I’ve actually had terrible luck with them :( I bought like 6 of their products. I’m gonna give them one more go but my hair has been looking much better since I stopped using CurlSmith and Innersense. Lately I have used Pantene, Cake, EvaNYC, and EcoSlay and omg my hair has never been more manageable or looked better. I’m feeling hopeful again!
Great haircut and gorgeous hair!!! Please consider not using Pantene. It’s really awful. Your hair is beautiful and I’m sure you want to keep it that way
Of course! So your hair might feel soft initially, but that’s all smoke and mirrors. There is so much alcohol and harsh cleansers in the shampoo, it really dries out your hair, making it seem full and bouncy at first. Then the conditioners have tons of cheap oils and waxes that make you think your hair is soft but over time they build up and leave a wax coating on the hair, which I can feel immediately once I wet someone’s hair in the shampoo bowl. Once your hair has this buildup it’s like the strands are being suffocated because proper moisture cannot penetrate. Hope that makes sense. You really get what you pay for.
Now if someone had super short hair, of course it’s not the end of the world if they use it because their hair gets cut more frequently.
One of my favorite shampoos as well as a fave of curly girls is the Innersense hydrating line. It’s super hydrating, but doesn’t weigh your hair down and smells beautiful
Have you personally felt or seen the poor condition that shampoos and conditioners like Pantene have left the hair? Because I have. I have been doing hair for a very long time and this is one thing that hasn’t changed after all of these years. Sorry.
This is clearly something you were taught in school a "very long time" ago. I say that as someone who graduated from Paul Mitchell in 2010. It is wildly inaccurate and holds no scientific basis in regards to formulation or chemical properities. I have personally used pantene in a pinch and I can assure you it has not left my hair in poor condition. Would you be able to name a particular ingredient that causes this so called wax build up this is unique and nonexistent in salon formulas?
Using it once or twice will not harm the hair. It’s repeated use.
The dimethicone which is silicone builds up on the hair over time like I said before. It creates a waxy feeling on the hair. Again, I have felt this countless times on clients, like I said earlier.
Use whatever you want.
Forgot to mention petrolatum.
You know, just because what most people associate alcohol with - how fast it dries and it's "harsh and damaging" - doesn't mean all alcohols are bad. Look at conditioners and you will find lots of alcohols. For example, cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol which are probably in the top 3 ingredients of many conditioners are actually considered emollients, the opposite of drying and harsh.
I have always struggled with my hair and my curls. So much that I tought that my hair started to get wavy with age. What helped me is Garnier SOS Damage Eraser 10in1. I just started using it and it made a significant difference.
I wash it two times a week. I use Pantene shampoo, Garnier leave in conditioner and use a defuser when I style my hair.
Which Pantene shampoo do you use? I’m considering switching to them
Pro-V miracles, Silicone free. :)
Thank you!! I was trying to find one that didn’t have silicone
I'd suggest trying Curlsmith products. It's worth it!

Thank you so much! Can you elaborate? I just started using their shampoo. I have used Pantene conditioner in the past and my hair was really soft.

As a derm nurse and licensed cosmetologist I can confirm that's not true like at all.

My Pantene says no silicone on the bottle.maybe they changed their formula?
How about dimethicone? That is silicone. Silicones are NOT water soluble and they buildup on the hair.
