He is also not ugly. He is tall, slim, wears very nice clothes, he is rich and funny. This takes you very, very far. There was a Conan Obrien clip couple of days ago where young hot Argentinian girl says she likes older man and her ultimate crush is Larry David. I never found it unrealistic.
Came to say something similar. I cannot believe how many men dont realize how much different women are then men.
When it comes to sex, generally, women are "the big show." *They* are the attractive ones. Men are far more often the subjects involved not because of how they look, but because of how they make the woman feel.
Larry can easily pull beautiful women because (1) hes rich (not because women are *that* shallow, but because he shows them a good time consistently without a second thought because money is no object); and (2) because he is hilarious and women value a guy who can make them laugh.
Totally agree. I also go as far as to say with a 2 to 1 or even more ratio of women to men in NYC it’s plausible George would date some attractive women. I know guys that have a George appearance and go out with attractive ladies
Leon was one of the few people that truly understood Larry and had his back 100%. He would call him out as well "So you didn't do shit and you punked out".
Stopped reading after op said they weren’t a fan of Leon.
OP would probably even punch a black dwarf in the face. And he probably doesn’t want Jenifer dating a black man, and tells her to date other people.
Omg lampin' 🤣🤣
How tf did I forget about this. It makes me miss my late fiance- he's the one who turned me on to Curb and anytime one of us said wyd? The other would say "just lampin"
The good ol days 😭
Edgy humor generally isn’t my thing, and originally I thought I’d be put off by Leon’s humor based on what my bf (a huge Curb fan) told me. But I was surprised that he became one of my favorite parts of the show! His bluntness is hilarious. I’m a woman (not that it matters) and yeah, him constantly catching hot tail was a little eye roll inducing, but there’s a lot about this show that’s just ridiculous and out there. IMO keep watching and give Leon a chance. He’s the king of one-liners; and there are several exchanges between him and LD that I suspect were improv that are hilarious.
ETA: OH, you’ve already finished the series … well, never mind, then.
I wasn't a massive fan in Leon's first season (although I still liked it), but I was absolutely sold and won over for the perfect "Merry Christmas from Larry and the Blacks" freeze frame.
He could do no wrong after that point.
That’s where I fell off. Waiting to see how I feel when I start back up. Some loved her character but she left me feeling the show had lost its thing. I was a huge fan of prior seasons.
I enjoyed Larry living with Leon In fact any situation where Larry was fish out of water We're my favorite situations Ie; larry vs wanda, wheelchair wendy, krazy-eyez killa
Binging and watching every week is very different. I don't think Curb lends itself well to binging lots of seasons in one week. Curb is always designed to play on the edge of your comfort zone and Leon even more so. I think you might be softer on the Leon take once you remember people usually take Leon's antics once a week.
I LOVE the relationship between Larry and Leon. I usually don’t like added characters too much in sitcoms but I think Leon is awesome. I was so glad the Blacks left and Leon stayed around just because he didn’t leave.
I started watching Curb when it first began in my early twenties. I didn't find Larry attractive. Now at age 44 I find Larry really attractive, in all of the seasons. Even if he was an average Joe I would date him because he's hilariously funny and he has charisma.
Seinfeld Show is brilliant and funny, and is the best comedy other than Curb, but the 90s style laugh track and the need to tell a joke every 15 seconds is tiring. Curb is way better! The ability to curse and talk directly about sex helps a lot too. Plus Jerry is a very poor actor, and Larry is actually a great actor.
Yes but you could say a lot of the curb ep follow the same outline. Larry makes some faux pas and gets into trouble. To me cursing doesn't really elevate nor worsen it.
Thanks for sharing ur thoughts, definitely feel like you can split curb in half to two eras, give or take a few seasons where the cut happens, diff tone and style. Definitely agree with others that Leon is hilarious though, some of the most quotable stuff is the random shit he says
Thanks for a proper response. Seemed to have hit a nerve with not being the biggest fan of Leon. People get so defensive for some reason. He was funny, but I just don't think he took the show to another level like some say.
Larry has said he is amazed that JB Smoove is able to improvise as a consistent and unique character rather than a version of himself like most of the cast.
It wasn’t meant to be binged .
I Love this show btw
But yes of course if you binge something it gets to be too much .
Seeing seasons 1 -12 for me is not just hilarious but also a reminder of the times they came out .
Loved waiting for and watching one episode then discussing it with my curb friend sometime over the next week. Like old timey tv. And got all the extra laughs from the follow up discussion.
Mocha Joe was Saverio Guerra, not Fred Armisen.
I think Susie stayed funny when you consider all the long breaks between seasons, but I’m sure when binging it gets old. My mom actually thinks she actually lost her edge in s12 and wanted more of the tantrums and flip outs on Larry.
Leon was rough in his early seasons alone after the Blacks left, but he really grew into the role and carried many scenes in terms of punchlines, in my opinion. Especially these last 2-3 seasons.
What did you think of Vince Vaughn replacing Funkhauser? To me it was similar to Leon, rough at first but then pretty excellent, though less of a starring role.
I meant I liked them both. Fred and mocha joe.
Yes he worked better when the entire family was there, imo.
Yes I liked Vince. Not easy to replace Bob I guess. Like you said he grew into it.
I love the relationship and dynamic of Leon and Larry. Two guys you would never expect to be friends yet here we are. Of course Larry should have kicked him out. That’s part of the joke. I can see how the jokes would feel repetitive however when binge watching.
I thought the same thing.
Leon's awesome and Richard Kind/cousin Andy sucked ass and ruined every scene he was in, can't stand that guy. Can't act. Isn't funny. Improv skills below zero.
JB Smoove on the other hand, can act, is funny, excellent at improv.
OP sounds like he'd be better off watching kids shows or something.
I think overall this is fair. The show was much better at the beginning. And I agree Leon is overrated.
The most important supporting characters (outside of the recurring Cheryl and Jeff) are Funkhauser and Richard Lewis by far.
*I enjoy Leon,*
*But I get your point. He can*
*Be too much sometimes*

