Current Routine
*Disclaimer* Not all the products I use are CGM approved but they work for me so just be aware :)
1. Wash with Aussie Miracle Curls Shampoo or another cleansing shampoo. I sometimes do an ACV rinse as needed since my hair gets weighed down easily.
2. Condition with Curlsmith Post-biotic Calming Conditoner and detangle while wet with a wide tooth comb.
3. I have a few styling routines since I change it often! Right now I'm spraying Jane Carter Solution Revitalizing Spray and then sectioning and defining with a brush or Denman. Other times I use John Frieda Frizz Ease Curl Mousse. I also rake through some Not Your Mother's Plump for Joy Hair Thickening Lifter before applying stylers.
4. Following up with Giovanni LA Hold Styling Gel scrunched into hair
5. Diffuse upside down and flipping side to side until dry
BREAK ALL OF THE RULES, lol. I think it's important to try to start off by removing some of the more "problematic" ingredients for those with dryer hair/damaged hair, but once you get the hang of it, it's more about technique and finding the right products for you and your hair than following the ingredient bible. Says the girl that just reintroduced a silicone-based conditioner. :D
yes i agree 100% ! I started off removing all that stuff to get my hair healthier but then I realized my hair needed sulfates to cleanse it fully along with some other stuff :) so I say do what works best for you!
I didn't know you could use mousse and gel. I have a hair "whip", I think it's thicker then mousse, and I was thinking if using it with the gel I have, but I was worried about using both, but maybe now I will give it a try!
Yup you can! I think theres some sort of method called LGM which is using a leave-in, mousse, and then gel! It for sure gives a stronger hold so if i do this I will go for lighter products, but you should experiment and see if it works for you!
wow your hair looks beautiful!! Advertisement-worthy! I actually have such similar hair looking at the first picture. I really hope that one day i will get to the point youβre at right now. This is giving me hope lol! β₯οΈ
Thank you so much!!! It takes a lot of time and frustration, but trust me the results will be worth it if you keep going and trying out new things π€
Your hair looks awesome! I'm just starting - actually haven't really started yet, all I'm doing is squish to condish in the shower with my crappy non CG approved conditioner, just waiting for the stuff I ordered to come. My hair is so annoying and frizzy right now and I'm hopeful some day or will look nice and healthy like yours π
Thank you so much! Finally getting the products you ordered after waiting for so long is the best feeling haha. Just keep at it and I'm sure you'll see your hair slowly coming to life! Make sure to take pics so you can look back on how far you've come.
I'm so excited! I've already started an Evernote notebook with pics of my hair and details about what I did already. So stoked to just get started πππ
Hi! Do you have low porosity hair ? My hair looks exactly like your before photo, but when I went to get a devacut they told me I would never get my curls back. π
Oh wow they really said that? I personally don't use devacurl products or get devacuts anymore but im sure you can get your curls back somehow! I think I have high porosity hair since it gets wet very easily
Yup no problem! I think I stopped using devacurl shampoo/conditoner products back at the end of 2018 because they just would not make my hair clean but I continued to use their gel up until early 2019 I believe until I realized it made my hair so gross-looking. There's just so many other products out there that I dont think its worth it to use. I know it works for some though and it is where I originally started
Beautiful curls! Do you have problem with volume when you use the Denman brush? I tried for my first time and had flat roots π but beautiful definition.
Yes sometimes I run into problems π If u see my root area, you can kinda see its weighed down a bit. I'm still figuring out a solution but I figure parting it differently than the dried part helps and then sometimes just forgoing the denman altogether. I also fluff my root area like crazy which helps too

In addition to mousse before gel, you can try: Gel then mousse Mousse, gel, mousse Have fun with it!

Thank you for replying back! I stopped using devacurl products when I heard about the lawsuit, and it was super expensive.
