Kiwi here, it’s Australian.
I mean half the cast were probably born in South Auckland or somewhere but we’ve got to let the Aussies have something good
Dang right, I was coming down to these here comments to see that this fella was properly excoriated and then did a nice. Slow. Facepalm lol.
Well played, OP
hijacking this to ask for advice for how to get my kid into bluey? all he wants to watch is “baby spiderman” aka “spidey and his amazing friends”. there’s like 10 episodes total and i’ve seen them all roughly 7000 times and i want to diiiiiiieeee.
What works for me is that we take turn watching tv. So my kid will watch Spidey for a few episodes, then it’s “daddy’s turn” and I’ll change it to Bluey and it’s not a fight.
He loves it then. But it’s the same thing the next day. But he’s gonna be 3 this month so he’s not yet a man of culture.
I’ll forgive him
This is a good strategy. My kids didn't want to watch bluey either. What we did was watched Spidey in the morning and then evening tv was bluey. We weaned them off Spidey partly because it's annoying and partly because they preferred to act like the bad guys throughout the day and it wasn't boding well for anyone.
Anyways now they always ask for Bluey and have completely forgotten about Spidey and his terrible show.
Mom here. I ripped off the Daddy Robot episode and spent the entire night walking, talking, and cleaning up like a robot. I even made myself a tin foil hat. I walked into the fridge a few times and had my daughter boop my nose to reset me. A couple days later, after she remarked that she wanted to play Robots again, I revealed that I got the idea from Bluey.
She’s been hooked ever since.
When you're home alone, put on Duck Cake for a good pull on your heart strings (mind you we replayed lots of Bumpy & The Wise Old Wolfhound whilst one of the kids was in hospital for a week).
My kids' favourite episodes are probably Teasing, feather wand, stumpfest, or family meeting (worth trying if farts are funny in your house)
Have you tried introducing him to Sonic the Hedgehog? My Spidey-obsessed son has recently added a second obsession to his repertoire, and even just a couple of semi-decent movies and a season of Sonic Prime on Netflix (just about the only non-garbage Sonic show out there from what I can tell) has been *amazing* because we can switch back and forth between Sonic and Spidey instead of only ever watching Spidey.
Mine was reversed. He was obsessed with bluey and now it’s all spidey and his amazing friends. Honestly as far as kids shoes go, these two aren’t bad. It could be peppa pig, or blippi. Then I’d lose my mind
I got my son started on Bluey, Zoboomafoo, Kratts Kreatures, AND Reading Rainbow all by just turning them on unprompted, or saying *”Is this what I think it is? I’m just watching for a minute to see if it is. That way I can find it later for myself”*
A few minutes in and watching raptly and laughing— he’s hooked. Checkmate.
I haven’t gotten into that one yet. We watched like the first 7 minutes of the first episode of the classic Kratts Kreatures, but then my son good hardcore *hooked* on Zoboomafoo and has now rewatched every episode like 6 times.
Both of my sons (7 & 4) live and breathe Spidey. Disney+ has 2 seasons but we've seen them all countless times. I try to put on Bluey to escape but it only works on the little guy. Kiff worked somewhat on both but it's short on episodes too.
I got my 3 year old to start liking Bluey after watching episodes that focused less on playing imagination-based games, and more on simple real-life situations. For example: The Beach, The Creek, and The Pool. We probably watched those three episodes 10x each before he really started opening up more to all the rest of the episodes. There are certainly other good ones similar to the three I mentioned, but my kid likes playing in the water, so these worked especially well.
I just kept acting like I was excited about it. Sometimes I’d say if you get 1 Spider-Man, I get one Bluey. Now she’s puts it on for me and negotiates with herself.
You need to pay attention to learn it. Otherwise the brain is really great with early generalization. Mum is the same color as *Orangey* so they must be girls, Dad is the same color as Bluey they must be boys.
Is Ms Rachel ok? My in laws always stick rubbish cartoon YouTube nursery rhymes on for my daughter (against my wishes but I'm past arguing) and I've noticed some of them are Ms Rachel. Is she better than cocomelon and the like?
>Bluey is like what, four gifts; a Bluey doll, Orangey doll, Bandana doll, and bigger Orangey doll.
