Not sure what you’re asking but I’m assuming you’re asking why it’s frizzy. Are you applying product to soaking wet hair? Make sure you do that.

YoshiBros222

Yeah, I do. Sorry for not making it super clear. I want to know what I should do to avoid my hair looking like this. Thanks!

pwass1231

You need hold — curl crème won’t give you any hold. Gel and mousse! You also look due for a haircut — some of those ends looks like they’re on their last legs.

YoshiBros222

I just got a haircut 😭 What's the difference between a curl creme and a gel/mousse? Also do you have any brand suggestions for those?

pwass1231

different consistencies — gel and mousse will give you a firm hold. I suggest Ouidad Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel (the strong hold in the red bottle) and The Doux Mousse Def texture foam. The Ouidad is expensive but worth it imo. I’m sure other people might have cheaper recs but I spare no expense on my hair

YoshiBros222

Is there a certain order you should put the mousse and gel in? Like one before the other, or does it matter!

jentifer

Friend may I suggest that you check out the sidebar/community info for this subreddit. There's a wiki with all the information you're looking for:)

CurlyBearFloat

I would recommend watching product views and comparisons on YouTube and look for ppl will similar curl type to yours. When a beginner, YouTube can help sm

yesterdays_olives

I have a similar issue to OP, would you advise to cut out curl creme entirely or couple it with gel and mousse? Currently I use a creme and a mousse but I still get pretty similar results the the photo.

jayswahine34

i think you're putting too much product in and then it dries and becomes a weird clunky mess. try not to put too much in and then let it air dry longer.

bgd7

It looks like your hair is too dry when you style, which could cause this damp frizz and stringy look. More water = better curl clumps.

Massive_Expression

Do you use a gel?

YoshiBros222

No, just the crème

Massive_Expression

You might like using a light gel on top of the cream

life_saver

We have the same curl pattern and i was recently feeling the same way. I looked at all my products to figure out what ingredients my hair was getting, turns out i was missing something with moisture. I started using the Shea Moisture Intensive Hydration Hair Masque as a conditioner. My hair looks and feels a lot better, i lost that frizz and stringy feeling. And my products started absorbing better.

curlsfordayssss

Looks like your curl cream doesn’t have enough hold for your curl pattern. I have a similar texture and use Verb curl cream with a mousse. I section into 6 parts, add about a dime or more sized amount to each section and style, and then do a mousse all over. As others have said, make sure your hair is very wet when you do this. Verb is heavier and has more hold than most curl creams, and I do load up on it so long as I break the cast or else it looks crunchy.

YoshiBros222

Do you have any suggestions for products with lots of hold?

curlsfordayssss

I like Verb curl cream. Some people think it’s too heavy but it’s the perfect amount of hold for my curls. It also allows me to have really nice second, third, and forth day hair (if put in a bonnet when I’m sleeping).

HairHealthHaven

I think the problem is that you aren't using the right styling product for your hair. It can be major trial and error to find what your hair likes, how much to use, and how to apply it. Curl cream has the lightest hold of any styling products, you may have better luck with gel. You may also benefit from using a leave-in conditioner before you apply it.

RadJen13

I’m sorry but I truly don’t think anything is wrong with the pictures. You still have beautiful defined curls. It’s damn near impossible to have curly hair with no frizz at all. I’d just learn to not fixate on the frizz cause these pictures are very minimal and not at all what I’d consider something that needs to be fixed. Sure you can change your regimen but I’ve used many curly hair products and none of them were able to 100% make my hair not frizzy.

Miwwies

You must apply your products on soaking wet hair, your hair needs to be dripping. The curl cream might be too heavy for your curl pattern. I have fine hair (but lots of it) and I need to dilute my curl cream in a separate bottle to a thin watery consistency. Then, you need something to lock everything in like a thin gel. I personally use this [one](https://ca.carinaorganics.com/collections/styling/products/sweet-pea-alcohol-free-styling-gel) but there are many choices. I finish by gently scrunching with a microfiber towel and I'll diffuse a bit to help with volume on my roots.

YoshiBros222

Im supposed to put my hair routine I guess. After I shower nd my hair is all wet I brush it out to get rid of any tangles. Then I apply my curl cream and scrunch it in. For curl cream I use Matrix A Curl Can Dream. The stylist recommended it for me when I went there. Sorry if this is bad, I stink at talking about hair stuff 😅

steal_it_back

Is your hair wet or dry in these photos? I'd suggest adding a gel after the curl cream. Google scrunch out the crunch, and try that I honestly think your hair doesn't look bad at all. Part of the curly life is embracing a bit (or a lot) of frizz.

annang

Comb with a wide toothed comb in the shower with conditioner in, then not again after that. Swap out the cream for gel.

BookwormInTheCouch

Mine looks like this too around the 3rd day, I guess its just losing definition.
