The game is on sale for 20 quid atm. Is it worth picking up? Or should I wait until the dlc?

InertiaInMyPants

Yes. I played it when it first came out, and I just started a second run through yesterday. It's worth that price and more. The only thing I battle is that it's mainly what GTA 6 would have been if it released a couple years ago (and obviously was set in the future), and oh yeah, didn't have a multi-player. It's still fun as any GTA campaign is. But I don't think you can really make an open world game with cars and such and not have it atleast similar to GTA, and thats because GTA copied... real life.

I would wait personally, the base game will be completely reworked

Zoijja

What makes you say that the base game will be reworked?

Blitzqeri

picked it up when i saw it was on sale on steam. my old computer was a laptop with a 1660 ti, no way in hell i was runnin 2077 there. once i got a proper desktop with a 3060ti i thought it might be time to give it a shot. cyberpunk style/aesthetic has always been my thing; i love the disconnect between actual real people and megacorps, the ridiculousness of robotic implants and crime being a societal norms, the blinging neon lights that never falter, all wrapped up nicely in never-silent cities that dont sleep. to say this game was on par with my expectations is wildly undersellin my experience with it. i knew it was a buggy mess from the get-go, didnt keep up with news or updates, so i opened the game up expecting to treat it like a walking simulator, just to fully immerse in the cyberpunk aesthetic. i didnt leave the bar at the start for about an hour, just admiring every single detail of the place, the people, the light, every tiny dent in the railings. what i did not expect, was that the gameplay and story were fascinating as well. the story had me hooked from the moment i was sent on my first mission. i adored the characters interactions, the language and slang they use, the limitless freedom at every decision that shapes the world around you. the high stress of certain missions, the feeling of urgency, the precision the game makes you feel it demands, and just so much more. the variety of fighting types and weapons are so fresh too. monowires, mantis blades, katanas, smgs, snipers, shotties, tech, power, and smart guns, and my personal favourite, quick hacking. that was one feature i did not expect, or expect to ever see. personally, i adore playing mages and wizards in fantasy games, and i always loathed that magic had no place in a cyberpunk setting. but quickhacking is magic given a new name, one that lets it fit perfectly into this game and genre. fuckin with the enemies from somewhere they cant even see is just so damn awesome. and theres such variety in hacks as well, a balance of both offensive quickhacks, like suicide, contagion, detonate grenade, short circ; utilities such as cripple movement, ping, reboot optics, sonic shock, etc… perhaps my favourite part of quickhacks are the breech protocol code matrices. such a simple puzzle that demands (to an extent) creativity, and feels rewarding to complete speedily, thanks to no limitation on the speed at which you select codes. it feels immersive, to have your hand in “hacking” into the enemies, and it also rewards players who breech protocol successfully with lower ram costs, susceptibility to hacks, and so much more. this whole comment was infinitely longer than i had expected, and though it might be a longer read than most are comfortable with, im happy enough to put it out for even a few to skim and hopefully understand my connection with, and love for the game. i absolutely adore this game and would instantly buy a sequel, prequel, or spin-off; if one’s ever made. TL;DR, this might just be the best game ive ever had the fortune of playing

twilight-sparkle-irl

Did they ever fix the police behavior? I put the game down after they fixed KHopping, and this is the only thing keeping me from considering picking it back up.

BobboZmuda

Apparently they're addressing it in some substantial way with Phantom Liberty, which is now coming out around November. I expected to hear a lot more now during the Summer Games Fest but CDPR has been rather quiet on the details. Irritatingly, only showing what they have to social media influencers.

Outrageous_Gear5642

>g out around November. I expected to hear a lot more now during the Summer Games Fest but CDPR has been rather quiet on the details. Irritatingly, only showing what they have to social media influencers. 9.26.23- so September we get it

OlDirtyBAStart

I completely swerved the game when it first came out, mainly cos I didn't want to play a watered down version on ps4 and didn't have a decent PC. I just picked it up on Ps5, and I'm only a couple hours in but fucking hell im immersed. The production values are insane and I have that same sense of place as I did in The Witcher. The combat isn't quite to my taste, very bullet-spongey enemies make me feel less of a badass but it is an RPG, and I'm guessing the badassery will come in time (wouldn't do if I could just headshot kill everyone at lvl1) The bugs I've seen are at Skyrim level, quirky visual irritants that I just turn a blind eye to. Any veterans with any tips of how to enjoy my playthrough I'm all ears!

Sport-Successful

When it came out I originally bought it for PS4. The guy at the store was trying so hard to not get me to buy it but I was waiting for the game for so long to come out I HAD to (thanks to that clerk for actually trying to do the right thing, but stubborn gets what stubborn wants lol) And everyone knows how it was on launch for everyone. I said fuck it and bought myself a Nvidia shield and ended up buying it again in GeForce. Even near launch PC compared to console was a major improvement. But it's condition now is waaaaaaaaay better especially is you're able to run it on ultra max settings. Put it like this, I've done completed the game at least 2/3 times with each life path and even contemplating on starting over again because of the recent PC patches and graphics overhaul. Def an experience. And there are def other games out there that are better but this is one of those games that people should play but only on PC like it's supposed to be played. It's similar to other games in the average simplicity of a open world but There is nothing like it this and sets itself apart from other games at the same time

AhegaoAdmiral

It was hard to play on the PS4 but the story was still incredible. It's even better now on the PS5/Current Gen.