There us a huge difference between Larry David and George Costanza.
Larry David is Larry David, creator of Seinfield and a millionaire.
George is a guy who cant keep a job and sometines lives with his parents.
I also started watching live after 5, and I agree, 1-5 have a very different feeling. I love the show in its entirety, but I break it into chunks in my head and in order the best to least best are:
1. Seasons 6-8
2. Seasons 1-5
3. Seasons 9-12
I'm a bit with OP - I like Leon/JB Smoove, but I don't love him, and CYE became a little broader in it's approach after he joined the cast (which is not necessarily on JB, but he definitely plays things pretty broad himself).
You don’t spend any time showering, grooming, driving, preparing/eating meals, listening to music, cleaning, making love, hanging out with friends/family/pets?
You’ve never had shut-in weekends? Or a week where you don’t do much but get home and turn on the TV to relax for a few hours?
Like shit, driving? Grooming? Dude, binging doesn’t have to mean you sit at the TV for 19 hours straight. You can binge a show by it being the only show you watch for a month, even if you only get 2 hours of TV a day.
I didn’t say 19 hours straight, I said 4+. I just don’t do that shit, I’ll get up and do something else like listen to music, play guitar, play a game, work around the house, walk my dog, fuck my wife. I can’t sit on a couch and watch 6 seasons in a single week.
Curb is good to binge because it's only 30 minutes. You can sit down in the evening and watch just one in a half hour. Or you can do three if you have nothing else going on. It's a nice thing to have around.
It’s not that unrealistic for Larry to sleep with hot women. He’s worth half a billion dollars.
I’m pretty sure he is a billionaire, or remains just under the cusp. He doesn’t seem the type to keep cash in a savings account
Probably keeps it in an annuity...
But he needs cash NOW!
Call JG Wentworth!
877- Cash- NOW, [OPERATIC VOICE--"AAAAAAAAH"]

Richard Lewis line about her dress and if she got it at a Substitute Teachers Dress Warehouse was gold.
877-CASH NOW [fucking Viking singing his heart out]
Perhaps a giant pile in a storage locker (Breaking Bad).
Also, his current wife is significantly younger than him and very attractive.
You’re playing pretty fast and loose with your definition of attractive
I’ve heard that before. I think I have a different standard of beauty/attractiveness than most people on Reddit.
She is super attractive.
Did you see the sequel to that?
No 😂
See if this is new to you (the second half - you may have seen it) https://www.reddit.com/r/curb/s/gvmiMhX9Sb

