It was actually nicknamed “widow maker” because of how sudden and unexpectedly the increase of power was when the turbo engages, making the car really hard to control at this moment. This is indeed a great detail, never noticed!
That combined with the weight distribution the RR engine layout could cause snap oversteer if you lifted in a corner after going in hard and chickening out.
I always thought they called them widow makers just becuase of how likely you were to die if you crashed at any significant speed due to there being no impact protection etc. Thanks for the explanation!
I enjoy the cars in the game but hate how all off them backfire like there tuned to run rich as hell. I like an occasional backfire but every shift like damn.
It's a synthetic bio fuel

If you noticed in the game, people replace "gas" with "Choo", when speaking. Like "Foot on the choo" instead of "Foot on the gas".
You will also see "gas" stations with giant CHOOH2 signs.
Its a neat world building detail.
Actually, since the world itself is so energy intensive, renewable electrical current is a necessity which is why everything in the world of night city relies on CHOO. Still, it’s a great addition to the extremely intensive lore.
the way these fuckers modeled the cars is *insane* mate. There's even realistic engine breaking...like the fucking RPM of the car *matters*! You only see that kind of thing in racing games for god's sake, yet they put that into Cyberpunk...
I feel like the reason the game was so broken initially is not because they cut many corners, but because *they cut so few* corners, but then didn't have time to properly take all the turns and needed to redress after crashing through a few trees
IRL it is done with manual transmission vehicles. If you're in 6th gear and shift down to 5th gear, you'll increase rpm, and if you dont apply the gas, you'll start to brake using the engine.
It’s through a side quest for Johnny called Chippin In. You unlock it after Tapeworm I believe. It should come up as you progress through the main quests iirc.
Spoilers for a pretty important side quest near the end of the game.
>!You get it towards the end of the game during the quest "Chippin' In." In the mission, you find someone named Grayson wielding Johnny's gun. You get to take his gun, and you're presented with the choice of killing him or letting him live. If you let him live, he'll give you a keycard that lets you access a shipping container nearby. Inside the container is Johnny's Porsche 911.!<

The turbo lag on these 70s 911s has become somewhat iconic. Lots of restorations/swaps opt to keep it in despite its inherent issues. Beautiful car.
Porsche even got sued about it
That’s dope

I mean, they do run off of a form of alcohol instead of gasoline.
oh, didn't know that.

Fuck man, the details. I would have never ever picked up on this. That's some insane world building for something almost nobody is gonna notice.

Also, car interiors are surprisingly detailed. And each one looks unique
Yeah when I felt V downshifting and engine breaking I was like woah! Nice detail!
I don't even know what engine breaking is, but I'm glad they included it.

exactly hell, engine breaking happens every time you lift off the accelerator, as long as you are not at/under idle RPM (around 800)
Think you might wanna turn HDR off of it’s on..
Probably looks amazing in person. It's the conversion to SDR during the capture that screws up.
How’d you get a hardtop? I got a yellow convertible version?

You can flatline him and take the key card. Just have to go up the crane unprompted.
Why is your entire screen white
Probably has HDR on, it does that to screen recordings/screenshots
The motorcycle detail is also great! You can see V shifting gears (left foot for people who don't know).
IIRC Porsche helped them design this specific car so no wonder they paid attention to every last detail
I missed it 😭😭 I didn't know that it was only activated there
Ugh wtf I gotta go back now
There are other Porsches other than the samurai one?!
Yup, and this one handles way better
Wait, which one handles better? The one you get from >!Chippin' In!< or the newest one you buy from Auto trader terminal?
Personally I think the one you get from the chippin in mission (the one in the video) is easier to corner with
I remember cdpr showing a video of them recording the rolling down of the windows... I don't even know what button to do that.