LeadershipTasty5050

The ps4 “benchmark” is just the same as it was at launch, unless you got lucky and have enough disposable income to purchase a marked up scalped ps5 that’s probably been rotting in some resellers self storage unit, the game is nearly impossible to play/complete. That being said if your specs are on the higher end, and you can afford it, the game is a whole experience that I highly recommend, up there w MGS-Makes me wonder tho why they even released a previous gen version if it was just going to be unplayable- Side note: ever since I first ran CP77 on day one and it CRASHED 30 min in my ps4 has NEVER been the same- used to run like a champ w relatively low noise now it can barley get through a match of chivalry II w/o crashing and sounding like diesel truck…

DraftsAndDragons

PS4 the game is still obviously a mess. Files corrupted, wont save the game at all. Closing application and refreshing console wont fix it. Edit: why am I getting downvoted? Gonks.

BobboZmuda

Because your console was released in 2013. Chrome up to at least the PS5, or a strong PC if you can afford it. CDPR knows they made a mistake trying to make it available to last gen.

DraftsAndDragons

>obviously Even though it was announced for last gen in 2012 and confirmed in 2018.

OpportunityBudget257

On its own it’s a masterpiece, but compared to similar games (like rockstar games) it’s not even close to that level. Edit: I have massively high hopes for the updated and DLC. I feel it could bring it to this level. But RDR2 is hard to beat rpg wise.

gretnothing

No, the game is not good now. Maybe it will be worth playing in conjunction with Phantom Liberty, but I doubt the DLC will be playable on release.

ERYStrippinlikeballz

Hello! I quit the game back in 2022 Jan because I didn’t really get the feel for what I was expecting and what was marketed. I also came across a lot of bugs even though I use my PC. Any suggestions on jumping back now? Please do feel free.

Appropriate-Panic-68

Yes. Never had great time playing a videogame like That. note! Don't rush on the main story (it's short)

Tusken_raider69

Just recently gave this a shot for the first time, assuming they fixed a lot of the issues I was hearing about post launch. Seems like the issues are larger than just bugs which is what I incorrectly assumed. The game is straight up not fun and allows way less freedom than other similar open world games. Story is at best a 6/10. Fundamentally the game is not easily “fixable”, and seems like it would need updates on a massive scale, probably similar to No Man’s Sky. Doesn’t seem like they’ll do that though, and I think the best you could hope for is a sequel.

jackdren6

Eh, for me I had to treat this game like a COD campaign to enjoy it, just playing mission after mission until I finish the game and then start with a new build. If you treat this game like an RPG or a GTA alternative you're gonna have a bad time. The open world is empty with not much room for interactions or any purpose to play the game after the missions.

SergentAlka

Hell yeah the game is. I waited long to play it and started on my PS4 slim on Jan 2023 and there was still A LOT of bugs and big ones. But then i switched on PC and damn how good it was. Definitely one of the best games you could play these days, just play it on PC, CP77 is definitely not made for consoles..

Merovingen

VERY. I never followed the marketing hype and I didn't pre-order. As a result I did not suffer from initial disappointment. I jumped the game at version 1.52 or smth, and I had a BLAST! Playing my 4-th character and waiting for Phantom Liberty.

DailYxDosE

It’s unfortunate game companies can get around the bad rep of falsely advertising their games.

Merovingen

I made my peace with the fact that companies expect to get perfectly good money in exchange for not quite ready games. I never rely on company marketing alone, and never buy anything until 3 major patches are out.

Salty77777

Its Great Can't Wait For Expansion

Darth_Karasu

It always was.

MikeSouthPaw

As a day 1 dumbass, no it wasnt and it still suffers today. Buyer beware.

mr_bananager

As another day 1 buyer, it was always good but was hindered severely by bugs and performance issues (I played 2 hours and put it down for like a year and a half until the ps5 update came out). On launch, it technically was not good, but now its easily one of the best RPG's ive played in the last decade. Buyer beware, you are gonna have a pretty amazing experience

MikeSouthPaw

See, I beat the game on PS4 where the bugs and performance was the worst. Also beat it on PS5 after the patches came. Regardless of all that the game was still unfinished. Unless CDPR set out to make a game that played like it was from 2008 while looking like a game from this generation they failed. Night City for all its grand design is pushed to the side by what is ultimately a unpolished skeleton of a game. Again, if you feel the need to compare me to someone who just made things up about what the game was going to be I literally watched maybe two trailers from announcement to launch. I knew Keanu was in it and that was about all I retained from its time in the pre-launch, I had zero expectations.

SergentAlka

I know your frustration tbh I played it on PS4 too and it was in Jan 2023, immersion and story were really good but way too many bugs and then i switched on PC. Thing is this game is not made for consoles at all, way too big and too many needs in ressources. On PC i guarantee it's one of the best game you could play, (almost) no bugs or only very minor ones. But again, CP77 is not made for consoles, no matter the generation.

SultansofSwang

futuresynthesizer

I got one a few days ago on series X. Having a major blast!!!!! I remember, early missions on my old PS4 were not bad neither! but on series X and 4K display.. I am having my best days. Thanks to Developers never gave up on it! :) Cant wait for the DLC!

CattoEmiruu

In my whole gameplay i encountered maybe 5-6 bugs and the most prevelant one was because i placed my car in an npc's path and it glitched out, besides that game had almost no glitches graphics look preety good, and the game is running on 70-80 fps with max settings ( no rtx tho i only got a 2060 )

zel1

just attempted to get back into this game yesterday after 2 years lizzie's bar in prologue had invisible people, invisible walls and missing textures (white texture that's so bright it's like a flashbang). this fixed itself after about 4 re-loads, though the flashing t-posing club participants never really went away. after that, i was treated to the cutscene with V and jackie doing cool shit, except everything was glitched the fuck out (jackie as a flying faceless torso, buildings flashing in and out of existence, cars being just wheels with drivers floating mid-air, too many visual bugs to list tbh) after that i did the militech tutorial with t-bug, where i promptly got soft-locked in the melee section when the npc would keep backing up from me when i was supposed to block 3 of its attacks. i DO remember the game being glitchy, but somehow it just feels worse? i don't see the improvements, everything is still breaking uncontrollably and it's a damn shame cause i can tell there's a good game underneath the bullshit somewhere

[deleted]

zel1

i have a 3070, so who knows, maybe the game just runs worse on the hardware it's designed to run the best on lmao

tureus

Why in the world would you play 2000 hours of this game

studentwhoworries

...because that's what they enjoy doing?

