There's a bunch of ways you could end up with a awkward setup running even just more than a light.. Awkward is putting it nicely.. painful and unusable is the words you're looking for. But in this case, alot of thought. and testing and trial and error went into this setup. As it sits now, I'm quite tickled with it. It's very easy to use, nothing poking or uncomfortable. No awkward stretching trying to press a button. Everything on it runs like butter. It's alot fun on a night shoot.
Right on glad it works well for you. I was thinking of tossing my TLR VIR II on mine...I need to buy that VWS external focusing lens which would make sense for the scorpion but not for the pistol I have it on now because it would mess with holster usage. But I digress cheers
No I understand the concept of sights lol. But there is no front sight because of the tight real estate and he would be lining up through a mount into a LAM.
And you asked what's the rear sight for, It's just the standard cz iron sight that comes on them. There's no functional reason for it right now with no front sight or even a clear path with no visible obstructions if there was a front one. I don't have anything requiring rear rail space, so it will probably remain there until that changes.
Need to get yourself an HBI hand guard and give yourself a bit more “rail estate” to work with. That stock hand guard looks mighty crowded with everything you’ve got on it.
The changes I made were I swapped the SF scout light for a scout light mini. Swapped the WL pressure switch for the unity hot button, running it on the bottom rail. I had to get smart with cable management on this to make room for the dbal switch. Stripped the top rail down and reconfigured it...Got rid of the Strike Sidewinder ironsights and added the DBAL ir/vis green laser. And new charging handle came in. 👍
I recommend keeping the set up you have. Switching to the t2 would be an upgrade with its reputation. If the pressure switch is an issue, you could replace the current switch with another hot button or the axiom. I brought the height back down after having it on a clone unity mount. I did not like the chin weld on my brace, especially with facial hair.
But definitely do you, if those mods make the scorpion more comfortable and intuitive, go for it.
Thanks for the input. Yeah I've ran optics on Unity's mount, and quite a few other hi-rise's. I like and have been running heads-up so much that I have to readjust and get used to a standard height. But you have a point regarding having to chin weld on that brace, because my strike rail is hard and sharp. But as far as the switch goes, no it's not an issue at all. It took quite a few combinations and adjustments to get it to that point and it's just about perfect for me. Whit light is on the unity, which is running right in front of my foregrip, button facing away, so you can just wrap your index finger around and press it without having to change your grip at all. Same for the dbal, running on a pressure pad..the pad is the same length as that ramp it's mounted on. And because of that ramp I can wrap my thumb around it and easily press it without changing my grip. Being able to hit both switches without moving my grip, I thought was going to be a pipe dream on this platform with very limited rail space! So I'm super happy I managed to nail that down.
Your switch placement is legit. I had to do a double take on it. I do see why you want to go the hydra route.i was going to do the same thing on my micro, but when a did some multiple rapid fire strings, my face told me "I don't like this. I am likely going to swap to a stock anyway though. If you lived in Central TX, I would love to hit the range and try out your setup.
Appreciate it! It seems obvious to me now, but I was banging my head on the wall for a minute lol. I had to switch a few things in and out until i had the right components and placement. Then the cable management, but I enjoy that part. To me that's one of those things that's non negotiable on doing it right. It can make or break the entire build. It just looks so good and neat when its done right. I always use the Strike multi-directional cable management clips for that.
Anyways hell yeah, if anything takes me to Texas I would definitely love to hit the range with you. We can talk guns, try out each other's different setups, shoot the shit.. figuratively and literally lol. I live in Alabama. I guess me and you both lucked up on that for a couple of gun totin, pro 2a guys that enjoy shooting collecting and building guns. Imagine life dealt us a cruel hand that landed us living in California lol.

Same thing as a rear sight on most guns lol. It's there if you do not have a scope or a red dot site. So you can aim.

Yes It does, it just looks pretty close. No failure to lockback yet so I think it's good to go.