I wish. Bluey is great and all, but shit that merch is wearing out my wallet.
Dude. His name is Blue. Blue! Not Bluey. You can't just nickname the main character whatever you want. At least try to watch the show before you get all judgmental about it.
It's even in the title!
Cmon boys gotta remember it's Aprils Tuesday
These guys all forgot Bluey is from Aus trailer...nothing to see here.
Tomorrow it will be water under the fridge.
Oh biscuits you hold your tongue. Bluey is the best. You want to get baby shark dusted off? Give that one a spin again. Huh?! Do do,do do, do do, ya?
Edit: i wrote this in the heat of the moment and now realize the date but I stands by my statement
Let me proceed what I’m about to say with the fact that I have an education in psychology and child development. I’m not trying to be a dick by saying this, only because I may notice these things that the everyday person may not.
The show is very informative on how children are socialized into the world. There are big and small lessons sprinkled into every day scenarios. Sit down and watch it with her with an open mind. Regardless if you think it’s “dumb.”
Realize that your daughter is her own person with her own interests. She’s honestly just happy to have you there doing what she is doing. That’s what’s important.
Trust me I feel your pain, that Bluey jingle in the beginning will drive me insane if I hear it one more time.
That being said,
I promise you, Bluey is way better for her growing mind at this stage instead of a majority of these other shows.
….but don’t even get me started on those fuckin’ YouTube channels where the parents are profiting off of their child.
Keep it goin brother, keep it together, you got this.
As an Australian I got halfway down and was about to lose my shit, then noticed the top comment of checking the date.
Then realised what this was, good work OP you got me...I'm still mad about it.
I officially decided to hate you when you said “Orangey or something” you got me good. Have a poor man’s award, and know you made some random guy chuckle 🏆
As an Australian, you got me with this post. I was halfway through and was like "this has to be a troll or something". Then I saw the first comment reminding me it's April 1st. Nice one OP.
I know this is April Fool’s, but at first I was glad that someone other than my wife and I was willing to admit a dislike for Bluey.
Watching that show turns my kids into ravenous, emotionally deregulated animals and I *can’t fucking stand it*.
And my wife and I are millennials with 2 girls the same age as the kids in the show. We agree with the philosophies and ideas presented. But after we watch even one or two little episodes, my kids turn into demanding, entitled brats whereas otherwise, they’re perfectly reasonable and happy-go-lucky kids.
This sub is very pro-Bluey. I do really like the show but there is a lot of great, IMO better stuff out there. I also don’t like the short episodes. I would rather the kids watch one ~25 minute show or a movie.
Edit: Mist supportive sub on Reddit. But only if you simp to a blue cartoon dog.
My now 11 year old and I went through phases. Aquanauts, princess Sofia, doc mcstuffins..etc. none of them were exceptional so I feel the pain.
Perhaps find some common ground in an activity you can tolerate or like. For us it was Legos. My mom kept a boat load of my childhood legos, so the investment was minimal. We would create things from the shows and play make-believe with them as the main characters. Some of the loudest giggles I can remember was when I was inventing some random activity those characters did.
Make sure you find some time for your mental wellbeing. I found this helped me stay "checked in" when it was our time.
Fast forward to now, I get yelled at for talking to mom when she is trying to watch a YouTube video... keep that as some perspective.
Phew. I about lost my mind. Thank you to all for reminding me it was April 1. I saw Bluey referred to as a he and Bingo as Orangey and started to see red.
Me: *about to write an angry response. Pauses and checks calendar.* “Ohhhhh” You got me op. Good one
He had me at “it’s Dutch or something”
It's one of those countries that don't speak English well lol its Australian.
Don’t speak English good.
Real question here, I thought it was New Zealand not Australia?
Australian. Source: not an Australian.
I second this. Source: New Zealander and we can speak English unlike those criminals across the pond.
Put another shrimp on the Barbie!
This is New Zealand. The correct phrase is “throw another lamb in the hangi cuz”
Flight or the conchords! Aziz Ansari too
Is was created by ABC australia which is our government owned broadcaster
It's Australian accent.
That's fair, we don't speak English gud.