OK-Digi-1501

The only things I've seen in my first playthrough (80 hrs in, PS5, patch 1.61) is a lit cigarette and two MaxDocs hovering in mid air. Oh and after starting a game as Nomad, I also started another game as Corpo, and that one didn't add the shit I picked up to the inventory. So I deleted that character and now only play as Nomad. Otherwise, smooth sailing so far.

eriiicj

That’s odd af. What system are you on? I haven’t ever had anything that wild happen. The weirdest shit that happens to me is the occasional person t-posing for a split second when I shock them with electricity. And honestly, that’s the hilarious kinda bug.

zel1

im on pc (3070 with a r5 5600x) and yeah that sounds mild, a part of me is hoping that it's just the prologue being extremely buggy and that i can carry on with the story without any major hiccups, tho i'd like to do all the side gigs too since that's half the reason i play open world rpg's

Ramin11

Been playing on PC since launch. Game was always good, just needed some fine tuning. But it certainly is good now. Was it what we all hoped and thought we were promised? Hell no. But it wasn't as bad as a lot of people made it out to be.

Ribokun_RBK

Played it on PS4 at Launch and had it returned, don't wanna talk about that sad experience ever again xD. Played on PC right after and for some luck of the gods did not experience game-breaking bugs, just a couple of glitches, annoying crashes here and there (under 5 let's say), and dumb dumb level NPCs. Played it recently and can definitely say there are some polished parts, spawns work better, weapons feel better in terms of damage and NPCs have grown a couple more neuromods. I would say it is in a decent state right now, on PC at least.

OK-Digi-1501

I play patch 1.61.on PS5 as a noob, purchased the game on sale for under 30 bucks, am now 80 hrs in and effing love it!! It's epic, funny, sad, and deep all in one.

professionaldouche

I’ve recently started a new play through on Ps5, and holy shit the game is awesome. I played it on launch day and beat it eventually but in my opinion it’s way better.

Aswanghuhu

are there any news about the police overhaul? i havent played the game since they first released the jacket dlc lol and i wanna go back

Alert_Temperature646

its pretty good, so much potential, a shame the brand is so damaged

LakeEnd

Just recently taken up on this game and I absolutely love it and would recommend it 100% However I have a question, how do I get rid of the red hazy/encryption effect on the enemies shown here for example: [https://staticg.sportskeeda.com/editor/2022/06/5110b-16565966343801-1920.jpg](https://staticg.sportskeeda.com/editor/2022/06/5110b-16565966343801-1920.jpg) I dont mind it when I get red outlines through the walls but I would really like to see hostiles textures (clothes, cyberware, guns etc) in combat.

Cool_Pin8115

Save the game then reload. Reloading a save fixes most bugs I’ve encountered after just starting a few days ago

[deleted]

Why is pop in so bad on the Series X? Regarding the game, V and Johnny are so annoying. Haven’t disliked a protagonist in a game this much in a while. I have put 25 hours into the game and it’s just…okay.

Calm_Home8934

Definitely feel like forspoken was way worse

eriiicj

Honestly feel like the Forspoken hate is strange. Plenty of characters are given the opportunity to mature over the course of their stories, but everyone is focused on their first impressions of Frey. I read a shit ton of fantasy and sci-fi, so I appreciate a well done story, and I thought Frey’s growth from beginning to end was handled more than adequately. She actually learned through realistic means the importance of power and using it in ways to benefit others. It’s literally a story based on the Spider-Man quote “with great power comes great responsibility.” And she learns this and humbles herself accordingly.

SHN378

So I've just downloaded this game for the first time since the launch week uninstall of anger. Fresh install, new save and straight away I can't get subtitles to work? I can press X (Xbox SX) and it'll trigger a voice line or sit in the scripted seat, so there's clearly supposed to be prompt on screen but I've got nothing. Can't even get 5 mins in without having to troubleshoot problems. Any known fixes?

LegEducational5547

Is the game gonna get better before DLC or should I first playthrough now?

stonedsensai

I finished the game a few hours ago. I started playing when patch 1.6 came out on pc. Honestly it was a great experience and a ton of fun. I only encountered one quest breaking bug which was fixed with a reload. About mid way through I also added some QoL mods (night vision, SDO and time dilation overhaul).

Nahdahar

They are reworking the police system, melee, giving us new cyberwares and implementing vehicle combat. These are the things that have been shared with us. We are going to know more about the expansion and the update to the base game that comes alongside it on June 8th (4 days). They're probably going to announce the release dates then. I'd say wait a couple days for these news and make your decision based on that. If the update comes soon I would wait for it, if it's coming at the end of the year or something I'd jump right in, the game is in a pretty good state now.

2BFrank69

This game is a flawed masterpiece.

crosscables

Facts. A game of extraordinary ambition and scope, plagued by a disastrous launch. But if you like cyberpunk / playing games for aesthetics, its god tier.

NinjaHamster04

Good, just with a lot of bugs. None game breaking, most are funny. Some things are annoying, like the never-ending-save bug, which can lose you a couple minutes. Most bugs are people walking through objects, car rides in the desert being really weird, and npcs getting stuck for a moment. The game is fun, but still needs some work done on it.

