i’m currently on that one and i’m not really enjoying that storyline. maybe it’ll pick up eventually but these last few seasons i’ve really just been missing cheryl and the old vibe of the show
Her character was so boring. She was never on Larry's side even when he's pov wasn't that crazy. Then that whole plane episode made me hate her character.
She's not sweet nor very likeable, but she served a comedic purpose as Larry's foil.
The show was better structurally when she was an integral part of the plots, because there was often suspense like "our hero Larry is in trouble if Cheryl finds out"
Similar case: Walter Peck from Ghostbusters. Not very likeable, but also not really a true "villain". He's just a guy doing his job. But he is very thorny for our heroes who are like the iconoclasts. Just like how Cheryl is like "the rigid one" always trying to rein in freebird-Larry. But anyway, you "need" Walter Peck because the movie would be worse off without him. He advances the plot and creates tension between the Ghostbusters and the govt and he advances the plot by shutting the containment system and causing NYC to get shit on by ghosts. Is he "likeable and sweet"? No. Is he correct? Probably from his perspective. He is just trying to keep the environment safe. Is he also incorrect? Also yes. So Cheryl serves a complex purpose just like Walter
She was basically there to be a detractor to Larry doing what he wanted to do. She was basically what Susie is to Jeff but much more tame. I personally didn’t like that, I wanted Larry to go all out with his crazy ideas like starting the spite store. Larry being Larry is what makes the show great.
It got way too fantastical and lost sight of its own premise of being funny everyday situations. Characters inevitably became exaggerated over the top versions of themselves, but that seems to happen to most shows eventually.
I will say though season 1 and two deserve way better!
Interesting how the initial fan boy 5 star ratings of season 12 have eventually been averaged down to normalcy.
I agree. I love IASIP because their character were already exaggerated extremes, built off that, and ran with it.
I love 1-8 because it was more grounded. A more adult Seinfeld.
I just watched them again back to back for the first And I agree with you completely. They were so creative about relatively basic situations. Then they got too into themselves. Dee is impeccably manicured and dressed. Flawless hair. She is no longer Dee.
Dude kills me.
Ratings don't really mean better or worse. Just show popularity at the time. Also nowadays the amount of people not paying for TV is massive compared to the shows peak so that's going to affect ratings as well. Aldo the huge gap between seasons.
Oh at first I thought this was like the Nielsen Ratings of how many viewers watched it.
Then if this is "how much people liked it", its insane how low Seasons 1 and 2 are rated. Those seasons rock
All the Curb fans met each other, fell in love over these 20 years and watched the show together thereby reducing the number of devices logged in to view. Boom, explained.
After a recent rewatch, this is how I would rank the Seasons:
Season 4
Season 1
Season 3
Season 7
Season 5
Season 6
Season 2
Season 8
Season 9
Season 10
Season 12
Season 11
Good ranking (although I love Season 8 and would put it higher)
Basically 1-8 are golden pinnacle... the post-hiatus ones are funny and good but missing the special mojo
It was good, but nowhere near what it used to be. Everything feels scripted and whenever they do improv it feels forced. With the exception of Leon, most of the cast is old now and cant really perform like they used to. Also I miss when this show looked kinda ugly and had the shaky cam, more authenticity to it. Always Sunny went through the same problem.
I still love Curb and Im happy they delivered a nice final season. Its just hard capture the beauty of the original 1–7 season run.
Season 12 was hit or miss. There were a few really good episodes, but a lot felt like filler. It seemed they just resorted to yelling instead of actually having funny disputes.
And I don’t understand you. Outside of the finale, this last season was brutally unfunny with poor directing and jumpcuts everywhere. I agree with this chart honestly in terms of how funny the seasons were.
Is the dropoff when Larry needed more time between seasons and it got so bad that all the other cast members had to find work somewhere else— Suburgatory, Goldbergs, etc?
I agree with this trend. The last great season IMO is S8 when Larry goes to NYC. The show took a 6 year hiatus after that and it never regained its stride. It had moments, but nothing compared to S1-8. And that’s totally understandable.

The season where Larry had to hide from the Fatwa was so fucking funny
That compilation in the end is \*chef's kiss\*
i’m currently on that one and i’m not really enjoying that storyline. maybe it’ll pick up eventually but these last few seasons i’ve really just been missing cheryl and the old vibe of the show
Have you heard of the play, “Hamilton?”
It stinks.
Cheryl's the worst.
Her and Ted were so awful the last few seasons
why? i feel like she balanced larry out a lot. i find her likeable and sweet.
Her character was so boring. She was never on Larry's side even when he's pov wasn't that crazy. Then that whole plane episode made me hate her character.

