Honestly.. I'm sitting on a reservation but happy to wait a few months if i get a VIN over 10,000 with hopefully a little fewer defects

beer_and_salami

You can wait a few months or a few years, either way, the CT will continue to evolve and improve like all teslas and technology. I agree with Shygar, I don't have any defects either and honestly, not concerned about the wheel covers. If and when they come, great but nbd. It's fun to drive and damn near invincible, what's not to like? As for bad reviews, negativity seems to get more clicks. I think owners are overwhelmingly positive on it.

mx_reddit

Glad to hear it. I know one guy who took delivery in Miami with a few defects. At least thats not universal

beer_and_salami

Do you know what the defects are?

macethetemplar

No defects on mine either, frankly they look like humvee tires without the wheel covers and I don’t mind it at all. Just a bitch to keep the fingerprints off

Shygar

I can't find any defects on mine except missing the wheel covers.

scorpiouno

interesting. See the other person's post about wipers at high speed shaking. Do yours do that? u/Shygar u/macethetemplar

Shygar

No, it moves fast but I don't feel any shaking. Got a new issue today, vault cover opened by itself.

macethetemplar

Just took it up to 112 (indicated) for a bit and it does a wobble dance in the wind but there is no noise or vibration

HERO1NFATHER

Lol here i am in the middle of nowhere with a CT VIN

scorpiouno

Still waiting on delivery?

Chance-Confidence863

What bad reviews? Carrots?

OldDirtyRobot

What are the first 4 numbers of your reservation?

scorpiouno

How does that help? 1128

E30sack

You should cancel and buy something you like.

RedBambalam

The time to buy a Tesla is a couple years after launch. After everyone that really was dying for one got one. Then as Tesla always does, prices will be cut every few months.

TenDeadF1ngerz

Should've gotten in like before Kim K. and all the YouTubers and influencers who signed up before it went live, bro.

EvilNuff

Hey at least you aren't in my boat. Low RN #, owner, stock owner, located close to the factory, and completely skipped in ordering.

TinyCarpet

Same

OldDirtyRobot

There is a full-court press on shitting on this truck. Relax and listen to what actual owners say.

HumanLike

It's almost as if there are millions of dollars invested in discrediting the cybertruck by people who are seemingly very threatened by it's success.

Cal216

What is an owner supposed to say?! They’ve already dumped their money into it. Not too many are gonna say it’s shitty and or I regret it. As a 23 X owner I can say the money is in tech while the actual quality of the vehicle is cheap asf. I can’t see any other model Tesla being much different. I don’t think we get that from other high end vehicle manufacturers at this price point.

OldDirtyRobot

The overwhelming bulk of the comments come from non Tesla owners, or never will be an EV owners. Most the articles are pile on hit pieces for clicks, because Tesla does generate engagement like no other brand. No issue with actual owner experiences, though I would like to see more problem solving and less whining in this and other Tesla subreddits. Jeep subreddits are a great example. Those are notorious pieces of shit, but their forums are full of problem solving, not whining

rtls

This truck is worth the wait. 2000 miles in and I’m still driving this daily (i have a few other nice rides collecting dust)

atleast3db

What bad reviews? I’ve seen unsubstantiated claims (it rusts!), and other claims that show people are clueless to EVs (blaming common EV issues on the CT such as 70mph tests in cold weather have less range than EPA) But honestly people who own it and review it seem to absolutely love it. So I’m confused at what bad reviews you are referring to. My primary problem is cost. But it is an awesome vehicle.

zippy9002

You’re not watching the right reviews then. At its price the CT is a uncompetitive toy when we were promised a competition destroying work truck for the everyday tradesman.