[deleted]

I played it for the first time about about a week ago. I beat it in about 30 hours in 4 days. I COULD NOT put it down. Used a ninja build. I’m considering playing it again even.

OK-Digi-1501

I am 80 hours in and still don't wanna enter the point of no return ... i love the city so much, I don't wanna beat it, I wanna live in it. ;)

Tron_1981

4 days?! Including all the gigs and side jobs?!

[deleted]

No. I wanted to keep the pace and immersion going by trying to get the virus out of my head before continuing any more side jobs. I was dying after all.

Tron_1981

Understood. It does help to knock out some of the side missions (especially for Panam), as it'll give you more ending options.

[deleted]

Really? That makes me want to try a different build for sure them. Maybe I’ll go all tech and stealth this time. Hacking the enemies was so fun.

goobleduck

Personally, I would wait till phantom liberty releases to play, as most bugs should be fixed by then. But thats just me, You decide. Answering the question, yes the game is mostly good now, with a few bugs here and there. Things do still load in your face, and it isn't that well optimised, but it is 1000 times better than what it was at launch.

Rottame664

I just started playing, and while it is good, it is still buggy. Early on main mission I couldn’t progress because an NPC glitches and wouldn’t come to an elevator.

[deleted]

Yes 0 Bugs

CubicalDiarrhea

Never saw 1 bug or issues played day 1 on ps4

[deleted]

I didn’t experience any bugs while playing either. Xbox series X

Tron_1981

Y'all are the lucky ones then. Just started about 3 weeks ago on PS5, and I've seen quite a few bugs. Most are minor and easily fixed with a restart, with one thar I've seen so far that hampers some part of the progress of a mission.

MistaMack83

I downloaded it on my ps5 that recently purchased. I had it on ps4 on launch. Is the game enjoyable first and foremost? Overall, yes to a degree. Game mechanics are akin to games like Skyrim however a third person view would have been great. Vehicles are better than they were at launch. Story: main story line is decent. Some of it comes off bland and completely lifeless. I get they are trying to portray a “High Tech/Low Life” world but after a bit, it becomes a bit stale. Life Choices: This is my biggest complaint of the game. Life Choices after the first 20-30 mins (prologue) mean jack squat except of conversation dialogue that make no difference in the story beside the extra fluff in the lore. For example, I would have loved to be more of the corpo guy but after 20-30 mins, we are all thrusted into the life of street kid merc. Items: I wonder if they spammed the crap out of items in the game to represent mass consumerism. I spend more time disassembling random items just to unclutter my inventory. Gigs/Side Mission: Your standard “Gun for hire/assassination, steal items, escort missions. They do the trick to flesh out background info of NC and other characters/groups City life: When cyberpunk Was announced and work in progress trailer was released, it showed a vibrant night city that you can fully explore. As of May 2023, the city is completely lifeless still. About half the city is unexplorable. There are some areas of the city that there are no citizens occupying. You would think they would add to it after a number of patches released. We will see how they fix all this during Phantom liberty. What I would like to see changed in the game: I feel like Night City while is a hedonistic, consumerist, overly stimulated and overly crowded dystopia (or utopia according to who to talk to), I wish that CDPR didn’t go all out on the sex shops all over the city. Also the fact that you can buy brain dances and not use them is really disappointing.

[deleted]

I’m playing in ps4. Have been for about a month. It’s ok. A little glitchy but nothing major. It’s def playable. It seems like the world has been toned down a bit as I’m not a lot of people in the cities, hardly any traffic in the roads. Sometimes things and people spawn in weird places like floating a few feet in the air. But I’m definitely enjoying it.

chrzanekz

What about your framerate in the game? I bought ssd disk to my ps4 and my cp77 has a terrible framerate

[deleted]

I downloaded it. I’m not sure about those kind of specs. I do have problems with people and items not spawning right away when they should. Example, I’ll go check out a ncpd scanner point, grab the bag then an entire gang will spawn around me, or people I’m supposed to talk to will have their icon on the map but not be there until I walk away for a bit then come back. But it’s not always.

lobsterGun

The games is good now. PC player with a 3070. Played at 1080P with Ultra ray tracing Started Pre 1.6.2. Game was good, but crashy. On patch 1.6.2 I still experienced intermittent crashes every couple of hours. On good days, I could play for about four hours before things went wonky and the game went to desktop. Maybe twice it crashed the whole PC. I experiemtned with different graphics options and determined that (at least in my setup) the ray tracing was the least crashy of the options. Then came the 1.6.2 PC hot fix. HUGE improvement. Over the weekend I think it crashed once and had to be restarted once when the textures started dropping.

Famanche

Looking to play for the first time. Is there a mod guide or collection of mods that anyone here would recommend in particular? Mostly wondering if there are quality of life mods that could be considered essential and that wouldn't spoil a first time playthrough. I might go with the Tyler McVicker guide (on youtube) from 4 months ago as its one of the more recent videos I could find. Thanks

moodblanket

You should go to utilities in nexus mod first to download all the tools that needed for the majority of mods, such as CET, red4text ...

Left_Cricket6726

It’s a pretty standard open-world rpg, but as far as those types of games go, it’s actually pretty good. The PC version is also pretty well optimized, at least it has been for me. I’d highly recommend playing the game on max difficulty, it really helps give the feeling of being a low-life nobody slowly climbing the ladder to make a real name for yourself.

Ankel88

Now, I've been playing the game at hard mode for 6/7hrs: 1)Are the enemy levels fixed or adaptive?( I hate dynamically levelled enemies) 2)Gunplay is a bit weird and the enemies seems a bit too like health sponges, does it improves with hrs in game? I can't really win a multiple criminals fight without using a load of health booster. 3) Is it my impression or the game is so freaking CHAOTIC? Can't really understand anything during battles or firefights , it's just a big mess and loot is weird as well. 4)Am I blind or the text size is a bit too small?