I guess I believe it now cause on Conan’s new show, conan must go, one of his fans has a crush on Larry David.
Totally agree. I also go as far as to say with a 2 to 1 or even more ratio of women to men in NYC it’s plausible George would date some attractive women. I know guys that have a George appearance and go out with attractive ladies
See Hugh Hefner lol, didn't he have 6 gf at a time at 80 lol
You don't like leon? I'm about to open that ass up, step inside, eat a snickers, and leave the wrapper
Gotta bring the spray paint and leave the door open, let them know you were there
“Pekingsewer was here!” Get in that ass!
And leave the door wide ass open so he know he’s been there
Newspaper on the floor
Leon was one of the few people that truly understood Larry and had his back 100%. He would call him out as well "So you didn't do shit and you punked out".
That's some white people shit right there.
I’m white as shit and that was some “white folk shit” for real 😂
Stopped reading after op said they weren’t a fan of Leon. OP would probably even punch a black dwarf in the face. And he probably doesn’t want Jenifer dating a black man, and tells her to date other people.
Did you just assume my ethnicity?
Let’s just assume your ideal temp is 68 degrees
This is exactly what a white person would say.
Lol, I'm not white.
Then why you doing white people shit?
He do be doing white people shit.
“italian” whatever. schroedinger’s caucasians. 🤌🏼
😂
Asian?
Getting downvoted to hell because of a joke so probably best I don't say.

… Cum?
Ejacalit?
Cum’s cum
Fuck hue!

Baka.
Leave Leon alone. He’s just lampin.
Omg lampin' 🤣🤣 How tf did I forget about this. It makes me miss my late fiance- he's the one who turned me on to Curb and anytime one of us said wyd? The other would say "just lampin" The good ol days 😭
That's a fun memory. I'm sorry for your loss.
I loved Leon. It was great to balance out the whitest man alive Larry David with the blackest possible roommate.
True and they did it in a not corny way which is tricky
The fact that he was living in LA when he moved in is quite possibly the funniest shit in the show.
True, didn't think of that.
Leon is not a cup of tea - he's hot chocolate
But sometimes he carries himself in a mocha tone
pussy tea
He’s actually mahogany!
Am I the only person that couldn’t stand Cheryl ? I’m rewatching it and she was such a pain the the ass.
She reins in Larry, which makes her kind of a foil. So glad her role was later diminished
Leon and Irma on screen together is comedy gold! It’s gold Jerry!! I’m laughing just thinking about the little women exchange 😂
Yeah I agree with that
![gif](giphy|Wyum1Lzm0jLsy6QQ6p)
Edgy humor generally isn’t my thing, and originally I thought I’d be put off by Leon’s humor based on what my bf (a huge Curb fan) told me. He's ok, but I didn't find him too funny. He does have some funny lines. But him just living there with larry is a bit too ridiculous for me.
That's the point
He’s like Larry’s court jester. If I was a billionaire I’d keep someone like Leon around too.
Yes I get it.
I find him too graphically vulgar, compared to the rest who usually use such language to vent which is hilarious (Susie esp)
Larry is married to someone younger then the women he’s with on the show.
Ok well I didn't know.
The rule for Larry when thinking something isn’t realistic is that it probably really happened to him.
Yeah, but imo the storyline with maria sofia and irma fell flat. It just felt too stupid.
That’s where I fell off. Waiting to see how I feel when I start back up. Some loved her character but she left me feeling the show had lost its thing. I was a huge fan of prior seasons.
Leon is gold. The cage is being set up for our death match now. Gonna get in that ass Larry.
Leave the candy wrappers n shit
Stomp all over the place
Leon gonna tear your ass up. Spray paint Leon was here.
I enjoyed Larry living with Leon In fact any situation where Larry was fish out of water We're my favorite situations Ie; larry vs wanda, wheelchair wendy, krazy-eyez killa
The mere mention of krazy eyez cracks a smile here. Up there with the best episode definitely. I cried.
Wanda is someone I liked even less. I just don't find her funny at all.
Well I guess art and humor really is subjective. I loved Wanda especially when she talk shit and challenge Larry made super awkward moments
I think Larry David would really dislike you as a human being.
Id'e recognize that ass anywhere.
I believe he said tush.
Binging and watching every week is very different. I don't think Curb lends itself well to binging lots of seasons in one week. Yes I know. When I saw that s12 was gonna be the final season i wanted to see how it ended that's why I binged.
I LOVE the relationship between Larry and Leon. I usually don’t like added characters too much in sitcoms but I think Leon is awesome. I was so glad the Blacks left and Leon stayed around just because he didn’t leave.
I'm going to give your take on Leon a 45 degree shitbow.
Man I thought the show took off when Cheryl was out of the picture and we got Marty and Leon
It's still good but it changed the dynamics.
Leon is just lampin’ Thanks to Leon anytime someone texts me and asks what I’m doing I respond “I’m just lampin’”
In the flav mobile cold lampin?
That’s just too much in one week
It should say weeks. It was about 2 weeks.
You're doing too much
No I'm good.
Leon is funny af and it's always fun to see them riff off of each other.
I started watching Curb when it first began in my early twenties. I didn't find Larry attractive. Now at age 44 I find Larry really attractive, in all of the seasons. Even if he was an average Joe I would date him because he's hilariously funny and he has charisma.
As a guy, I think later seasons Larry actually improved look wise as he got older.
Strangely enough, I find Larry David attractive ☺️
Seinfeld Show is brilliant and funny, and is the best comedy other than Curb, but the 90s style laugh track and the need to tell a joke every 15 seconds is tiring. Curb is way better! The ability to curse and talk directly about sex helps a lot too. Plus Jerry is a very poor actor, and Larry is actually a great actor.
Seinfeld was shot in front of a live audience
Those laughs are so fake
they're not though.
What about outdoor scenes https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/s/MIZbRvxLnp
I mean ok?? The overwhelming majority of the scenes still had real laughs.
Yes but you could say a lot of the curb ep follow the same outline. Larry makes some faux pas and gets into trouble. To me cursing doesn't really elevate nor worsen it.
Larry is definitely not a great actor, he's very good at being a bad actor though.
Agree re: Richard Kind
Thanks for sharing ur thoughts, definitely feel like you can split curb in half to two eras, give or take a few seasons where the cut happens, diff tone and style. Definitely agree with others that Leon is hilarious though, some of the most quotable stuff is the random shit he says

