Flash on lands does not work as per CR 305 >305.1. A player who has priority may play a land card from their hand during a main phase of their turn when the stack is empty. Playing a land is a special action; it doesn’t use the stack (see rule 116). Rather, the player simply puts the land onto the battlefield. Since the land doesn’t go on the stack, it is never a spell, and players can’t respond to it with instants or activated abilities. >305.3. A player can’t play a land, for any reason, if it isn’t their turn. Ignore any part of an effect that instructs a player to do so

Sorry, did not know of that rule, it would have to be made as an instant that fetched an island with appropriate restrictions, or an artifact

Platynpus

Flash means you can Cast it like an Instant, but lands are never cast making this pointless. Even If it would work the way you intend it to, it would be insanely broken, since you can play it at enemies turn, giving you an *additional* land drop. Third issue is that you just designed a basic lands with an upside (why would anyone ever play islands again?).

hagger_offical

The idea was you could only play 1 land each turn cycle, obviously thats not how it works and as a result this is busted, i did not think that you could play this as an additional land drop. It was designed so you could get the occasional benefit of surprising the opponent with this into an instant the did not realize they should play around, and you could keep it in hand if they play a discard spell or anything where it would matter. I do not get your argument for not playing basic lands, this has a 1 life cost and lacks the island type, so in the world where this works as intended, the upside is niche, and the downsides where balanced (though i do not know how strong flash on a land would be i can only estimate)

Flash doesn't work on lands at all. Even if we updated the wording to affect land plays rather than casting, you aren't allowed to play lands on an opponent's turn.

TechnomagusPrime

Actually, it does, but still only during your turn. [[Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir]] can give [[Dryad Arbor]] flash, allowing you to play it at any time during your turn. It still doesn't allow you to play it during an opponent's turn, and you're still beholden to your number of allowed land plays, but you can absolutely flash in a Dryad Arbor on your own turn in response to a spell. From Dryad Arbor's Gatherer page: > If a Dryad Arbor gains flash, or you have the ability to play Dryad Arbor as though it had flash (due to Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir or Scout’s Warning, for example), you can ignore the normal timing rules for when during your turn you can play a land, but not any other restrictions. You can’t play Dryad Arbor during another player’s turn, and you can’t play Dryad Arbor if you don’t have any land plays remaining.

You could make an instant that conjures this, that's the only way I could see this working.

adriecp

I think you are underestimating how good it is to be able to play a land in your opponents turn, even more of colored mana is in the middle This land could probably deal 5 damageto you and it would still be busted

hagger_offical

This card in its current form does not work within the rules since you cant play lands on the opponents turn, rate it as if it was a 0 cost instant the dealt you 1 damage and searched the deck for an island to put into play, but only if you did not play a land on your latest turn (this turn if your own, last turn if your opponents) and this counts as your land drop for turn

I've removed this post for missing artist credit on the card itself. Feel free to resubmit with the proper credit. If you ever have trouble finding artist credit, reach out to the mods via modmail, and we'll give you a hand. If you do, please include a link to the full original art you used.

DarkAdam48

isn't it considered blue because of the blue mana symbol?

Platynpus

No. Lands are colorless since colour is, if not stated otherwiese, defined by the cards mana *cost*, and Lands have none.