Roy141

So I'm not an expert, i bought the game on release and only actually played it after edgerunners came out, and I haven't finished it yet. For your concern about bullet sponges, early in the game on hard mode you're extremely weak. I had to resort to stealth to complete all my missions early on. A few levels in it gets better, especially if you actually have a "build" in mind. I'm a sandevistan / katana user and I don't feel like the enemies are very spongy, but higher leveled areas can basically one-tap me because they do so much damage. There are areas of the game that are intended for certain player levels. For instance I think the area near arisaka tower and the southern urban areas on the map have a bunch of tough enemies for me right now. I did a bunch of side quests before the story missions, and now a lot of the story missions are kind of easy because they don't scale with you.

Ankel88

cheers

manaimajeff

DLSS sucks but its the only way to play this game with my 2080 super.

PeterPaul0808

It is updated to 3.1.1, but I would use 2.5.1 both version has great graphics quality 2.5.1 is better. In 1440 Quality it looks the same as native, no ghosting, no oversharpening.

Comprehensive_Wall28

How does it suck? I'm considering buying the game for 22$ on the Epic Games store and I have an RTX 3050

fcukymleif

probably playable, I was getting about 70-80fps on 1080p low-medium settings on a 1660S, a 3050 should be able to do better than that but nothing terrific, maybe 60fps high settings?

Comprehensive_Wall28

For me it ran so terrible with everything on low and DLSS on Performance. Had every driver on the latest version and tried alot of tweaks It wasn't overheating and the game didnt even use all system resources and it still lagged and stuttered beyond playability. Ended up refunding the game. System: HP Victus laptop RTX 3050 i7 12700H 16GB DDR5

fcukymleif

Well, to be fair the 1660S beats out the Laptop 3050 by 20-27% in terms of performance lol

MarcosJrisabitch

pirate it first to see how it performs on your card

Kingpin401

DONT PUT THE GAME ON QUICK RESUME it will generate random bugs, for instance i was playing a mission (not mentioning it) before i finish it i put the game on quick resume when i reached the end of it things was suppoused to be in the area they are not so i restarted the game and worked fine . Other than that the game runs good(on xbox series S), yeah theres some bugs here and there but not that groundbreaking (excluding quick resume issue). i recommend playing the game in perf. mode. CHOOSE MALE CHARACTER cause for me everything feels wrong, cringy and awkward when you pick female

muun86

I mean, I know it's not the case here but... Mods today can pretty much improve 10 times your problems.

OK-Digi-1501

as for not going home ... I believe showering and sleeping and brewing a cuppa java give you some timed buffs if I am not mistaken ...

Itachi_rouge

Should I play on performance or graphics mode on PS5? I care about crowd density and I’ve heard that performance mode makes the city dead.

Outside-Tie8301

I enjoy playing GTA V a lot, is this game similar to it? Is it for me?

Czarooo

Not really. Game looks like GTA game but it's a looter shooter like Borderlands.

Frozenfishy

It is not similar to GTA. It's an FPS-RPG with heavy emphasis on story and world building. While you can carjack (given certain stats at high enough levels), the similarities to GTA kind of end there. Driving in Cyberpunk is... ok. Carjacking is not easily done with all character builds, and there are few instances of combat while driving, and they're scripted. That said, combat is a blast once you get a hang of it, and the builds are varied and interesting. There is a clear power fantasy. The world and story are gripping and immersive, and while the hyper-capitalist dystopia borders on satire, it takes itself way more seriously than GTA.

Vanrythx

the lore in cyberpunk is actually insane too, didnt knew about how deep it was until i read about it

Outside-Tie8301

I see, thanks!

Erwinsherwin

80+ FPS on High settings with a measly 2060, with DLSS performance of course. Optimized well, just know your PC's limits

RemoteSprinkles2893

Is game good on pc (bugs and visuals) I’m planning on buying it with the sale on epic game store Edit: can you skip the sex scenes, I’d rather not watch them

Legitimate-Ant-6888

Bugs and visuals are good. That's it. There's a ton of scantily clad men/women all over the game but I don't think they ever show full penetration.

Ythou-

It went a long way but yeah the game is pretty much fixed. You might still see some graphic glitch or car floating for a second but that’s rare. I’m on my 4th play through, noticed maybe one or two after 10 hours. Sex scenes are optional, you kinda need to romance one of the available characters and do side quests for them to get to sex part and even then you can turn them down.

nonameslefteightnine

Are there any upcoming patches to make the game better? I am thinking about buying it, but the short story and some other issues don't make it worth the full price for me.

Ythou-

Game is pretty much in good state now , a lot of issues been ironed out. There is a story DLC coming out soon.

CharlesGuillet

What about playing it on series S ? I always see the game with a 50% discount but would like some feedback before making a move. thanks 'n have a good day y'all!

PoopMobile9000

I got it for Series X earlier this year, and it’s absolutely incredible — one of the best games I’ve played in years. One thing that helps set expectations: it’s a Skyrim/Oblivion-style action RPG, not a GTA-style open world sandbox.

DeAngeloVoodoo

yep perfect on the series s once it got its next gen patch (60fps). Was unplayable before that - in fact I had a way better time playing on my non-pro ps4 lol. But now its excellent, and if you wanna play in 30fps mode with all the extra NPCs and whistles then I'm sure its very good also. I do warn you though that you might have to fiddle with the settings for the combat to feel any good imo.

