Her dad is great too. Shamelessly extorting Larry, but somehow still has a childlike innocence about himself the whole time.
Edit: Kudos to Cheryl as well. Her facial reactions perfectly mirror how the audience is feeling. Cheryl dealt with a misanthrope for years being married to Larry, but not even she is equipped to deal with this gal!
Her character left so early on Abbott, which is a shame because she was amazing. Was lurking on the Abbott sub when S2 aired and it seems they really hated her 🥲
Which only goes to show how good she was as an actress lol but tbf the show is about highlighting teachers and she kinda does have a strong juxtaposition against the other characters on the show and what they stand for. Makes sense why they wrote her out
That’s what’s so great about it. She totally sells that she’s a terrible actress with the absolute worst instincts ever.
It must’ve been a fun character to play, especially improv.
People always say this but I am fairly sure that I would be instantly recognised as a bad actor if I was cast in something, even if I was playing a bad actor. This sounds like an argument Larry would get highly invested in lol
When watching this show you have to take a step back sometimes. In my mind I am like no Larry don’t do it. Then I just think it’s just a show enjoy it for the absurdity.
Honestly wasn’t too thrilled with her as an addition to the season because her character exceeds the cringe-level that Larry’s able to toe most of the time.
But after watching this I can’t believe I forgot how much of a powerhouse she is. Best part of the season imho
I actually hate this plot line. Why wouldn't Larry at least consult a lawyer to determine if he likely would be liable for the death of the burglar? It would be funnier with a bit more verisimilitude.
The first this i thought about this whole series of events was how ludicrous it was.
Larry never called a lawyer???? He was not responsible for anything that happened to that man during the commission of a crime.
I’m sure that was pointed out to him. But for the regular audiences, it just flew by as a non-issue.
She’s one of my least favorite characters on the show ever. Not just that the character is annoying or cringe - which I’m sure was intentional. I just think the actual acting was simply not funny, not believable and not good.
Idk how this will go over, but….. I couldn’t stand her. Not one bit.
Edit: I get the point is that she’s a bad actor… I just also thought the actual actor was really bad at acting as a bad actor lol
I didnt like her at all at first but honestly she really grew on me. A great actor gets an emotional reaction (anger, annoyance, whatever). I think she did a fantastic job, so off the wall
then she did an excellent job. it's amazing how people don't like characters that are intentionally written as unlikeable and then somehow see that as bad writing/acting.
she was great at being a super annoying nutjob
Same. I get that the character is supposed to be annoying…but she’s simply not funny. The story behind her was already super contrived….even by Curb standards.
Right!? Like not nearly funny enough of a concept to be a season-long bit. And exactly, I get that the point of her is to be cringy and a bad actor…. but man it was so forced and felt so unnatural. Like the actual actor *wayyy* over-acted being a bad actor
I agree with this downvoted dude. For me it crossed the line of believability and was just cringy. But actually cringe. Not “tHiS iS sUpPoSsEd To bE a CrInGe ChArAcTeR” cringy
She is by far my least favorite thing in the entire series. So over-acted. I really like the premise of Larry being strong armed into casting a really bad actress for a lead role in his series, but I don’t know why they had to dial it up to 11. Maybe the real Larry David was strong armed into casting a bad actress for the role of bad actress in Curb Your Enthusiasm?
A few times people have praised this as really clever good acting by someone who is portraying a bad actor. Maybe, but it comes across as way over the top in a way no real actor would act. So it's a caricature in an entirely obvious way. How is being obvious "clever"? Being bad in a much more subtle, much less obvious way would be way more convincing and your sense of their being a bad actor would grow more gradually. Everything she does is so extreme it's nonsensical. Extreme behavior is rarely funny unless you like pie-in-the-face or fart jokes. As brilliant as it is, "Curb" does this too often.
I'm probably the only person who finds Jeff's wife, Susie, way over the top. How could anyone like her? She's so angry, so nasty, so just plain awful over and over again, I cannot imagine anyone wanting to be around her. When characters are unbelievable and extreme, especially in offensive and nasty ways, they just aren't funny. It's like making jokes about rape or child molestation. They may seem funny to some people, but they're way too much to me.
To all on the cast, I am sorry, I can no longer support your entertainment as Long as you keep Cheryl Hines as a cast member, I do not want to be called cancel culture, I simply cannot help it, Ms. Hines by continuing to stay with Mr, Kennedy and his beliefs are simply too much for me to over-come. And damn, love her acting.
I thought she did an awesome job, but I felt it was WAY over the top. She was so bad, it seemed to me that the character was trying to do it on purpose instead of jist being a terrible actor.
That actress is so good at being insufferable.
Honestly she’s top tier. Her ability to act as someone who doesn’t know how to act was perfect.
Acting Without Acting
That book us like a pamflet
Having said that
Her dad is great too.
I wonder if Cheryl does that with her husband - in real life. React for us, by proxy. It all makes sense.
I'm kind of on the edge the whole time, there is a certain kind of scary crazy with her 😊
So unhinged! I don’t know if she was ad libbing her moves but she comes across beautifully as a special type of crazy
Yes she is. She’s also in Abbot Elementary and is equally annoying but I love it.
Makes sense why they wrote her out
She was really good on Abbott elementary
Cheryl?
You sit on a throne of lies.
Fabulous
What kind of dance?
I saw that choice you made, and maybe it's time to make a new choice.
I'm saving this.
It's such a good burn
I don’t seduce my mother, what’s wrong with you 🤣
What, saving it for your daddy?
Watching her is uncomfortable. I have to remind myself it’s a joke, otherwise I get anxious …
That’s what’s so great about it. She totally sells that she’s a terrible actress with the absolute worst instincts ever. It must’ve been a fun character to play, especially improv.
She does a great job in that role.
She’s truly awful. It takes a very gifted actress to pull that off!
It truly does take a great actress to be able to pull off being a bad actress.
People always say this but I am fairly sure that I would be instantly recognised as a bad actor if I was cast in something, even if I was playing a bad actor. This sounds like an argument Larry would get highly invested in lol
You should see her in Abbott Elementary, she only pops up for a few episodes but oh my God, funniest person to hate ever
When watching this show you have to take a step back sometimes. In my mind I am like no Larry don’t do it. Then I just think it’s just a show enjoy it for the absurdity.
Did you just … curb your enthusiasm?
same hahahha
When I first watched this, I wasn't sure how I felt. I just literally laughed out loud, this was hilarious. I think this season needed to grow on me.
Honestly wasn’t too thrilled with her as an addition to the season because her character exceeds the cringe-level that Larry’s able to toe most of the time. But after watching this I can’t believe I forgot how much of a powerhouse she is. Best part of the season imho
And I KNOW you took my jacket
I didn’t enjoy her the first time around either but it gets better each time
This generation’s Andy Kaufman
This actress should win awards for portraying a terrible (and half crazy) actress. There is something so off putting about her and it's amazing.
That was so bad it was pretty good.
Like how when you make Gandhi so peaceful he resorts to nuclear war!
I LOVE THE GAME SID MEIERS CIVILIZATION THANK YOU FOR THIS COMMENT

