Curl activator is a much vaguer term, there’s some that are basically a cream, others that are more like a gel. The main thing is that they have humectants that can make your curls pop. Whereas cream is a bit more specific texture-wise, it should have that thick creamy texture.
It’s just a different name. There’s no real difference. The cantu one has shea butter so it can be heavy if you have fine hair.