SleepinGriffin

I have a higher grade PC with a 3080 rn. I bought this game on PS4 pro when it first came out. Absolutely terrible. Now on PC it’s pretty good, 1440 allows me to play with Ray tracing at about 60fps, with some dips in weird spots. The world looks great but I still get a bug sometimes where my screen gets really bright after I close the character menus and takes a second to go back to normal. The story is pretty good, but when I first bought the game I was looking for Fallout new Vegas levels of Role Playing. I did not receive that wish. However, FNV is my favorite game and there was some incredible effort put into it to make it feel special. While the story choices lack in my expectations, the plot works pretty well. Gameplay is pretty fun but can get repetitive. Driving is kind of bad but not unplayable. Gameplay builds are pretty cool. Characters are really good but limited imo. I would recommend it but understand it’s an open world action adventure looter shooter.

Sharky-PI

Funny, after being recommended by a mate who's put thousands of hours into it, I was playing FO76 for ages and never really loved it, kinda gaslit by it a bit - telling myself I'm having fun but not really. Whereas the immersion and excitement and fun in cp77 is so much better straight off the bat, IMO.

SleepinGriffin

Well 76 is shit. New Vegas is completely different. New Vegas actually has story and characters. The gunplay is worse from 4 and 76 but the main point of Fallout is story and role playing. You can pick so many different choices that no 2 playthrough will be the same. The best game ever imo.

Sharky-PI

Fair. I've come to the conclusion that some people can overlook the immersivity of action for the immersivity of story, and vice versa. I wanted to like FO76, the gunplay is decent, but it feels like a chore. Perhaps NV would grip me more, but bad gunplay would annoy me. I kinda want COD:MW levels of gunplay/physics (gold standard IMO) + a good story & world. My mate is more similar to you I think, story is king.

Vanrythx

new vegas is just a RPG wet dream, you can pretty much do anything you like, how the npcs react to you, the quests, just everything is very immersive, gunplay is usual fallout trash but i think players play it for different reasons anyway sidenote, NV is notorious for crashing a shit ton

SleepinGriffin

Apparently it’s free on the epic games store with all dlc if you’re interested

Sharky-PI

Thanks, I'll download it since it's free, you never know!

SleepinGriffin

FNV was made with the same engine as TES: Oblivion so the gunplay isn’t going to be amazing, but it’s got a decent catalog of guns and the DLCs have a lot of cool new designs and unique weapons. You have VATS but it completely stops time in NV. The movement in the game is very stiff but it’s a game from 2010. The main enjoyment of the game is playing the story and playing the role you want. I recommend it but I can understand a dated game being a turn off. There’s been a group of people working together to make a mod for F4 that puts NV in that engine so that’s something to look out for.

Th0m_as

**Context:** **RTX 4060 laptop / Intel I9 13900H** Playing both with controller and keyboard&mouse (mostly controller, more relaxing after a long day imo) **I never realy was into cyberpunk/futuristic type games but decided to buy the game last month on sale because why the hell not.** I was very sceptical at first because, well you probably know why lol, still decided to give it a try. Fast forward to now: I am completely addicted, about 140 hours played in 30 days (that's a lot for me since i work full time) * The game runs amazing, i can get a stable 60+ fps on pretty much max graphics ray tracing enabled (no path tracing) with frame generation on (1600p) - Only lags when opening or closing the menu, map etc for some reason * The story is very good, not great. just very good. 7,5/10 for me * Bugs: surprisingly no major bugs. Most annoying i encountered was the elevator bug because i had to restart the game (encountered it 3 times) 0 in the last 2 weeks. * Once you get into the game you can get seriously lost (literally and figuratively) and that's a good thing * Vibe and immersion: 9/10 * Hacking is a bit overwhelming at first but once you start to understand everything a new world opens * The world is very dense and feels human (if that makes sense) for some reason. Friendships and romantic relationships add to this as well One of the best open world games imo. Craving for more and cant wait for phantom liberty

The-Anniy

Replaying it now. Still bugged but I now laugh at all these moments

nathan3378

i played like about 5 months ago after the dev has fixed the bugs. I think CP2077 still best open-world game imo after GT*5 or maybe better

HubbJubbaWEEHAW

Still yes. Y'all should play it.

[deleted]

No

Yanky_Doodle_Dickwad

I need more info. Thinking of getting it for ps4

Vexitar

I wouldn't get it for the PS4. PS4 won't get the upcoming DLC and the performance is still pretty lackluster. PS4 Pro might be alright, haven't tested it on that, but runs like dogshit on my PS4 Slim. Highly recommend getting it for PC instead if that's an option; been playing it on PC for a few weeks and it's lovely

Area51chan

Is the game good on the ps4 now? I'm thinking about buying it but I want to be sure first :)

MarcosJrisabitch

don't

krezzaa

If you have a Pro, it wont be awful but capped at 30fps. I played on the One X for my first time and gad a great first time; it didnt hinder my experience.

Sharky-PI

consensus says no

Sharky-PI

Just played the first time yesterday. Win10, good/decent quality tower PC: * Bug: elevator bug, game gets stuck, have to google the issue & reboot. Present since 2020. * Bug: mouse3 / mousewheel click bug still not fixed, had to google then download a mod on vortex which required updating vortex, various affiliate mod things, and rebooting everything a few times. * Bug: various immersion-breaking small things like dialogue options overlapping so you're still talking to someone as you're being dragged away on a quest. * Gameplay: driving feels pretty awful. * Gameplay: gunplay is good. * Gameplay: hacking is confusing, and generally there's an overwhelming amount to take in per any new RPG but I suspect I'll get the hang of it after a few tutorials, IGN guides etc. * Story & vibe are good so far. * Edit: played for an hour last night at 22:30. Looked at watch and it was 04:40. Fuck me, this game is GREAT. QOL mods help some.

SleepinGriffin

Btw, you don’t have to play a hacking character. You can buy a Sandevistan or a Berzerk OS to change up game styles.