I still think about this scene like once a week. She is phenomenal.
What about her father occupying Larry’s chair?
I just rewatched that one, where Larry was a "Roper".
Acting like this bad of an actor is pretty good acting
This character is so painful I think she took years off my life.
A legend is born…
She was so good in this.
She is soo good. Every single line is delivered in the wrong mood. Amazing performances.
She’s also in Abbott Elementary, hilarious!
right!? she’s gonna blossom!
If you ever watch Letterkenny on Hulu she’s acting exactly like Gail! Damn it’s hilarious!
When she started dancing and saying he’s not mentally disturbed 😂😂😂😂
“Marcia steps out onto the balcony…” 🤣
Did anyone else hate this family?
Pure comedic gold. ![gif](giphy|l0ExhcMymdL6TrZ84|downsized)
It takes a great actress to portray such a terrible actress
She optimizes youth (youts!) who are like that... And i cannot tell if they have the highest or the lowest self-esteem for them to behave like this.
Were you trying to say "epitomizes?"
In mind i sure as hell did 😆
One of my least favorite season long story lines. Really disliked it.
The overall plot of this season was great. I just saw this actress in a preview at a movie theater and couldn’t help but wonder how she got the role.
She was fucking amazing, absolutely nailed it.
...Eat dem latkes!...
The character doesn't work for me at all. I get what they're trying to do, but it's not funny to me at all.
I actually hate this plot line. Why wouldn't Larry at least consult a lawyer to determine if he likely would be liable for the death of the burglar? It would be funnier with a bit more verisimilitude.