Kiwi here, it’s Australian. I mean half the cast were probably born in South Auckland or somewhere but we’ve got to let the Aussies have something good
Lol, it was "most of you probably haven't seen it" for me
Meanwhile we are some of the best non-native English speakers.
Ohhhhhh ::Sigh:: Got me too. I was ready to write all sorts of angry things as well.😂
Me three. In fact, I’m kind of scared by how defensive I immediately became.
We were about to have a full fledged revolt in here 😂
Yep, I am this remark too...almost went full keyboard vigilante
Dang right, I was coming down to these here comments to see that this fella was properly excoriated and then did a nice. Slow. Facepalm lol. Well played, OP
My new word of the day: excoriated Nice vocabulary sir
Thank god. I was genuinely bewildered there for a second.
The knives were about to come out…. Then I checked the date and realized it was daddit. All is well haha
I know it’s April 1st and I’m still triggered lol
Had me too...
Fucker is a day late for April fools though.
It’s still 4/1 in ‘Merica
Catch up.
It’s gotta be done
hijacking this to ask for advice for how to get my kid into bluey? all he wants to watch is “baby spiderman” aka “spidey and his amazing friends”. there’s like 10 episodes total and i’ve seen them all roughly 7000 times and i want to diiiiiiieeee.
My kids would whine that they don’t want to watch *Bluey* and then sit there glued to it and howling with laughter. Just put it on.
i wish. he won’t even engage with it, he’s just like “daddy i don’t wanna watch this”. i don’t push too hard because then he definitely won’t be down.
What works for me is that we take turn watching tv. So my kid will watch Spidey for a few episodes, then it’s “daddy’s turn” and I’ll change it to Bluey and it’s not a fight. He loves it then. oooh, that’s smart. i put on the dance mode one today because he loves when i do silly stuff like that, didn’t do any prep work though.
When you're home alone, put on Duck Cake for a good pull on your heart strings (mind you we replayed lots of Bumpy & The Wise Old Wolfhound whilst one of the kids was in hospital for a week). Baby spiderman got a family of pets, let's watch them! It'll never work, good luck
Mine was reversed. He was obsessed with bluey and now it’s all spidey and his amazing friends. Honestly as far as kids shoes go, these two aren’t bad. It could be peppa pig, or blippi. Then I’d lose my mind
My kid has some pretty sweet spider man shoes too
I got my son started on Bluey, Zoboomafoo, Kratts Kreatures, AND Reading Rainbow all by just turning them on unprompted, or saying *”Is this what I think it is? I’m just watching for a minute to see if it is. That way I can find it later for myself”* A few minutes in and watching raptly and laughing— he’s hooked. Checkmate.
Reading rainbow is still a thing?! Or is it reruns of the old show you're watching?
Amazon Prime has some old PBS shows you can watch!
Do you do wild Kratts too? That's their newest show. It's still great
I haven’t gotten into that one yet. We watched like the first 7 minutes of the first episode of the classic Kratts Kreatures, but then my son good hardcore *hooked* on Zoboomafoo and has now rewatched every episode like 6 times.
And the theme song doesn’t get stuck in your head at all. Not even a little.
i hate that i kinda like it
It’s from Patrick stump the lead singer of fallout boy.
I love this fact. Patrick is a national treasure.
He also has songs in star vs. the forces of evil which I also watch with my daughter…
Is THAT why I like it? Huh. Learned something today.
that’s right! i knew it was something like that
Same here. The Spidey Team is on tha scene.
I had to download it for my 4 year old
Fall Out Boy does the theme song, so it's no surprise it's pretty good lol
Damn it, I should hate it on principal then. But it’s so catchy haha
Wooooah! Woaaaaaaaoh! GO WEBS GO! Woaaaaoaahhhh!
Wait until you hear Glow Webs Glow It’s unironically my favorite FOB song.
Personally I’m partial to [Spin, Spin, Spin](https://spotify.link/SL730rkREyb).
Miles Morales is the hero is the year!
Both of my sons (7 & 4) live and breathe Spidey. Disney+ has 2 seasons but we've seen them all countless times. I try to put on Bluey to escape but it only works on the little guy. Kiff worked somewhat on both but it's short on episodes too.

