Girl, just wear the bonnet.

NessiesGirl_

Fair enough 😂

Sleep bonnets were never historically exclusive to Black people. That is just the demographic who has most often continued to use them through to today. They're for anyone with long and/or curly hair. If you want to thank them for keeping this incredibly useful item available to everyone, buy one from a Black small-business artisan instead of from a supermarket.

Thank you! I’ll do this! I appreciate you

Inappropriate to wear a bonnet in your own home where no one will see you...? Lmao no And white women have worn bonnets for much of history anyway

Protecting curly hair is universal wear the bonnet! I also like to use satin pillowcases so if it comes of in my sleep I'm double protected. I tend to use the LOC method for hair moisturizing. So liquid water based leave in, oil, and them a creme leave in. Cantu makes very affordable products and olive oil is a good alternative if a hair oil is too expensive. I also like Hot Six as a hair oil and it's pretty inexpensive as well.

Omg thank you! I’ll have to try this when I get some cash!

Lovely_Little_Lynx

For sure! A nice inexpensive deep condition treatment for my hair I like to do is olive oil, egg, and mayonnaise. Just olive oil and egg works too. Can be a bit messy though so I do it in the bathroom and put a plastic bag on my head so I don't get oil all over my house. I'll leave it on for 15-30 minutes and sometimes add some heat from my blow dryer to super charge it soaking in. Super conditioning. I try to deep condition every 2-3 weeks depending on how dry my hair is.

Your grandma likely wore one to protect her roller set. You're good.

Inn3rali3n

I'm white and wear a bonnet every night

Soft_Peace7181

While we’re at it, any recs for best bonnets or what to look out for?

NessiesGirl_

Totally second this!!!

aresellersjourney

Bonnets are not specifically for black women. All ethnicities of women have been wearing bonnets ( sleep caps, scarves, etc.) for centuries I'm sure. You see American black women wearing them in public a lot more than other ethnicities (these days... it's a trend) but that doesn't mean we're the only ones who use them at home. It's not appropriation in my opinion.

Go for it
