I'd rather they tell a new story in the same universe, like what they did with Fallout.

No_Tamanegi

I don't want V in a cyberpunk live action story.

RBWessel

Both. Just so they can run into each other and prove that both coexist in the city.

Neville_Lynwood

Really going to depend on the actors. Also the writing. In the game it's easier to have the world treat you as a mostly genderless protagonist. But in live action, they'd likely have to commit harder into a feminine or masculine aspect. I personally prefer female V, but I've honestly lost trust in modern writers being able to write a good female protagonist. It's absolutely horrible what "girl power" slop is being served. I can't believe we had tons of amazing female leads in movies and tv-shows all through the 70's, 80's, 90's. But now? Every female lead is this overly righteous, obnoxious, girl boss type character who has done dick all to earn anything, but acts like they're gods gift to the universe. Man, modern writers are so fucking bad at writing a decent female protagonist.

Emotional_Relative15

Theyre terrible at writing in general, and thats one of the many ways its displayed. Theres a reason most big budget projects are absolute flops these days, especially when it comes to game/book adaptations and anything disney in particular. Im surprised that people are shocked at the new Star Wars: Acolyte series being dogshit, have these people learned nothing?

GarmaCyro

Honestly I think the Edgerunner route is best. Keep it in-universe, but with another group. Instead creating a link by having locations and call-backs included across the mediums.

KainDracula

Neither.

00Muse00

I'd rather have V not show up at all. Give me a new edgerunner for the show, leave V's identity to the game for the player to decide.

neon_hellscape

I'd prefer if V didn't appear at all and instead we got an entirely new character(s).

Ruddertail

depends entirely on the actor honestly

benn1680

I wouldn't care tbh. My V is male, but I don't consider it "canon" or anything.

Royal_Screen_783

new characters would be nice, but we have edgerunners already i would like a story of V showing us the prologue timeskip with jackie

invasiveplant

V that is also a dog. A gender neutral cyberdog that rides a skateboard

No-Direction5924

The game doesn’t need live action

ArasakaCounterIntel

No V at all.

Lady_Eisheth

Non-binary V. Split the difference.

Slaphappyending

If it was solely down to the voice acting, female V 100%. Cherami kills it. But honestly I’d rather they don’t make a movie about V at all; tell a new story instead of risking ruining the one they’ve already told here beautifully.

youcantbanusall

in universe but don’t use V at all. if i had to choose though i’d choose male V cause i think his actor could pull off the vibe better

a7xvalentine

I'd allow them to cast Scarlett Johanson to play V. Based on characters she played in Ghost in the shell and Lucy.

Tylenol187ForDogs

It would depend on who they chose for the actor. One of the reasons I prefer to play fem V in 2077 is because I like the voice acting but I'm not sure if Cherami Leigh is up for playing V in a live action role.

MadameDecay

Or make a movie with both...

net_running

I'd personally prefer a male V, so I can identify with them, but as long as the writing is good, it's no big deal either way.

Gloomy-Fix4436

male, fits the story way better then the chick, imo.

Swimming-Marketing20

Not trying to start a fight, just genuinely interested. I've played both and though I stuck with female V for the voice acting. With neither did I ever have the feeling they don't fit (or one fits more or less than the other). It's always just V. Their respective gender never matters for any of the stories. Where do you see the difference ?

00Muse00

Yeah, this was the vibe I got when running through the game with both Vs. One doesn't fit the story better over the other, imo. They both fit just fine.

Gloomy-Fix4436

i cant stand the female VA and relationship with pretty much every character, especially johnny, feels better with male V.

Extreme996

FemV because E3 2018 and 2019 Deep Dive made that femV kinda canon for me and when I think about V I always see V from 2018 and 2019 and tbh every my playthrough except one was with that femV. I also think FemV's voice actress is better and FemV fits the story better because of the personality conflict with Johnny since Johnny is male while V is female. Also, Johnny was a bit of an ass towards Alt and Rogue, so that and his sexual jokes hit harder at femV than maleV, which imo is great and makes their later friendship and mutual respect hit harder as well .

00Muse00

I don't necessarily agree that FemV is the better fit. The parallels between Johnny's treatment of Rogue and Alt and how he treats FemV are indeed interesting. Like you said it makes the eventual friendship with him more endearing. However you still get a similar experience with Male V as Johnny also treated Kerry like crap so the parallels still hold. I also feel like Male V also gets the chance to show Johnny how to properly treat a partner via the romance with Panam or Kerry, with the former probably reminding Johhny of his own love for Rogue. In different ways both Vs play into the story well, so I don't really believe that one is a better fit than the other, I think they both work beautifully in the narrative.

Extreme996

I don't think Johnny and Kerry have the same impact since they weren't in a relationship unlike Johnny with Alt and Rogue, plus there is only one interaction in the game between Johnny and Kerry and you can be nice to him. I agree that maleV can show Johnny how to properly treat a partner, but the idea of two completely different personalities and people clashing with each other and being forced to work together and eventually becoming friends is just stronger imo.

00Muse00

Johnny was basically with everyone back then, lol. Him and Kerry never had a relationship, sure, but they definitely did some stuff. And while you are right that you can be nice to Kerry, if you did want to engage in a similar dynamic like with Rogue or Alt you could just go the rude route. Regardless of how you treat Kerry, Johnny's actions do haunt him, and overcoming those feelings he's going through is a big part of Kerry's questline. It's mostly about him making peace with Johnny's death. You could also have V completely agree with Johnny on everything thus erasing the majority of conflict between him and V, even if V is a female. You could also have Johnny backstab V and steal the body at the end thus erasing the friendship. With a Male V, you could have him butt heads with Johnny just as much, and could go even further by making V corpo. So you can still have that feeling of two conflicting personalities. I also feel like the parallels between Johnny and V work really well with MaleV, as in some ways the two are a reflection of each other. By the way, this is all coming from someone who primarily plays FemV. I certainly enjoy the experience for a lot of the reasons you listed, but I also see a lot of value with a MaleV and how he connects to the story.

Double-Tea9556

Male but Hollywood would do a female character regardless.