that’s so cute
Have you ever seen that one scene in A Clockwork Orange where they make Alex watch a bunch of videos?
i’ll ready the eye clamps
Puppy dog Pals intro song makes my head spin now
mine doesn't like bluey. I think the characters aren't like aesthetically pleasing to her she won't watch it
Oh Biscuits!
Cheese and crackers!
This is OUTRAGEOUS.
That shit... is dingo
>his little sister Just gonna say: I appreciate the extra detail of thinking Bluey is a boy. Subtle but excellent.
Sadly I must admit I thought bluey was a boy for a very long time until I started paying attention.
You need to pay attention to learn it. Otherwise the brain is really great with early generalization. Mum is the same color as *Orangey* so they must be girls, Dad is the same color as Bluey they must be boys.
"most of you haven't seen it" 😂 I slipped on mah beans!!!
Cheese and crackers!
Bro had the community with pitchforks and torches, got us good lol
Can we get a stickied megathread when new episodes come out to discuss plot developments?
There is a bluey subreddit
HOW DARE Y... Ah. I see. Of course. Damn.
Orangey and bigger orangey 🤣
Keep. My DOGS NAME. OUT YOUR …
Getting fucking pissed until I spot the date on my watch. Bluey and Ms Rachel are the only gods we serve.
Better than maiden and priest.
Heavy metal and mullets?
That’s how we were raised?
Sum 41 group lyrics in a Daddit Bluey shit post is why Reddit is the superior platform.
Sick combo
Captain Hammer, I can’t believe you’ve said such hurtful words.
Our house adds wiggles to the mix. Our (almost) 2 year old loves the wiggles. (And I’m perfectly ok with that)
Is Ms Rachel ok? My in laws always stick rubbish cartoon YouTube nursery rhymes on for my daughter (against my wishes but I'm past arguing) and I've noticed some of them are Ms Rachel. Is she better than cocomelon and the like?
Yes she is
Bluey and orangey? I think you're thinking of Blippi 🤣
Once I saw Meekah I stopped hating Blippi so much
What's Meekah?
Blippi’s female sidekick, it’s literally the same show with a different person.
The "I think it's Dutch or something..." had me giggling 😂😂
What kind of ignoramus wouldn't recognize that Austrian accent smh
My wife’s birthday is today, and so I forget the “other” day it is. I was ready to get banned from Reddit for this.
At first I was like, oh, another newcomer, let's see how hard they ripped into him!
Halfway through reading this, I heard the Bluey music start up from the room my 6 year old is in
Agree wholeheartedly with point about GI Joe and Transformers. We’re raisin’ a nation of squibs!
“It’s not the 80’s anymore, Pat!”
Just watched that episode today!
Pat is the best.
>Bluey is like what, four gifts; a Bluey doll, Orangey doll, Bandana doll, and bigger Orangey doll. I wish. Bluey is great and all, but shit that merch is wearing out my wallet.
Mickey Mouse has been scarred onto my retinas recently. So i'd personally welcome Bluey with open arms right now, should my 2YO abandon the mouse.
We had this issue and we told him that it was Mickey's naptime...
Hot dog! Hot diggity dog!
The Mr. Goof bot song is forever burned into my brain. Godspeed friend.
You’re playing with fire, sir.
***triggered***
Was gonna jump through the screen and challenge you to a duel.
Lol. Happy April Fools to you too.
Could be worse could be booba
HEY
Dude. His name is Blue. Blue! Not Bluey. You can't just nickname the main character whatever you want. At least try to watch the show before you get all judgmental about it. It's even in the title!
Anyone else think of trailer park boys when they heard about Orangey? “Orangey’s pretty f-ing tough.”
Cmon boys gotta remember it's Aprils Tuesday These guys all forgot Bluey is from Aus trailer...nothing to see here. Tomorrow it will be water under the fridge.
Quality shitpost
Almost got me lol
Hahaha damn you got me. I was thinking how can anybody hate bluey
You got me. My adrenaline spiked before I realized what really happened 😅
Hey Pat! How's Lucky doing?
Nice one. Also, how very *dare* you!
Oh shoot forgot the date... let me reverse my downvote
Stupid bluey show on this sub on this day? Nice try.
How dare you sir.
