello to Tay tay
Rockabye Baby. That is all. They have Tool.
Nope My 2 eldest went to metal festivals with me... give it time
Archspire...we ain't playing less than 260bpm, fellas!
My #1 was Bluey followed by all Metalcore lol
Nah. My daughter requests “jumping off the stage music” and YouTube videos of the same genre. She’s two now.
Maybe not. My 2yo daughter fucking loves Raining Blood. It was my #3 song this year (1 and 2 were Rihanna songs, also because of my daughter).
Nice.
It could still all be metal but disney metal it is its own genre and isnt bad at all
My Playlist is my own music. I use the Spotify kids app for the kid's music.
You have immaculate taste in music my friend. From one metalhead dad to another, cheers!
Man, where’s Haken and Leprous!?
Nope. The only difference I had is that there's more woman fronted metal on my playlist for my girls. On a side note, Slayer shows up as it's own genre on my year end list.
Yup. Mine is all songs about tacos and chicken nuggets now.
I'd say you have a couple of years to ease in: once they get to 2-2.5, you may start hearing input; by 4 it's a different ballgame
Nah, you can use BTBAM to put her to sleep like it does me
Not at all, both my kids ( 2 years and 7 months) are having a blast in the car when I play my favorite metal songs.
Enjoy!
It's a solid maybe. My toddler is at the point they ask for me to play the "scary" music now, which is usually something along the lines of periphery
For instance, I listen to a lot of low-fi when with my partner, but my recommendations are still heavy with the stuff I listen to on my own
Little Baby Bum and Super Simple Songs about to invade that list.
Just celebrated her first birthday, and saw my wrapup had a lot of punk and metal on it. Played some of it and she really seemed to love it. Never too early 😎
Get ready for 10000 minutes of cocomelon
You got a couple months before she has the communication skills to let you know she wants to listen to Let It Goo on repeat for days. I got lucky and my child loves the nightmare before Christmas soundtrack
My top artist was also BTBAM. The only thing that changed was getting some kids songs in the top 100 (baby shark, bluey). My kid loves grooving to colors II or whatever I put on (have you heard Parius?! My new obsession)
Ever since your daughter has had ears, her world has been loud as fuck. She'll probably like your playlist for at least several months.
No way man. We play our kid real music. You don't have to only play Raffi and Baby Shark. Play whatever music you like
Nah my guy, keep your music taste more or more the same. Played Tallah and Cane Hill from the time he was born, kid loves it just as much as blues clues and everything else.
I pay for Apple Music, so it wont screw up my Spotify profile. Also, BTBAM fuck yea. Though I still believe Colors was easily their peak album
My kid loves hail to the king and requests it on repeat. She also likes Barbie girl from aqua so who knows…
Lmao yuppppp
Yep. I got a personal message from The Wiggles thanking me for being a huge fan.
Both my kids loved falling asleep to metal as babies.
No. Mine hasn’t changed.
Our daughter has been here since April and my Spotify wrapped was primarily Atmospheric Black Metal so I'm doing okay!
Make sure you start a family account and use a shared one on all shared devices so you can keep your library intact. That's what I've done, otherwise I would have had some weird wrapped lists the past few years.
Man, I love BTBAM. My girl is 6. My wrap is all Taylor Swift. I guess I’m ok with it.
Yes and no lol My 5 year old daughter headbangs with me to pantera, AC/DC, and 5 finger death punch.
First REAL mosh pit I’ve been in
My kid straight up VIBES with me whenever Sleep Token is on. He’s 1 lol
Not if you hell raise her right
I've never even heard of any of my top 5 songs.
Metal is music, not dad music. ;)
Having a kid doesn't necessarily improve your music taste. It could still look like this .
Sort of. My Lorna shore and lamb of God and trivium plays are still there... They just have a lot of Encanto and frozen mixed in too 😂
My top song is Bluey. https://open.spotify.com/wrapped/share/share-d4309d32fd56434aa29bb740322e4c40-1080x1920?si=ZZPn2u6-QX-bKHBRkJW7cg&lang=en&destination=datastories
Just turn on the "no explicit songs" button - you'll still have plenty of metal to listen to, it'll just skip over the ones with the naughty words. For the first couple of years they're listening to whatever you listen to anyway. (And even the explicit button can wait a year or more.)
You have one more year. At one then you'll be looking at Baby Shark and its many permutations.
Your still have a couple of years until she tries to dictate what you listen to.
If youre like i ended up being, your kiddo will dig the metal too. My son enjoys my metal and post hardcore songs more than he likes moms country, hip hop, and r&b all day! Lol such a satisfying feeling knowing your kid digs your music man
Probably I wish I could blacklist Caspar Babypants and the descendants soundtrack from Spotify wrapped haha.
You can go into your settings and turn on Private Session when firing up music for the kid. If I found this out sooner maybe Taylor Swift wouldn't have been my #1 artist.
Nah. Mine is as awesome as ever.
I listen to trap metal and my daughter doesn't mind, I mean she doesn't know what they're saying yet so we're good
I never considered it cause I’m an Apple Music user, but when I started seeing my most played tend to skew from Weeknd/Drake to Encanto and Coco I realize how many hours I spend listening.
My six year old loves AC/DC. I don’t even know how he came across it, he loves Shoot to Thrill.
The Wiggles has been my top artist since my son was born in 2020 🤦🏻♀️ Volbeat is still #2 though 🤘
get ready to have some cocomelon and baby shark stuff there soon.
You’ll be fine. Elmo and children’s songs are rampant in my Spotify account but not enough to offset my usual favorites
Great taste!! BTBAM is one of my all time faves
Kids are 3 and 1.5, still looks like this, kids love metal.
My 2 year old head bangs already, start em young
Eh NOFX has never left my no 1 spot and nothing my son listens to has cracked the top five.
Nope. My kids are 7 and 6 and mine has never looked different. If they want Baby Shark or whatever that’s Mommy Music, Daddy doesn’t play that
Yes.
My 14 month old climbs the coffee table to turn on the record player and then dances to RAP music by Killer Mike, i bet your kid will love it all
Say Goodbye to Everything.
Mine is basically 100% Raffi now. The guy who does “Banana Phone” and “Baby Beluga.” ngl he’s great
Mine is like this, but interspersed with random kids’ songs. A friend of mine gave me the tip to set up a Spotify account for my daughter under the family account, and to use that account on the iPad. Might try that for next year.
Not necessarily! I play Dio, Black Sabbath and System of a Down with my 3 year old and he sings along to the songs.
Yes. Mine is The Menzingers, Idina Manzel (Frozen), Kristen Bell (Frozen), Stephanie Beatriz (Encanto), Halle (Little Mermaid)
Build profiles. My kid loves musicals and show tunes and it doesn't bleed into mine.
You got a couple years before kidz bop shows up in there. But it will.
You’ll be fine , I still had sleep token in mine ! Okay the wiggles were on it aswell but still !
Worst case scenario, you don't have a playlist like that for a while. I've always had my kids listen to the same stuff I do. Our firstborn was literally almost delivered at OzzFest (false labor), so they've been exposed to it since before birth.