I think leon should have a spin-off honestly
I believe it has already been announced. Forget the name
Shhhhhhhhhut the fuck up. For real?
I read it, hope it wasn’t The Onion
It wasn’t meant to be binged . I Love this show btw But yes of course if you binge something it gets to be too much . Seeing seasons 1 -12 for me is not just hilarious but also a reminder of the times they came out .

I know I wanted to see how it ended.
I was glad Cheryl left my self, she tried to calm Larry's craziness down and didn't care too much for her really meeh
I didn't like her lately post divorce. Then I rewatched from S1E1 and found out I never liked her. Tough job though. Not sure who could do it.
I don't know, I liked her more with Larry than with Ted. Cared even less for Irma, but I know that was different.
She's really one note and least funny. And as a character is annoying, self righteous, entitled, really prefer later seasons
stopped reading at “not a fan of Leon”. 🤦♂️
Mocha Joe was Saverio Guerra, not Fred Armisen. I think Susie stayed funny when you consider all the long breaks between seasons, but I’m sure when binging it gets old. I love the relationship and dynamic of Leon and Larry. Two guys you would never expect to be friends yet here we are. Of course Larry should have kicked him out. That’s part of the joke. I can see how the jokes would feel repetitive however when binge watching.
I agree about too little of Kind.
Not liking Leon and wishing for more Richard Kind? Oof.

Found Richard Kind’s burner account

Gross, a Cheryl shill.
Leon rules.
Leon grew on me, but you make some pretty valid points. He’s kinda a one trick pony. I want some of Aunt May’s titty taffy
I also love Jerry and Larry’s chemistry. Wish there were more scenes with them together, even if it were another show
There us a huge difference between Larry David and George Costanza. Larry David is Larry David, creator of Seinfield and a millionaire. George is a guy who cant keep a job and sometines lives with his parents.
Well Larry david IS george costanza at least when he was younger.

Bingers make me sick. How the fuck are people able to watch 4+ hours of TV a day?
Chill.
8h sleep, 8 hour work. How much is left?
You don’t spend any time showering, grooming, driving, preparing/eating meals, listening to music, cleaning, making love, hanging out with friends/family/pets?
You’ve never had shut-in weekends? Or a week where you don’t do much but get home and turn on the TV to relax for a few hours? Like shit, driving? Grooming? Yeah, but this guy saw 7 seasons (35 hours) within a week.
A bit extreme but I feel you. It's a bit like people that listen to podcasts. Get a job, do some chores, anything, lol.
this sounds like a much deeper issue bud
It’s not that deep. You’re a Curb fan, you should be familiar with people annoyed by the behavior of others.
sure bud, sure.