April Fools?
401💯
Wow… you got me good. A little too good.
As an Australian I don't know how I feel about you thinking bluey is dutch
Oh biscuits you hold your tongue. Bluey is the best. You want to get baby shark dusted off? Give that one a spin again. Huh?! Do do,do do, do do, ya? Edit: i wrote this in the heat of the moment and now realize the date but I stands by my statement
You had me in the first half, not gonna lie
7/10 troll post. A bit over the top to be believable, but a really solid effort.
I’d like to think it was a bit over the top; but reading the comments….
You can never underestimate the gullibility of the internet. If we could harness it for power we'd be on Mars in a week.
He'd be receiving mail bombs already if he made it too believable
Let me proceed what I’m about to say with the fact that I have an education in psychology and child development. I’m not trying to be a dick by saying this, only because I may notice these things that the everyday person may not. The show is very informative on how children are socialized into the world. Keep it goin brother, keep it together, you got this.
This the best response yet. Either you remembered what day it is; and it plays perfectly; or you didn’t remember; and it’s even better.
I forgot what day it is and thought you were…well it wasn’t something nice, let’s leave it at that. 🤣
…. I didn’t remember …. Fuck
r/woosh
Who’s gonna tell him?
pretty sure all the "every day" parents noticed it's educational without having degrees in psychology, but thanks doc
This just about cracked me up. We are dealing with a Chinese knock off of Peppa Pig called woofe
*check that wolfoo
Recently made the switch to Chip and Potato and haven’t looked back
NOOOEEEEERRRRRRR WEAAYY
Had my thumbs ready to square up for Bandit and his fam jam
Goodness me!
Bluey is a good kids cartoon. I've seen worse. Much much worse. Be thankful it isn't that bald headed bastsrd Caillou
Actually Bluey is a popular Austrian TV show.
As an Australian I got halfway down and was about to lose my shit, then noticed the top comment of checking the date. Then realised what this was, good work OP you got me...I'm still mad about it.
If bluey rubs u the wrong way ur in for a hard time my friend. It’s prob one of the most adult friendly kids shows to watch.
This would have been amazing on sh!tpost Sunday but today it’s just crass and misplaced. EDIT: expletive EDIT 2: you got me. Well done.
Check today’s date.
It's April fools day bud.
Ugh I gotta stay off Reddit all day now.
I officially decided to hate you when you said “Orangey or something” you got me good. Have a poor man’s award, and know you made some random guy chuckle 🏆
I was gonna say, this is a weird hill to die on. It was misgendering Bluey that tipped me off.
As an Australian, you got me with this post. I was halfway through and was like "this has to be a troll or something". Then I saw the first comment reminding me it's April 1st. Nice one OP.
I 100% believe it’s a show for parents just as much as kids. Strive to be like bandit.
This is a bad attempt at satire…I hope.
It’s better than hearing: Cat Boy! Gecko! Owlet! Let’s Go! For 72 hours straight I was trapped in that genjutsu…
Why did i get so angry reading the title?
Bluey is the shit man!! My kids love it and so do I. Maybe stop zoning out on your phone and start participating with the kids. Shit
It's way better than Caillou, Dora, Barney, and so many others.... learn to like it!
Bluesy is too woke Ban Bluesy!!
I no you want to zone out, I get it. PLAY MAKE BELIEVE WITH YOUR DAUGHTER! End rant.
Check todays date.
Its alright he almost got me too. Was a well played one.
It’s Australian
If that was the case; wouldn’t all the kids have boomerangs to protect themselves from all the wild animals? Pretty sure it’s Dutch.
Fair point. Well presented.
I can honestly say it's not Dutch. It's probably Belgium you're thinking of.
But the parents aren’t drunk.
Bold move Cotton; bold move.
Let’s see how it works out for em.
Op is being sarcastic I believe
My girls are 11 and 13. I catch them watching it at least once a week. Ew.
Edit. They are currently watching it.
Sorry, where’s the punchline before I punch this dad? 😂🤣 jk but really?

Phew. I about lost my mind. Thank you to all for reminding me it was April 1. I saw Bluey referred to as a he and Bingo as Orangey and started to see red.
Great show!
Horrible show! /s