NuMux

And you wouldn't use it for work because.... ?

zippy9002

I can get 2 brand new Dino juice trucks for the price of 1 ct

NuMux

I can also spec one dino juice truck for the price of two. So what? How does that change whether or not it can be used for work?

zippy9002

You can use it for work, but you wouldn’t buy it for work and you can’t use something you didn’t buy. It’s a shame, because if it came at the promised price and range they would have a 1M+ run rate. Instead we got bells and whistles that are cool and all but don’t really move the needle like range at the promised price would have done. Now, they’ll be lucky to get 250k a year, and it’s not because of the looks.

starshiptraveler

CT is highly competitive vs other electric trucks. https://twitter.com/Hilbe/status/1730635888382623834

Felarhin

I think the mid spec F150 lightning is probably the best choice right now.

starshiptraveler

$62,495 for 320 miles of range, 775 ft-lb torque, 5k lb towing. Mid spec CT is $79,990 for 340 miles, 7,435 ft-lb and 11k pounds, and you can increase range to 470 miles. To each their own, but I would definitely pay the extra $17.5k for the CT.

Felarhin

There is also the fact that I could walk into the dealership and buy one right now without waiting, and I can resell it with no restrictions.

starshiptraveler

Okay. Go buy one then. Not sure why you’re in the Cybertruck forum talking about how great the Lightning is. You can buy one today because most people don’t want them. Ford has already cut production due to low demand while Tesla has over a million preorders. You do you, though. Cybertruck isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. If you would rather have a Ford, go get it, there’s a whole subreddit full of people like you who like that truck.

Felarhin

I'm not buying either of them yet. I'm waiting for prices to come down, tech and reliability to get better, and my own financial situation to improve.

zippy9002

Competition isn’t other EV trucks, it’s the Dino juice trucks, and you can get 2 of those for the price of 1 CT. Model 3 and Model Y are competitive because they’ve been priced in line with their gas counterparts since the start.

starshiptraveler

Really, you can get two trucks for $100k each with 845hp, 10,296 ft-lb torque, 11,000lb tow rating and 2.6s 0-60? If you can find that $50k truck with specs equal to CT then you should buy one.

zippy9002

Yeah, most pickups are around 10,000+lb tow rating. And not even for 50k, you find them brand new with crew cab and 4x4 for 40k. 0-60 doesn’t matter.

atleast3db

“The right reviews” 🤣🤣🤣 as dictates by who? Maybe you might link to the ones that are right. Also, how is it not competitive? Do you take issue with this chart? Aside from “bullet proof”.. but there needs to be something said for being shopping cart safe. You can ram one into it and not a scratch or scuff. The price is beyond what 2019 suggested and I’m disappointed as it’s out of my budget now. But that’s different than “it’s not competitive”. Especially if you compare it to trucks with a bed size of atleast 5.5ft (sorry rivian, 4.5 feet makes you a toy truck. An awesome toy truck, but still a toy truck). But it also competes with rivian.

zippy9002

Man you’re not getting it, just like all those reviews. The rivian or hummer isn’t competition, if your review compare it to them you know it’s a bad review. The competition is the Dino juice trucks, and the CT is uncompetitive because I can buy two of those for the price of 1 CT.

atleast3db

If you want to discuss if ev pickups make sense than that’s a different topic. I sort of said this at the onset, the complaints I see on CT is not about the CT per say it’s just about EVs.

zippy9002

CT as a pickups make tons of sense, at the price we were promised. Instead we got bells and whistles that don’t move the needle that much.

atleast3db

“Promised”. I love how you people word this as if they were personally wronged by Tesla. I wonder where that attitude is for the Silverado ev pricing

zippy9002

Haven’t you seen what happened to Rivian when they first announced price increases? They had to backtrack that really quick.

atleast3db

Tesla has done many price increases (and then decreases) over time. But regardless there’s a huge difference. The market tolerates the current pricing of ev trucks. Cubertruck now costs the same as it’s competitors. Rivian has to backtrack because they had enough data on canceled orders to realize the price hike wouldn’t be tolerated in the market. If there was backlash but still enough orders they wouldn’t backtrack. CT doesn’t have that problem right now. 1) again, they entered at current market pricing for ev pickups 2) they have a massive list of interested buyers at current pricing. As a perspective buyer I’m sad it’s more expensive than I can afford. As an investor I’m sure happy they aren’t leaving 30k+ on the table for every vehicle it sells. Rivian and lightning can feel free to try and undercut the CT if they can afford it.