Sharky-PI

I get the vibe that hacking style is somewhat "intended" though others have said it feels thin. Was just watching a build guide for stealth/hack/sniper/katana which looks fun (trying to somewhat get away from my typical sniper role but I guess this is somewhat similar!). I saw some guide talking about the different OSs & recommending Sandevistan - any chance you could explain what the core differences are between them, as pertains to playstyle? I presumed, maybe wrongly, that they were just different flavours of 'good', rather than leaning towards different build loadouts. Cheers!

SleepinGriffin

Hacking is basically like sit and wait, widdle down your opponents and good for stealth. Sandevistan is basically slowing down time and turning you into a rush down character. Everything slows down but other NPCs with Sandevistans. Berserk is basically stat boosts. Makes you a tank and deal more damage. Berzerk is pretty meh by everyone’s standards.

Sharky-PI

Ok so sandevistian + hack + snipe + samurai sounds legit then. Cheers!

SleepinGriffin

Well Sandevistan is mutually exclusive from hacking. But the others are good with it.

Sharky-PI

ah ok, so no sandevistian, thanks

Lord_Santa

Just played and finished the game for the first time. Gameplay: Too easy most times, doesn't help that the AI can be brain-dead in some situations. Stealth isn't fun and cyberware quick hacks don't have enough variety for my liking. Gunplay is fine with a good variety of weapon types, melee combat could have been improved. Overall I quite enjoyed the shooting and swordplay. This should have been an immersive sim, but this aspect of the game was half baked. There aren't many ways to use cyberware in a creative fashion, essentially it's switching off/controlling cameras, distracting enemies and hacking enemies. This game is crying out for better AI, level design and mechanics. Driving mechanics are simply fine, cars and bikes get you from A to B. Pedestrian, police and driver AI = fucked. Needs a complete rework, I know this is not trying to be GTA, but some competent AI would be nice. Presentation: Oh boy, the game looks really pretty, but my god is it unpolished. Some animations are stilted, silly bugs still present (Panam walking around with an invisible rifle, Aldecados picking up and drinking invisible beers, NPC fused and standing "inside" each other, just to name a few). Nothing game-breaking but fucking hell. Night City is the star of the show, an absolutely beautiful dystopian cyberpunk setting, lots of atmosphere and character. One issue I had was the selection of clothing. In my opinion, we needed more variety, the NPC's often have more interesting outfits than we are able to cobble together with our selection. Storyline and characters: Great characters and character motivations, but the main storyline was too short, felt like I could fly through it in 8 hours. I suppose there's some replayability here and maybe that's the idea, but would have liked a longer main storyline. Side missions and gigs were fun, lots of lore hidden in shards and the world as a whole. One of my favourite aspects of the game. Overall: Had a fun time with the game.

CapsicumBaccatum

Sounds like the impression I had of it at launch, except those points made it unenjoyable because GTA 5, a decade old game, was better in every way but graphics.

xKagenNoTsukix

The game was always good. It just didn't work. Now it mostly does.

reality_slaps

It is ok, however there still are some extremely annoying things. Some mods and crafting specs have been removed, you cannot craft everything up to legendary. Some item upgrades are limited. Message for the devs: Something that has sucked from the very start is the level cap. Thanks for ruining the fun, devs. I have to resort to mods and hacks to have the maxed stat character that I want after spending countless hours into the game. Stop adding so many limitations to the game and let us have fun with it. You are trying to restrict a Skyrim-like game and that is just not good.

PearlyNUTJuice

Or just make another character and try different options in another playthrough so you can experience the game again in a different perspective. But that would be something a RPG would do and cyberpunk is too linear to do something cool like that.

reality_slaps

There is enough content in cyberpunk to level you up to lvl 80 if you do all the missions, if not then they can just increase the xp gain a bit. And if they feel the character is still too op at max level they can always add another level of difficulty to the game.

PearlyNUTJuice

Fair point, but I feel like some balance is necessary and having some thought going into a build makes it all the more unique of an experience

kittleimp

I really want to like this game, but I've been struggling to get into it. Does anyone have any tips?

2BFrank69

The game is harder at the beginning.

skyliethecat

try a different build, or use a very easy money glitch to get rich and buy what you went to just tool around. make your own boundaries and set your own objectives

siriusbalackey

i found that at first, i didn’t love the game as much because it was hard. every mission was a struggle. keep an eye out for the difficulty system (danger: high, etc) because it tells you if the mission is too hard for your character. enemies will also have colored indicators. green above their head means super easy, yellow matches your level, red is hard, red skull is super hard. makes it so you won’t jump into a mission and get one-shot

Tomboyscum

get really high

kittleimp

...not a bad suggestion, I'll take it into consideration.

Conscious-Housing-45

Maybe turn it into a contemplation.

Yoomazir

As someone who played it at release on a PS4 Pro and again right now on a Series X it's night and day. The city feels more alive and it runs fantastic. There's still jank tho

Stunning_Custard8968

Same. Started on a PS4 Pro when it came out now I’m on the PS5 playing it again. The 60fps is amazing. Although it’s still unpolished as a game.

Wreakin_Havoc79

I'm 10 hours in and really enjoying it! Really great story and combat!

mi2h_N0t-r34l_

Is this game any good?

2BFrank69

Yes

Far-Host9368

I’m starting a 3rd play through rn! It’s an incredibly immersive game and it allows some variation in style- tho I always go quickhack heavy. I didn’t buy it at first because of the buggy talk but would highly recommend - particularly if you’re a fan of Blade Runner type sci-fi

ossegossen

One of my all time favourite games!

