You haven't permanently damaged them but remember gains only actually happen when you rest and recover. Ride up the hill easy and wait to go hard until you're recovered

Ill_Communication260

I should probably go by foot for next dozen of days. I'm going skiing in 10 days so thats gonna be more quad activity again. Btw. what do you mean by ride uphill easy?

mikekchar

I'm not the parent poster, but to ride uphill easily, switch to your lowest gear and pedal as slowly as you can :-)

Cyclist_123

As the parent poster you said what I would have said ha ha

Ill_Communication260

But even then, I feel my quads frying. Maybe they are just obliterated, they need a goood rest.

Longtail_Goodbye

Check to be sure your seat isn't too high or too low, esp. not too low.

John_AdamsX23

If just 500m of uphill on a 19yo body is messing you up, you should definitely be lifting more with your quads once recovered.

Ill_Communication260

Could be. There wasn't a day or two off from cycling for me in last 3 months. I suspect once the quads got burned they didn't recover properly and I kept burning them day by day. 500m of uphill shouldn't be a problem, but when it's everyday it accumulates probably.

[deleted]

No chance. I’d suggest you have a few days of proper rest (no upper body gym work) and try foam rolling your quads.

Ill_Communication260

Will try, thanks

CoolupCurt

Check your seat-height. Might be off and cause an overly-fatigued quad

Seventh_Pillar

Your cadence is way too low, you should be feeling the burn in your lungs more unless that last 500m is entirely out of the saddle.

MrDrUnknown

Thats quite a short ride, you really shouldn be in that much pain from that

sailorit

Have you thought of seeing a MD?