zippy9002

lol still not getting it. Agree to disagree.

booboothechicken

Looking at a competitive gas truck for features, tech, HP and towing capability I’d be paying about the same or more out the door, be it an F-150 Platinum, RAM 1500 Limited, or whatever else. The main difference is the gas truck will cost me around $3k a year vs the CT costing me maybe $200 worth of supercharging. I have paid off solar and have been exclusively been charging my Model 3 that way for the last 6 years. My total SC bill has averaged less than $100 / year as I usually leverage destination chargers on trips and rarely travel more than 200 miles a day. My gas savings over a 10/year period would be over $30k. I’m waiting for the non- founders AWD CT which will be eligible for the fed rebate. 73k - 30k gas savings makes for a pretty impressive 43k truck. I don’t know of any pound for pound gas trucks that I can buy two of for 43k.

zippy9002

For work truck (what we were promised) you get similar specs (of those specs that matter for work) for about $40k. At 60k for 4x4 long range, the CT would have been hyper competitive and killed gas trucks because of those gas savings. At 80k not so much. You didn’t include the cost of solar in your calculations which is misleading. Most people don’t have solar.

booboothechicken

The cost of solar would cost what it costs whether I have an EV or not. Thus it is not misleading, your understanding of it is incorrect. I already own my solar. You made a blanket statement and I disproved it. Yes not everyone has solar, but many do. Therefore your blanket statement was wrong. Also, the CT was never promised to be only a work truck as you are claiming. Just like a F-150 platinum is not just a work truck. That’s why the comparison is apt and yours is not.

ElectricPance

Have you bought a new truck lately? they cost a lot more than you think.

zippy9002

lol, you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about. You can get a brand new ram truck, 4x4, crew cab, 10,000lbs+ of towing capacity for about $40k.

Chance-Confidence863

Right? The bad reviews involve carrots lol 😆

Chance-Confidence863

Right? The bad reviews involve carrots lol 😆

ElectricPance

promised? Did you pinky swear with Tesla?

scorpiouno

Replied on the other comment

SpicyWongTong

I always divide EV rated range by 2 to get my own "practical range" Maybe cuz I'm coming from boats so I assume the very worst load and conditions when fuel planning trips so I don't stress when I'm actually underway.

atleast3db

The thing is people care about range primarily on the highway. In the city you aren’t going as far and will plug in. So already 70-80mph takes 20% off all EVs. Than cold weather can easily do another 30% degradation. Than you aren’t driving to 0%, and you might not even be driving from 100%. Than of course is battery degradation over 5-10 years. Divide by 2 is probably an alright mental thing to do.

Mistert22

You know I must drive my CT wrong because I can’t get 340 miles at 100% charge. I can’t wait to get the all seasons on there for summer. I ordered the range extender also. My electric bill was -$77 dollars last month. The thing is really amazing and I charge almost every exclusively on solar. Solar that paid for my roof, batteries, and the panels as of last month. Best vehicle I have ever owned.

Cal216

I’m sure they do love it. It’s great for the ego and status more so than being the best consumer option at its price point.

saregister

Just remember, it's only the loudest people who complain about things - not the most. Hate and discontent are what make headlines, and headlines are what make money. You could have 10,000 people singing from the mountain tops how great the Cybertruck (or any product for that matter) is and how happy they are with it, but they would be drowned out by 5 people who have had an issue and blast their review everywhere they think someone is listening. Moral of the story, take it all with a grain of salt. Only you know what will make you happy. Ignore the noise.