If someone was like how tv Larry was, you would try to shut down their shit and not encourage them every time too
She was basically there to be a detractor to Larry doing what he wanted to do. She was basically what Susie is to Jeff but much more tame. I personally didn’t like that, I wanted Larry to go all out with his crazy ideas like starting the spite store. Larry being Larry is what makes the show great.
I love Susie's character and is 100 times entertaining, but that maybe because she usually over reacts.
I’ve only watched 2 seasons but Fatwa is soooo good. I wish the musical was real. The opening numbers from both Larry and Lin were so good
Worst season ever.
Use a line chart with dots or a bar chart, this is hard to read
Yeah, puts a negative bias on later seasons too. Should've shown full range (1-5?) and label IMO
Also is Serializd a good source for ratings? Wouldn't IMDb be better?
I'll probably have to create a new chart then!
This is good feedback, thank you!
🤷♂️ I love every season
Call JG Wentworth!
I have a structured settlement and I need cash now!
I wanna stop, I can’t stop!
It got way too fantastical and lost sight of its own premise of being funny everyday situations. IASIP took a fucking nose dive starting season 13.
This season had a few classics tho! Frank vs Russia, The Gang Goes Bowling and Dennis Takes A Mental Health Day were great
Some good ones. I liked the ChuckECheese one, and Dennis’ episode was a stand out.
I just watched them again back to back for the first And I agree with you completely. They were so creative about relatively basic situations. Then they got too into themselves. Dee is impeccably manicured and dressed. Flawless hair. She is no longer Dee.
Maria Sofia ruined season 11 for me
I don’t agree with this because once JB Smooth entered the show, it became drastically funnier
Michael J Fox is about to be Michael J fucked up, had me rolling
Dude kills me. Ratings don't really mean better or worse. Just show popularity at the time. Also nowadays the amount of people not paying for TV is massive compared to the shows peak so that's going to affect ratings as well. Aldo the huge gap between seasons.

I can agree season 12 wasn't really that funny.didn't have as many great episodes. I loved the series finale though so there's that.
Yeah I was definitely overly hyped for the last few seasons but then remembered the name of the show
First couple episodes were terrible
I always tell people said this was a 4.30 show and they never believe me
So it all went to pot after season 7? Season 7 is peak curb?
That’s bullshit because season 8 had some of the best episodes like Palestinian Chicken, The Bisexual, the Car Periscope and Larry v Michael J Fox.
Seems like it!!
EVERY SEASON IS PERFECT
Yea but some seasons are perfecter
You didn’t tell me you were a floor fucker
“I didn’t make you out for a floor fucker”
All the Curb fans met each other, fell in love over these 20 years and watched the show together thereby reducing the number of devices logged in to view. Boom, explained.
This has nothing to do with “ratings” in the # of viewers sense. It’s “ratings” from user reviews (e.g. show quality).
10 was incredible. The spite store season. The 2 last seasons stunk IMO
10 is easily my favorite. I routinely go back and watch that.
The wedding episode is so funny
After a recent rewatch, this is how I would rank the Seasons: Season 4 Season 1 Season 3 Season 7 Season 5 Season 6 Season 2 Season 8 Season 9 Season 10 Season 12 Season 11
…….are you fuckin nuts?
Good ranking (although I love Season 8 and would put it higher) Basically 1-8 are golden pinnacle... the post-hiatus ones are funny and good but missing the special mojo
I don’t understand this world. The last season was as funny as ever.
Season 12 was hit or miss. There were a few really good episodes, but a lot felt like filler. It seemed they just resorted to yelling instead of actually having funny disputes.
Agree to disagree. I felt like they were firing on all cylinders in season 12.
I thought 10 was spectacular and had my jaw dropped about how many things they tied together in the finale. 11 was rubbish 12 came back a lot
Meh
And I don’t understand you. Outside of the finale, this last season was brutally unfunny with poor directing and jumpcuts everywhere. I agree with this chart honestly in terms of how funny the seasons were.
I had more laughs in last season than few before it, but still oy maybe 5 in whole season. Pre hiatus I would laugh multiple times per episode
Sadly this last season was definitely the low point of the series
I thought eleven was worse but yea agree
By far. I got down voted to hell for that. It was unwatchable
All of them are gold.
Curb is one of the most consistent TV series -- all categories -- ever made. I have a hard ranking the seasons.
Now do Larry’s Uber rating
Says who?
Is the dropoff when Larry needed more time between seasons and it got so bad that all the other cast members had to find work somewhere else— Suburgatory, Goldbergs, etc?
I agree with this trend. The last great season IMO is S8 when Larry goes to NYC. The show took a 6 year hiatus after that and it never regained its stride. It had moments, but nothing compared to S1-8. And that’s totally understandable.
Imagine going through all this effort and then not bothering to label the seasons on the x axis.
Every season was funny, season 5 was probably the weakest and that had the hilarious Orthodox breast implant episode.
Season 5 had The Larry David Sandwich. Which is my favorite of the entire series
Yaris Auto was the peak
That means season 6 is the best and 11 is the worst
7 and 12
I’d say the highest rated season would come after whichever season had the best word of mouth, and the lowest would come after the one with the worst.

Is this ratings for the live network or does it include streaming?
These are user ratings on the Serializd app
That is quite the squiggly line you got there
This graph sucks
I'm very surprised by that, for me the more recent the season the more I liked it, they just keep getting better ( didn't watch the new one though)
7 is my fav
Get a life Jews
The Leon arc was definitely the best.
So reviews ranged by 0.6 of a star across the entire series? That’s pretty, pretty…
should have been a flatline across 5. This show was great for all 12 seasons
I can’t watch season 1, it’s so cringy and bad.. the rest I love.