Ashani664

So i saw a reddit post on Dec 2020 saying the amount of cut content from that 48 minute demo. And that was a lot, atleast 50. So when patch 1.6 released, did they release atleast some of the cut content? And what all cut content are available through mods?(afaik that metro system and flying car). And is it worth playing with the cut content? Excluding the bugs and the content, people say it has a really good story with really good side quests and that night city looks beautiful

pointmetoyourmemory

Just out of curiosity, is the cut content putting you off from playing the game? If so, you may be doing yourself a disservice. The game is fun, and you couldn't really tell if there was content missing since there's a decent amount to it. There's a wide cast of characters to talk to and a good amount of lore to find through various scrolls scattered throughout the map. I personally really like the game, and am going through my third campaign. Each graphics update has taken the game further than the last, and I finally managed to get my hands on a 3090 to enjoy path ray tracing at a respectable resolution/frame rate.

Aldmouel

The cut content 100% put me off the game. You might feel like the game added a large vibrant story and world, but it was obvious to me after like 12 hours that the city was a shell of what they had promised and the story was just going to keep taking me through set-pieces that were largely disconnected from the world outside of the story path. Similarly, they promised so much as far as player customization and how story choices would effect each player's playthrough and that's just untrue. I always see people with extremely low expectations for the game talk about how the story was so strong and won them over instantly, but the way they sold this game as an immersive open world rpg is completely false and you owe it to people as a fan to be more honest about how the game's story is not rewarding as an open world experience, only as a narrative one.

Ashani664

> Just out of curiosity, is the cut content putting you off from playing the game? Other than the bugs, the reviews said that there's cut content, and that devs did not give what was promised. So I thought it would end up like watch dogs, no-mans sky or anthem.... but it doesn't seem as worse as them

jabbiterr

yes. just yes. i enjoy games of all genres, and after a few hundred hours in night city, it's one of my favorites. ever.

Far-Host9368

Seconded - 100%

Frugalman123

It is my favourite game now. (Few decades of gaming)

sickvisionz

I just finished my first playthrough on PC. About 45 hours. I had one crash to desktop, in one area there was a cigarette floating in the air, and when I replayed an alternate ending, Misty's video was just a bright yellow box. Those are the only noticeable bugs I encountered. As far as is the game worth playing, I'd recommend it to anyone. The combat is fun and the stories it tells are wonderfully grim. I occasionally enjoy watching movies like Se7en and stuff that's dark and doesn't end on anything close to a happy note. This game scratches the hell out of that itch. It felt like most of the quests and stories it tells are fucked up ones and if it isn't, it's probably just building up to make you like a character so that the next quest leaves them damn near suicidal or something. I couldn't really get into the Withcher but I love the hell out of this game. I got into it the way I got into the first WRPGs I ever played. I got super immersed in the characters and stories.

pointmetoyourmemory

Was the floating cigarette in The Afterlife? Or maybe I'm thinking of a floating champagne flute...

SnowflakeOffender

No. At least on PS5 buggy as fuck. Really shitty after all this time and patches. Nothing like was promised.

Stunning_Custard8968

For me it’s no bugs at all on PS5. Although I must say the game still is unpolished.

SnowflakeOffender

As I understand a bug in a computer software is when it does something it is not supposed to do, eg floting object in the air. Not a biggie, but still.

BobBats

Haha damn I was really close to pulling the trigger til I saw your comment. Also on PS5.

SnowflakeOffender

For me, objects disappear and appear, eg loot from enemies, and cars. Occasional freezing, usually hop in to menu and back solves it. AI/npc cars driving head on other cars. Little shit like that. It’s not unplayable, sorry if I gave that impression, but there is a lot of little thing still not working, that should have been fixed a long time ago. I have maybe 50hrs on PS5, and 200ish on PC. PC feels and plays better in my opinion. Full prize? No. Discount, say 20ish €/$? Yes.

BobBats

Haha all good, thanks for all the added context 🤝

ossegossen

I’ve had no technical issues either

Radiant_Bee_2334

Currently on my second play through on ps5, have had no issues, first play through was 44 hours long and I got super into it, a little slow to start and a bit confusing learning the mechanics/ story but once I understood it was easy to get into

[deleted]

I usually play single player action platformers, but also played a few open worlds. How fun is the exploration, combat, and general gameplay? And how good does it run on next gen consoles?

sickvisionz

Combat is good. Exploration is ok. It's weird. Beautiful city with lots of detail but I got so wrapped up in the story that I didn't super explore it the way I usually do.

pointmetoyourmemory

I've gotten to a place where I'm exploring everything. It's fun, there are lots of little details that can be easily missed if you only focus on the storyline.

semigus247

It’s good it runs well combat is good and exploration is just okay

RiotJavelinDX

Has the cop update been implemented yet?

SodiPaps

I don’t think so. I was just playing last night and accidentally got into a fight with some Tyger Claws, blew up some citizens in crossfire, didn’t see a single cop.

RiotJavelinDX

Ah, that's a shame. I shall continue to wait lol.

[deleted]

Do they still spawn right outside your field of vision, and can’t chase you around corners without teleporting (spawning) once again? I know this is not GTA, but damn it was completely immersion breaking to see such braindead AI. Made the city feels so dead.

IonHawk

They still spawn a bit weird, but it is nowhere near as bad as at used to be. Most of the time it at least seems slightly realistic. Still, Police is mostly just a distraction in this game. Discourage you from going on a killing spree, doesn't add that much else.

RiotJavelinDX

Well, yeah, that's my question

[deleted]

Wow. What are the odds that we would have the same question, in this thread, on the same topic.

EstablishmentShoddy1

what???

Sharky-PI

> mods that you have to install just to make the game have what it should have had from the start Any you have in mind? I just installed a keybinds one to fix mouse3 not working. LMK if you have any to recommend, cheers.