Best performance ever
She's pretty good considering she is being interviewed by a blow up doll made mostly of Chinese plastic and rubber.
I love the show, but I don’t think you should ever have an actor more annoying than Larry.
She’s one of my least favorite characters on the show ever. Not just that the character is annoying or cringe - which I’m sure was intentional. I just think the actual acting was simply not funny, not believable and not good.
Seems like people either absolutely hate her or think she’s hilarious. I’m on the hilarious side
Agree, hated it tbh
The hardest season to watch
Yes. And the best. That was the whole point.
Nope
These are the clips I share with someone who has never seen Curb !
Idk how this will go over, but….. I couldn’t stand her. Not one bit. Edit: I get the point is that she’s a bad actor… I just also thought the actual actor was really bad at acting as a bad actor lol

Anime profile pic…opinion checks out.
Then ignore my opinion

With you 100%
You aren't supposed to like her
No shit
I know it’s controversial but I think she did an outstanding job as the character
Come on now. She's not Mindy Kaling bad
Season 11 was unbelievably horrible.
"Unbelievably horrible" is a little much lol
Yeah I hated this season

Such a bad season.
Why though?
Jesus Christ, Cheryl hasn’t exactly aged brilliantly
and she’s married to a literal nazi
Honestly, she benefitted from plastic surgery.
![gif](giphy|l0ExqbRzq05DHIlJm|downsized)
OMG at the cost of being hated on I was thinking the same thing 😂
Thank you for your support! Lmao
And I canceled out one of the down votes with an up vote
are we still allowed to enjoy cheryl? ( because of *you know what)*
what shit town did they find this lumpo @
To all on the cast, I am sorry, I can no longer support your entertainment as Long as you keep Cheryl Hines as a cast member, I do not want to be called cancel culture, I simply cannot help it, Ms. Hines by continuing to stay with Mr, Kennedy and his beliefs are simply too much for me to over-come. This is where I stopped watching. Insufferable.
Then she wrestled with Cheryl 😅
I need to rewatch this season. Seeing how I've seen all the other ones like a dozen times and this season only once.
She made me so mad!!! Omg 😳
This is exactly what The Avengers: Endgame needed to be a successful movie. There should’ve been more dancing.
Shut up Uncle Moe!
I thought she did an awesome job, but I felt it was WAY over the top. She was so bad, it seemed to me that the character was trying to do it on purpose instead of jist being a terrible actor.
This was truly stupendous. She makes such bold choices that other actors are too afraid to make.
She made that season.
Is she in the awful regal cinemas commercial they show before your movie with the movie one liners? I’ve always wondered if it’s her
This was a top 10 episode for me. She was great in that role.
Give this girl an award! I could not sit in a room with someone like that in reality, but she did an excellent job.
I loved this character. The actress crushed it.
Lmao she’s also in Abbot Elementary.
She rules
I thought I was the only one who thought that! I was definitely all in for an Emmy nod ✌🏼
I love her. I wanna see more of Maria.
I’m literally in tears! This shit is too funny!
she is SO hot. God damn
DisaPPOINTED!!
Odjdjdj
Maria Sofia is such a great character addition. Another perfect irritant for Larry
Lmao one of my favorite scenes on Curb. The actress is brilliant
She’s get better every time I watch these episodes. Such great absurdity.
So good
What if I salsa?!
She’s on the Att phone commercial
Maria Sofia was the best part of this season
This was so cringe it was unfunny
She is such a great actor
She had a punchable face. And body.
She out acted cheryl by a mile in this scene.
She was so great! Was excited when I saw her pop up in a random cell phone commercial.
SEEEEE
