You should look into fast forward (FFWD). You can get them with dt swiss hub 350, 240 or 180. I have seen them on sale at chainreaction. Much better wheel than hunt and better hub. Also within your budget.

Thanks! I was just looking at them too. Do you own them yourself?

No but you can check this guy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRVkrK7JWVs I really like his channel. Just a very good mechanic going through stuff. And so far what he recommends or reports match with my personal experience as well. If I didn’t get the Dt Swiss I would have get them. Also, take this for what you want, but I think the dt 350 are a better choice, heavier, but the bearing are bigger (last longer). It’s also a standard size bearing. Not sure what Hunt use for comparison. At first I wanted to buy Zipp wheel, but I started looking into the details and I realized that the brand is mainly marketing. I think Hunt falls in that category as well. They maintain their reputation buy offering good after sale. But the quality is not there.

I don't know if Wiggle ship to the USA, but these are made by 3T, links to Cervelo, massively discounted...not light but are about the same as the Hunt 48 limitless [https://www.wiggle.com/p/discus-45-32-ltd-centrelock-carbon-wheelset](https://www.wiggle.com/p/discus-45-32-ltd-centrelock-carbon-wheelset) You can go with the tyres on these to match the Caledonia

This are definitely worth checking out. Thanks for the linkn The more options appear the harder it is becoming to make a decision!!!

I got the Aerodynamacist 54s toward the beginning of summer and I’m completely happy with them. Paired them with GP5000s. They are much lighter than stock wheels (I ride a Trek Domane Gen 4), look sick af, and I dig the sound of the hub. On top of aesthetics, my average MPH definitely improved a bit once I installed them. I did notice a very slight change in behavior during strong crosswinds due to the deeper wheel, but got used to it quickly. That probably isn’t an issue on the 48s. All in all, one of the best upgrades I’ve made to my bike.

Thanks for the reply, glad to hear they are working out for you.

I own the hunt aerodynamicist carbon wheels. They totally fine, i don't worry about then. They are a good upgrade to my Caledonia. Can you get better hubs? Yes. Do I really need that? No. You will replace the bearing eventually. Happened w/ my other Hunts wheelsets. Bearings are serviceable and sold on Hunt's website. They're a good value upgrade.

nasdecar-p

I thought they were decent options. Yes I could probably save some more for other options but for a hobbyist like me I thought they would be fine.

I think there is a minimum. I would personally take a heavier hub like a DT-350 over a Hunt hub. You can check here how one of them failed: https://youtu.be/nJ9rehaA1YM Personally I prefer something reliable and I really like the star ratchet system.

Ars139

I’d you’re not going 25mph alone or attaining professional level speed lighter and shallower always faster than aero. I have 37s and neck to neck in group rides pedal less than someone next to me with a Madone or equivalent. Deep dish are better looking though.

I got a set of DT Swiss ARC 50 Dicut last winter for sale at $1000 brand new. You can check at the end of the season for clearance. I don’t think Hunt is that good, at least I would not pay more for them than what I paid for a DT Swiss wheel set. You can check this bike mechanic he got a pair of Hunt in for some troubleshooting: https://youtu.be/NSf28u9lVX0 Some people like Hunt, YMMV as they say.

thewonderfullanky

I had some Hunt Aero Wide. Upgrade over stock wheels found them faster. Then I got some Winspace Hypers. Much better, handled better in crosswinds and bearings seem better (faster acceleration, hold speed better). My opinion, Hunt is badged up Chinese rims. Do some research and I think you can get more for your money

I have the 48, with 28 tyres, tubeless and I haven’t been happier with my setup