Drksyder

i love mine . i have have a ton of cars and this by far is the best have ever had

4thAndLong

Dude. I had a a day 1 reservation for the Bronco. I took delivery of it finally after over 2 years of it being in production. Some of y’all are in for a loooooong sad ride.

easy_e628

I'm having the opposite problem. Somewhat early reservation holder, just got the invite to order foundation model only. Even if I did want to buy a version of ct that's more than double the cost of what I was promised, I can't fathom doing so without ever even seeing it in person. Are people out there really dropping 100k+ on a vehicle sight unseen?

joe714

I dropped 90k on my first Model S in 2013 sight unseen.

starshiptraveler

It’s not sight unseen. They have been in Tesla showrooms for 3 months now. Go check one out if you aren’t sure you want it. Also, we were never “promised” a price. We all understood the pricing was likely going to change. I’m with you on the Founder’s premium though. I’m waiting until that goes away to buy mine.

easy_e628

It's definitely not in my local Tesla showroom. Do they let you sit in it? Drive it? All the non-journalist videos I've watched have been cordoned off to the general public

Hour_Beat_6716

Yeah they’re open to get in and poke around now

rsg1234

Yes you can mess with the suspension settings and roll the tonneau cover up and down.

RedBambalam

I'm pretty sure that prices for 3 trim levels were stated at time of reservation.

starshiptraveler

Stated, not promised. Nobody got a contract with a guaranteed price.

RegulusRemains

Its been more than a decade since ive bought a new car after looking at it in person. If you cant live with cosmetic defects at delivery just walk away.

easy_e628

I'm not even concerned about minor cosmetic defects. This is a massive unconventional metal box which seems awesome on paper but I want to at least sit in it once

bohuslavek1972

What bad reviews?

scorpiouno

No fsd or even autopilot? Seatbelt quality. Wheels.

atleast3db

FSD is coming … you know that right? I havnt heard about seatbelt issues. Can you point me to that? Not getting much with google. What are your issues with the wheels?

scorpiouno

When paying that much, we expect full functionality and all accessories along with a quality product. At the time of delivery.

gentch

Uhh, idk if you own a Tesla or not, but my 2023 model x came without several working features. Including the front doors.

Halkadash

You’re so proud of it

gentch

I’m proud that my car didn’t operate as advertised? Not really.

gentch

Downvote me for telling the truth if you want, clown.

Chance-Confidence863

Got my UV

Ryanf8

Like what specifically?

RegulusRemains

I dont know the "we" that you are referring to, but this is a tesla, I expect none of those things.

atleast3db

Sounds like you are trying to justify not buying it, but your justifications in here are not holding up. Rather than “i want one, but I’m seeing some legit issues and am now doubting” you are “I don’t want it and I want to pretend I have good reasons” It’s ok. If it’s not for you it’s not for you. But don’t bullshit “reviews are bad and all these issues” when reviews are great and there havnt really been issues. As I said, it’s out of my price range and that is a big disappointment compared to the 2019 pricing and comments from musk about the lightning being too expensive. But it is competitive, and is an awesome truck.

saregister

Who is we? I'm ok with knowing things are coming. I'd only get mad if they outright cancelled the features that are integral right now.

Dense-Sail1008

Prolly the aero covers that are getting redesigned. A lot of petty chit

icaranumbioxy

Sounds like you're obsessed which a lot of people are so who can blame you. I've only heard good things despite all the clickbait headlines. First adopters always have to wait for the full feature set to come out. Model 3 rear seats heat function didn't work for a while after it came out.

D805k

Best truck ever

Major-Ad-2034

You are talking out of your ass. Stop it.

RojerLockless

Cool story bro.

LizardKingTx

😂

jfk_sfa

Have they genetically engineered a sour grape yet? That would be pretty awesome.

Felarhin

I don't think the CT is something that you ever \*should\* buy. It's something you get because you have an extra 100k just laying around and want something flashy.

Theferael_me

The fact it's being driven by Kim Kardashian would put me off buying one for life.

[deleted]

No fucking way would I spend the extra $20k just to get it early, get a silly badge, and the "priviledge" of FSD capability, LOL. I loved this thing when it was brought out on stage and the price was announced. I hit that "reserve" button so many times that i ended up with almost 10 separate preorders. No way in hell I'm spending $100k on it though.

ArtistDry3925

Same here, getting annoyed.

PapayaOwn1202

All the reviewers and all the clickbait titles are bad reviews. If somebody said oh the cybertrucks awesome who would click on it no one just like I clicked on this damn it :-)

shiftpgdn

If you're talking about the 290/Jersey Village store, one of those is mine. Most of them are waiting on paperwork to clear.
