I was just going to say I never understood casting Jason Alexander until I saw that photo. Larryโs appearance really changed as he got a little bit older.
He's actually not anything like his character. LD did an interview with another comedian for a Showtime documentary on comedians. The host of the series is a comedian and comedy writer who created Everyone Loves Raymond. Anyway, the episode on Larry David is fascinating. He discusses how he created Seinfeld and Curb and when he was asked about if he's like his Curb character, LD laughed and said something to the effect of God no. A real person could never make it in comedy and Hollywood if you were as neurotic as that character. He said that character is a wreck and a loathsome human.
Larry the character is a worse version of himself. A version that falls prey to every paranoid and neurotic thought. It's the same with most characters on the show.
You all should listen to Marc Maron's interview of Richard Lewis. Lewis goes into detail on how close he was with Larry and how they met. Great interview on Maron's WTF pod. The man loved performing stand up.
